Had a week left before my test before I booked. They fit me in! I was SO LUCKY to have gotten John Nguyen on my first 1hr appointment. He assessed my skill level then we planned 2 following 1.5 hour lessons. He built up my confidence exponentially. John is so patient and thorough, not to mention his extensive knowledge on operating. He simplified everything so well it just 'clicked'. Passed my road test with flying colours after 4 hours. Examiner didnt even open his book. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Amazing service, taught me how to drive and how to have confidence in my skills! My road test was cancelled a day before due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Instantly I got in touch with Ashraf, he told me not to worry about it that we will figure it out after the tests will be allowed. If I could add more starts I would. I wanted a refresher to pass my level 5 and this is the place to go. They are very professional, accommodating and with excellent communication. My daughter had driving lessons with vancouver driving school as it was one of the only schools we could find in the city that was able to teach her how to drive a manual car. Ashraf thought my daughter how to both drive a manual and an automatic car and passed her test at her first try. She was in great hands, they scheduled lessons in advance and showed up in time. I will definitely use them again when my other daughter will be old enough for lessons.

Gang was my instructor and I would highly recommend him and by extension the driving school too. I had around 15 lessons in total. They prepare you well for the test so there are no surprises on the day and I'm pleased to say I was able to pass first time. Gang is an excellent instructor. I would advise people to arrange lessons via text only, I started arranging lessons via email initially and at times it felt like I had to chase the school to get a lesson. Once I started texting my requests it became much more consistent. Having said that, they were very accommodating with my short notice requests and this minor thing does not change my overall 5 star rating.

My both young kids have joined this school prior to going for the road test, first one required only one lesson and passed, the 2nd one took only 3 lessons to get them to the comfort level to go for the test and passed!! I find it very honest approach of this school, to provide only the time required to assess and provide the lessons needed to be a good driver. All lessons with this school and each one was very satisfactory, Lori is an excellent instructor with great patience and absolute humble approach. Overall, I have a very good experience and would recommend this for anyone looking for one of the best driving school!

I agree with everyone else's reviews! I had Gang instruct me and he was awesome, and very patient. I also had some instructions from 2 different friends and then got my lessons with Gang and there was such a huge difference. Friends are great but they don't pick up on the errors and improvements I need. I reccomend everyone get driving lessons. Not only has it ensured I passed my test but most importantly, I feel more confident as a new driver I can drive my family around safely.

if you're like me and you think plenty of enthusiastic google reviews are suspicious then don't worry - Management kindly asks us to write these after our time there. I'd recommend this driving school. It was simple to set up and my instructor was clear. I could already drive and was only looking for a refresher so cant comment on the whole process but they know what they're doing. the only slight negative - if you rely on email communication expect to wait for replies. haha, they're not the fastest with email replies but easy to reach on phone.

Then I took driving sessions from Vancouver driving school and I cleared my road test very easily. Thank you so much. I could not have done this without John's help! We had a tight turnaround time to my Class 5 road test and the school was great about communicating all the details and slotting me in with enough lessons and the car for the test. My test was at 8.20am and Shah was there at 7.20 for the warm up. Shah was a really good instructor. He showed trust but also guided and corrected where needed. Explanations were clear. He didn't just explain the rule but also WHY that rule existed, and for me this was great in developing long-term understanding, not just passing the test. Would recommend VDS to anyone looking to do their Class 5 road test, especially having little Canadian driving experience. Thanks Shah!

I have to say I was a bit hesitant to pay for driving lessons, but I am so glad I did. I failed the class 5 driving test last year, and needed some extra help to improve my driving skills. A friend recommended VDS, and I had Gang as an instructor. I first took lessons with Gang about 2-3 months prior to my N test. I had been driving, but didn't know about the small rules and procedures when driving. Things such as shoulder-checking, fully stopping at stop signs, and proper parking/backing-up maneuvers were all polished by Gang, and by the time my N test came, I was well prepared and passed on my first try. Gang was really good at catching my mistakes and getting you into the habits of proper driving.

