This Doctor is classified in the category of Walk-in clinic.
This is an exceptionally busy clinic and patients are advised that it might take 2 or even 3 hours of waiting from the time you arrive until you get to see a doctor. The desk staff work hard and efficiently and cannot do anything to change the number of doctors or patients or the speed of service. So, don't be rude to them. They are good people trying to do a good job. Best advice? Bring something with you to read, or ask how long the wait time is after registering and go and do your food shopping. You will get in eventually. The doctors (and I have seen all of them as I come weekly for injections) are universally competent and congenial.
The hours made it convenient to go after work. That was the only good thing. The lady at the front desk was unnecessarily blunt and uninformative. She wanted cash up front and wouldnt give me change till after the appointment. They don't take card or do direct billing for Insurance. Shockingly they charge $150- almost double the going rate for a driver's medical. And finally she wouldn't give me a fax confirmation that she actually forwarded the report to ICBC. (This was after the doctor informed me that the faxes don't through all the time and recommended I follow up with ICBC) The whole experience felt unprofessional. I would never recommend this walk in to anyone! As a follow up: according to ICBC she did not fax my report in.
Very long wait periods... Over 2 HR wait... Receptionists are very loud can hear them across the room. Also they are very slow bringing people into the rooms.. Have to finish their conversations first before they bring anyone in.
There is usually a large group of people waiting outside before it even opens. I've found most of the doctors to be helpful.
why
Closed on a normal Friday at 1pm for no reason
I love this walk I'm clinic, the doctors are always so nice and understanding. I really like the female doctors there, they are sooo kind. Also the receptionist lorraine ( I think that's what her name is, sorry if i am remembering wrong) is super sweet and is always so positive. The wait times are long but I think its because the doctors don't just try to rush you out, instead they try to understand what the problem is.
Slow.. why arent the staff fired if they cant perform their job? Worst walk in clinic ive ever been to.
I checked online to make Sure they were open. They said open until 7pm. We drove in from Coldstream, got there at 5:30pm and they were closed. I had to ask my mom to interrupt her day to take me there. The only place that was supposed to be open today and they were closed. So now I either have to wait around in the hospital for something that may or may not be serious, or wait until after I get off work tomorrow and hope they are open.
I find it convenient great parking come get your prescription there if you need and you have time to wait for your grocery shopping
Lineups, yes, but well-managed. Front line staff are great, considering how rude some people are.
Dr Dreyer is pretty awesome.
Arrived early before opening. Was 3rd in and was out in 30 minutes. Receptionists were very pleasant and professional. Doctor was very thorough and pleasant, set me up for blood work and prescriptions. Considering what they have to deal with, it would be great if we can show some compassion and understanding and treat them how we would like to be treated.
This place seriously needs a more respectful receptionist! No people skills! She hands out playing cards to everyone in the room while waiting to be called up. Didn't explain what they were for just basically threw it at you. She is so rude rude rude! Although Dr. Fourie is by far the most respectful doctor I have seen in years!
Went in and they requested I get blood work done so I had to go to the hospitial then they took the paper the doctor had given me and told me they didn't fill it out correctly so I had to go back in the waiting room until they fixed It. waste of time. If you are filling out the form why not do it right so it doesn't waste everyone time.
Quite good clinic. Longer wait times but with it being inside the Superstore you can always leave to do some shopping and come back after putting your name in. Dr. Fourie is especially nice, attentive and efficient. I've only seen a few other doctors here but have never been dissatisfied. Sometimes they seem rushed, but I expect that is due to the high number of patients as many other local walk-in clinics have been closing.
Wait times are ridiculous. Also, older receptionist has some kind of god complex and gains pleasure from making people miserable.
Went in at 6:30 pm there were 4 people waiting and that they reached there daily limited they close in 2 1/2 hours. They send u to the hosiptal or to come in the morning. But if u are suffering u dont want to wait until tomorrow. They need to get better staff and doctors stop being lazy and do there job.
