AJ! Not only does he tell you what you did wrong but he tells you what you did right down to every single aspect. His calm mentality also helped me to relax even when I had no clue what I was doing. He's also just a great guy to have a genuine conversation with. Thank you! I am updating my review as I have taken additional driving classes with the instructor named Oscar. Oscar did such a great job at teaching me how to drive perfectly so much enough that I was able to use his knowledge to pass my drivers test! He gave me so much preparation before the exam so nothing was able to phase me. I also very much enjoyed driving with Oscar as he's a great guy to talk to and very relatable. Thanks again Oscar I wish you the best!

I had a fun and wonderful experience with South Bay Driving School. My instructor was Teresa and had all of the best qualities of a good instructor. She was funny, honest, and patient. Alfred at South Bay Driving School is a breath of fresh air. This day was difficult for me because I haven’t driven for more than a year due to my recovery from two brain surgeries for an aneurysm and brain tumor that I had performed in Germany away from Wrestling age-group wrestling Worlds in Bulgaria (I was Med-evacuated to Frankfurt once the aneurysm and brain tumor were found). Alfred made me feel at-ease, and is an encyclopedia of driving knowledge. Your day will be much better once you drive with him!

I highly recommend Rosie Rose as your instructor! In just one lesson, I have learned so much in terms of driving. We drove from San Pedro to the greater LA area, as well as on the freeway, surface streets, and residential areas, learning tips and tricks along the way. Along with that, it was not a silent drive at all. We had great conversions the whole time, and she is incredibly nice. So again, I highly recommend you request her as your instructor!

This school made me feel like an L.A. celebrity when I signed my son up for lessons. Since we moved in from Virginia my son had above average practice time but with a few different rules in his head. His instructor, Teresa, did an amazing job adapting quickly to his skill level and making him a "California" driver in just 2 hours. The front door pick-up service was super convenient while I was away at work. Six hours with Teresa and my son passed his DMV test the first time out. Thanks, South Bay. You're the best!

i had a great time with my instructor Teresa, she was smart and witty. she made me feel comfortable when i was driving around. it had been my first time behind the wheel, and i was in busy traffic. I contacted the South Bay Driving School after my mom and I agreed that having my mom teach me how to drive was not going to allow me to pass my driver's test for the second time. I was paired with Teresa who is the best driving instructor at the school. She is patient, funny, and calm when I am driving which allows me to fully grasp the rules of driving. I feel very fortunate to have had Teresa assigned to me and I feel that because of her skill as an instructor I will earn my driver's license.

My daughter Maya had a great experience. Teresa was always supportive and made sure to point out my daughter's errors so she could correct them and then to praise her when she did things correctly. She also said her mother (that's me) did a good job of training her initially, which I really appreciated because it helped my daughter understand the value of ALL driver's training. Ali is the best teaching manual/stick shift. Took a 2 hour lesson for $160 and it was great. Started practicing in a parking lot, then eventually moved onto the streets, and then eventually to the hills. Awesome and patient dude and would definitely recommend to anyone looking to learn.

Theresa is honestly a great instructor. She makes me feel really comfortable driving and is really real when it comes to telling you what you need to do. Her main goal is to perfect something you are not great at (i.e right turns, lane changes, stops, etc.) She really likes to grill it into you by doing it over and over again! Just took my driving test and passed it thanks to Mr. Luis Mendez! I would recommend him to everyone, he is really the best. He beyond prepares you for the test and he will make you a safe, excellent driver. He has a lot of useful tips and tricks that really help you remember the rules of the road as well as driving maneuvers. On top of being a proficient instructor, Mr. Luis is extremely friendly, patient, and fun. He will actually make your driving lessons enjoyable as well as informative.

The program and the instructors are excellent. My 16-year-old son took the on-line course and passed his exam the first time. Once he had the permit he had three lessons and passed his driving test the first time. The people in the office were very accommodating and made it clear all the legal requirements. I found my instructor Ali to be a phenomenal teacher- patient, thorough, and very clear with his explanations. In two hours he taught me how to drive a manual to the point where I feel comfortable borrowing a friend's to practice. He is somebody who has developed a great and reliable method for teaching but still pays enough attention to tailor his instruction to the needs of the student. I would recommend him to anyone wanting to learn anything regarding driving- he even informed me of some traffic laws I was unaware of! Kudos to an excellent teacher.

I took a few lessons with Teresa and then a bunch more with Luis. After this, I took the test and failed it. I took some more lessons with Teresa and I passed on my next attempt. Teresa is a great teacher. She knows the roads well and is really sweet. She is funny and very tolerant. If you are nervous behind the wheel, make sure you ask for her, because she is very nice.

I had AJ as an instructor for two lessons (forgot the name of the individual who administered me for my first lesson). He was very friendly and always engaged in conversations with me, making me feel very comfortable while driving. He also taught me some driving techniques that were not required for the driving test, such as parallel parking and roundabouts. After only four hours under his mentorship, I passed my driving test on my first attempt! Overall, I think the money spent on lessons with AJ were worth every penny, and I recommend anyone reading this to get him as your instructor, if possible.

Andrea was really quick to reply. I think she got back to me at like 10pm on a Sunday when I sent in a question a couple hours before that. Ali was a great instructor to teach me how to drive stick. I wanted to find an instructor to teach me and not someone with a stick car and wanted to make some cash. It was worthwhile driving a bit to Torrance to take the lesson. My driving instructor was Holly and she was the best!! I just took my driving test yesterday (and passed!!). Holly definitely played a big role in me passingcsonce I took all of my lessons with her. She has a very cool personality which helps you feel relaxed when you have to drive for the first (or one of the first) time(s). She is very funny, talkative, understanding, strict when she needs to be, and adventurous! She is also very good at teaching you the rules of the road. And she gives you her phone number so you can text her a bajillion questions the day before the exam like I did (if you’re an over thinker). So yeah if you’re about to take your first driving test I 100% recommended asking for Holly!!

I had around 17 classes in this school because there was no possibility for me to practice with my own car. So to pass the test in DMV I totally relied on the lessons with instructors. I passed the test in Torrance with 5 mistakes. Overall I am happy with the result. What I liked about this school in comparison with Avers Driving School and Behind the Wheels Driving School (Manhattan Beach) is that instructors are more professional and South Bay school uses very convenient app to book lessons and upload the scorecards. There is no need to call their office every time when you need to reschedule the lessons. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience! Took a stick shift lesson with Ali - he is the best. I have taken two other stick shift lessons with two other instructors (in New York where I live) and by far Ali was my favorite BY FAR. I left feeling more confident than any other lessons, and feeling like I did more driving in a variety of locations. He explained everything so I understood easily and I never felt overwhelmed. My other lessons either didn't explain well so I stalled a bunch or tried to tell me how the whole freaking engine works while sitting in a parking lot without doing a lot of driving. And the price is good in my opinion. If you're thinking about it I highly recommend - ask for Ali.

I took a manual transmission (stick-shift) lesson here and it was a great experience. I'm a seasoned adult driver with no real stick-shift skills and after two hours I felt confident enough with what I learned to operate a manual car. The instructor was very professional and had a great teaching style.
