To this day the firm has a score of 4.7 out of 5 and this rating has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that it has an average rating is basically the top, and it's founded on a high number of feddbacks, so we can conclude that the score is quite accurate. If people have bothered to evaluate when they are satisfied, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to set scores when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Driving School corresponds to the category of Recreation center.
Had a super fantastic time at BATL! Staff were great and incredibly helpful to a very nervous first timer. Went with a group of professionals and had a blast. The food and drinks were a plus! Will be coming back soon.
We went with a large group (14) and everyone had a great time. Our coaches were really friendly and fun, and kept us all organized.
SO much fun xD!
Whether its for a special event, you want to make new friends or you simply want to throw sharp objects at walls without being judged, this is the right place to be! You really don't need experience to come here. The amazing staff will teach you everything you need to know. And then you just throw! I highly recommend this place. I will definitely be coming back. With friends!
Our lady who guided us was absolutely amazing! So friendly, personable and helped make for a great time!
I would give this place five stars. We had an excellent experience and a ton of fun. Our coach and teacher “Devon” did an amazing job showing us how to throw an axe!! I come back again and again.
My first time here... I broke a board and my board after... That's good right!?!
Went with a group of people for a 'team building' event, and it was great. Highly recommend it for any group looking for something new to try.
Went last Saturday for a team building function, with the office. Service was on point, and our Coach/Scorekeeper Kendra was excellent. She was very helpful, patient with the newbies, and made sure everyone had a good time. It's like bowling, except better, because it's not bowling. ????
This was one of the most amazing and fun things to do. If you have never done this i would strongly suggest to go and do it. The coach is awesome. Our group had enjoyed thier time there and wither you are have never done this you will have fun.
Awesome staff. Great environment. Tons of fun. Went for a get together with work and had a blast.
Who doesn't want to throw axes? This place is great fun. I like the attitude and atmosphere of the place. There is beer and food and axes - what's not to like??
Terrific location for a company Christmas party! Our group of 30 enjoyed the bright open space, quick drink service and educational axe throwing lessons. Lots of room to mingle + friendly competition made for a memorable activity. The staff are excellent hosts while providing encouraging axe throwing tips. I will definitely book again!
Was great but on a Friday night there was only one person running the stalls. Which lead to 4 stalls for 20 people. Took away from fun as we had to wait around a lot
Great music and atmosphere. Great for first timers like myself.
Been twice now. Staff is very friendly and fun. Price is a bit steep. Still a great time.
Very fun activity that all should try. Super safety conscious which is awesome. However, not too impressed with the pace... quite slow. Also, my friend wore sandals, and the employee did not notice until she was playing that she was not properly dressed. Let her finish the game, and then she left the establishment. But, I still had to cover her cost?!?! How was it that during the twenty minutes that we waited in the foyer while signing waivers and practicing did no one notice? And then me still having to pay for her at the end is pretty sneaky and not cool. $45 is pretty steep for this activity. I've done it twice, it was fun, but not sure I'll be doing it again for a while.
Amazing place. Will be back.
We brought our company down for a team building event and we had an absolute blast. Stafford very helpful in trying to make you succeed. It was a great time!
We had a corporate event here and the experience was so much fun. Throwing axes at targets, having a few drinks and socializing with friends/coworkers. Can't wait to return.
Great time...every time!
Went here for our company Christmas party, great time but found out I suck at axe throwing. I would definitely do this again.
Whether you are a veteran axe thrower or it's your first time, this place is great! Each group is hosted by a BATL employee who will guide and teach you no matter what your skill level.
I held my 40th birthday party there and my friends and family all had a great time. The drinks and food were great and we all had fun throwing axes. I'm already thinking of a time to do it again.
Great time. Excellent event host. Want to go again. Way better then the competition
This was a marvelous experience! Beer, snacks, and most importantly a safe and fun environment to throw axes!???? The staff were very knowledgeable and super friendly. I would recommend this place for anyone to try.
So much fun! The staff were hilarious and we all had a great team building experience. Highly recommend!
So much fun! The coaches are very friendly and helpful. Even if you really don't think you will be able to successfully throw an axe - you're wrong! Learn something new and have an amazing time! What's not to love?
