Here you will see all the information of people who purchased the services of Tecnic Montreal Downtown Driving school (Driving School) in Châteauguay (Canada).
At present the business gets a score of 2.3 stars over 5 and this score has been based on 36 reviews.
As you can see its rating is very scarce, and it is founded on a large number of scores, so we may say that the assessment is quite credible. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they've done well with the service, it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to give reviews when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Driving School is classified in the category of Driving school.
A good school. However they will charge you 30 dollars for a cancellation unless you cancel prior to 48 hours. Out of my 27 sessions I had to cancel one due to an emergency yet they charged 30 dollars even after justifying my emergency.
If I had a dollar every time I called and got hung up on... I have paid online and not heard back from them. I called them, got hung up on. Did that several times and got hung up on every time. I even get "Ecole Tecnic un instant." and then got hung up on. Tried emailing them, no answer.
Awful front desk receptionist. Very unprofessional behavior. She does not care to help you. She will insult you, trigger you to get confused and nervous and then she will teach you how to talk. She will not listen to you but will make you listen to her in a very rude and impolite manner. The teachers of this school are good but after talking to the front desk person, you will not have the mood to go further. I will never recommend anyone to join Technic Downtown. I have wasted my money. Will not continue anymore.
(Translated) Good school and I have never had a negative experience with teachers. On the contrary, the state of the class is absolutely unacceptable. There is no open window, no ventilation even when it is 25-30 degrees in the summer. This made the lessons extremely painful. Imagine 30 people in a very small local in summer without air, it's disgusting. Everyone sweat. And the offices are clearly from another century, everything is excessively old, damaged and the size of the desks is tiny. The room is so small that it's impossible to get around almost without asking 2-4 people to get up to get some space. With all the money they make, I find it really ridiculous. They have only ONE class, the cool with modern offices that take up less space and add a fan would not hurt. But clearly they do not care.
Where do I begin? The pro's: I received my refund in whole and within the 2 week timeframe guaranteed The con's: I did not expect this level of unprofessionalism and slackness from a driving school listed on SAAQ. 1. I was called to tell me to come collect the "text book" from the school and per the website, they say they were open till 6:00 PM. I call the receptionist and after 28 mins on being on hold, she tells me she needs to leave at 4 so she will close early & committed to being open till 5:00 PM the next day. Since I work late on the weekdays, my husband left work early to go collect the book on my behalf, and of course she wasn't there again. I called in and whoever answered said that the receptionist must have left AND SHE DOESNT KNOW WHY and that I have to try again the next day.... I never got the book 2. When I called in to get a refund because of how tired I was of the level of service, I was on hold for another 30 mins and then gave feedback regarding the quality of service and was told "you anyway now are not going to take part in the service". 3. When it was time to get my cheque back, the lady who calls me goes off on a French rant.. I explained to her many times that I am not fully well-versed with French and to please let me know in English.... SHE SPOKE FULLY IN FRENCH... I just remember repeating everything I "assumed" she was saying in English. I would not recommend this school to anyone searching. The level of unprofessionalism is appalling. 3 different days, 3 different excuses for closing early and sitting on hold for an average of 20 mins each time just to be given a "I dont know why" reason.
(Translated) Where to start... I would first like to start with the positive, which concerns only the teachers who give the theoretical courses. I alternated between the Côte-des-neiges school and the one in the city center and I have always found that the theoretical lessons were given in a good mood during the 2 hours. On the other hand, with regard to the practical courses, there is clearly a lack of involvement on the part of the instructors in the success of the permit. For example, I recently took a refresher course because I will be passing the final exam soon and I did not feel comfortable on the road as I do not have the opportunity to practice at home. The instructor looked clearly annoyed that he didn't know parking maneuvers and other little things that I'm "supposed to know" by heart before taking the final exam. And after realizing that I didn't master parking, he came to say that "at worst parking doesn't count for much in the exam" so basically he didn't have much to do with it that I know of. park at the end of the course ... but this is just the experience of one course among many. Then, I noticed that in the 2 schools I went to alternately, the receptionists were impatient all the time and we felt that they did not want to be there. They also have a certain way of addressing people which I find quite unpleasant. Also I think the major problem is the availability for the practical courses. We end up with either the choice of adapting and having to free ourselves on certain dates that do not suit us, or we choose a day that suits us but we have to wait 1 month. In any case, a friend of mine is enrolled in another school (which I will not quote) and he says he doesn't have any of the problems just mentioned.

Professional staff, organized classes and good results. I'm very satisfied with the service.
We had a bad experience at Tecnic. The theory classes were fine. Boring and a waste of time but there’s nothing that Tecnic can do about it. The curriculum is set by the government. What really made the experience bad were the in-car classes and when it came time to go for the road test. Tecnic kept cancelling and rescheduling our in-car classes with very little notice. Also, each in-car session was with a random instructor. No consistency. When it came time for my road test, Tecnic was not helpful when I wanted to rent a car. They told me “Sorry we can’t rent a car at that SAAQ location, you have to call another Tecnic location.” I ended up renting a car from another school. For my girlfriend’s road test, she was turned away by the SAAQ because of bad paperwork. She had to waste an entire half day waiting for the test only to be told she wasn’t allowed to take the test because Tecnic provided her with a bad attestation. She was told she had to go to the Tecnic location downtown to get the right paperwork after she tried at the location near the SAAQ. What a waste of time. Also because like me, she rented a car from another school, that money was wasted too. We recommend going to a different driving school. Look for one with good ratings. We regret choosing Tecnic.
