Albert was my driving instructor, and he was fantastic. He always gave me things to improve and practice for next time. Albert was extremely professional, and also took the time to get to know me. Although my instructor was amazing, I had reoccurring communication issues with the manager Peter. Also, the main payment was sent to a yahoo account, which is also slightly sketchy. However I learned very effective skills and the overall experience was worth while!!

Great class, took this as a new driver. Barry was a great teacher who gave us lots of tips and advice, he's been driving for years and can help you answer everything needed to know. Peter is an AMAZING driving instructor, was very patient, very clear on what I needed to do and had lots of time to inform me with any questions or bookings I needed. Peter also gave me a demonstration on how my driving test would look like, areas, communities, etc. Thank you for this opportunity taking this class.

Very irresponsible team, when I was doing my theorical classes we were in a specific classroom the next day they changed classrooms and all my classmates were notified about it except me. When I started with my driving lessons, from the very first day the driving instructor was expecting me to already know how to drive, which is ironic since the reason why i paid $714.00 is because I don't know how to drive! Very bad service in general, i would not recommend this place at all.

I had my lessons with Peter, He was very punctual and on my scheduled time (always 10 mins early), observe Covid precautions, he was very good in giving respectful and constructive feedbacks,he is patient and knowledgeable teacher. I had productive lessons with him and he showed me how to do parallel parking tricks which I have difficulty of, his techniques in teaching stick into my mind right away. He went above and beyond in helping me PASS my driving road test in one try. Thank you Peter! I surely will recommend you to my friends and people I know. Thank you again. I had Peter as my instructor and he is great! Very punctual and helpful. He took me driving around a bunch of residential areas in the SW and SE, as well as downtown Calgary. We also drove through different possible routes for the Shawnessy Registry roadtest. With his help, I was able to pass my road test!

I never drove before and tried to learn with husband (bad idea lol) The classes were very educational. I was concern about understanding Peter because of my English, but he made sure everyone understood by writing some difficult words in the board. And the class with Barry was great! His experience as a former police officer give us the real world perspective, I read in one of the comments that somebody's son didn't learn anything, maybe he was expecting a class telling him everything is fun at driving, but the reality is you are in responsible for driving a vehicle that can cause an accident and leave someone seriously injured. Real life experiences makes you understand the what can happen if we don't do it right. Barry taught me not just how to drive, but to grow confidence in myself (he was confident that I could do it, way before I did) and took away my fear of driving. I recommend this school to everyone that really wants to learn how to do it right and ask for Barry :)

Sai is the best instructor ever. When my daughter was struggling to park, Sai had gave her very detailed instructions on how to parallel park, perpendicular park and even uphill and downhill. He had also taught my son too. They both passed happily! Would highly recommend Sai in this registry!

I would definitely recommend this place for student drivers, especially for those who's new like white paper (limited driving experiences) and for those who really want to be a safe drivers ( want to know good driving habits). I attended three driving schools in Calgary , this Shawnessay is the best. Why? 1. price is affordable, driving instructors are friendly, kind & knowledgeable, good services in general. Few years ago, I was with Driving 101 school, first class my instructor at that time took me to downtown although I talked her I was a totally new driver, never operated an vehicle in my life. She did not really show me how to drive in the beginning and she yelled and panic when I needed her help. 2. Driving instructors are really engaged when you were practicing with them, they taught you how to do turning properly, how to stop smoothly, how to do a proper lane change, how to do a good parking and they did teach you almost exact two hours, and they corrected your bad driving habits. My second instructor at Driving 101 was a good guy, but he did not teach me, he literally just sat beside me. My second driving school, the instructor always requested a break and always checking his text messages... he was decent because he taught me something just not working as hard as Peter and Albert at Shawnessy Driving school. 3. Their in-class reviewing class is very helpful to brush up your driving knowledge after computer exam. I passed my road test with first attempt. If I can make it, you will make it with Shawnessy Driving school ( with Peter and Albert, especially do a brush-up with Peter you won't get disappointed)

How unprofessional of the instructor who reclines back in the passenger seat when they have a student and he rests his hand/arm over the back test of the student driver? I have witnessed this in the Somerset area a couple of times now. If there was a car number I would report but I can't see one. I would not use this company if this is how they instruct.

We absolutely loved how Sai and Peter communicated with our daughter. They communicated clearly and it allowed her to grow in her independence as a young adult. Sai was always on time and encouraging with all lessons. Our daughter also rented their car for her road test and was able to complete it on her first try! I had a wonderful experience with my instructor Barry. He taught me everything I needed to know about driving to feel comfortable behind the wheel. He was very patient, helpful, and kind. After I felt like I understood driving well enough we had great conversations and laughs. Made my scary expirence learning to drive a lot less stressful. As for the in class work it’s not very interesting but it’s only a Saturday - Sunday then it’s over with so that’s nice. If you book lessons- ask for Barry!!

My husband and I took brush up classes with Peter, based on reviews here. Indeed, he turned out to be an amazing instructor and yes, we passed our road tests! He was patient, clear in teaching road rules and most importantly very respectful. Just before finding Peter I have taken one brush up class with another company, where the instructor was talking very disrespectfully the whole time and trying to lower my confidence in driving (although I have 10+ yrs of experience). Peter was encouraging and kind. Strongly recommend him!

I had a mixed experience with the driving school. On one hand, the lessons were practical and provided me with much-needed confidence. I was told exactly what I needed to do and how to do it. I was also given a few soft drinks, which were awesome. On the other hand, my classes were constantly rescheduled and my instructor was on his phone often. We also would go to other student's houses and have them drive us around before and after the lessons.

Took a 2 hour brush-up course with Peter and he did a great job of reminding me of important little details that catch people out on their driving test. He was very knowledgeable and took me on 2 very similar routes to the test administered by the Shawnessy license and registry. Communication was prompt and he did not mind any scheduling issues that came up on my end. Very pleased with the results of my driving exam.

If you choose to do Shawnessy Driving Lessons, I would highly recommend requesting Barry as an instructor. He is extremely informative, kind and always open to answering questions. At the beginning of our lessons driving was really stressful for me, and he was able to help me get over that fear. Barry is extremely knowledgeable, and an overal funny person. He made my driving lessons fun, while still teaching me how to safely drive :)