Definitely a must try!! A lot easier than expected and staff is very knowledgeable and friendly in training. Also they serve food and drinks!
Really fun activity. Clean facility and staff were very helpful.
Friendly staff very into teaching you the particulars in axe throwing. Facility is clean and well laid out. Also love the fact they serve craft beer there.
What a unique experience. No need to be a lumberjack (beard may help). Who wouldn't want to go throw axes and have a few drinks. Good finger food too. Great instructions from the staff. They even have a league you can sign up for. Good fun. I recommend you give it a go. Excellent way to escape the winter blues.
I've been twice and it's pretty awesome! The people that work there are so much fun and really get into it with the whole group! Good atmosphere and good place to go in a group of people for sure!
One of my most favorite places on this planet. Great staff amazing atmosphere and the best time to spend with friends:).
Great fun for a bachelor party. The staff were excellent.
Absolutely brilliant fun great atmosphere and helpful staff get your own rep who helps you play and keeps the scores amazing
Had a blast here! Staff was amazing, beer was cold and.. there is axes. How can you go wrong??
Went here with our company and brad the instructor was awesome. Brad was very patient with us. Brad made it so much fun!!!!!
Remember to bring a government issued photo ID must be 14 or older they give you basic training and teach the technique.
If you live in Calgary and haven't tried throwing an axe at a wooden plank you really should. I went to this place with a large group and it was an awesome experience and what's better than having a few free while throwing an axe. Also they offer free fire wood as a result of chopped up wooden planks.
We had such a good time for our anniversary. It's the only axe throwing place that will take 2 people. We had a great time with Heather she was super encouraging and helpful with getting some axes in the wood. Everyone was super friendly. Definitely recommend.
I've been here twice and had a fantastic time on both occasions. One was a work party, one was a birthday party; both ran very similar. Staff are super fun (very exuberant both times), and you can have a few drinks while you play. Food isn't great, but the experience is well worth it!
A good couple of hours spent throwing axes. Staff was very friendly and my whole group had a great time. The food was good and they kept the drinks coming. I highly recommend trying at least once.
So much fun! We had Harry who made it so fun for our group. They have a great beer selection and a staff member who keeps score, making it so easy. Everyone in our group had an amazing time, thank you Harry!
Amazing experience, amazing staff, and amazing atmosphere. Stopped by with a rather large group (25 people) while visiting Canada. Had an absolute blast and can't wait to visit other locations closer to me in the US. If other locations are anywhere close to as good as the Calgary location, then they've got a life-long customer in me! Highly recommended, even if axe throwing doesn't seem like it'd be your thing. Trust me: you need to check this place out ASAP!
We had a group together for my birthday, none had ever tried axe throwing and we all absolutely loved it!!! The laughter, smiles, and cheers throughout the evening will stay with me for a long long time!! And Dave was a fantastic instructor, So Much Fun!
Threw axes as advertised. We got there pretty late so they only charge half which was pretty decent. Also they serve beer, which is a good combination for axe throwing.
Great staff and great fun! Everyone was so friendly and it's like we made some new friends here. Will definitely come again and try to get that longer axe into the wood! Thanks for having us!!!
Fun activity. Definitely more difficult than it looks. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Fun staff and a great place to team build. I find I am weirdly good at throwing axes...
Enjoyed throwing some axes with work colleagues. The orientation is painless and having a staff member with you keeping score and giving tips throughout was extremely helpful.
Had a lot of fun. Great group activity.
Went here with my bf. He beat me. 0/10 because he beat me and that is somehow BATL fault for my poor experience. Rochelle though. That girl is a gem! Fantastic service and always upbeat. 10/10 would promote.
Great staff made it lots of fun and very helpful so the experience was rewarding.
First experienced this at a bday party with 16 people. Joined the league for the following night and fell in love. I've never experienced a group activity that everyone loved so mich ... this is easily the best recommendation for group and solo fun in Calgary! See you there
Tons of fun. Super friendly staff. Great food/appetizers (especially the steam buns). Did not know what to expect, but had a blast! Highly recommend it
Great place to have a party or work function
It was awesome, the instructors Audrie and Julia were great, we had a great time.
