I’m not the type to write reviews! BUT I had to this one time ! I had 4 teachers and they were amazing at teaching if I made a mistake they would let Me know and we would work on it until I got it . Never got upset if I made the mistake again . I chose package 2 (5 classes ) I added one more class the same day of my test and I’m glad I did because it took off a bit of pressure! I did my 5 hour pre license course here as well . Everyone was so friendly and they would talk to you as if you knew each other . I’m recommending everyone I know bc im still in disbelief that in one month I took my 5 hour course my 6 lessons and road test and I actually passed ! They had faith in me !

This place is amazing. 10/10 I passed on first try after only 5 classes with you guys. The bay ridge location has the most friendliest people. And my teacher for the classes was the sweetest woman there, however when I was taken to staten for my road test I was completely lost. I was with some lady who took my papers I never seen her in the bay ridge location. She didn’t communicate with me properly at all as she focused on only one girl, which isn’t my issue cause I could care less about this. But after I got off my road test and the guy told me I passed I didn’t know what P meant cause I saw points taken off so I didn’t know if I passed or not. I exit to ask the lady that had my papers and she quickly came up to me and gave me a slight pinch and told me to be quiet cause one of the girls was upset she failed? And I said I just was asking??? And in the car again she told me to be quiet? Why is it my fault I didn’t understand I just wanted to know. I guess she was trying to ease the girls feelings but I was confused and felt discouraged completely. After I got to bay ridge I just stood there without knowing if I should go home or not and I just left. Don’t get me wrong this place is amazing but I just didn’t feel right with someone I don’t know touching me at all. Especially telling me to shut up after asking a question out of confusion. And in the car she told me not to speak as if I was even going to speak at all lol. But I fully recommend the bay ridge location, never met people nicer anywhere else. Thank you !!! :)

Lama Driving School was reccomended to me by my best friend. She told me that if I really wanted to learn how to drive this was the place to start. I was shocked at the amazing prices and the friendly staff. The driving instructors are amazing and super friendly. They ensure that you are comfortable and tell you exactly what to expect when the big day arrive. Lama is wonderful she took the time to personally meet each of the students and was very supportive and high spirited whenever you came around. She made me feel comfortable and had no problem in telling me if I was ready or not which I appreciated. She made learning to drive fun. I highly recommend this school to anyone who wants to learn how to drive.

The staff has been incredible in helping me achieve my goal of becoming a new driver\ I took most of my lessons with Deanna who I was super comfortable driving with and helped me without making me nervous! All I could say this is the place you want to come and learn how to drive. Special shout outs to Kifa!!! Super amazing how she makes appointments around your schedule she is on top of everything super patient and she makes you comfortable to be there once you have come in. Took two classes with Muhammad, two with Deedee and my last class with Mo. I have never driven and trust me they will tell you what you need practice on and if you need more classes to practice. I was actually the one who wanted more class but they told me only 5 just like the package has due to the fact that depending on how you drive during your classes is how they know if you need more. Thank you Lama school because to you and your wonderful staff I passed today Nov.14. This is a place I will recommend to everyone!! Who wants to learn how to drive!!

Had an absolute fantastic time learning with 5 different people, each having a unique way of teaching but all teach the same techniques needed to pass! Loved the energy of the staff. Went to Lama driving school for my 5 hour class. Being an avid video gamer and having driven before, I decided to take the road test without any instructor courses. I failed my first road test mainly because the proctors can be very picky with the way people drive. I went back to Lama driving school and had them schedule an appointment for another road test quickly because my permit was about to expire. They scheduled me another appointment in a week and at the same time I decided to take a course with the instructors. Upon taking the course I was taught how to drive to satisfy the likes of the the picky proctors. The way I see my friends and family drive is definitely different from the way NYS DMW would like you to drive. Because of this I would definitely recommend that you'd take a class with an instructor to pass your road test on the first try. Overall the people were very nice, respectful and professional. I would definitely recommend Lama driving school, if you need a fast appointment, knowledgeable instructors, and want to pass your NYS driving test. Definitely give Lama driving school a shot.

