Having driven for almost 60 years, ICBC required my 75 year old husband to complete an Enhanced Road Assessment - a very thorough 1 hour road test. Coaching a seasoned driver who has picked up some bad habits is definitely more challenging than teaching a new driver! Rain was patient and encouraging while providing clear constructive feedback and easy ways to remember the key practices required for passing the test. I’ve worked with Raincity Driving school on two occasions now. First to obtain my N and then I took a few lessons to brush up right before obtaining my Class 5 license. The instructors are patient and accommodating - they will try to teach you the same thing multiple ways until they find something that works for you. They are also much more reasonably priced than some of the other driving schools around which helps you afford as many lessons as you need to be comfortable on the road. If you are thinking about learning to drive or are just refreshing your skills, I would definitely recommend Raincity Driving.

I learned to drive later in life and had a lot of anxiety about driving in general. My instructor (Rain) exceeded any possible expectations I could have for a teacher. I learned in way fewer classes than I anticipated, I left my lessons feeling calm behind the wheel and skilled. I’ve now been driving for a year and feel like a good safe driver. No accidents and great defensive driving skills. Truly wonderful service and excellent instruction from Rain. I recommend this driving school to anyone needing to learn but particularly for anxious people. My anxiety was respected and understood but also Rain worked to ensure it didn’t hold me back. I used RainCity to supplement my driving lessons, as I felt the lesson package I bought from Young Drivers was not comprehensive enough. I had Robert as my instructor, and he was an excellent instructor. He was very patient, explained things very clearly and was extremely easy going and calm even when I made mistakes. He was extremely amicable, patient and made all of my lessons straight forward, but informative and fun. I would highly recommend Raincity and Robert to anyone looking for an affordable driving school and one that will teach you the skills you need to pass your road test. I passed my Road test on the first try, and I'd say 80% of that success is due to what I learned from my lessons with Robert.

I took lessons from RainCity Driving School from November till January. Rain was my instructor for all my lessons, he is super professional, tells me exactly what I need to work on and he is also really chill! I learned a lot from him. Doel was my instructor for my exam day, he is super informative and supportive, he really helped me calm my nerves and I managed to pass with flying colours with the help from both of them :). (This is coming from someone who has not stepped foot in a car for 10 years!!) The pricing for the school is very reasonable! Also they are great with answering questions via text/calling and they're always there for you. I would 100% recommend!! If you need your license asap, go for them!

Rain is the best instructor ever! 2 years ago, I was so eager to get my N. So, my aunt recommended that I should take lessons with Rain as she was also taking lessons with him. I purchased a 12 hour packaged and honestly the price you paid was all worth it! Rain is very friendly, patient and sometimes funny LOL He gives you tips that will definitely help you in the future like parking techniques. He also gives you the power to make your own decisions in the road and will also give you constructive critisism when you make mistakes. After 2 years, I got my Class 5 license! All thanks to Rain again! I took 3 one hour lessons with him -- which were very helpful because if I didn't I would definitely fail my road test. During our 1st lesson, he immediately pointed out my bad habits and correct it. ???? I highly recommend that you take lessons with one of RainCity Driving School Instructors. I had Rain as my instructor and passed my Class 7 Road Test on my first try! Coming into lessons, I was an especially nervous driver with very little experience on the road. Rain not only helped me become a safe driver but also boosted my confidence. Additionally, after every lesson, Rain wrote down pointers to work on for homework. It were those pointers after every lesson that gave me the courage/confidence to drive with my parents before my road test. I can’t thank Rain enough for all his help! I would highly recommend the RainCity Driving school and especially instructor Rain! He went above and beyond in explaining the basics in a very short time. I have booked 45 minute pre test which helped me a lot with getting acquainted with the area of the actual test. My experience with the school was nothing but amazing. Super happy to have had the chance to learn from Rain even for just one session the day right before my class 7 road test as I found it highly instructive & vital in helping me pass! Great pointers were brought to my attention for practice that prepared me well and made a lasting improvement to my road skills despite my booking for a last minute crash course (bad pun not-intended as it was a very safe driving experience with zero crashes haha ????). He listened to my main priorities of focus at the beginning & made instant adjustments to the mock run with those in mind, was well-versed with the testing routes and clearly addressed all my weaker maneuvers with practical feedback for correction. A thorough summary of the session along with pertinent advice is also emailed to you upon completion which I thought was nice to have for personal review afterwards. Another big kudos to the warm & friendly service from the kind ladies as well who were able to schedule me in on short notice based on a restricted availability, I could tell they cared to accommodate as best they could and the rates here are more than reasonable compared to others. All in all I'm very grateful to have come across RainCity and definitely plan to return for more lessons when getting ready for the class 5 in the future! ????

