In class classes were great, but I've had a variety of different driving instructors. My first instructor kind of traumatized me, especially as a new learner. They should do a better job at reviewing their driving instructors all up to the same standard and format of teaching. It was confusing to follow their different styles.

I am 30 years old without any driving experience, went to Young Drivers of Canada to learn driving. I enrolled in the very basic package with 10.5 hours on the road. I thought driving was easy, but on the first day on the road, I realized that it is too hard for a beginner. Trevor Douglas Bolger was my instructor for on the road lessons. With only 10 hours on the road lesson, I have passed the road test in one shot; all the credits goes to Trevor. He is an excellent instructor, very friendly and encouraged me a lot. His techniques for parking are very easy. Also, he saved me from 2 collisions during the lesson. Thank you so much, Trevor.

Trevor Bolger is a great instructor. Learning how to drive made me extremely nervous, however, Trevor made me feel very comfortable and explained everything clearly. He taught me so much in such a short space of time and had the patience to go over things how ever many times it took for me to master it. Its was a great course, definitely worth it. I suggest YD for new drivers, in-class lessons were great and they really take you around the basics and make driving seem fun and less scary. He was always clear with instructions and was constantly asking if I had any questions I needed answering. On top of being supportive while driving, he was also funny and an all around great person to be with during lessons and before the test, reducing most of my anxiety about driving. I would highly recommend Young Drivers as a driving school, especially Michael as your instructor.

Not impressed. Instructor keeps showing up 1-2 hours after the scheduled time for my son or just not showing at all. Then the guy texted our house phone at 12:30 in the morning to re-book his missed appointment waking everyone up instead of texting my sons cell phone. And What is the point messaging at that time of day. Not organized at all. For the money we spent to get my son here I at least expect the instructor to be more organized. Would not recommend this place. They have no consideration for customers time

Passed my G test last week all thanks to Ron. I was insanely nervous but Ron went over everything with me and calmed my nerves. I would recommend Young Drivers to anyone wanting to improve their driving skills.

I had Justin Morgan as my instructor and I can honestly say that I would have never gotten my license on the first try if it wasn't for him! I had lots of anxiety going into driving lessons. I was very nervous to start learning to drive and even more nervous to do that with a stranger. I immediately felt comfortable once he started cracking jokes and assuring me that everything was going smoothly. He even put on some music a couple of times to make it more enjoyable! He gave a lot of good tips, especially for parking, and he picked up on things that he knew I was having a hard time with and made it seem like a breeze after we worked on it. He was super professional, easy to get along with, extremely patient, and I would definitely recommend anyone to book with him!

I was a little disappointed to lean that the instructor who taught my older 3 had retired when it was time for number 4 to learn but couldn't have been happier with her driving instructor - Shrawan. Her confidence grew with each lesson. For me he was always available with updates or to answer any questions I had. Couldn't have been happier! We will be calling when it's time for her G!

Very Bad Customer Service. They ripped me off for almost $250. I send them $200+ $1041.87 as fee. The second payment for incar lessons. They couldn’t provide me trainer for 3 months Bcz of Covid which I understand but doesn’t mean u give me refund just $807. It’s my hard earned money. They made me fool and didn’t even tell me it’s gonna be this much refund before they end the services for me . Zero service I got for in car lessons . Please be careful! Don’t waste your money here . It’s my personal experience. They have been rude to me . Please don’t go here . Believe me. See the pics I have as proof for payments * I am trying to reply the comments - well then should not take money out from the customers account if it’s pandemic and should tell the refund amount before sending the refund. Stop ???? ripping off the customers. It’s our hard earned money. Y did u take money for zero services. ANC. FYI I paid for incar lessons this year

My driving instructor was Tricia. She taught me so well and I went from knowing practically nothing to being a pretty decent driver (in her opinion she’d probably say I’m really good ????????). She is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met and is so understanding. There’s never a dull moment lol. I was so scared that it would be awkward, but straight from the start I was so comfortable driving with her. She never freaks out if you do a small mess up and she’s so kind. If you want someone who will teach you but also give you a bellyache from laughing too much, then I’d definitely recommend her. Ps. Trish I know you’re reading this lmao.

