Love this place, I love the staff!! I'm HUGELY anxious and they were SO good to me. What a loving impression they left on me. They listened to my fears and they we're so gentle upon examination, we talked and came up with a treatment plan for me. Then on treatment day they were so empathetic, they were patient and waited with me till I was relaxed. I like how Dr. El Sherif does freezing, it's so better then past experiences....what a kind gentle spirit he is too. Taija held my hand when I asked her...I know I'm a baby... But seriously I've had lots of trauma in my life and they seriously are fantastic. My kids love it there and they don't mind going. The building is inviting, the colors, the wallpaper of nature scenes, the tvs in exam rooms, the open rooms, the hours, the option of nitrous(laughing gas).. It's all reasons.

I have an extremely high anxiety level and it doubles when I go to the Dentist. I have to take medication to calm me before I go. Yesterday Sept.4 2018 I had to go for a tooth extraction, I always get Dr John to work on my teeth. He is absolutely fantastic ! He knows my anxiety well , and reassured me he would take good care of me. After I was frozen solid and constantly asking me if I'm alright , I had my mouth open for about 2 mins. and the big back tooth was out and he was putting gauze in my mouth. I could not believe it was that fast. He did his job but was so focused on my comfort that when I thanked him I had to give him a hug and thank Dr John for looking after me so well. Went for a a cleaning and was referred to their periodontist. Had deep root cleaning and was then told by him that I needed to have implants. This is very expensive. I was supposed to have a follow up which i was then told he is not returning to this clinic. They did say they have a denturist but saw a one star review so will NOT be going back to Sunset dental any time soon. I feel like I wasted that money on deep root cleaning only to find out I cannot save the teeth.

I always feel so welcomed when I come. Every staff I encounter has been great! My most recent dental hygienist was utterly amazing. I feel awful because I forget her name. She works weekend, blonde and glasses. I told my husband all about her and then he asked me if we’re best friends now. Hahaha!! It is just nice to feel at ease while people judge your mouth. Haha

Getting sent to a specialist for simple fillings for my 2 children's teeth was pretty strange, as of before the previous dentist would of filled them with no problems, I felt our visit their was just to see hygienist and should not have to wait additional months and the travel to London for fillings by so called specialist, if you cannot perform basic dental services like fillings then maybe should just go as a dental hygienist clinic, the staff are friendly, nothing against them, i will be moving to a new dentist.

I've been twice now (once for an emergency wisdom tooth extraction, and a second for a TMJ issue) they've resolved my issues quickly and properly. They were very accommodating in both cases with getting me in quickly, despite it being during COVID times. Had an examination on my wisdom teeth and they suggested to remove them, which they had to surgically do. They got me in really quickly, only a week out, and gave me a prescription for the pain while I waited. The staff were super friendly and accommodating to my schedule and answered all my questions. The removal was quick and easy thanks to the specialist they brought in from Toronto! If I could give 6 stars I would!

Absolutely horrified of the service provided to me. I initially scheduled a visit because I had pain on a lower molar. The dentist told me I had “several” cavities. I have visited about 4 times now and my teeth hurt worse than they ever have. The “fillings” are jagged and feel extremely rough. And there is excess “filling” all over my teeth. Some of it is actually sticking out in a sharp point (I have taken photos). I can’t even eat grapes without being in extreme pain. I will be calling to speak to the owner because not only am I in more pain than originally but now most of my benefits have probably been used up and I will have to pay out of pocket to get these horrendous fillings fixed elsewhere. Not impressed.

I've had 2 fillings here the first one is borderline okay, it was very sharp and feels a lot lower than my other teeth, the second filling was on my front teeth and there is literally still a hole on the underside, it's super painful and bleeds like crazy when I try to floss, i will definitely go somewhere else to be getting it fixed.

I just needed a filling on a tooth and they decided to take a picture of the tooth (Money) He scraped my tooth and looked and finished (Money). Then he said i need you to come in again (Money). I got a clean, tooth fixed, root canal and bridge done in Europe this summer for less than $800 and yet he's pushing close to $400 on one stinking tooth with a little chip. North American dentist are murderers. And this place is guilty as hell!!!!

I've gotten my wisdom teeeth removed at this business. I've had a great experience when I had my new patient appointment and the dentist was really knowledgeable. The actual removal of my teeth seems like they did a good job and they managed my pain levels and my comfort well during the procedure. The care instructions were flawed though. They told me to only take the antibiotics if my mouth starts to really hurt, and to use clove oil for any throbbing pain after the surgery as well as mild pain killers. Both the pharmacist and different a dentist business were shocked that they told me to not take antibiotics during the entire healing process. Long story short, I got an infection and my swelling never went down, and I have an infection that could have been avoided if I was given proper care instructions.