I came to Canada and had to take the road test for having my oversea driving license evaluated into class 5 license. I booked 3 practice sessions and that was really great experience and very helpful to have myself prepared by Rain. He is patient, precise and takes care about your preparation. He gives you test tips but also practical tips so you can end up being better driver in general. All your questions will be answered in a clear manner. I passed at the first attempt and would recommend RainCity to anyone. Pricing is also very affordable and the fact you can book the car for a road test makes life easier if you don't have yours.

In life I never thought to obtain and have this moment, in order to have what was offered to me after I got my L, so I accepted and was introduced to Raincity Driving School Ltd. I was then trained by both Doel & Rain. First was Doel, who showed simple basics, was patient, respectful, very punctual and on point, explained everything and gave great examples behind the scenes, easy understandable diagrams, and even quizzed to make sure I understood what I was doing before I did it, in the automobile and how to and not to do certain things behind the wheel that could jeopardize my chances. after 7 lessons in Rain was very to the point, he showed a lot of how to's and what to do in the automobile he made good points and notes as I would keep learning under my belt I highly recommend this school to learn if you want to drive successfully. I have given a good 5 or so ppl to set up their lessons with Doel & Rain in person. My time with Raincity Driving School Ltd was over 11 lessons hands on with great acknowledgement and understanding in order how to pass to get my N. near to the end a few bumps in the road on my side cause I was not as serious as I should have been but overall everything was amazing with both fo them. in the end on the 9th to 11th lesson Rain gave me a few mach tests, explained the ways to pass how examiners would mark you, and had a lot of faith in order to pass, I knew I could do this and was very lucky to complete and pass with a 90% mark from my ICBC Examiner to receive my N. It was a great experience and couldn't be happier when they both look out for your safety and courteous to understand your needs. A happy student right here graduated behind the wheel, no word of a lie over 24 years to attempt and I got it on the first try. Thanks Raincity Driving School. I am so thankful!!

Honestly I cannot sing enough praises. I'd been meaning to get my license for years, but without a vehicle to do so or any friends or family members able to teach me or help me practice, I'd just never gotten the chance. My first lesson I was a nervous anxious mess. The instructor was patient and understanding and by the end of all of my lessons, I was a nervous and anxious mess who knew how to drive and how to stay calm and react well despite my anxiety. I now have my N and feel far more comfortable behind the wheel and confident that with enough practice that I'll be able to pass the next road test in a couple of years. They are also flexible and understanding of schedule and I was able to work around my work schedule with very little interruption. I highly recommend to anyone looking for good driving instructors.

Rain was my driving instructor. He was always very patient and calm and informative. My lessons were in Burnaby, near Brentwood mall but my test was at a pop-up clinic (due to COVID backlog of appointments) in New West. I passed and got my N after my 6th lesson with Rain, which goes to show that it's not about how well you know the road and test area, but about how well you were taught and having situational awareness of the road around you and the rules of the road.