Arranging in car lessons is impossible; I have been asking for availabilities for over a month to continue with my in car and have gotten no response. Along with that, the instructor I was assigned felt it was appropriate to yell at me to the point of tears every time I was in the car with him. I would not recommend the Southern Ontario experience to anyone.

Great small classroom size and the hours were very great. They have weekday classes or weekends (which I did). My driving instructor was very helpful, accommodated my availability, friendly and knowledgeable. He was also very by-the-book which was great because it makes for being a better driver and prepares you for the driving test to get your license.

To start off, I'll be completely frank...the in-class lessons felt pointless, at first. Maybe it was just my experience and the teacher I had, but they were incredibly boring and I found it hard to focus because of this. It seemed like the last thing the teacher wanted to do was be there. Come to my in-car lessons, I was a bit nervous because of the negative experience with in-class lessons. What if the instructor I got was just as unenthusiastic? That would only stress me out more. I was lucky enough to have Charles as my instructor. He was encouraging, kind, and (most importantly) enthusiastic, and did everything to up my confidence (not overly so, of course). I am overly pleased to have had him. Every mistake I made was discussed and explained, but never frowned upon or judged. While I didn't have much confidence in passing my exam, he definitely did, and, as was made apparent today upon getting my N, it was not misplaced. In the end, I was always excited for lessons and I think that's important; I'll miss them! If other instructors there are anything like him, I can't recommend these lessons enough. They totally made up for the in-class lessons while also making me realize why both sets of lessons are important to begin with.

Fantastic organization! It is clear that their main concern is safety and education, as a pose to other driving schools whose main focus tends to be on pass rates of G2 tests. The instructors are highly trained, excellent teachers. The instruction goes above-and-beyond, touching on neurosciences on the teenage brain to help drive-home the risk of danger by age. It's been a few years since I took my course, but I still hear my instructor's voice while I'm on the road, telling me what to do and how to improve (I believe his name was Matt Haddid). I couldn't recommend this place more!

I would highly recommend Young Drivers to anyone interested in learning how to drive. My instructor for the in-class and in-car is Keith. For the in-class portion, I learned a lot about safety and fundamentals for driving which I was also able to apply to when I got in the car for my in-car classes, or even just when I was practicing with my parents. During all of the in-car lessons that I have had so far, I have improved a lot and feel more confident about taking my g2 test.

With COVID-19, the classroom portion was online. Her instructor was methodical and provided my teen with a great experience. In car lessons were even better. I 100% recommend Young Drivers to anyone who is learning to drive, the experience I had with this organization exceeded my expectations. In terms of in-class it was really nice to be in such a small group (1 of 7 students) which enabled more one on one time with the teacher (Ted who is a funny and welcoming person that always made learning easy and fun) to ask any questions I had. Not only were there a variety of interactive methods of teaching but I was provided with a booklet that contains everything I learned (which I still look through to this day). Once I began my lessons I was had the opportunity to meet Aron who was my instructor for every session. not only was he flexible in terms of my availability but he was very calm and professional. His ability to explain things in a mellow manner allowed me to remain relaxed and feel more in control while operating the vehicle. Before this course, I was mortified of jumping behind the wheel. Because I was taught the correct skill set and eased into the physical aspect I now can say for sure I am a safe and confident driver. The skills I learned not only prepared me for my test but as well equipped me with the knowledge of a safe driver for my future. I can not begin to express my gratitude toward Young Drivers and the people who make everything run so smoothly.