I came to Lama not really knowing how to drive a lick. I purchased the 7 lesson package that included the road test and car. They took care of everything for me and I just had to show up. After just 7 lessons, I can proudly say that I passed my road test today! All the instructors I had were very knowledgeable and Lama the owner is the best. She took me to the road test site herself and coached me beforehand! I highly recommend taking driving lessons with these guys!

I hear about Lama driving school a few years back in the nail salon. This young lady was talking about how she was 30 yrs old and just got her license thanks to Lama driving school. Took a package and then paid for classes and then when for her road test and passed it on the first try. So i remember this school name for whenever i wanted to learn how to drive. This year i decided i wanted to learn how to drive. I took out my permit and looked up LAMA DRIVING SCHOOL. Called them and made my first appt and got a great deal. I had never, never ever driving a car not even gotten in the driver sit before i was so nervous but they tough me very well. Because of this virus i was delay on learning but if i really count from when i resumed my classes to my road test i ma say i did it in less then a month i learned to drive and PASSED MY ROAD TEST ON THE FIRST TRY. The staff are great, sweet and always willing to work with you. THANK YOU LAMA DRIVING SCHOOL FOR HELPING ME ACCOMPLISH MY GOAL OF GETTING MY DRIVER’S LICENSE.

This school is legit amazing !! But let me start off by saying I failed at my previous school “super starz auto” . This school lama driving school excelled. Where other driving schools didnt . They spoke clearly were very kind/patient and showed constant professionalism Along With a better environment than other schools . I am so happy to say that after switching schools I finally passed my driving test. This means the world to me . Shout out to all the instructors . Especially Abrahim for being supportive and positive On the day that I was taking the test. So many great people !! If I had to give one criticism it would be maybe put a rug in the middle of the store lol . (Silly I know ) also you guys may run into some small disorganization from the Desk clerk but dont worry they are always willing to work with you and fix things . this is a very small comparison to getting great instructors and great quality service. I took a couple lessons with Sam she was nice but dosent know how to teach was constantly on her phone so I asked the receptionist to switch instructors she did but not before arguing with me and giving me a attitude so my new instructor was Moe he's ok I liked him but for some reason they switched me again this time to the owner/instructor lama she was the absolute worst would sit on her phone and not teach and constantly yell at me in English or Arabic anyways long story short I ended up falling my road test as you can see from my receipt oh and they also charge you extra for 5 hour class It isn't included in the package that's how they lure you in with cheap prices compared to other schools but then end up charging you more for 5 hour class and they let you know about this fact right after you already paid and signed off if I stayed with moe I wouldn't have gave 1 star but it is what it is

DO NOT GO HERE! Nightmare, they lied to me about not confirming my appointment when I had proof that I did. Lowkey one of the instructors told me that they were low on staff & that’s why they lied to me. To top is off the owner tried to charge me $20 dollars to reschedule. One of the young instructors was on her phone the entire time when she was supposed to be instructing me. She would grab the wheel and not tell what I did wrong. They wanted to charge me $60 dollars extra for a rushed appointment (NO SUCH THING). When I got my five hour class certificate they had put white out on it. So, I had to go back to the school to get a duplicate, only this one was for Staten Island location. Note, my classes were in Brooklyn. Now let’s get to the date of the road test. I scheduled my own road test . They texted me a date for my road test to confirm. I replied “No Thank You” On the day of my road test I come to find out from the instructor that they canceled my appointment and rescheduled me for somewhere in Staten Island. I had 5 cancellations and didn’t know about any. The only reason I was able to take my road test was because I had my email confirmation from the appointment I made. Save yourself the time , money and stress and avoid this school.

If you want to pass your road test, then come to Lama Driving School (Period Point Blank!). The instructors are all great! From the first lesson they are teaching you how to pass the test! Although they all have different approaches on how to accomplish this, they are all very effective. Although I was super nervous the day of my exam, I passed-- first try! And I owe it all to Lama and her team. I promise you, you won't be disappointed! In case your interested: I got the 5 lessons package.