We just had the most amazing experience here! The coaches were amazing and everyone was incredibly helpful. For a fun gathering with friends - no experience necessary- this is the coolest idea!! Thanks so much!
Have been a couple times. Fun place. Good staff. Craft beers and appies. Plus Axe Throwing!!
We held a surprise birthday here for my fiance - he had a great time! The instructors are fun, but I think the food is a little over priced. Great way to get some anger out though!
I have been there twice now and have had a great time! The coaches are good, the experience is awesome, and the General Manager made sure we had a fantastic time! Definitely recommend and coming back!
FANTASTIC!! Loved it even though my aim sucks. Great price, instructors are very helpful and attentive. Great for booking a party and they also serve alcohol.
We had a great time with our group on a Saturday night for a birthday party! We booked a private event, and there was about 20 of us. Well organized and really high energy coaches gave a quick overview of technique to each individual prior to throwing, which was very helpful, and then went into the round robin. It was a great way to spend an evening! Really fun, and I would love to go back. I found it was a bit pricey at $45pp, however they have a 20% student discount, and for the experience I felt it was worth it! Weeknights are less expensive as well. They have snacks and drinks, and I believe they are working towards being licensed for alcohol. You can bring in your own snacks too, which was awesome! Can't wait to go back!!
Super fun experience. They give good demos of how to throw. Beware it is loud in there (but really what could you expect for throwing axes at boards). Pretzel bites are delicious.
Came for a team building event, had a GREAT TIME! Very fun and safe, great stress relief! The girls in our team did really well, and our coach Roach was awesome and encouraging. We had a round robin and then playoffs, with Roach organizing the whole thing (scoring and being the ref), this was heat because we didn't organize ourselves well. We each had personalized coaching with Roach and all got better as we went (you don't need to have ever even held an axe) Highly recommended! Cheers!
Had a great time at Friday drop-in hours. Thanks to Carissa for helping us out and being awesome!! Highly recommended!
Well... first time was 5 stars... and admittedly I would say that is the common experience here. It is well run with good staff and a good setup for good times with a group of friends. Last time the only minor complaint I had was dull axes. This time... it was a bit bunk. Disorganized, the WiFi was failing, the scoring screen did not work, and service for drinks was patchy or absent. Guy running our targets was solid and gave good advice on how to improve our tosses. It just felt like BS getting charged full price when things didn't work. Also ordered food but the sauce it came with was rancid. The collective agreement in our group was that the mustard sauce tasted like mustard charcoal that someone dipped their armpit in. It was awful, but just that... rest was good. Anyway.. Pretty minor stuff on a day that was looking pretty busy for the staff. You are going to drop 50 a person minimum here.. So be down with that. Either way.. It's fun, and I will be back. Don't hesitate to try it out!
We hard so much fun at this place. That staff were very friendly and great at coaching. The perfect team building and Saturday night activity. A great way to let out some of that pent up anger.
Had a great time here - even though it was only my 2nd visit. The staff were very friendly and easy-going. They were supportive and helped me nail down my skills to consistently hit bulls-eye! The food and beer selection was also rather impressive too!
Different and fun. Learn a wonderful skill you can use in the real world ????. Went there for a bachelor party and had a great time. Didn't expect to be able to throw axes and drink in the same place. Would good again.
Beer and axes? Yes please!!! Prices are a little high but it's tons of fun. Also Erin was amazing. Wonderful experience!
So sweet must try with with my sweet gf and her friends birthday party , good covid 19 practice in place , neat and clean and fun
Fun place to go with your crew and play a tournament style competition. Staff were very friendly and helpful right from the front desk, to the servers, and to the coaches. I would have given this place a five if it wasn't for the portions of the food. Two meatballs for $10 is a bit steep. Same goes for the steam buns. The food tasted great, but for the prices, it's just not worth eating there.
Crazy amount of fun! Awesome venue and staff. Slightly pricy but worth it to go the odd time!
I went for a work team building event. It was a lot of fun. The employees took us through a lesson on how to throw and safe practices and gave really great tips. It would be fun to go back with friends! The food was delicious too!
