I walked in and was immediately greeted and shown where to go. Immediately Lilly was able to help me renew my membership. My membership was from out of province so I needed to switch over. There was some confusing stuff going on but Lilly was able to efficiently find out why issues were occuring. Finding out that my membership was duplicated sometime in the past (likely when I went from a student to non student account). None the less she saved me some money. And got everything cleared up efficiently and pleasantly.

I'm coming to the realization the membership isn't at all worth the cash it costs. I thought it would be for my teenage son's upcoming driver's education, but it's much more expensive even with the member's discount. I heard its a good place to get foreign currency, but turns out their rate was significantly worse than the banks themselves. Insurance is the same. Registry services are cheaper elsewhere. Movie tickets are cheaper through Costco. Every time I think there's any value to it, it turns out to be a fantasy and the only real value is if you need automotive aid, which for one time might not be worth is either. I'm ending my membership when it expires.

We came here for passport photos for the whole family. The photos themselves were good, but was then told that my wife and kids are not on my membership and hence they have to pay full price instead of the member price. What?? I have a AMA membership, why wouldn't my family be included in that? Not going to renew my membership for service like this.

Went to this place, I was next in line and following the red dot. All of a sudden they let 2 people behind me with out saying or talking to me. The worst part was I was assisted by someone who cannot answer my questions. Waste of time. Will cancel my AMA subscription!

They want you to be there 1/2 hour before a driver's text. Then they are 45min late for the start. Maybe don't book tests back to back so people don't waste their time. Also my kid is sitting there getting more nervous about it.

This review is specifically driver education-based. My son did the training with Mihai Popa, who was highly recommended as connecting well to newer drivers. He was not disappointed and Mihai made my son feel comfortable and calm. Always on time for a lesson and very pleasant to everyone, I am happy I spent the money for AMA training. Huge thanks for this guy, hope he can teach all kids in the NW.

The only reason i'm giving one star is for the guy I dealt with that answered the phone, Bryan was great in helping me but AMA has lost a customer with two drivers and two vehicles that has been with them for 10 years with zero claims. We were rear ended so they would have recouped their money anyway with full coverage on a vehicle. The lady that hit me her insurance was of more help to me! Poor business decisions! Soon as my policy is up i'm gone!!! Would leave now if I wasn't going to lose money for early cancellation.

After one of the worst experiences ever to be had at a nearby A-Plus Registry that wasted an hour out of my day. I decided to go here. A friendly lady greeted me just inside the door and showed me where I needed to go. The wait in line was about 2 minutes. Signing up for membership and dealing with my registry paperwork took around 5 minutes. I came in there angry, but I left happy. I think you may have a new lifetime member AMA!

If it was possible to give this company 0 stars I would. I had to call roadside assistance SEVERAL times to find out when AMA was coming, only to be told different times and that they were delayed... which is understandable. I am completely aware that the time given is only estimated time. Once my AMA truck arrives with my battery for my car (2 hours later.. ok) the driver sits in his car for 10 minutes eating a burger. We are not 5 ft away from him with the hood of our car up. On the phone with roadside assistance prior to the truck arriving I had given them my cellphone number SEVERAL times because they had said the truck would phone me when he was there. So when the truck arrived 10 mins early and I thought to be a decent person and let the man eat his lunch before approaching him. Even though I was right in front of him with my car, again, with the hood up. I received no phone calls from the AMA man and he ate his lunch and drove away. We thought might have been turning around to get a better angle. Nope. So I phone AMA AGAIN. And I ask to speak to Road side assistance supervisor Jason, I tell him my issues and that I was severely disappointed in the service. I explained how I had done my part and how I had done nothing wrong and I would have appreciated to be compensated for my time. I told him I was not going to pay $140 for a battery change because it was not my fault that it didn't get done. Jason told me that the best he could do was give me an extra call this year. As someone who works in customer service I felt that that was extremely poor customer service. Jason even looked up call logs to see if he had called me and found that the man had not called using their automated system - and apparently had used his "work phone" and so they didn't have record. Which is super convenient for them. So I asked for them to make sure the truck was at my house first thing in the morning and was told that "they don't do over night calls" - totally understandable for a customer who doesn't have a complaint. But I was fuming at this point. Either way, the service I had from AMA was absolutely atrocious. Honestly, I would not recommend them to anyone. You're paying $13 a month or whatever for a company to treat you poorly after they've made a mistake. They're super convenient but if you're genuinely in a tough situation you're waiting on them, I'd rather pay the extra money to a company that respects their customers. Realistically it'll equal out to about the same amount anyways. Don't waste your money. Don't bother with AMA. UPDATE: I tried to call Leanne Fernando who was the team manager, or something like that, for roadside assistance just to speak to someone about the poor service and I have YET to receive a call back. Absolutely trash customer service.