Gang helped me learn before and during COVID (it took a long time because we had to fight through the shutdowns), and i was starting from no real previous experience. But he worked around my schedule, was incredibly thoughtful, was able together to help me build confidence and get me through the driving test. I went through 10+ driving lessons over the span on 1.5 years and I can definitely tell that my driving skills and confidence on the road have both improved. I passed my first “N” test with very minor deductions. The majority of my lessons were with Ashraf. I felt that Ashraf was a very patient and calm teacher who gave me lots of helpful tips and would always show me how I could improve. I would attribute a lot of my success on the driving test to him. I would highly recommend him as a teacher as he is someone who is quite friendly and he will always be able to answer your questions about driving.

I will honestly recommend VDS. I was going for my class 5 road test, but it had been a while since my last drive and I had no experience driving in Canada. I took around 7hrs of lessons total with the owner as my instructor. At first I was really nervous but he was really patient and in the end I got the confidence to pass my road test. I had 6 lesson with this school and each one was very satisfactory. The communication was good and they allowed me to space out my lessons so that I could have my final two closer to the test date. My teacher Garry was very calm and patient and really helped me with my parallel parking. The only thing is that the amount of notice they give to let you know about your lesson is somewhat short, but they are willing to work with you on times. Overall, I have a very good experience and would recommend this for anyone looking for a driving school!

I went to this driving school after researching and reading its stellar reviews but I was met with disappointment and I don't know how it got its stellar reviews tbh. My first instructor I found very rude and harsh even after I explained to him on the very first lesson that I was a new and inexperienced driver with no prior driving experience. However that first lesson just went horribly wrong with the constant discouraging remarks I got for making mistakes (which I get safety and following the rules is very important but yelling/raising your voice doesn't help especially to someone who's still learning how to drive and also who's nervous and focused to figure things out) which I also found quite unprofessional. I felt so discouraged with driving after my first lesson and debated whether to give this instructor another chance or switch instructors or quit taking lessons. I gave the instructor another chance and on my 2nd lesson it was still the same and I decided I won't tolerate that kind of behaviour if this is how my next lessons are going to be. He didn't meet my learning needs at all. Maybe he's better with veteran drivers and not with new ones? I don't know. I asked the driving school to switch to a different instructor and I got Shah who I will give credit for being patient with me and made me not hate learning to drive so much. Shah was good at giving constructive feedback on my mistakes and what I needed to work on. He's more appropriate for new, inexperienced drivers to make them feel less scared, nervous and more confident. So I really recommend to get Shah as your instructor if you could! I would've continued taking lessons with him but the other thing this school needs to work on is communication as I found it hard and frustrating at times to get a lesson scheduled that I'd have to chase and contact/remind them about it. And sometimes mixed communication happens (one time Shah and I were at different meeting places because the school did not notify him of the change). So I hope the school improves with communication more. Also, to Gang who was my first instructor, I will take those first few lessons with you as a learning experience but please be kinder and patient to newer drivers next time.

I purchased the Basic 2 package from Vancouver Driving school which includes 5 hours of practice and the car for the road exam. I was paired up with John Nguyen As my instructor and he was just what I needed. I didn't have a budget for a lot of lessons and could only afford the package I got, he made sure to be very clear in all the ways I needed to improve between each lesson so I could independently work on it with my Boyfriend before the next time I saw him. Right away he was very clear of his expectations and continously defined what he would expect from a good / safe driver. We practiced in the areas that my examiner would potentially take me so i was familiar with the area and when it came time to my road test I passed on the first try!!! I couldn't have done it without Johns help, I am very happy with how quickly we could improve my abilities and within just one month!! 10/10 would recommend.

Ashraf even explained the School's philosophy as to "train to make better drivers, not just train to pass the road test". Fantastic service. I paid for a road test car rental mid march and 2 days later icbc canceled road tests due to covid. Called VDS and they offered full refund or to keep the money and phone back when i had a new test date. Four months later i call back with a test date and no questions asked they were on board to provide the vehicle rental. On test day Ashraf was on time with a sanitized vehicle and provided a great 1 hr prep warm up for my road test. I passed nearly flawlessly with his tips and advice. I cant recommend these guys enough.