(Translated) Very good school I recommend it (Original) Très bonne école je la recommande
old class, horrbible teacher. But the receptionist is awesome. God bless her. Sirin is the best
(Translated) Refresher course : I had Dris Hakima as my instructor, she was great! She prepared me very well for the exam.
(Translated) First course online and pending for 40 minutes! No one has responded in the office since that time. We hang up right away. I assume that a refund request is reasonable after this kind of service.
The star I'm putting for this school is ONLY because of the teacher present at night. The secretary that is supposed to support and help the students with the courses and administrate the hours has been nothing but impolite with me and my friend. She has made so many mistakes and blames it on the student instead of finding ways to make things better. I had NEVER felt so insulted in my LIFE by someone who works in the customer service department! It's a shame.
good driving school thinks for all
Truly one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I requested an attestation in order to change to a driving school that was closer to me, that had a lot more course availabilities than tecnic and offers classes in English. Anglophones beware, this school claims to provide courses and services in English, however good luck finding English courses or even speaking to someone on the phone in English, it’s a struggle. I was informed by the AQTR (Association Québécoise des transports) that an attestation was simply a printed and signed record of all completed courses, however tecnic chose to stretch it to the maximum 10 business days they are legally entitled to due to the fact they were unhappy I was withdrawing from their school. The school phoned to say that my attestation would be ready to pick up on the Wednesday, however I received a call the same day saying the person who was supposed to have brought my attestation to the downtown location did not show up, so I would yet again have to take time out of my day the following day to go all the way downtown to pick up a printed paper. As I was already almost at the downtown location the following day, I get a call saying that they have “misplaced my file” which is funny because anytime they want payment, they’re quick to find my file. I was then told that if I wanted to have my attestation (which they had already promised a day earlier) then I would have to go all the way to the Langelier tecnic location or else I would have to wait again until the following week to pick it up at a location near me. I wanted to never deal with them again, so I went all the way to the Langelier location to pick up my attestation, despite being inconvenienced now for the 3rd time. Once I got there to retrieve my documents, I had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with a “Chantal” who greeted me with an eyeroll. She was aggressive, rude and would not assist me unless I spoke to her in French. When I asked her why it was necessary for me to come all the way to the Langelier location when I had signed up at the downtown location, she was quick to tell me that it was my choice to come all the way there despite it being their mistake; absolutely no accountability. This school is classless and frankly a joke, I would not recommend either of these tecnic locations and would not wish this nightmare on anyone.
Worse service I have ever seen. They booked me for course that I had already made or made me do course that I could not do (they did not respect the SAAQ order), so I went there for nothing and lost a lot of time. This kind os situation happend multiple time (3). Avoid going there.
(Translated) Worst driving school. I will not be able to finish before my student exchange, even though I have been promised that it would be possible. 1 hour of waiting on the phone each time I call, return of message in 5 days or more on the internet.
I paid money for phase 2 yet I didn't attend classes, they have not refunded me..i don't reccomend at all....worst driving school in montreal
Very impolite and rude secretary at the downtown location. She will put all the blame on the students. They cancelled the classes but do not send any reminders or email, such a waste of money, time and energy.Highly unprofessional, feeling shocked, insulted and is never treated by someone in this manner in my entire life by customer support. Secretary was supposed to clear the doubts, instead blames in a very rude way. Will not suggest anyone or rather prevent people from going to this location.
I had my first class on road. It was perfect. The instructor was nice and patient but really did not teach me a lot of techniques of driving. I thought he just wanted me to get that better feeling of driving. At my second class, I had a car accident. I had a different instructor this time and he was so rude to me. I tried to say Hi to him and ask his name. He was like 'you have my name on your schedule. Why don't you just look up to your phone'. I was like 'All right, so let's just start the class'. So since I started off the car, this instructor kept giving me attitude and did not talk at all except complaining me that I hadn't learned anything at the first class. I payed him to teach me how to drive not to complain that I didn't know how to keep centered in the road. While I'm driving, he picked up a phone call which stressed me out because I had been driving only for 30 mins in my life and that person just didn't care about that. So finally I hit a car as he wanted. I made my complains to the driving school but the receptionist couldn't do much about it. I ended up changing instructor and postponed my schedule to the end of June instead of finishing at early June. Worst experience ever. Not recommended at least not this location.
wow! i can't believe all these negative comments that people have written. i've had nothing but amazing service at this school. the monitors are great. if ever you decide to take courses there (while ignoring these negative comments) i would recommend Ali and Ihab! they've been nothing but efficient with me when i took my courses. as for the receptionist, cut her some slack!! do any of you know how hard it is to be a receptionist? how many clients they help in a day? all your negative comments make me feel like you guys have been badly raised by your parents. i have nothing bad to say about her. she's been nothing but sweet and patient with me. this school and the receptionist, both deserve 5 stars. keep it up!! :)