My instructor was very rude and was talking in a accent you can tell English is not her first language and when we went out for a drive she would be texting and when I ask her what do now she says figure it out she dosent even teach and sometimes we would have 3 or 4 passengers in the car the would start blasting music and dancing it is really unsafe

Wow amazing driving school! I decided to come here after I failed my first test using Superstarz as the first driving school (Someone was yelling in my ear with a heavy accent and at the school I did not feel any connection). Lama and her instructors are awesome people, very helpful, super friendly, knowledgeable and polite. They gave me great lessons and even rescheduled my driving test at a better location, they also have a very good notification system to remind you about driving lessons which I found very convenient. After I passed the test Lama got me an appointment with the DMV the same week (doing it myself would have been 3 months waiting!) It seems like nothing is impossible for these guys. Lana driving school is awesome! The people there are very sweet and super patient. I learned driving with Moe and mainly Huda. They’re both great. I was super nervous and needed reassurance and confidence which is something they help you with. Each instructor have a different way of teaching. I don’t remember the name of the person who helped me with my practice session right before the road test but the tips he gave me were really good! I passed my road test on the first try after taking classes with them consistently for a month! Would totally recommend this place if confidence is what you lack.

I highly recommend Lama Driving School because they really do their job! I had very bad experience with my previous school a few years ago and this time I wanted to find a good school. So, I’m very happy that I was Lama’s student. From the beginning they gave us very informative 5 hour class and then I took 9 lessons of practice . I had 3 different instructors. All of them were good, but I personally liked my 3rd instructor very much, so practiced with her all remaining lessons . For me it was very important to learn how to drive in stress free environment with a nice instructor. My instructor explained me why I should do certain things while driving and why I shouldn’t be nervous... Simple but very important tips that helped me pass the road test from the 1st try. My daughter had to pause lessons for the pandemic. We paid in advance, as required. They have now "thrown away her files" and will not work with us to figure out how to complete her course. I spoke to Lama, the owner: she is not a legitimate business person. Avoid them.

I was looking for refresher courses before a trip to Vermont (too insecure to just practice without a second brake on my brother’s car). I got my license 12 years ago, but only drove a handful of times. I spoke to Hana, a total sweetheart, who made me an appointment and let me know to come in a few minutes before my lesson to get my form filled out at the office. When I walked in, she was helping someone on the phone and still managed to apologize and let me know she'll be right with me. My first 2 lessons was with Abraham, who was knowledgeable and though casual enough to let me try to figure out how to follow his directions (he was briefed on my already having my license) but alert enough to correct me before I follow through with the wrong maneuver. My third lesson was with Mahjed who gave me pointers on U-ys, K turns, parallel parking and a little pointer on making right angle turns that came in handy parking in Vermont. My final lesson was again with Abraham who was incredibly calm taking me onto the highway even though I was less confident in my abilities than he was, and with his help, managed to stay completely in control of the car and my own nerves. We finished up the lesson with a bit of local driving where I was surprisingly calm and feeling confident for my trip. Just came back from my trip a couple of days ago. I managed to drive from the airport to my destination (almost 2 hours of highways, routes, local streets, and unpaved roads) without incident, and I was very comfortable driving the rest of the weekend. I’ve always been afraid of driving, but now I’m actually excited at the thought of practicing and getting better at it! Definitely would recommend Lama Driving School, and already trying to convince my sister to give this school a try since she was not able to pass when we took our lessons at the other school.

I had a fantastic experience with Lama Driving School! Great staff!!! Great prices! Accommodating scheduling! Got my license in just 2 weeks! I initially chose Lama Driving School because it was the best pricing and they offered the Staten Island road test but lessons in Brooklyn. Even though I live on the other side of Brooklyn and had to travel out of my way for lessons, I am so glad I chose this school. Only 2 weeks ago I registered for 7 lessons with the school without ever having any driving experience! Since I work a 9-5 job, Lama agreed to schedule me for a 6pm appointment (very accommodating btw!). I had never driven on the streets before in my life! As I began to back out of the drive way and onto the streets, I realized it was rush hour! Traffic filled the streets as I cautiously drove the surrounding blocks. Little did I know how critical this was to becoming acclimated as a new driver. I broke through my fear of driving and flourished ever since. Additionally Lama had confidence in me that I did not even know was there until the end of that first lesson. Since that time, I took the remaining 6 lessons and practiced as much as I could with friends. When it came time to sit for the road test I passed on my first try!!! You can probably go to any driving school and get your license in a reasonable time but if you choose Lama Driving School, you will look forward to your lessons and make friends along the way! It's bittersweet to have my license now because I will no longer see Lama and her staff multiple times a week! Lama is truly a wonderful person and someone I look up to!