Recently did my New Driver training Basic package and was blown away at how encompassing and detailed the lessons were. I had 2 driving instructors, the first being a man who always sounded angry and harsh, and the other being a man who was friendly, helpful, and actually became a friend to me during these lessons. Abdul, you're a great guy and a fantastic teacher. Hanif, not so much.

Between my boyfriend and myself, there were many things that needed to be addressed and she had no problem addressing them (as well as giving us tips on things we wouldn't have thought to ask about). We're both new to Alberta, and Leah helped us figure everything out. Awesome experience!

Sadly, this AMA location is incredibly slow when it comes to serving customers in store. Long line up and only 1 person actually helping people while others are all on their computers doing something other than helping the customers in front of them. It doesn't look good when you have lots of staff but only one or 2 people are helping with a long line up.

Pay a membership fee to wait an unnecessarily long time in line. Shorter wait times and same prices available at any other registry office in the city. Zero benefit to AMA membership. 100% do not recommend. And no, this is not a “COVID” thing. It’s always been this way…suggest hiring more staff perhaps?

Every time I pressed a choice I was greeted with having to make another choice and another and another... After 4 minutes I decided to hang up and call a different registry.

I come here for my registry needs, now. They are much smarter than the competition across the parking lot. Their competitors had insisted on declaring our vehicle a "lease vehicle" on the registration form. This boggled my mind because although we were making payments it was definitely not a lease. Anyway, after repeated failures across the street, we went into AMA and they fixed it immediately. Now I know better.

They are taking virus control seriously, so you may have to line up outside for a while until there is space inside. Everyone is wearing masks and are behind barriers for safety. Washrooms are not available for public use at this time.

We have been paying for years and in the last month have needed a boost twice. Once we were told that the wait was 24 hours and the other time 12 hrs. How is that even service? When things get busy, like in the winter or during a storm, AMA doesn't step it up, they expect customers to wait. This is unacceptable. If you can go elsewhere, you should.

If I could give zero I would. We have had auto insurance with them for almost a decade. They won't approve us for tenant insurance because of a past forest fire in our area a couple of years ago. Our house was not affected. Brutal! Guess we are taking ALL of our business somewhere else.

There was a line-up, being the end of the month, but it moved steadily. They were well-organized with a hand sanitation station at the entrace and physical distancing protocols. Staff were helpful and friendly. They had someone come out to the line every few minutes to see if anyone wasn't renewing drivers licences or registration so they could pull them and get them to the appropriate agent quickly. Very clean, visually appealing space. I got what I needed to do done without any fuss. Good experience.

I was greeted by a very nice lady who directed me to the area where I needed to be. The first thing I noticed was that this is a mask optional location. Next a young lady named Linli came up to inquire what I needed to do and when I told her, she quickly took care of everything in a kind and professional manner. She thanked me for my business and advised me that if there anything she, or they, could for me in the future to not hesitate to call or come in. Then as I exited, I noticed that there was an AMA truck with a sign indicating they were doing 'free battery checks'! Talk about timely, because I had just this morning received an email asking me if I wanted to book an appointment to do just that. 'Paul's was the gentleman's name and when I asked if I could the check done, he said no problem, and within a few minutes he had checked my battery and alternator and advised me that both were in tip top shape and I had nothing to worry about. We had a friendly conversation about a few other things and he thanked for being an AMA member and I in turn, thanked him for his help. Now how can you get any better service from any organization than that??!!