Unfortunately the lady Roanne picked up while I was wanting to schedule some classes with her, and she just had no straight forward information about any of my questions. I am giving them 3 stars because it wouldn't be fair to rate them with less since I did not take a lesson with them. I am rating them with 3 because of their costumer service. First time I called on a TUESDAY and they immediately asked me to send all my details by text, which was totally okay and I did. Then, I sent a text with my availability, city and amount of training hours that I needed. At 1:30 pm I decided to call again because there was no confirmation that they had received the text, so I called and there was no answer but I got a text saying: "I'll call you back". Around 7pm I was informed that they were working on my schedule. Finally around 8pm they were able to propose some training hours for me (which I appreciate because I know how busy they are). Then I immediately asked for the prices, and they got back to me until the next morning (WEDNESDAY) around 7am with the prices. After reviewing the prices I confirmed my availability and was ready to go ahead (I responded at 8am). They did not get back to me so at 1:48 pm I sent another text asking them to please confirm as soon as possible because I needed to make arrangements at my job (considering that the first scheduled training was the next day!), they unfortunately did not get back to me all day. Then on THURSDAY I received a text from a different phone number at 8:43 am from "my instructor" saying that he was running late , this was very confusing since there was NO CONFIRMATION AT ALL. So I immediately phoned the instructor explaining the situation and he told me this was actually good because he was running late. Then he kindly sent me the scheduled hours that he had on file and asked me if those worked for me (the hours that he had were wrong). At that point I was honestly so annoyed by the amount of miscommunication and lack of formality that I did not reply back and called a different school. Then today FRIDAY the original costumer service lady texts me at 5:16 am (seriously?...) apologizing for not being able to reply soon saying she "overlooked" my latest text and said everything was confirmed. I replied saying sorry but I had to book with another school because you didn't reply. In summary, IT IS NOT OKAY to keep a costumer waiting for DAYS. It is also not okay to text at completely random hours of the day and then not replying (8pm, 5:16am...). I REALLY wanted this school because the reviews are amazing, and I am sure the instructors are great, but being "busy" or "having too much demand" is NO EXCUSE to treat someone this way. I am attaching the screen shots of the texts because I am hoping that this will help this company to improve their Costumer Service. 1) Fairly priced and convenient meet up locations. 2) Joane the booking lady is very accommodating and works very hard to fit everyone in the schedule. 3) The instructors are great. They are patient and adjusts to personal learning styles. The only thing is I wish they taught manual as well. I will definitely come back for my class 5 road test refresher. He was very thorough with all the lessons I took. Doel also helped my girlfriend pass her road test. She previously took lessons with another school but was not pleased. I decided to book driving lessons for my son after reading positive reviews about RainCity Driving School. Since our experience was great, I decided to write a review as well, which is something I do not often do. I purchased a package and RainCity did a great job of booking lessons right up to the Road test for my son. Rain even took my son out the day before his road test, even though it was Sunday. Both instructors, Doel and Rain, were patient and very knowledgeable. After each lesson they would text my son with a list of items he needed to improve on. This list was very helpful when I took my son out to practice driving as we referenced the list for things to practice. My son got his ‘N’ on his first attempt because of the great lessons he received from RainCity. I will recommend RainCity Driving School for new drivers.

Raincity is probably the best driving school in the area, both for its staff and rates! What I enjoyed most.. 1) Joane was extremely helpful, very responsive, and worked very hard to match my requested schedule as closely as possible. 2) The two instructors I had, Rain and Robert, were both very helpful and gave good instructions and tips for both general driving as well as the tests. 3) They offer a lesson right before you take the test that was so helpful to iron out some nerves and correct some small issues. 10/10 would recommend RainCity Driving School. Affordable and efficient. I had Rain and Doel as my driving instructors. I enjoyed Rain's patients and the learning environment he provided, each lesson it proved efficient for my driving. He was sure to point out any bad habits or actions in a calming, non-judge mental manner. While driving on the road I think this is important, and one of the things I had feared would not happen before starting my lessons. At some point in time it didn't even feel like a lesson anymore, just a drive. The first time I met Rain I knew I would be comfortable learning from him, I really appreciate all the support I received. Thank you Rain! Doel assisted me with my pre-test lesson. He was able to ease my pre-test anxiety and correct any actions that wouldn't get me a pass. Doel also provided a wonderful learning environment that helped me get comfortable on the road. This is as far the best priced driving school there is.i only booked my driving lessons with Rain but I can say he was very good,he remained calm which helped me stay relaxed and calm though out the whole lesson,he also give good tips and he help me understand a lot about the rules the different types of intersections etc,he was also very frim when he had too and very very patient.i got that 6 hour package deal that they have and I can say it was worth the money. Awesome driving school. I passed my N test on the first try :))) Doel is so great! He is very nice and super patient, which is very helpful for learning drivers. He offers a lot of good advice regarding technique and skills. I was comfortable enough to ask questions, even ones I was embarrassed of for not knowing the answer. Doel has a neat teaching style that helped me learn to drive very quickly, and I never felt out of my comfort zone. He stayed calm and collected, even when I was making mistakes. The company was so awesome for letting me use their car to practice on, as well as on the test. It was a huge help, as it would’ve been a hassle to find a different one (my family car is not a sudan, so it’s not easy to learn to drive on it). They are very accommodating, easy to contact, and overall very friendly! Most driving schools are fairly expensive, but Raincity is a great bang for your buck. I used the 9 lesson package that included a practice session right before my test so I was extra prepared. Thank you RainCity, thank you Doel!! 10/10 recommend.