Amazing experience! I found out that I am decent at axe throwing. Who knew!
Engaged and active staff. Top notch service. Lots of fun. Great snacks. This is an all-out good time. Good for work events. We had a group of ten, seemed like a good number; but it would be fine with less or more (get more lanes(?) ranges? if you have more though).
Great place for some good times!!!
Our coach Matt was awesome and made it a fun night for all. All the staff were friendly and did what they could to make it an enjoyable time. Would definitely recommend this to any group looking for a fun and unique experience
Been throwing in league for 2+ years now. I have brought co workers and friends to axe throwing events. Been to tournaments and other special events. Lots of fun! Clean washrooms. Lots of parking. They do charitable work in the community.
We had a great time! Very covid friendly space and fun atmosphere and staff. Highly recommend!
Super fun, relaxed and awesome place. Great for team building, hanging with friends or just even going solo axe throwing. Has food and a bar on site so you can eat while playing. Prices are super reasonable and the staff are amazing. They even have drop in times during the weekend and have a free to sign up league that's both experienced and beginner friendly. Highly reccomend this place to anyone who wants to throw some axes. Merchandise is also available for sale.
Went for a team building event today and had so much fun! I might actually try joining a league. Harry and the other guide (sorry can't remember your name big guy!) made axe throwing easy to learn for a newbie like me.
I had a ton of fun when I got to throw the axes, and the staff was pretty helpful making sure I didnt kill myself in the most hilarious way, but I would strongly suggest to book a lane and not do walk ins. 5 minutes of throwing and then 20 minute wait. Nearly 20 people were there and we were stuck at two lanes with 10 throws at each lane. TL;DR Book a lane with a group of friends and you'll have a blast.
This place is the best in Calgary. Hey DAN BAKER, uber awesome one-arm axe-throwing chief of BATL-Calgary - YOU ROCK! Thanks so much for taking me and Steve on a League night to vent some steam by throwing axes (and at varying angles and inclines to boot). We had SO.MUCH.FUN. Will definiltey look forward to returning to BATL Calgary HQ with my axe-throwing buddies to defend Calgary against zombies at Halloween!!!! Sharpen that long axe. We're on our way!!!
Awesome experience. Great tech for events. Will be back.
Went for a teambuilding event for our small group. A lot of fun, and no casualties!
Had the best time! Staff was AMAZING! Our host Mathew was super cute and funny! Would definitely recommend going here!
Came here for my birthday and had an amazing time. Fantastic instructors.
Great place. My first time here and had a blast. I would definitely come here again Dom
I just celebrated my birthday here with friends and family and we all had such a fun time! This idea is so great for a group event and very entertaining! The staff were so incredibly friendly and fun. The staff handled our group with great care and ensured that everyone was included equally, I really appreciated it! I would definitely recommend hosting a group event here! I'm so satisfied with my experience!
Had a great time, Matt did a fantastic job hosting us for the evening. 10/10 would axe again
So much fun. Our coaches Chris and Carissa we amazing and so encouraging. I will definitely be back.
Went with a group of friends and had a great time. Wes was a really great coach and instructor. He kept us having fun and improving with our throws. Will be back for sure
Very fun for axe throwing, but maybe add more axe throwing stations so lines are not that long.
Got the opportunity to go to this little gem today ! It was such a great experience, our host Joseph P . Did an amazing job trying to tech me how to throw the axe but I did not succeed! My boyfriend did good though !! Will definitely be going back again buy next time with a group of people !
Brother and I took our mom here for mother's day, and it was a big hit. She is already trying to plan future events here! We were assigned Avery for our time, and she was awesome at explaining, tracking scores, and helping with our form/throwing while not being overly involved and annoying. 5*, will return in the future.
Fantastic time! Went for a party, the staff/coaches were excellent at reading the group, those who were competitive got strict judges, those who just want to actually have an axe stick got the right tips and tweaks to make it happen. Fun for all, plus a nice well-rounded drink and food menu, something for everyone!
Great place with great staff. So much fun
Travelled from Saskatoon for a work get together and we booked here. Harry was our guide and he was phenomenal!! What a great way to spend time and have some fun!! Definitely 5 outta 5 stars!!