I'm here on a Saturday afternoon to renew plates. Line up is at least an hour wait. There are 2 clerks that are helping everyone. I count at least 5 employees standing around with nothing to do. Why not move them to help clear the backlog? The registry clerks have lots of time to visit too instead of doing the job quickly and efficiently.

This place is terrible! Went in to get a motorcycle insured and was informed that they could not give me a discount by combining it with my existing policy. A policy which I have held for the last 4 years without any issues. So the rep proceeds to give me an overpriced payment quote for seasonal insurance that is only good until October. Fine I don't mind paying a little extra as a younger driver. What I DO have an issue with is she then proceeded to force to me renew my membership which was $87 for the year to receive insurance coverage from a totally different company! So they have no problem taking payments out or allowing you to alter a current policy without the stupid membership but want to add more vehicles that are newer years they make you pay for the privilege. If you like the feeling of getting screwed everytime you come in here this is the place for you.

Wow you Must go here... this was a 1 stop shop for your automotive needs. I ended up purchasing a membership from them today. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by a warm and friendly lady which escorted me to their waiting area and in just a few moments I was being looked after by a very smart lady who knew everything under the sun about the memberships. Great service Great value Great experience. Highly recommend this location ????

Went to get my license changed from one province to another as well as my get my vehicle registered in Alberta. It was almost close to closing when i got there and there was quite a long line after 6pm but the staff was super helpful and patient and took the time to explain the next steps for my vehicle registering. Noticed that they treated all the customers with care and consideration even though it was way past closing time. Great job!

Everyone is super nice as usual. But service was lacking because they were short staffed as only one person was working the registry counter. I came in 5 min after opening and was 10th in line. Didn't get serviced until 45mins later. Plenty of other employees with nothing do but I guess they weren't qualified to work at the registry counter.

In a time of desperate need, AMA was there to save the day and get my car to where it needed to be. My vehicle was no longer operational and required a flatbed since it is all wheel drive. They estimated a 2 - 3 hour wait time and only 30 minutes later I was notified that a driver was on his way. The driver, Phillip, arrived in a timely fashion and he was a pleasant individual to deal with. He made the process of getting the vehicle on to flatbed quick and simple. Within 10 minutes the vehicle was loaded onto the truck and on its way to the shop. Much appreciation to the kind operator who booked the tow as well as Phillip who was extremely helpful. Thanks AMA, I am always happy to be a member!

Both all of my friends and I have agreed that the AMA driving lessons are horrible and the instructors are not that great. You do learn the things you need to learn but sometimes the instructors are on their phone or they tell you to do things as in changing lanes ect. too late sometimes they get frustrated or zone out, but the people who are working in the building have great customer service

Our visit today at AMA was great. We were able to get in the doors quickly. They had a sign asking the appropriate Covid-19 screening questions that we had to answer, saving them from repeating themselves. We had an additional request, aside from our son writing his class 7 learner's test and it was met quickly and efficiently. We were provided the information, he completed his test and we were on our way. We witnessed then sanitizing between clients and everyone using hand sanitizer. A pleasant experience overall. I had a road test today with a lady who is set to fail me... so after examining in NE and getting just 25 points but failing because of curb while parallel parking yesterday, I took an exam today with an examiner who failed me before in Richmond .. this time I made to critical mistakes however somehow she managed to give me 105 points.. i mean 30 for slowing down on right turns! Just because am shoulder checking for pedestrian as per my school instructions I get -30! And before a signal on 3 lane road within 200 meters she asks me to take left turn and when I slow down for shoulder check for every lane change “3lane changes in 200 meters!!” She deducts another 30 points!! I mean how fair is that.. I knew I failed the minute I saw her examining me! Also, my exam was at 4 I was there 20 mins early and just got keys for the car for the test and asked her for few minutes to check the car and start on time but she started 20 minutes earlier and exam was 40 minutes!!! She didn’t give me a chance even to get comfy with car...I think she was making sure I collect enough points to fail!! The question is: are those people getting bonus for failing candidates!!! I drive in dubai for 15 years and got my licence in second attempt and now it’s 3 basic exams and I can’t pass!! I think The company who is handling this is trying to milk people money! People on the road in front of me made elaborate mistakes which I managed to avoid and that never counts because we fetch to give people points to fail them.. If there is one thing I hate about this country so far it’s when I feel unfairness.. how can you give me stupid instructions and judge me with 30 points for slowing down! How can you deduct all the freakin effort I put in something I did accident free in Dubai for 15 years and total driving experience of 20 years with one speeding ticket in my life .. if you ask me I would rather use transit that wasting my time in such system! Where every exam I book 10 km apart because of stupid scheduling system! I hate such people who save no effort to make sure to fail u.. I really pray to lord she tastes her own medicine!