I had an amazing experience with Rick as my driving instructor. He gave me confidence and was very knowledgeable about road safety. However on my very last drivers MOCK test, I was put with a different instructor. Ron Pringle made me feel uncomfortable and insecure about my abilities. There seems to be a vast difference between the the instructors ways of teaching and expectations. My parents paid a lot of money for young drivers and we were very disappointed with the results. On top of that cancelled three of my lessons pushing me back more than a month. This experience shook my confidence and brought down my driving skills. This is not what we payed for!

They are very disorganized, from the first day we went to class there was no one at the lication. They said i didnt finish the e-learning when i did and when i called to do my G2 they said that i had missed some in class lessons, but i went to all of them. So i cant get my certification. This was a waste of money.

I took my driving sessions with Bernier's driving school, and I passed the RT very quickly. But I sent my wife to young drivers thinking that she would get a waiver when applying for insurance. Joining her for the course with YD was the worst mistake that happened in my life. A considerable amount of money was spent for the class, and she learned nothing. I found from her that the instructor, Dominique, was always on his phone, texting, and never bothered to correct his student. She also mentioned that the instructor, Dominique, was also very rude to her, sometimes even shouting at her. After doing in-car sessions with Dominque, she was pretty depressed and lost her interest. I had to teach her driving and also had a tough time to build her confidence. Also, never expect to pass even if you are an experienced driver when you are going for the road test through YD. They will definitely fail you and ask you to do additional in-car sessions with YD. They are doing money making business and is worthless. Never ever go for YD I will give a big zero rating.

I do not recommend them. They are not only expensive but poor service as compared to the money. They always dropped me 10-15 minutes early of my lesson time. They are just popular with their name but highly disappointed service. Every lesson I took they drove me Aberdeen to battle or other streets then allowed me to drive. If I am a beginner learner that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t let me drive on main roads in my all five lessons.

To start off, I'll be completely frank...the in-class lessons felt pointless, at first. Maybe it was just my experience and the teacher I had, but they were incredibly boring and I found it hard to focus because of this. It seemed like the last thing the teacher wanted to do was be there. Come to my in-car lessons, I was a bit nervous because of the negative experience with in-class lessons. What if the instructor I got was just as unenthusiastic? That would only stress me out more. I was lucky enough to have Charles as my instructor. He was encouraging, kind, and (most importantly) enthusiastic, and did everything to up my confidence (not overly so, of course). I am overly pleased to have had him. Every mistake I made was discussed and explained, but never frowned upon or judged. While I didn't have much confidence in passing my exam, he definitely did, and, as was made apparent today upon getting my N, it was not misplaced. In the end, I was always excited for lessons and I think that's important; I'll miss them! If other instructors there are anything like him, I can't recommend these lessons enough. They totally made up for the in-class lessons while also making me realize why both sets of lessons are important to begin with.

However, I can't tell the same about Mark Mitchell, he is the WORSE instructor ever, showed up late for my test and was very rude to me. Just witnessed an interview for driving instructor, during this your company offered weeks of unpaid training, insulting compensation for the job AND you want the instructor to recommend 5 extra weeks of training for the client so you can boost your bottom line. All this to give the instructor an additional $2 per session? Or maybe a gas card? Is this accurate?...... Either way, this is a joke and I have no problems letting your clients know about it. Then while your company is talking to me about this matter, you block me. Very professional.