Literally the best driving school in all of NYC. Do not bother going to any other school. The instructors here are very experienced, and teach you everything you need to know before the road exam. The prices are much better than other schools, and I’ve been to 3 other schools. I came here all the way from Queens, but it was absolutely worth it. Take my word for it, and if you’re looking for a driving school, look no further than Lama!

The staff is amazing, very helpful and welcoming. They wont try and force you into taking the test before your ready because I when I took my test, I passed the first time on Friday May 27 2016. They will teach you everything you need to know to not just pass the test but have you ready to be a good driver.

This place is great! I took driving lessons here as a beginner who has never driven before. The prices are affordable. I drove along the water (less people for smooth cruising), sometimes straight, sometimes curvy. I drove around 3rd and 5th avenues where there are lots of people, cars, bicycles to practice weaving in and around them. I tried different instructors, each giving me their own teaching method. I got in the groove with one particular instructor and was able to request him for certain lessons, which I appreciated. Lama. tries her best to work with your schedule. The day of the driving exam went well - they strongly suggest taking your last lesson minutes before the exam, which is extremely helpful and helped me de-stress a little about the exam. Thanks Lama driving school!

All the driving instructors are really smart and knowledgeable but my favorite instructor by far is mohammed. I only took 7 driving lessons and I have never drove a car before and they turned me into an excellent and safe driver. I will forever be grateful to them for the rest of my life. I have never encountered such disgusting, rude and dysfunctional customer service in my life. First of all, it is impossible to get a lesson - I had to walk in just to get an appointment that's not weeks away. I planned my day around the 7pm lesson and travelled close to 2 hours, arrived excitedly just to be told CYNICALLY that I do not have a lesson. They are terrible at communication and great at undermining and gaslighting all of your grievances. "We've operated 11 years and never had anyone complained or called us rude" - well evidently untrue from the reviews here. The owner Lama is hysterical, mean and absolutely nasty, while the older woman at the front desk is horribly rude and passive aggressive. Even when I walked in before to schedule, a younger lady wanted to assist me in getting me an earlier appointment but that woman did not want her to help me. FYI They also do not wear masks/adhere to social distancing (while yelling at you). They even refused to give me a refund when I requested, even though previously she said that she would definitely refund if I requested on Paypal but 4 days later and NOTHING. I had never been so angry in my life. Truly INSANE. WORST experience and WORST place ever, and I'm not the only one. AVOID AT ALL COST.

This is the best driving school I’ve been to. They are very friendly and helpful. I been to a few driving schools to take lessons over time and often they just took my money and where not intensive. They follow up on everything very well and send reminders. My driver lessons went well too I felt comfortable and was given feedback in a helpful way rather then comments that make me feel like progress isn’t possible which I had in other schools. I also like to add I liked when I first called and also stopped by they’re concern was providing me good services first rather then just swiping my card. I took the road test before I felt most prepared for it with this driving school. I would definitely recommend here. Great!

They are flexible with scheduling and willing to work with you to accommodate your needs. I would definitely recommend Lama Driving School for nervous drivers, or for anyone who needs some practice driving after a long break. Lama especially is very good at calming your nerves (: Additionally, many of the instructors also speak Arabic: a bilingual bonus if that's your language! If there was a -10 star rating that is what Lama Driving School would receive. If you value your $$ DO NOT GO HERE. They scammed my family with false advertisements and invalid information that delayed legal driving experience; in simple do not believe anything that these people say. They were quick to take our money and changed their original story once the truth of their scam was uncovered. Along with that communication was extremely poor and they did not provide correct documents, making everything done with them a huge hassle. If you have any other driving school options I would very highly recommend you opt for that instead of Lama.