The lady didn't even say they were ama, she just said this is the city of Edmonton XD it's hard to be mad but for real guys I think you may need to look into where your calls are being redirected

I took a road test here and did everything right but manages to fail me. He said I made a traffic light violation when I didnt. I was approaching a red light so of course I had to slow down and stop which I did but on the notes he said I just slowed down and didn’t stop. I wouldve passed if it wasnt for that. Idk if its because of my race and he was white and thats why he failed me or theyre just after the money but I wouldn’t recommend going here

Great customer service, nice-looking interior, social-distancing- 4 Stars, but I just knew the man that was supposed to be my road test instructor would fail me. You know this kind of looks people give you when they judge you at first sight? Yes, that one... but you may never understand if you have never been there. I tried to warm up the atmosphere during the test, and he also responded positively. At the end of the test, he gave me a sermon on how to improve my driving skill. He said, I didn't slow down at uncontrolled intersection (I didn't think so), I was generally too slow (I agree), crossed stop signs (I disagree) etc, I disagreed with some of his points and some I agreed, but the judgement had been passed. Never mind, you may never understand, when people form an opinion of you and they can't even look you in the eyes. But we move from here.

I took my road test and i was very disappointed to the examiner his name was MICHAEL he was chinese/korean guy. I knew it that in the first place he will gonna fail me. He gave me 4 violations to fail my road test which 3 of them are not true. First he was telling me that i need to slow down to uncontrolled road which i did. Second in the middle of green light i turned left but he pressed the break stating that the cars are coming straight which is not if there are well i will wait coz i knew it that it is their right of way. 3rd he was telling me to slow down to the merge sign which i did. Last the parallel parking which he was telling me that its almost on the grass and he didn't give me any chance to do it again. I was very very disappointed and upset coz untill now he didnt send me the result of my road test. This guy is very incompetent. And not doing his job properly. I will rate her ZERO!

I have been an AMA member for more than 30 years. In all that time, I have received top-notch extra-mile service from staff at the NW Crowfoot location. There is a friendly family atmosphere as soon as you enter the premises, and somebody is always there to greet and guide you. I have had the occasional mishap such as keys left inside the vehicle or a dead battery that left me stranded. In all instances, AMA's friendly crew were able to have me on my way in the shortest possible time. I drove down to Calgary from Red Deer to purchase a vehicle from a private seller and when I arrive the seller had limited knowledge and details on how to proceed with the transaction. We went into AMA a half hour before close and I was greeted by Janee who was so understanding and knowledgeable and was able to set my daughter up with everything she needed. Janee even stayed 20 minutes late after the store closed to make sure we had everything we needed. I can't thank the team at AMA enough. It's rare to find this type of customer service and the team at this location deserves a huge recognition! Truly one of a kind team!!

during COVID19 one would think that there were be an increased ability to "book" an appointment to eliminate the 90+ minute line ups that occur outside in all weather conditions, which have included a lot of rain this season. But, in fact, booking appointments has been decreased. One would think that more services would be provided online to also prevent the long line waits. Then after you wait in a socially distanced line for almost 2 hours in the rain, you get inside for a 5 minute transaction and HAVE TO TOUCH THE DEBIT MACHINE THAT DOES NOT HAVE TAP!!!!!!! customer service in person and over the phone has been disappointing at best.