My driving instructor —John— was fantastic: he was patient, attentive, and knowledgeable about all aspects of driving. I learned at lot from him in a short time. Why the 1 star rating? My experience with the school itself was horrible. Asaf —the owner— is irresponsible, sloppy, and dishonest. The school’s stellar 5 stars score on Google Maps caught my eye. I should have known better: online ratings are easy to fake and no longer a reliable indicator of a business quality of service. I purchased the 10 hour + road test pack. I’m a busy working professional, I can only take driving lessons during week-ends. Planning lessons was difficult because Asaf —the owner— doesn’t read text messages. He regularly offered lessons that didn’t work with my schedule despite my constant reminders. One week I worked from home and was available for a full two week days for lessons, I let Asaf know, but he didn’t book any lesson during that time. When I saw John —my instructor— the week after it turns out he was fully available those days too, but Asaf didn’t tell him anything… One time I got a text from Asaf right before a lesson: “John can’t make it, you’ll get another instructor”, but then John showed up as usual. John told me he got mixed up with the schedule. I had my road test in Richmond, which is a 30 minutes drive away from where I lived. 4 weeks before the test, I texted Asaf that I wanted to have my last lesson before my road test, so I can drive to Richmond and have time to warm-up. He didn’t read my text and booked me for a lesson that coming week-end… I texted him back, re-iterating that I wanted to have my last lesson before my road test. He asked for my road test information —that I already sent to him twice— a third time, so I sent it to him. He didn’t tell me it wasn’t possible or anything, he just texted “OK”, which I though meant he was going to do his job and plan it. The week of the road I texted Asaf to remind him that I had my road test and that I would use my last lesson before it. Again, he didn’t tell me it wasn’t possible, he just texted “OK”. The day before the road test, I got a text from John the instructor: Asaf has just informed him of my road test, and while he was available during the test, he could only be there 30 minutes before the time because he was with another student! I texted Asaf right away asking him what was going on. Asaf didn’t answer my text… He ghosted me the whole day, which you can imagine was really frustrating and stressful. In the evening I texted him to asked to be reimbursed for the lesson. He answered “Yes, we can do that” a minute later, after letting me hanging that whole day… The day of the test the good John showed up 10 minutes early, cutting short a lesson he had planned with one of his own student weeks before. I drove to the road test in bumper to bumper traffic. We made it to the ICBC with minutes to spare. John did his best to warm me up and give me confidence, unfortunately I didn’t have enough time to warm-up and I failed the test. 3 weeks after not providing the service I paid for, and agreeing to reimburse me; Asaf hadn’t sent the money. When I asked about this he told me it was because I didn’t ask for the reimbursement after the road test, so it was basically my fault… He emailed the money an hour later. At no point Asaf took responsibility for wasting my time and my money. Actually Asaf didn’t apologize a single time despite his numerous mistakes. How un-Canadian.

Pick up and drop off was very convenient. Booked 10 hours but didn't use all of them so got refunded for the unused hours. Scheduling may be a bit difficult since they are quite booked up. It may be hard to get the exact slot you want sometimes, but if you're flexible it shouldn't matter

Had a great experience with the school. I booked for 2 one hour lessons as well as for the road test, an hour warm up before the road test. I had prior driving experience abroad but wanted some road time in Vancouver before my test at the Point Grey location. At first I was assigned to Gang for my first 2 lessons. He did an excellent job of pointing out the aspects I needed to focus on. He also made it clear that he would be busy the day of my road test and that he would contact the school to ensure I had another instructor for the day of the road test. I had to contact the school to get the other instructors' contact info (Ashraf). Ashraf did a great job of giving me pointers to keep in mind during the road test. I ended up passing my novice road test with their help and would highly recommend them!

I am extremely terrified of driving, and I needed to prepare for my road test. I booked 10 hours with Vancouver Driving School. I did my lessons in September and October, and my main instructor was Tom. He was always calm and clear in his instructions. I appreciated how rarely he took control over the vehicle, which is great for practice. He only did so if it was an advanced intersection or he needed to interfere ofcourse. Even though they were busy, the school were very accommodating of my tight schedule. Since my road test was in Richmond, they were able to work it out so I could do a couple of my lessons there which was really helpful! I passed my road test on the first try! One thing to note is don't expect an email or call when you first sign up online. You need to reach out by phone or email to book your lessons. Make sure to ask about the areas they work in and when you can start. Once you do reach out to them, they are very quick to respond and very helpful.