We went to the Calgary BATL for my husbands 31st birthday and it was FANTASTIC. The staff here are so kind and the entire thing was so well organized. From the training to the tournament to the drink service and billing, they had it down. Excellent time- we'll be back for sure!!
Our evening was nearly ruined by one of your servers on what was otherwise a great event. Staff at front desk was great. Our instructor was great. However there was an error made when we ordered one of the combo dishes. We had ordered the $40 combo, which is what was believed to have been served to us. However, about part-way through eating the plate, we were informed that we were inadvertently given the $80 platter. Despite being an error on the server's part and not ours, the server wanted us to pay the $80. Given that this is double the price we were expecting to pay, we felt this was unacceptable. The server called in management, and we had agreed to pay $50. However upon doing so, the server insisted that he take the remainder of the food that we hadn't eaten back into the kitchen, figuring we had already eaten $50 in food. Not sure what his intent was with taking the remaining food back, but this seemed ridiculous to us. After some protest, the server left the food with us. This server was quite rude to us for the remainder of the night as well. I wish I could give a much higher review, since the facilities and the instructor was great, but this server really tarnished our experience. Sorry. Update: Hi - we received the personal response from Dan and I greatly appreciate your follow-up with us. I've updated my review a little accordingly. As I said, your front staff were great and the instructor was fun, enthusiastic and attentive. The whole food situation was just something I had not experienced before and was off-putting. I do hope we get the chance to come back and have a better experience as it sounds like it was not a common occurrence.
The staff at RMPS came here for a group bonding exercise and it was awesome. Shane and Cheryl were great teachers and made the experience one to remember. The pretzel bites were all of our favs. We will be back for more axe throwing soon!
On May 13th. as part of a bridal shower party, we reluctantly went to BATL. It was the best choice we could have made. Our instructor was B's and he was amazing. Would we all go again!!!! IN A NEW YORK MINUTE. Thanks BATL for a wonderful time.
I've been three times now with different groups ( a 30th birthday, a bachelorette group and once just to take my Dad !) It's always a great time even for first timers. Staff are helpful and great.
So much fun. Super friendly. They teach you how to throw and are very patient. Great idea for a birthday party. Teens from 16 and up can play too
Did not care for axe throwing. We had a large party of 11 people but they didn't open a second Lane. Took forever just watching the others throw. Got very repetitive and boring. Would have been better if they opened a second Lane or if the group would have been smaller. The best part was they had air hockey we could play while bored waiting for a turn to throw
This is a very different experience. Not sure what to expect when we had an event here but the staff have a way of really drawing your into the fun of it. The facility is a little stark but it works for them. It took me a while to learn to throw the hatchets reliable but once you get it its very fun. I would definitely recommend you give them a try and see how you like it. My only recommendation to them is to expand the snack menu. I was hungry but nothing on the menu made me want to order.
What a great way to spend some time with friends. Never tried it before but thoroughly had an awesome time.
Awesome place! They have league nights, open throwing times, and staff to help you learn the basics. They are licensed, so you have sip a beer between turns. It might sound horribly dangerous, but there are procedures in place to keep you from accidentally wandering in front of a flying axe! Super fun, good exercise, and not too much $$$.
My husband and I love going here for competition and fun, they serve alcohol and it’s a great atmosphere. We love the owner and how he took the time to tell us how he started the whole idea of this back in Ontario. Keep up the good work.
BATL is a super fun time - the coaches are always really helpful, making sure that even those that are struggling get attention and improve by the end of the night. The facility itself is big and open, but can be very loud with certain groups in there. They have a good snacks menu and now serve beer and wine!
Staff here are radical! Kayla was our guide and also gave us some expert pointers on how to throw a bullseye every time. After her coaching and about an hour of practice, I am confident I could be a contender for a national team or professional level of competition. Amazing beer selection as well. Would love to be able to throw a variety of sharp objects in addition to their axes!
Fun place to hangout with friends. Would recommend dropping in later in the evening if you want to have more throwing time.