I called the main number to ask if AMA service includes swapping winter tires w/rims with summer tires w/rims, and they said it does and to call Roadside assistance. I call RA and the automated system said that someone will be at the house in a couple of hours. A tow truck shows up and says that he doesn't do that service, and I should call and talk to someone. I called to talk to someone and booked an appointment, and just as we finish he asks me if I know that I will be charged $140 for this. I said no one so far mentioned that there would be any charge, I thought it was included in the the membership. So AMA is 40% higher than other local mobile tire services, so I cancelled and went somewhere much cheaper. And unfortunately wasted an evening waiting around.

Why do members want to have another card in their wallet? An ESSO Card: • One that has money on it and can’t be protected, • One that can be stolen or lost, • One that only offers 2% discount when I’m sure their own loyalty card allows a discount of 5 or even 10%, • One that would require a member to load a substantial amount on to it, if taking a trip requiring several fill ups, • One that can only be loaded at AMA offices only. This shows poor thinking on the AMA’s management staff. A better idea, though still not great would be to make the membership card reloadable then: • The card has a name and signature on it that can be checked • The card is used for all AMA membership uses, so it’s less apt to get lost • There isn’t another card to add to the growing pile the members already have. The best way • Is to not have to load money onto the card, • Make arrangements with a company that will accept the AMA membership card • Offer better than a 2% discount without requiring an additional card or money to be loaded onto a card.

What is this a REPAIR shop for windshields .As a senior I would like to be able to park a little closer to the building. Twice this week had to park further away because there was numerous vehicles getting REPAIRS. The parking lot isn't big enough for old and long time customers .Who's bright idea was it to put REPAIRS in a small parking lot.when it's busy I have SEEN the whole lot full. So this is a bit more about membership itself than this location but I have come to realize there is very little benefit to this membership, it is not cheaper to register, the insurance is the same cost, the lines are the same, it seems like the only real benefit is when you need a tow, boost or unlock and if you use that less than a couple time a year then I dont see this as worthwhile. I wish they would take care of members better I have had one long distance tow where I thought it was worth it but I pay over 250 per year for me and my wife, If I cancelled that and just paid for the services as required I would have saved thousands over the 10-15 years I have been a member. Went to this place recently and was qouted 1800 for insurance I could get for 600 and my current broker. Yes I had a recent fender bender, the first in 15 years, but how can membership mean so little that 10-15 years of dues with virtually no calls is the same as anyone else walking in off the street, its a shame

I did my second road test today. The examiner was extremely rude, very hard to understand. I was about to do the parallel parking. I simply asked the place where he wanted me to park to confirm I understood and he yelled at me: "Don't you know what is a parallel parking?" I said I knew it and that was no need to be he rude. I made one only mistake and he failed me. I read the criteria of assessment and that was not fair. One of the AMA agents didn't help much while I was trying to understand the reason why I failed the test. That was the worst experience I had in Canada. I will do my road test again somewhere else. I'll never go back there!

I went to this branch a few months ago to inquire about purchasing Universal Studios tickets. First thing the agent tells me is that I'm to late because their vouchers come in the mail. I asked if she could give me a price, just to give me an idea of the deals they offer, for future reference. She continued to make sure I understand that I messed up by coming in that late. The conversation continued with her not listening to me, and replying judgmental responses that were not even answering my questions. Today, my mother went to this same branch to ask for assistance in booking a trip to Cuba. The agent's first comment when my mom sat down, before even hearing what my mom needed was 'We'll have to hurry, I have a meeting.' She then proceeded to tell my mom that the package she wants is about 2000$ (I just googled it and found the exact same for 1200$). My mom asked if they could keep an eye out for her for deals. The agent said that can't be done. What kind of travel agency is this? Isn't that what travel agencies do? I am never using their services, and do not recommend them. Horrible customer service. Twice. In 3 months. Shameful.