I was recommended this school by my uncle who use to own bay ridge auto school. So I knew he wouldn’t lead me wrong. This place is amazing super flexible with their scheduling. Always very polite and helpful. I had Huda as my driving instructor she has been beyond amazing! Took her time to break down everything in detail and even sent me the breakdown via text message to study at home. I have severe anxiety yet with her I was always calm and collected. I highly recommend this school and especially Ms Huda. I live in Staten Island and this was worth the commute which honestly wasn’t even bad since they’re right in bay ridge. Look no further, Lama school is at your service. I came here with prior driving experience but the instructors really helped polish my technique for the road test (which I passed on the first try!) Everyone here is kind, professional, and eager to help you succeed behind the wheel. My main instructor was Joe. He was patient and knowledgeable. I found this helpful in stressful situations. The day of the roadtest, Lama and her other students, did everything they could to help me feel at ease, even after my nervous meltdowns. I was so stressed but with their support and encouragement I was able to push through. I took the 5 hour certification course here as well. The instructor was very nice and willing to answer any and all questions. My only complaint is that you cannot request the same instructor for all of your lessons. I find it easier to learn and perform when there's consistency. For some, that is not an issue. With that said, I recommend this school to anyone looking to pass their road test in NY. You're in great hands!

She is exuberant and positive, the exact kind of person we all need in stressful situations. We did some practice right before, which was very helpful. Switched to Lama Driving School after I had a mediocre experience with another school where I failed my driving test. Passed first try with Lama. :) Also a great thank you to Ahmed, my instructor in the several days prior to my road test. Super calm, collected, and easy to talk to. I went to Lama in Staten Island to get my drivers licence, I wasn’t sure what to expect, will they try and get you to buy as many lessons as possible? Absolutely not! As I have been driving for 20 years overseas I already knew how to drive but Lama and her staff taught me what the DMV would be looking for and how to drive to pass the road test. After my first lesson they said.. you don’t need any more lessons save your money! I loved that, they were honest and very helpful in helping me work on the things I needed to brush up on. I also did my 5 hour course with them, happy to say I got my licence this week! They offer express appointments too so I think it was a max of 3 weeks from when I did my 5 hour course to getting my licence. I would highly recommend Lama, especially if you are a foreigner like me, she understands that you may just need help in one specific area and listens to your concerns. If you are in Staten Island or Brooklyn and you need your licence then give Lama a call!

If i could give a 10/5 stars I would. AMAZING staff especially Sam and the owner herself, I came in 10 days ago after failing my first exam due to me trying to go the cheap route and just receive informal lessons from friends and loved ones, but they took what prior knowledge and made me passed today and I am a 1000x grateful for it. Sam is really easy going, she takes it slow and explains why it is you do things you do while driving behind the wheel just overall an amazing teacher and helped me make everything second nature. I would highly recommend everyone if you have the time and availability choose this driving school. It was an hour and a half commute every time I went for a lesson but it was definitely worth it. Also their liveliness and un-robotic like nature makes your more at ease at the day of the test instead of putting so much pressure on you, it was words of encouragement all the way. But honestly they took me a failed student, and within 10 days got my license. I am going to be bringing all my friends and loved ones to this place simply because it was that good of a driving school. (Victor)

Each driving lesson I had with a different teacher and have to say that all of them are very nice and patient and, most importantly, they know and tell what especially you need to pay your attention at not to fail the road test. Special big THANK YOU to owner Lama :) if you go to the road test with her - you have no choice, but to pass it. You will have your last lesson before the road test on Staten Island and she will make you practice driving and parking around until she considers you to be ready. That was very helpful :)

My experience here was horrible they don’t even use computers to keep track of the lessons they use a pencil and paper like they are still in the 80s. My instructor was not good at all and would grab the wheel from my hand and drive for me also would not explain the turns or what I have to do. I told Lama the owner and she told me to go eat a tire of rubber with a fork and that she doesn’t care about me she only cares for my money.