Okay with waiting time. Understand. But meeting by phone? Seriously? Diagnose by phone and self description? Doctor in a hurry just sent for covid test and said to come back after without many questions about how I feel. Only based on short description from reception.and asked me if my glands are increased!!! Seriously? Isn't it doctors job to examine for all symptoms but do not sent away for test to get paid twice? Should patient know how glands feel like when healthy and not? If so I'd prefer to make prescriptions and get paid myself. DO NOT GO IF DOCTOR ACCEPTS BY PHONE ONLY.
Been going there for years and always good service.
Terrible.. Seriously a huge wast of time..
Miserable woman at the counter, couldn't even lift her head to make eye contact with me. Just told me to read the sign which said they wouldn't take names for an hour. Crappy customer service.
If I could give 0 I would. If they tell you it’s going to be an hour of a wait be ready to wait 3.
Gave them a call, needed to ask if results came in for a test I had done. Lady told me to wait, then hung up on me.
Waited literally an hour and a half and I get to see a guy at the walk in clinic, who legit says what do you want when entering the room. I told him my back hurts and it could be my kidneys and he goes on his phone and googles it and says do you have a fever? Do you have numbness in your legs? No? then your kidney is fine and you just have a sore back and there’s nothing we should do. Told him it hurts so much it hurts for work and he says “well my back hurts and I’m still working” then I’m like um okay.... should I buy back pain killers?! And he’s like that stuff never works.... * I get up to go leave* and I say “so next time don’t come here and just google back solution” and he walks out and says “go to the hospital or just google it see if I care”
This place is a joke. I stood at the counter with my sick child and all 3 receptionists ignored me while I stood there. The medical system in this town is appalling.
Lies about open times.. rude when asked . Won't go back to this one
I was hesitant to visit this walk-in clinic after reading the reviews on Google, but I needed an open clinic nearby and this one was the only option. Contrary to some of the experiences reported here, my visit went well. Wait time was fairly long, but that's pretty much expected across BC. Other than that, Lauren (the receptionist) was friendly and professional. The doctor (Dr. Annerie Fourie) was great as well. Really pleased with this clinic so far.
Although I phoned to verify the wait time, which was told 1 hour on the phone, I showed up with my baby only to be turned away for 2 more hours because they weren’t even taking names. Finally after four hours of waiting, we were able to be seen. The doctor was good. He listened to my concerns and answered all my questions. Despite a weird system of intaking patients ( give you a card with a number just to get registered and if you leave for ex. To go get the baby out of the vehicle Bc your mom couldn’t get a parking spot etc you will lose your patient register spot. Then once you register, you are given another wait time to either sit and wait or come back ????). Given, the only two walk ins that I could find in Vernon, the Doctor on duty made up for the inconsistent information for their actual very long clinic wait times.
Waist of time... Been there 2 times, each time I was waiting at least 2-3 hours, those "professionals" have know idea of what they talking about, I came there with a stomach ache, doctor said " Oh congratulations you might be pregnant" and sent me to do the blood test, if so, then this professional might need to ask last period dates, but seemed like he doesn't care, and and when I said that I do have "bad days" now and it just way too painful, he said "Oh this happens, even while period you could still be pregnant" What???? Well, if you have nothing to do and just want to entertain yourself and see how Doc's imagination can go beyond understanding then IT'S THE PLACE!!!
They don't accept patients after 7pm even though they say they are open until 9pm. There were only 3people in the waiting room at 715 and they were refusing patients. I haven't had a problem with the doctors, but that is false information in regards to hours of operation.
I have had to use the drop in a handful of times. I have always found the reception staff to be efficient and helpful. Obviously the waiting times are long which is a little frustrating but otherwise it has been a good service.
Why do they always hire the most obnoxious, rude people to be Secretary?
New to the area and I just called to see if I could get some info on looking for a family doctor and the lady I spoke to was super rude and was in a total rush to get me off the phone. Will not being using this clinic that’s forsure
Went in for a WCB claim, they didn't even ask me if it was work related, so f'ed up that part of my claim because they didn't submit any of my files, then went on to tell me it was my fault. Dr barnard (better not still be there! ) totally ruined my claim, and my life. Bloody joke of a doctor he is, told me there was nothing I could do, that I would be in pain the rest of my life. Don't go here. Seriously. This place is a joke, always will be.