I have no idea why this place has all 5 star reviews, but I am for sure not happy. I purchased 10 hours of driving lessons for my girlfriend. They scheduled her first appointment and the instructor didn't show up! After waiting for some time, she calls the instructor and they say they are already booked with a different person at a different location so it must've been a scheduling error! Not a big deal, everyone makes mistakes. This is where this gets interesting. I emailed them to figure out what happened, and the response I get is some nonsense about "the instructor getting really sick and not coming due to that", which sounds like complete nonsense given that she talked to him and he seemed just fine! When I pressed them harder on that, the story got even weirded ("it was a mix up, wrong phone number" etc...) Trust takes a long time to build and a second to lose. There is no way for me to trust these people anymore, even though they offered a free lesson to make up for this. However, it's not about the mistake, everyone makes mistakes, but about obvious attempt at lying, so I asked for a refund and will try to find another driving school. Way to ruin a birthday present. Giving 2 stars just because they refunded the money almost immediately without asking questions.

Got my class 5 today!! Literally did one 1 hr session a week before the test and 1.5hr warm up session with them right before my road test. The instructor Ashraf was very critical and observant of all the mistakes I made in our first session. Then we just hammered down on those mistakes. I don't have a car and last I drove was on a road trip 3 months ago, so that should speak as to how effective the lessons are especially considering my test was in busy Point Grey region and I passed it in 1st try.

But when I talk to the driver next time he tell me he wasn't sick and not working that day. I called to ask about, and the school told me it was my misunderstanding. Just passed my driving test today! Had my lessons with Shah. I'm one of those typical 'overly-cautious and nervous' new driver and he was very patient, funny, and understanding of that fact. Also, Gang gave me a warm-up lesson right before my test and it was pretty much the path which I was tested on. He's a great instructor as well. Great place to learn how to drive safely! My instructors Shah and Ashraf were both incredible. They provided me with lots of fun and easy tips to remember all the parking methods, and even taught me how to drive in snowy/icey conditions(thanks Mother Nature for the snow!) Unfortunately I failed my first road test because of the nerves, but Shah was easily able to put a smile back on my face and helped me feel confident about my abilities. I booked a few more lessons and was able to pass the exam with flying colours - an added benefit is that I was able to learn how to drive in snowy conditions with the extra lessons. Vancouver Driving School is definitely one of the best schools to learn how to drive in Vancouver. As somebody who has been driving for a good 15 years abroad, driving in Canada was a huge unlearning exercise. He pointed out the areas I needed to improve and taught me all I needed to know to pass the Class 5 road test after only 3 classes, including the warm up lesson right before the test. I would highly recommend him if you are either an experienced overseas driver, who needs some classes to be familiar with the Canadian rules, or you don't know how to drive at all.

I cannot recommend Vancouver Driving School enough! After going 30 years without learning to drive they helped me immensely in preparation for my road test. Even though they are super popular, they are well accommodating to your availability and schedule (my instructor was great at communicating by text and always responded quickly to any questions). The instruction itself is world-class! Clear, concise and encouraging. My instructor allowed me to drive for 15 mins before breaking down what I was good at, and what needed improvement. From there we built a plan suited to my needs. This showed me that I was getting tailored instruction to suit my needs. The instructors are very nice and make the lessons quite fun! They take your learning seriously but are great at making you feel relaxed. They are also extremely knowledgable about all the different routes and testing centres so you can do a proper practice test before your exam. Could not recommend enough!!!! Well done Vancouver Driving School!!!!