Great for large groups. We have had many adult birthday parties here and all enjoyed ourselves. The staff are patient and knowledgeable. I highly recommend giving this place a try
We tried this for the first time on NYE and everyone had a great time. The staff was very friendly.
We had a birthday for a friend here. Jeff was super helpful for all of us! Especially for me who was having trouble getting the axe to stick! Jeff was kind, patient, and helpful. I would definitely go back :) All around a really cool experience.
Great time. Amazing staff. Great group outing.
Fun time! A little pricey for two hours of fun but the staff is great and I imagine the overhead is a bit high considering the amount of wood etc. I highly recommend this place
Amazing experience. Easy to learn, difficult to master. 100% suggest doing a date night here. (Group date, maybe, as they typically require 6 people min, but they will group you with other small groups if they need too, so don't let small numbers stop you from booking)
Awesome time! Organizers were great kept everything flowing smoothly and everyone organized. Thank A lot! ~Double Dirty 30 crew!:)
Been here a few times and it's always been a great experience. Great fun for team building. Staff always keeps it fun and upbeat.
Awesome time! The staff is friendly and attentive. The 3 beer limit is lame but I get it. Safety first! It's a tad pricey but we will definitely be back.
Always fun!! Though it was packed when we went here as it was corporate challenge week. Still loved my experience!
Fun, exciting, staff are awesome and help you with everything from throwing to pointers. I recommend this place to anyone. If you have never ever thrown an axe this place will teach you and you have fun in the process.
Super fun time! I've gone three times. The coaches are very good at explaining and helping you improve. They help make it a great experience and foster a relaxed but still slightly competitive atmoshphere. Making the atmosphere is tons of fun. They have a competition and practice round. I tried one food dish once and it was surprisingly good. They have a great beer selection with local choices. Definitely will be going back sometime
Had the lane to ourself and it was such a blast. Cool new skill to learn
We went with a group for my birthday. Super fun time! Great coaches. You can drink!
Super fun with a group. Food was tasty and selection of local craft beer was very nice!
We came for a Bachelor party with a number of first time throwers and the staff were extremely AMAZING and fun and very thorough on rules and proper form with throwing the axes. Starting a few months ago myself, being able to show my friends my hobby got them even more hyped up. SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO KENDRA S.(the one that loves pizza) OUR COACH........ASK FOR HER AS SHE IS AMAZING
Excellent experience for a holiday party. The coaches were excellent. To bad I wasn't more consistent, not that it didn't make it fun. Note you are generally throwing hachets not axes.
Fun time! Cool set up. We were a group of 15+. Would have liked more than one coach for warm up.
BATL Axe in NE Calgary was fun-filled and action packed. We went there for a bachelor party and had the privilege of working with Erin. She was great at teaching us some techniques, and even offered on the go feedback. It was greatly appreciated from our party! Will definitely be back again!
Everything about this place is 5 stars so far. We didn't eat but the menu looks fantastic ! The coach we had was super great and helped out a lot. Everyone had a great time at chucking sharp things at stuff !
Fun place that serves food and alcohol/refreshments at same time as axe throwing takes place. Wouldn't recommend for team build as it is really just individual pitted against each other. Half of the staff were super helpful and supportive and the other half seemed like they wanted to be anywhere but there. Food was underwhelming for price. Overall, a good place for friends to hang out casually, but not really great for larger groups.
I love this place! They have great local beers, they are very friendly, will Coach you so that you learn how to throw the axe and where to stand, beginners are welcome, there are walk-ins and you can call in for events. They also have fantastic food! And they are wheelchair accessible And inclusive.
One word...... EPIC! If you are thinking about going and have not...... well I am here telling you that you most definitely should! You will have a freaking blast, I promise you! So what are you waiting for? Go get your axe on! • Great, friendly and skilled employees that know what they're doing. • Fully licensed bar • Serve food • Tons of restrooms and a sink for washing your hands afterwards • Absolutely in love with their toilet paper roll holders as they're made from actual hatchets. Cool, right? Don't forget to sign a waiver before heading back where you will find the divided throwing lanes that are sectioned in lanes of 2/4. You can thank me later :D
Best craic I had in awhile. Throwing hatches is high fun.