Brutal wait times, don't answer their phone and take over a week to process a pharmacy fax..if ever and rude front end staff. The worst of the worst!
This clinic has the worst front counter staff. There time management in processing people is deplorable. If they would not gang together and chit chat about one item and thinking about pressing people more efficiently things would go faster. They should entertain and computer self check in at the front desk rather than giving out playing cards and having the patients wait another half hour to just get checked in to see a doctor. They strongly need a professional time management person to come in a steam line there process.
The clinic and staff are fine, wouldn’t listen to the bad reviews. The long waits are extremely frustrating. But, if everyone in vernon didn’t go to the clinic because they got a cold that problem would be fixed. Learn some basic medical skills or google your symptoms. Wasting everyone’s time.
I would rate lower if possible. With only 4 people ahead of me to even check in to be put on the wait list. Over 30 min goes by (no one inside) they, still have yet to call, someone to even be able to be put on the wait list. I still here concussed and in pain but they couldn't care less... They sit at the desk talking and laughing... Why not do you jobs instead? You get paid to actually do something so why not do it? If I could I would fire them all and have them replaced by monkeys. I'm sure even a primate could do a better job... What a joke!.
Great experience. Doctor was very nice, front office was outstanding.
The doctors have all been excellent but it does not function well as a walk in clinic. The wait times listen on medimap are not correct in the slightest. One day we waited 4 hours to get my son in. Of course walk in clinics will have a long wait but if they enabled the online check in (like most walk ins have these days) people wouldn't have to wait for hours in the clinic. Sitting in a room full of sick people for 4 hours is not good for anyone.
Wonderful clinic with great service. They are very busy as one of only 2 walk in clinics in town. They do a wonderful job of serving with a smile despite the hectic waiting room right before the long weekend!
Really appreciated the caring and efficient service here. The reception was fast, and the doctor was very plesent and thorough. We totally recommend showing up an hour before opening if the matter is urgent. We showed up at 8:10 AM and there was already two people ahead of us, and nearly twenty in line by opening. Once they open they distribute numbers, then they call people in that order. There's at least three rooms, so people move through rather quickly it seems. But there always seems to be a line. Once they have accepted or given numbers to a certain number of people for the day, they cut off service. I imagine this is to make sure they aren't working well beyond their service hours.
“Not too busy” . This is supposedly a “live” update. It says not too busy, went around 10 am for that reason and the sin on the door said next intake 12:45. An accurate and up to date time would have saved me the trip. Not impressed.
Contrary to some other remarks about service at this walk-in clinic, I have found the staff helpful, polite and fair. I realize that I normally would have to wait a week for an appointment for a Doctor. MY experiences have been good considering Covid, Masks and having the responsibility of protecting their Patients, Staff and Themselves. I Sincerely Thank Them for Their Service. Brian Long
Rude staff. Not helpfull at all!!!!!
So this past month I recieved a formal diagnosis for ASD: Autism Spectrum Disorder. I went through a private assessment- a long and overwhelming process with a psychologist who had many years of experience working with and diagnosing autistic people. I am in my 20s and receiving this diagnosis late, and it has changed my life so much for the better. When I decided to pursue a diagnosis, I first went to this walk in clinic to ask for a referral to a psychiatrist. I had a very stressful (for me) 5 minute conversation with one of the doctors there, who then told me, "I don't think you're autistic because you can talk just fine." I was incredibly shocked by this ignorant statement (many autistic people are in fact capable of speaking) and without thinking, I responded, "have you researched autism?!" And then he made some comment about how he was a health practitioner, establishing his authority on the subject and I proceeded to just shut down after that. This experience was absolutely horrible for me.He clearly did not have sufficient information on the subject of autism to be making such statements. I still get angry thinking about the way I was treated and dismissed.