Lama was the most disorganized, dysfunctional and rude service I have experienced of a business. They do everything by text and phone calls but keep no record of communication so everything becomes a muddled mess. Lama herself is hysterical and the older woman she employs in the Bay Ridge office is one of the nastiest people I have ever encountered. They are functioning like a business in a past century with no understanding of customer service, kindness, or that payments and appointments should be made on line in an organized manner. if you think take lessons from Lama Driving school or not I suggest take lessons because I did not have any experience of driving a car and passed my road test. Lama is a good instructor and woman and she helps her students to pass a test and try to explain how to avoid mistakes you have so that you will succeed in it. She was a one who took us to the driving test and gave us a lesson. If you live far from Brooklyn, NY try to find out time of meeting in a day of road test before so you won't be caught in the difficult situation.

First off, thank you to Abraham for telling me, “It’s okay.” everytime a bad turn or was too close to he curb. Thank you for the personable attitude while we were driving. You really made driving feel seamless. Never would I think that I’d be parking after 3 lessons! What a way he has of building confidence! I have to thank mama Lama. This is “your boyfriend.” (inside joke). I remember meeting Lama for the first time and her raving about how beautiful my smile was. From that point on she always complimented me everyime I entered the school. What made Lama great was her tenacity when I couldn’t take my road test because of an expired permit. Here I was, ready to nail it, only to drive 10 feet before the instructor discovered this. I was devasted. Lama then drove me to the DMV which was over 30 minutes away in rush hour traffic. Of course when we got there she knew everybody. Go figure, but we didn’t wait more than 10 minutes. The permit was renewed, and less than 2 weeks later I returned to the test without having to repay and received my license. This was all thanks to Lama! I took three practice driving lessons with this school and I passed my road test. Especially that they offer to take a practice lesson before your road test. They are very reasonable with pricing. I'm shocked this school has some negative comments. I have nothing negative to say. They helped me so much I couldn't be more grateful. Sam was my instructor every time and she was so patient. This school wants you to pass. They aren't just trying to take your money. I asked questions every time I felt unsure about something and they answered each one. If I could give them zero stars I would. They lack communication skills they don’t like feedback. They play with peoples time and money like its dirt. Every employee to the owner is rude they’re customer service towards the customer is zero it’s nothing its non existent. When I spoke to them on the phone about this issue they started to claim that I was never a customer at their “Driving School”. I don’t know where they got all these good reviews from they have to be fake reviews or they delete the bad reviews. Getting my license was stress-free and enjoyable, thanks to Lama Driving School. The people were very friendly and experienced. The schedules were very flexible, meaning I was able to get back to back lessons with my friend in the same car. It was more fun than anything, like taking turns at a video game with my buddy. It was also relatively inexpensive, and easily manageable with their package deals. From getting my permit to getting my license, the entire process took 3 weeks! I'm going to miss the instructors, but I'll definitely return for highway classes.

I first went to Lama driving school for the 5 hour class on April 1st. Lama taught it and she was really sweet and optimistic saying that we would all get our licenses quickly and easily. I didn't believe her but I really wanted my license by the summer, so I asked her if it was possible and she said of course! I took 5 lessons within a few weeks, one or two lessons per week, so it was actually pretty relaxing and not rushed. On April 27th I took my road test for the first time and passed! It was pretty easy. Keep in mind before April I had never driven before. Honestly pretty low prices and great staff here. Other driving schools have packages of 10-15 classes, while here they have packages of 3-7 classes. That's all you need to pass your road test. Sam and all the other staff here are so kind and professional. Easily the best driving school around.