I highly recommend the Vancouver Driving School. I felt very supported during my journey to getting my "N". For my birthday, my family bought me the 5H package and Ashraf was very honest and held space for me when I asked him if I should upgrade my package to more hours. He never pressured me to do so and said "let's see how your first lessons go and if you think you would like more lessons we can make sure we accommodate your comfortability and add 2x a week lessons to get you ready for your road test". My instructor Gary was always friendly and always arrived early. He made sure that during every lesson we focused on areas that I wanted to and always assured me that he was here to support me in whatever questions I had and driving techniques/road rules I wanted clarification in and demonstration in. I always felt like we utilized our full 1hr/1.5hrs together. Within 2 weeks leading up to my exam, the owner was very accommodating when I wanted to upgrade my package to add extra hours of driving and to borrow the school car for my exam. He continuously encouraged me as my days neared closer to my exam that "we will get me ready, confident and a safe driver for my test". Phone call is the best way of communicating with the school and Ashraf was always patient during our calls and answered my text messages in a timely manner. I really value how when you call VDS, you speak directly to the owner. VDS really does feel like a family-run business. Even though, I never met Ashraf in person, he made booking every lesson very personal feeling. He answered all my logistical driving questions and when I requested certain days and times for lessons he was very accommodating. Even though my road test was booked on a day that my driving instructor was normally off, he accommodated his schedule to make sure that he was there and that I felt supported all the way till the end! The centre that I tested at did not have any coverage from the rain and Gary never blinked an eye from showing his support and waiting for me until my test was over. He popped out a folding chair and put on a rain jacket and said "That's all part of the job. Just focus on my road test and that he will be right here when I'm done." That made me feel really supported and that I had a whole team believing in me. Like Gary always told me at the end of every lesson, when you put in the hours to learn how to drive, you are not just learning to pass a test, you are learning the fundamentals to become a smart and safe driver. There are things that can be out of your control at times that may make you fail the road test but instead its all about the skill-sets that you develop and master. By focusing in on what you can personally control, you are not giving anything the examiner can fail you on then. With that, I'm really happy to share that with a large part and continued support from the entire VDS I passed my "N" road test and in 2 years, I will definitely be coming back to get some driving refresher tips!

I had John as an instructor, and he was great. I passed my exam on the first try thanks to him! School was flexible with my schedule, even when I had to take a few breaks or take lessons on Saturdays to practice parking. Communication was pretty good with the school, communicated mainly by text message which was convenient for me. I feel like the price for the lessons was worth it, as well. Only complaints are that there were a couple of really last minute cancellations from the school, and often my instructor was late because he had to rush from a lesson with someone else, so they must book some lessons really close together. Be aware of that if you are booking lessons with them and have a tight schedule.

Sometimes it would get stressful with lesson arrangements, so I had to chase down the school for the schedule and follow-up with them for a weekly schedule to plan my life around it. My lessons with instructor John Nguyen were amazing! John is incredibly professional, punctual, thorough, patient, and nice. He is very experienced and knowledgeable and helped me understand and accomplish all the skills that need to be known for the class 7 test. Whenever I made a mistake, John would never make me feel bad and would make sure that I fully understood what I did so that I would learn and not make the same mistake again. I appreciated that he always asked me what I felt uncomfortable with and what I wanted to work on more so that I could develop confidence in those areas. He also has helpful parking formulas that make parking easy! I had little experience before my first lesson with John and was very nervous but after my first lesson, he already made me feel so much more confident. I felt completely ready for my test because John did not just prepare me to pass, he prepared for me to pass with no deductions and 0 negative comments from the examiner. I have a brother who is turning 16 soon and will definitely be requesting John for his lessons. I would highly recommend having John as an instructor!!

I booked my package in the summer and just recently had my road test. It had been a quite a few years since I had driven, so I wanted to touch up and improve my skills. Shah was my instructor and he was amazing. His calm demeanour made my anxiety significantly decrease, and become very confident in my driving abilities. The 6-hour refresher course was absolutely worth it. Thomas was great at showing me how to avoid the common pitfalls that cause people to fail on the Point Grey road test route and he also shared with me some great tips for driving around the city. I was able to pass my Class 5 test on the first attempt. As for scheduling, I recommend proactively reaching out to the school via email. It also helps to have the instructor's phone number so you can confirm your lesson date and time, if needed, and stay connected in case there are last minute scheduling changes.