I have been to this clinic on 5 occasions in the last few years. Everytime the receptionists register me they then let me leave to do shopping which is amazing because most places make you wait in the waiting room for hours. People should EXPECT to wait as this is a busy walk in clinic. They do they're best for the amount of people they see in a day. All the doctor's I've seen are caring and have helped me which is way more then I can say about most doctor's I've seen before I started coming here. And I was a secretary at a clinic in Winnipeg for 4 years and know the kind of care I have recieved at the North Okanagan medical centre is rare One doctor referred me in for an Ultrasound for my wrist that had been bugging me for over a month after an injury. One took my misplaced IUD out immediately and stayed late to do it as she was the only female doctor. Another referred me to a neurologist specialist which I have known I needed for a long time. And she did it over the phone as I'm out of town and was in and out of emergency. I have only had great experiences here. People need to be more patient especially during this pandemic
Nice front end staff. Slowest wait line I have ever experienced. 6th patient in line and over 1.5 hour wait. Recommend going elsewhere.
Doctor seemed germaphobic and didn't want to be anywhere near me. Just instantly prescribed antibiotics without asking about my symptoms.
Typical waiting time as expected with walk in clinics. Friendly reception desk and clean waiting room. Every experience is a different one so you cant always judge what others have endured, just like mine. You have to check it out for yourself.
Front staff are extremely rude.
Closed early even tho they say they are open till 9 its only 7
Have been going just to this clinic for years I have watched these ladies work hard ,with the volume of people they deal with , and still try so hard to be helpful as possible , yes sometimes it’s tough on them .but just like any job with high volume like they deal with , I always try to be respectful and appreciative. So thank you ladies.
While out skiing from Ontario I had to visit the clinic twice. Each time the wait was minimal and the treatment careful and complete. The two women who handle the desk are efficient and kind.
Dr. Jackson was quite literally the worst doctor I've ever had the displeasure of seeing. Arrogant, dismissive, clearly in a hurry to get onto the next patient and rack up more "diagnoses" to pad his salary. Never going back here and will advise everyone I know not to as well. This isn't a medical clinic, it's a joke.
Waited for 45 mins and I was the 4th person in this morning. The first patient wasn't seen until 30mins after the clinic opened. I saw Dr. Jackson for a less than 60 second consult and diagnosis! He rushed through so fast, spoke so fast and I still don't know what's wrong. Basically told me to do nothing. I have a massive sinus cold and a plugged ear for over a week. Huge dizzy spells and extremely nauseous. Do nothing? I'll never go back. Felt like he was trying to make his quota to go home for the day!
We are new to this area and we were not sure where to go so we tried this walk-in clinic and the staff and doctor were great to deal with and very helpful. The wait time was next to none and they faxed my paperwork directly to my insurance company on my behalf and they made copies for my personal file at home. Thank you to all involved and I would highly recommend going to this clinic as our experience was excellent. Thanks again.
Only a 2 because they are the only ones with a doc that can see anyone today. Horrible receptionist, so rude and inconsiderate. Also have been waiting forever with only one person in front of me...
I have been using this Clinic for the past 2 years and have never had a bad experience there, the staff are very helpful and considerate. Sure there are longer wait times because it is a busy Clinic so do not expect to just walk in and be seen. One thing to remember is that every exam room has to be extra cleaned after every patient due to the Covid Virous, this all takes time. I like the fact that you can phone them for a prescription renewal I definitely give them a 5 star rating.
Too bad you can't do negative stars. The ladies at the reception counter stood in the back and talked about there plans for the weekend while patients stood and waiting. They even would look over and still not stop talking about their plans. Wish we had more options so we didn't go here. Doctor have been good but the ladies at the counter are awful.
The doctors have been great, but their reception staff has much to learn in terms of respectful social interaction. The lady I had the displeasure of speaking with the last 2 times takes an exasperated tone, and is very snappy towards people who have the gall to walk into the clinic without innately knowing their place in line. I would recommend going to any other clinic and if that fails just go to the hospital or procrastinate. I wouldn't expect this rudeness from a fast food restaurant never mind a person working in the medical field.
