I just got my class 5 license and its all because of Nelson aka Mr Perfectionist. He might be strict a few times but its good for us. His techniques really helped me a lot in passing my road test in first time itself. He gave me proper guidance throughout my lessons and pinpointed even minute details on which i need to work. I have also heard from my friends that other driving school instructors are more ridged which can be intimidating but Nelson's style is so different that you look forward to having lessons with him. The Alberta driving examiner also mentioned that this school is very professional and their cars are well maintained. Its great that you get a email and txt reminder the day before and the pickup and drop-off at the scheduled location. He is full of knowledge and he will keep talking and talking until you absorb the information and understand why. He even has little toy cars to help with understanding. After working with him i feel so much confident to drive then before. (i thought i knew what i was doing, but i didn't) Thanks to his excellent teaching skills, i was able to pass my road exam with 30 points on the first try! Enrolled my son with Okotoks Driving educations after ready some reviews. This turned out to be an excellent decision. Nelson is really professional and takes his time to explain and make sure students understand and get it right. He doesn't care if the 2h is over if he thinks he need to spend more time in the car the student. Easy to get a hold of him when needed. There has been some major changes lately in the way the road test is performed (it's now provincial/public) but Nelson took time to make sure everything was planned properly (road lessons and test). I will call him for my other children for sure!

After doing extensive research on local driving schools, we put both our teenage kids in Southtrail. Nelson was very reassuring and courteous and when he heard that Gino, our son was scheduled for knee surgery at the end of July, he fitted him in so he could finish before the surgery. Anika, our daughter still has a few hours until she will complete the course and both of them finished their online course.. some will be with Nelson, and some with Ian, whom we haven't yet met. Let me start by saying a great big thank you to Nelson. Both my daughter & I have nothing but amazing things to say about how he runs this school. Right from the very first phone call when I had a tonne of first timer parent questions, Nelson took the much needed time to explain to me how the program all worked. He then took my daughter who was initially very cautious behind the wheel and helped her become a successful driver with skills and confidence. She passed her road test on the first try then used her final two hours to gain more helpful winter driving tips and various other things. Each lesson builds upon the next and Nelson gives the students real life tough situations to practice, coaches them through it, gives them many helpful tips and quite literally sets them up for success not failure. I was able to get my daughter into South Trail/Okotoks driving school at the end of the summer using their convenient online scheduling tool. In order to ensure that she was able to get her training before her drivers test was scheduled, I booked with both Shakil and Nelson, both who were patient and paid attention while providing important tips all along. Pick up and drop off was very convenient at our house. My daughter had been driving for a year so both instructors focused on the areas that still required work. (like parking) Their methods for parking are easy and effective. I highly recommend the school and either instructor to anyone who is learning to drive or preparing for the road tests.

My son just finished his course with the Southtrail Driving School. Even after his first lesson his confidence really improved. His instructor Nelson was very professional. He was thorough with his explanations and really seems to know what he's talking about. I felt very confident in his ability to teach my son to drive. (He only had to take his road test once to pass!) I'm happy with the overall experience. When my other son is ready to learn we will be hiring this company again. When I was researching schools, this wasn't the cheapest but it was money well spent. I have no regrets.

I was enrolled in South Trail Okotoks Drivers School in the beginning of july and Nelson was generous enough to squeeze in 5 lessons for me before the end of the month as I had scheduled ACL surgery and wanted to do my drivers ed before august. Nelson was an excellent instructor. I have been to about 3 different driving school's. I paid about $3000 in total. Crazy i know but I lack the confidence. What helped was Nelson has the passion and knowledge to teach the importance of the road. Save ur money unlike i did. Go to this school because it's affordable and Nelson isn't looking for your money. He's honestly looking to make better driver's on the road. He helped me pass my driver's exam and gave me interesting facts about the road. What more could you ask for? Nothing. Just go to this school.

There are a lot of driving schools out there around Calgary. Right from the beginning all my questions where answered with my quick phone call and there very detailed and easy to navigate website. Nelson was amazing. The very first time coming to pick my son up he went over every detail of the course his experience and was very well organized with his documents to share with me. Current registration ,insurance , police security clearance , criminal record background check and all of his training. Nelson has nerves of steel he is supportive towards his students and his training that he gives every student is exactly what you want your new driver to learn and be taught. With all his training makes it that much easier for the student to pass license first try. Nelson is very knowledgeable with the registry agency around south Calgary which does provide a more hands on training were he knows the test areas and will take the student there to prepare for the test and to make the student feel less nervous about the test. They offer different levels of training and compared to other schools this ones the best bang for your buck and is recognized by insurance company’s.

I spoke to Nelson on the phone today and he was quite rude to me and then just hung up, all i did was ask him if he had any availability and he said hes not taking new students till september and he was rude about it and then when he was finished talking he hung up on me and he didnt wait for me to speak he just hung up abruptly. I worked with Nelson on Disability drivers training with hand controls! Hes is diligent but knows exactly what to teach and how to do it so you're successful! Nelson will take the time to talk to the parent(s) on the first day, show his credentials, background and safety qualifications. That is important. He is able to accommodate to your schedule so the lessons can be booked accordingly. Nelson’s professionalism, experience, knowledge sharing, and quality of instructions in each lesson gave my son the necessary driving skills and confidence he needed. We chose a package that allows him to use the same Toyota RAV4 SUV not just for lessons but for his test as well. He was able to apply what he learned from Nelson and also succeeded on his road test on the first try. Fortunately, he was able to receive his Driver’s License on time because my recent major surgery prohibits me from driving for six weeks. My son is now able to drive me around on an as need basis.
