As a Google Maps Local Guide, and someone who reviews a lot of businesses and restaurants, I believe the current rating for this service is far too low for what they do and that may dissuade some people from using this excellent service. I have never had a family physician and so I have experience with the medical system in Canada that is very poor in numerous ways. At one point my health declined severely and I was stuck continuously waiting for a specialist appointment which never came.
At one point I was put on medications in another province that offered much better access. Upon moving back to Vancouver, none of the walk-in clinic physicians wanted to renew my prescription. It was a nightmare.
Finally, and only because of Babylon by Telus, which I accessed as a last ditch effort, I was seen by a female doctor really quickly, but that's not the best part of the service. The strength of this service are their excellent clinicians and assistants who stay with you by email until you have your issue looked after. They tried for me and kept trying to find a specialist, and I was referred to someone who saw me and gave me medications, which really saved my employment and probably saved my life.
I even asked them to fax over the information to a family doctor which I finally got by a referral from the Family Physicians of Greater Vancouver referral service, and even though it was months later, they did it right away.
I'm usually a tough critic, but I can't recommend this service enough. While the credit for these things always goes to the professionals and the nurses, I really think the strength of this and other systems of human relations is in the many clinical support staff that coordinate the care and I hope they are adequately paid and have a union that fights for them.
