Max uncle has been really very patient with me. I had never driven before and I begun my classes with him. Because of some unfortunate events with my car the test got canceled last week at the Burnaby location. The earliest I could get was today and at the New westminster location for the early evening . I came to know that it's one of the toughest place to do road test at! I took one last road session with him and he showed the key points to keep in mind. Everything went well and I finally got my N. Coming from a right hand side driving wheel to the left can get a bit daunting and confusing sometimes and Max was there to help me out. He is an excellent instructor very patient and knowledgeable, he went into detail about every aspect of driving including with the rules and safety regulations. His explanations were very clear and straight to the point. And with his help I was able to clear my driving test :). This is a late review, Sorry Max but i wanted to do it right and did not get proper time due to busy work schedules. I took refresher courses with Max for a class 5 road test in March and May. Max is a very good and patient teacher. He makes sure you not only learn your mistakes, but explains them and makes you practice more so that you understand what is right and be good at it. He was very patient with me even after i screwed up and failed one road test. He helped me cover a lot of gaps that happen when you do not drive regularly and might seem small but are important in the road test. Since he also comes for the road test to provide his car, it is nice to go over some last minute checks with him before the test. He is quite quick at his responses and I found it very easy to communicate and schedule my lessons. He also makes sure he replies on text only and not take calls that might disrupt his on going lessons, true professional!!! I am very satisfied by my lessons and i would definitely recommend him!!!

Max is a nice person and good instructor apart from being difficult to understand his accent. However the reason I gave lower rating is due to his vehicle. I used his car for my road test. The car is somewhat old, there is no reverse camera and the steering wheel suddenly get stuck when turning. Apart from that everything is good.

While I was already very confident in my driving skills, I contacted A-Learn to Drive In BC Driving School and spoke with Max. I asked for a mock-driving test in order to prepare for my Class 7 test in Burnaby in order to get familiar with the area as I had never driven there before and Max did exactly that. He provided me with a test-like experience, giving me directions where to go and would only let me know if I made a mistake after it happened, or would point out playground/speed/construction signs only after I didn't notice them (and was obviously driving 50 in a playground zone). This helped me learn that I needed to be more aware of my surroundings and the signs and so I managed to pass my road test the next day as I was able to stay alert throughout the road test. - Passed on the first try as I knew what to expect during the test. Thank you Max for providing me with the mock-test in such short notice!

Never again. Arrived late the first session. I have already found a new instructor from a different company. I like to clean off the steering wheel and gear shift before I start my driving lessons (due to the pandemic). I asked him to let me, and if he had some wipes to clean them. He made fun of me, and told me I was not supposed to do that. Something about damaging the finish. This teacher did not have any sanitation in their car. No hand sanitizer, or cleaning wipes. The wheel was greasy, and sweaty. I cannot afford to get COVID-19 from a driving lesson. Also, there is no polite way to say this, but he needs to stop calling people and texting during lessons. I felt uncomfortable for most of my lesson. He was talking with a woman (girlfriend?) with very little left to the imagination.

Max is a really bad instructor. He told me it was ok to make a right turn on a red light, but that is an automatic fail on the test. Second he is not teaching me anything all is doing is talking to me about my private life that is distracting me. Max forces me to write a positive review on the second day of my lesson. Right now I got no choice but to stop the lesson and look for different school. I want a school that will focus on my driving error than my personal life.

Edit: passed N test today! I just had my first lesson with Max. He is really kind and explains things in a calm manner. He knows the test location/area really well (mine is at 999 Kingsway Vancouver location), and he gives great pointers about what to expect on your actual exam. At the end of the lesson he told me the three main things that I should correct before I take the exam, and I wrote these down for reference. I feel a lot more confident about my exam thanks to Max!

If I could give this school 6 stars I would I've taken lessons from many different instructors from various driving schools in the lower mainland (6 in total) I found Max to be the most helpful when it came to techniques and concepts He is genuinely pleasant to be around (some instructors can be pretty annoying!) and his calm demeanor helps make the experience less overwhelming for new drivers Thanks to him I was able to get my N!

Max is an amazing instructor. Because of max, I passed my N test on the first try! I did 2 classes with him, 1 hour practice and then a 1 hour warm up before my test. He takes the time to explain everything thoroughly and if you make a mistake he will correct you and explain what you did wrong. Thank you so much max for your help you are awesome. Anyone looking at this review and nervous about their test book with Max, guaranteed you will pass if you take classes with him!!