I signed up with Lama Driving School about three weeks ago. I barely had any driving experience. I've only driven in necessary cases but I had no technique and was very sloppy. I originally got the 5 Lesson Package. Which is good if you feel confident enough but after my fourth lesson I decided that I could use more practice and added a few extra classes before my road test. This school gives you and prepares you exactly the way it would be on the day of the road test. Understanding the rules of the road and how to meet the requirements to pass and get your license. I have worked with ALL of the instructors because it allows you to get used to the instruction and not get too comfortable to the style of one individual. ALL of the instructors at the Lama Driving School are FANTASTIC & SUPPORTIVE. Meaning that you won't feel that there's too much pressure and when you make a mistake you keep practicing. However, you are reprimanded as you would be if you were driving with a family member/husband/friend. The instructors train and teach you to become more confident and comfortable with driving a vehicle and that's important because that is the goal. The 5 star reviews regarding this place are true because they do as they promised. But you must listen carefully and follow the advice and instruction given to you the you will PASS for sure. I had 7 lessons and passed being an inexperienced driver and I am STILL taking extra classes just to get used to driving and continue to gain experience. Review for lama driving school. The only reason I’m giving one stars is because the people that worked here were very friendly, otherwise it would have been zero. Now on to the negatives. I signed up for the 5 lesson package which did not include the 5 hour class. You don’t get the same instructor for every practice, so there is no way for them to keep track of what you need to improve on. Each instructor has a different car, the main reason for paying them to use their car for the road test is to familiarize yourself with the car you have been learning in, which would make the road test a bit easier. On the day of the road test the person behind the counter asked if I wanted to pay for an additional lesson right before my test. Why not ask me this after my fourth lesson? Seems like a way to squeeze some extra cash out of the students before they take the road test. I would not recommend them. I went to a different driving school in Bay ridge after failing my road test and explained the situation. There was a girl in front of me signing up and I was told by my new school that the girl in front of me had just also came from lama driving school and was also switching schools. This is the first time I’ve ever posted a review, but if it helps someone else to avoid the mistake of using this school then I may as well. It wasn’t all bad some of the things I learned from this school did help. But taking the road test with them got me an 80 score on my road test. Anything over 30 is failing. I’ve also noticed a trend of when this place gets a negative review they like to say they have no record of you going to their school. Go on Yelp they seem to be famous for this response as if every review is a conspiracy to put them down. Do your research on this place before you waste your money like I did. I also did not name the driving school I switched to as I don’t want this review to come across as an advertisement for a different place.

First of all very unprofessional the receptionist is very rude and might be racist I’m 17 and I came here with my parents we showed them the deal they had online and they said it was expired I’m Italian American at first I didn’t think much of it and paid full price but then some Arab looking guy came in and got the same discount didn’t think much of it. The first couple lessons with lama went smoothly but then she started using her phone and blasting music on some of the lessons and sometimes we would have 3 passengers in the back all dancing and singing to loud Arabic music it went from easy smooth lessons to dance parties I’m a party animal but i didn’t pay $360 to dance I paid to learn driving I ended up going to drive rite academy and passed first time

Signed my daughter up for their premium package a few months ago - school offered attractive discount but daughter did not learn much during the lessons and told me the instructor kept grabbing her wrists when showing her steering techniques - he did stop when she told him to but felt uncomfortable for the rest of the lessons -

I am so happy I decided to take classes at Lama’s Driving School! For 7 classes I had few instructors, which is awesome, because all of them share different and useful tips. Even though I failed my first road test, Lama stepped out and convinced me to schedule another road test for the next day, she was sure I’ll pass it, and made me feel confident. She had right and I really passed it the next day. Thanks to Lama and all her instructors (especially Joseph with whom I took the most classes (forgive me if I spelled the name wrong)) with such a great energy now I have my license and I have no fear anymore! Lama's Driving School was great because they made things easy for you. During my 5 hour class, they kept things engaging and fun when they gave examples of what to do and what not to do on the road. thanks to Lama driving school, I got my driving license finally on my second attempt. After failing for first time I chose Lama and I would say this is one of best school in my limited experience. My teachers were Mr.Ibrahim and Mr.Majid; both of them were really good and most importantly this school has system and all teachers will try to reinforce same driving rules while instructing. Thanks again to Mr.Majid (he gave final touch to polish my skills before my test). They made it too simple and I think it was a cake walk for me. This is a longgg overdue review. It is hard to explain how amazing they are because after you've experienced their warmth and genuine kindness, you are at a loss for words . Listen to me when I tell you , with Lama YOU WILL PASS. And not only pass , but also take a lot more knowledge of how to handle yourself on the road with you because they go above and beyond. They make sure you know what you're doing! Not only for the test but also for your driving experience afterwards. They are AMAZING instructors ! The instructors and staff are friendly and helpful. However I find it a little weird that their package only covers one road test. If you fail, you have to pay the car rental fee and scheduling fee all over. In most driving school, they include two chances. The cost really adds up if you are not already an experienced driver.