Rain provided thorough and precise teaching all throughout the 18-hour lessons that I took with him, which I found really, really helpful. I had some overseas driving experience, but driving in BC is a very different experience with a different set of rules and different challenges, so I really appreciated Rain's guidance. In fact, some of the routes and manoeuvres we did during the lessons were more challenging than the actual road test, which was very beneficial in preparing for the road test indeed. Rain was also very patient, calm, and supportive and always gave me helpful feedback. I also liked it when he'd use a whiteboard to illustrate some key concepts (such as intersections and turns). Scheduling lessons was easy, and I could also schedule my lessons far in advance (which was much appreciated). Highly, highly recommended for anyone preparing for the ICBC road test.

I have had many classes with all of the instructors and for most part have had a pleasant experience. Rain is very nice and does a good job teaching. Doel can get a bit frustrated at times if your a newbie, and then apologizes at the end of the lesson or at the next one. Robert can come across as having a very strong personality and a bit demanding, but you get used to it after a while - he means well. My last one was Domenic who i did not get along with at the beginning. Due to a health condition i need water handy at all times, and he refused to move a few pens from one of the cars cup holders - saying they are full. When he noticed i got a cough and needed the water, which he had put in the glove compartment he shared one cup holder with me. In general, i do not recommend him, he looked at his cellphone way more than my actual driving. I felt like i just paid to be able to legally drive with someone in the car for most part. He asked me to tell him if he could improve on anything at the end of the first session, to which i explained he could look at his cellphone a lot less, and mentioned all the other instructors watch my driving, rarely looking at their phone. However, with the next classes he did the exact same thing. So i didn't bother repeating myself when he asked what he could improve on again. Also, on the day of my exam the ICBC instructor almost didn't give me the test because she noticed that one of the tires was low on air and the car was showing the signal. She was kind enough to look past it and do it anyways. I simply do not believe that being a driving instructor is his calling. If you are interested in RainCity, i highly recommend having Rain or Doel teach you.

I took several lessons - off and on, a couple of lessons with Robert and half dozen with Doel recently this summer/fall (as well as a car rental mini lesson with Rain). DOEL They’re all good, but I found Doel’s instruction, clear precise and calm. His patience / natural calmness really lent itself to being a great instructor. I’d wholeheartedly recommend Doel to anyone who needs a brush up or is starting from the beginning. Awesome all around. By the end of the half-dozen lessons with Doel, I felt really comfortable and confident, so can only recommend! RAIN For my last lesson, it was a pre-test mini lesson car rental for my Class 7, and was with Rain. I can't say too much about it since my time with him was short, but he was great in that time. BOOKING The booking process and communication with Roni was also great. She was flexible and pretty prompt. Email and text. Easy to work with. VEHICLES The cars were all easy to maneuver and I felt safe driving under their supervision. Passed my test on the first go. So yay!

A friend mentioned RainCity because their rates are lower than other driving schools. My first lesson was with Robert. After the lesson he recommended the 18 hour package.