I came in at around noon. The branch wasn't very busy and the wait time was minimal. The employee at the branch was polite, helpful and efficient. The only reason I gave them a star rating is so I can write this.. Ama insurance with claimspro is a waste of insurance and with your hard earned dollar. The reason people leave businesses like this and put our money back into the banks. This company won't help you! I've given this company a new logo. AMA, also known and no insurance, because it's like you have no insurance even thou you paid for insurance. $6000/year I paid. One time payment. I meant business when I make these payments expecting help if ever needed. The fire in fort mcmurray I received the only mass evacuation payment of $5000. A year and 3 months later with many emails and just as many house inspectors by claims pro to come in and rummage through our possessions, nothing has been resolved. And now we need another FINAL inspection. This will be the inspection of all inspections. Really... And the other 5 inspections were the warm-up this this I'm guessing. In conclusion. It is only my opinion but do not get involved with this company. Ps. My 3yr old daughter will also not get involved with this company. Because if she does, I will cut her from my will. Good bye AMA. I am a gold member with AMA. I wanted to do some travel planning and they tell me I have to pay$200 for me and my wife just to talk to someone. No idea what my annual fee covers. Last year I had their travel insurance and found out they refuse to cover covid. Had to pay for another policy through Medipac. I will not be renewing with AMA.

The only reason that I carry an AMA card now is for the roadside service, everything else is not worth the effort. The travel side is archaic and the people are not really sure what they are doing. The registry is slow and being a member is on no value as 9 time out of 10 there will be a line.....a......very.......slow.......moving.......line. I was asked by a lady from the AMA what I was in line for, so she could make sure if I was in the right spot, and she asked if I had anything, and I did, but I thought 'what was the point?' I could've gone back to the truck, got the stuff I needed and come back in and the line wouldn't have moved an inch. Next time I will go to the nearest registry office and use them as the AMA really isn't worth the wasting of my time. Just as a follow up, the AMA asked me to email them to discuss the problem. So I did. And nothing. Not a word in response. So customer service really is only paid lip service and nothing more. Thanks AMA.

Considering it was also Random Acts of Kindness Day which the company seemed to embrace, he was not very kind at all. We will not be returning to this location.

The wait was 45 min. to 1 hr. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. I had a little problem with my paper work, but Lucy helped me out and we got it all together fir me to switch my registration from one vehicle to another. She suggested I renew my plate on the same day, to save some money! I recommend going to AMA with all your regististration needs. I was worth the wait.

Shockingly unprofessional behavior from a registry agent. Rest assured ill be canceling my AMA membership from this experience. I came in for an out of province inspection form, the Vin number would not show up in the computer, so i gave her my phone (that chose to keep hold of - out of my reach for the duration of the confrontation) with a picture of the vin from another document. while attempting to ask questions, she kept interrupting and speaking over me. after putting a finger up to the air as if to prompt her to pause and let the customer speak, she very aggressively and loudly shouted "do not point your fingers at me!"... i told her to give me my property back and left. i can not fathom how a person in a customer service position could be so aggressive, to talk over the customer AND to conduct herself in such a way. good job AMA, your clearly hire the best.

Very disgusted with the customer service from one of the reps (Chantal). I've had the displeasure of having to deal with her twice now and neither encounter was comfortable. She was discourteous and unwilling to be of any assistance. She refused to take a drivers medical because she said there was a newer version available (the forms are almost identical). I called the Government of Alberta Driver Fitness and Monitoring program immediately after and they said there was no reason for the AMA rep to refuse the older version of the form. I also called AMA and they further confirmed that the rep should NOT have refused the form. I am only writing this review in hopes that this branch will not do this to the next person who comes along, especially if they are older, less able, or less likely to speak out about the poor and unjust service. It is unfair and disgusting for AMA to tell their clients to return to a family doctor or specialist to get a new form, when the other is still accepted by the Government of Alberta. The only reason it was refused was because of the rep's miserable attitude and unwillingness to help. I went to another registry location and they didn't even mention the form and I had everything done in under 10 minutes.