Amazing driving school! The whole team is great and they are very knowledgeable. The woman who works at the front desk is great and she gets to know you. It feels great. I bought the Premium package which included 5 lessons, the road test appointment, and the car for the road test(my brother went to a different driving school and paid more for less things) I had my lessons with Huda and Mohammad(hopefully I spelled their names correctly). They were great. I went for my test with Joe(I believe that was his name; he also did the 5 hour class too). He was very helpful and although I failed my first road test, I signed up for a new test date the following week. Abraham took my group this time and he was also amazing. I passed and was so happy. I will be signing up for a highway lesson with them soon. 10/10 would recommend.

Love this place. I was a super scared new driver who thought she would never in a million years get her license... passed the road test on my first try. I highly recommend the Titanium package if you are a new driver (7 lessons + car for the road test + scheduling the test!). They also offer the necessary 5-Hour class! I got my license two days ago and I'm still kind of in shock. The instructors are very patient and will answer your questions without making you feel foolish. I really can't say enough nice things about this place. Thank you, for helping me with everything.

Priviously,I took driving classes with different learners and failed the road test . Lama instructors will make you feel very comfatable and they are very patient. They teached me many things promptly that my previous learner school never teached me . One time I remember ,my instructor even got off the car and walk to the curb and showed me at what point I should make the right turn. I really don’t know where to start. This is the best school in NYC. My dad booked his test with her 3 years ago and he passed. And now tht I’m taking my road test, he told me to go with her. She is a very nice person and her spirit is just great. She gets you out of the mood and makes you feel very comfortable. I had my permit and I needed to take my road test to get my license. Since my permit was going to expired I need it to do it quickly once I pass my road test they gave me 90 days temporary license I called him and asked him if I have to do anything else he told me no I didn’t, once I got my license I realize my license was only good for 30 days so basically I didn’t know that until I look carefully. It turned out they never told me that if my permit was going to expire so was my license even though I paid over 200 something dollars take the test get my license. Now I’m being told I have to pay another $80 when I called them they told me they don’t know what the new rules are. I explain to them they going to be in business they should know all the rules and hell their customers and I make up stories that I didn’t have to do anything else. All they can say is I’m sorry

Couldn't have chose a better school than Lama Driving School! I was a little scared at first since I was the first one in my family learning to drive. The employees are really friendly and really treat you like their own. I highly recommend taking Moe as an instructor. As a beginner, he was able to break down all the steps: from starting a car to parallel parking. I bought the 8 lessons package and it was worth time/money spend. Prior to my roadtest, Sam made sure we fixed all of our mistakes before the exam. She's a tough instructor, but she does get all the jitters out before you get in the car with the instructor. End of the day, I passed! Thank you Lama Driving School for everything! Will be calling again for highway lessons.

Before signing up with this school, my mother was enrolled with a “crackhead” instructor who didn’t know how to explain the procedure of parallel parking, dosed off as she drove, and stayed silent during each lesson. When asked why he wouldn’t critique, he stated he will only speak when he needs to correct the driving - which was never! After three weeks of driving lessons and his lack of constructive criticism, my mother arrived at her road test in Coney Island overly confident but after two minutes into the road test, the assessor FAILED my mother and her confidence was quickly shattered. I’m 32 years old and I was terrified about learning how to drive. I took 9 lessons. Every instructor I had was super cool and encouraging. They use positive reinforcement which makes you feel like you’re doing really well and builds your confidence. Then with practice you actually start doing really well and most of the students pass the road test on their first try. The owner is passionate about her business. They are busy but they always make sure there’s time for you to take extra lessons if you need. The lady at the desk greets you with a smile as if you’ve been a regular there for 10 years. Very good environment especially for a person that was super nervous about this whole experience.