Amazing program! I took the full program package with my Learner's liscence. The in-class sessions were super informative and gave me a full understanding of driving, it's risks, using your car efficiently and safely, and to keep it in great condition. The in-car sessions are a great way to gain practice time on the roads, in parking lots, and doing emergency maneuvers to build confidence in new or experienced drivers. All the instructors are very friendly, encouraging, and make a comfortable and safe environment for the students. I shouldn’t because she needs some time for her but I strongly suggest Jean To anyone who needs an instructor. This woman could not have been more inviting and welcoming. I love jean as she was always a positive attitude, she really takes pride in her job position as an instructor to know she has taught the course so all students really do get the right kind of learning. I had the most amazing experience with young drivers. I was at another driving school a year ago and the experience was not great at all. Unfortunately the instructor made me nervous and I already suffer from anxiety. With them I failed my first test. I tried again with a little more confidence but still didn’t pass. At this point I was nervous to take it again. My lessons where over with them and for a while I didn’t drive. Since I drove with them for my first time, driving was an absolute nightmare. I had no confidence and was shaky most of the time. At first signing up for the young drivers I was nervous. I didn’t have a great experience the first time with the other driving school so I wasn’t sure. But my lessons where just the best ever. I wasn’t nervous or had anxiety and thanx to them I realized driving is actually fun. With them I passed immediately my N and I couldn’t be more happy that I chose them. Thank you. You guys do such an amazing job to ensure that the students enjoy driving as well as learn. You make sure that it’s fun as well as safe. I felt secure and sure about myself and the result is that I have my confidence back. I would recommend young drivers to anyone who is starting to drive. Thank you again ????

I really enjoyed this. I felt like I learned a lot and am a safe driver. I'm not worried about my driving skills and I feel like I am well prepared for bad decisions made by other drivers. Young drivers is expensive but worth the money because they're the only school that teach defensive driving. If everyone took these classes we wouldn't have to worry about collisions and cost of insurance would go way down. My driving instructor was nice and professional, he was always on time and always made me feel safe while learning.

The classroom sessions were fun because the instructor was entertaining (though we had 3 and only 1 was good). My in-vehicle instructor was Trevor Bolger and he was great. I was fairly new to driving (only once in the city and a few times in Gander) but he made it easy to understand, kept me from becoming stressed out and explained things in a clear and concise manner. Before contacting Young Drivers I spent a lot of money on lessons with a few different driving companies and failed my g2 test three times. I would get very nervous before the exam which would negatively affect my performance every time. My instructor Matt not only helped me improve on my driving, but he was also extremely calm and gave helpful and positive feedback, which gave me the confidence I needed to finally pass my g2 test. As always I cannot give 5-star rating because there is always one thing that was a minor inconvenience, and in this case the only issue I had was the extreme amount of time between in car sessions, I would have to wait for two to three weeks before I could get back into the car with my instructor. Aside from that I had no difficulties or issues with Young Drivers and would recommend it to everyone, good teachers, extensive program, and a friendly atmosphere are my most prominent memories from my experience here.

Young Drivers of Canada is definitely the best place to go if you are interested in getting your license, or just want a bit more practice in order to be safer on the road. Young Drivers teaches you how to be 100% collision free; even if the collision isn't considered to be your fault. They give you the proper methods on how to keep space between you and other vehicles so it less likely that a collision will happen. Also, they are one of the only driving schools in Stratford that takes you downtown where it is busy so you can be ready in any circumstance. I had Jean as both my in-class and in-car instructor; she is amazing. She comes to work everyday with a big smile on her face and makes sure that all her students leave with one as well. She works hard so that both the classroom and the car are the most welcoming learning environments as possible. She also went to great extents to make sure my experience was incredible and I am forever grateful to her for this reason. I highly recommend Young Drivers of Canada.

I warn against booking your driving training here. The number of cancellations and rebookings from Young Drivers caused my son to be 2 days over the year to complete the driver training. And then they told him that they could not submit his credentials to show on his driving record because he was over a year! It was admittedly their fault but they did nothing to help other than give a half hearted apology and offer to have him take the class sessions again. That helps a lot. A kid who works on the weekends to save for university is going to give up 4 more weekends to take a class that he already took because this organizations lack of organization. It is appalling, unprofessional and in my mind highly unethical. I have asked other parents about their experience and the same thing occurred to 3 other kids we know. I can only assume that they pay a fee to MTO to submit credentials and this is their way of swindling clients. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else for driver training. There are a few other certified places nearby that I have heard good things about. Also most of the positive reviews on here look like they were written by the same person.

In-car lessons will teach important skills to be a safe driver on the road and also helps the new driver gain confidence in their driving skills - which is very important for the road test. I passed my road test the first time despite me being unable to practice my driving beside Young Drivers. Special thanks to Tina DeVries for her patience and teachings. I have been driving for 2 weeks now and I feel more confident on the road because of what I learned and practiced at Young Drivers.

I am at a loss. Website just does NOT work. They NEVER answer the phone. I have been trying for almost a week, calling daily to book the third driving lesson, and it has just been impossible. Course paid for in full, and we cannot get a hold of anyone to actually book the lessons. I am truly disappointed in the customer service and communication. For something that cost me over 1100.00....I would expect them to answer the phone during business hours at least once a week. In class lesson were complete November 26th. We are almost March and cannot get the third lesson booked, this is insane.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!Started in feb at the Halifax location and didn’t get into the car until May and didn’t finish until September, this is unsat took way to long to get into a car for lessons. I would personally shop around before going with young drivers as they over book class time and make you wait months to get into a vehicle. I was basically reassigned a schedule a week prior to when I was supposed to have lessons.. they canceled a lesson and never were on time, my driving instructor actually picked me up from a gas station and didn’t think to fuel the vehicle prior to letting me start the lesson. Instead he waited until 10 mins before my road test to decide that we needed to get fuel! This was the second time he took up paid time for lessons and took his sweet time to fill up the car. This should be done prior to a lesson and they should also show up on time and if late add that time to the end of the lesson. This of course was not done.. so all this to say do not use young drivers they are a horrible business and they will never get my recommendation, as they don’t care about there students and just want your money.

I had great driving lessons with Keith. He was patient and nice. He taught me about "good habits" and he repeatedly instructed me down the smallest details until these habits become second nature to me. I learned a lot about being safe when driving, since cars are not the only ones that use the road, and we should respect pedestrians and cyclists. Additionally, the car used for the lessons was nice and Keith was always on time. The price was a little bit steep but I think it was a good investment since it is important to be a competent and save driver. Most of these habits are not the norms that you see in everyday life, it's like learning a completely different way of driving!

The course very thoroughly covers all you need to know between the in class sessions and in car lessons. I started as a fairly anxious driver, and as I went through my lessons I became more confident in my ability to handle any situation I encountered on the road and my ability to perceive risks early and manage them. The relaxed atmosphere is also helpful, and him talking plus the radio gives you some practice multitasking. Driving is pretty easy and smooth, I'm learning everything in the book. Despite being a bit expensive, Young Drivers of Canada is the most established, organized and responsible driver training school in Newfoundland and Labrador (and probably all across Canada) and I think it is worth the fee you pay for compared to other driver training schools in NL. Before finally choosing Young Drivers, I tried another diver training school for budget reasons and unfortunately, my money was wasted without satisfactory result, because of very disorganized, unprofessional and irresponsible way of running business. The main issue is that many driver training schools in NL even don't have enough staff for answering phone calls, replying to e-mails and setting up efficient website. And the reason is that their whole business includes just a few driving instructors and nobody else! It seems that Young Drivers of Canada is the only driver training school in NL (and probably all across Canada) that in addition to having qualified and experienced driving instructors, it could also afford to hire some qualified staff just for communication purposes and setting up an efficient website so you can make sure that you get all the relevant information you are looking for and your questions getting answered.

My lessons with Aaron at Young Drivers helped tremendously to find confidence in my abilities behind the wheel, and overcome the anxieties of taking the road test. The Road Test package in particular is an amazing service that goes a long way towards making sure you succeed in your test. Being able to go out for a mini practice test just before the official road test (as a refresher of what to/not to do, and familiarize yourself with the vehicle you'll be taking the test in) was a huge confidence booster. I'll admit that there's a chance I could've done fine practicing my driving and taking the road test on my own, but with Young Drivers I ensured it, and passed my road test with ease! If you have any anxieties about driving (or more specifically, taking the road test), do yourself a favor and at least consider Young Drivers to help you through it!