Update: The people at sunset dental in st thomas are very friendly. I hadn't been to a dentist in over 10 years and had alot of issues that had to get dealt with at my cleaning and they were great! Both experiences I had at Sunset Dental were great experiences. The front desk ladies are efficient and pleasant. I had only had my teeth examined and cleaned on my first visit. During Covid-19 the procedures have changed for safety reasons during cleaning but they still did a great job on my teeth. Ensured covid protocols are followed. I had Dr Chan on my next visit to fill two small cavities. He needed to fix my front one tooth as it was all broken behind (you could see that through the tooth). My other tooth had a big chip out of it. My teeth have lost the enamel on the front four so during the procedure I wondered how my front teeth would appear after he finished as I knew he had to restore both teeth. Oh, and one tooth was a just smidgen longer, a mil or two. Today they are both the same length and no chip. He matched the yellow perfectly...good job Dr. C.

This has been a truly great experience. All the staff are welcoming and professional. Dr. John explained what he was going to do and why. Past experiences at dental appointments were accompanied with trepidation and anticipation of pain. This time was different. So little pain as to be negligible to none, as well the procedure I had done was done quickly and expertly. Very pleased with the result. Highly recommend this clinic. Extremely un impressed by the way I was treated by there staff today. Yesterday I was having teeth problem and amazingly they booked me in right away I was very thankful. After my appt I booked for cleaning the next day as they had an opening I kindly explain to the secretary that I'm a new mom. I just had my son 3 months ago and am still trying to get in the swing of things I told her I may be a few minutes late as I had to drop my son off at a baby sisters that was going to cost me $40.00 Today I woke up and didnt realize there was a sheet of ice on the road I ran around trying to be on time. I was 11 mins late I apologized as soon as I got there the secrety then proceeded to inform me that she was charging me $75.00 I unstand is policy. So i paid it. I'm am beyond hurt by the lack of caring and understanding. I would understand if I didnt talk to her the day befor in office but I thought we where on the same understanding. So now there goes $115.00 and no work on teeth. Completely unacceptable speaking I know many clients where the fee has been waived. It was deliberate and intetional. my dentist there is amazing and I'm sad to enot be returning to this office but I will not be taken advantage for what ever personal problem there secretary amanda holds.

I recently went to Sunset Dental for a hygiene/cleaning appointment and met Taljia upon arrival. She was such a delight to work with, I have never been a fan of going to the dentist - however she made the experience enjoyable, explaining every step and making sure I was comfortable as well, as I am also 7 months pregnant. I would highly recommend visiting Sunset Dental, especially if Taljia is working :)

I don't think I will be going back here. I was having a lot of pain in one of my teeth.They did the xray and confirmed it is a deep cavity and the dentist layed out the options for me. Pull it,fill it or root canal. We decided to fill the cavity. I booked the next appointment for it to be filled. I get there and they take me in explain the risks and they get right to work. Things where going good until in the middle of the procedure he says "You have another cavity on the tooth right next to it". When he was done I asked if it showed up on the xray. He pulled up the xray and yes it was on the xray. I said "If I had known about it then I would have had them both done at the same time" He got defensive about it saying" It was faint on the xray and I should get a check up"which indicate to me he didn't pay attention to detail on the xray. Then they hygienist said "We didn't shedual enough time today and it would cost the same if I come back". Which I don't belive is true because I'm pretty sure I'll have to pay for the freezing/medication again. I'm not covered by insurance and can't take the time off work/family life to go back a million times to get these issues resolved.

The staff implemented their new procedures for operating under covid-19 restrictions. This included a briefing to me explaining what I was required to do along with a temperature check and questionnaire. I was provided with a face mask and hand sanitizer prior to entering the actual workspace where I was escorted into a sealed examination room. Once there the tech explained how the entire procedure would be carried out. All this made me feel confident that the folks at Sunset Dental were doing everything possible to safeguard my health, the health of their workers., and to make me feel at ease.

Left my 8 year old alone in the room for her appointment, 20 minutes later she was done, fantastic but nobody came to talk to me about her teeth, what needs to be done, any concerns plus they just booked her in 6 months later and handed her an appointment card. The receptionist asked if I was ready to book her filling appointment, what filling? My family won't be part of your assembly line of dental care, if it happens again we will find another dentist.

I have bad anxiety when it comes to the dentist to the point where I need IV sedation for any dental needs. Seen Dr John who confirmed the tooth needed to be out asap. I ended up in a panick in the chair and he referred me to the specialist so I could get IV sedation done. That same night the pain got way worse and I ended up back at Sunset Dental the next day. Dr John assured me I wouldn't feel a thing and it would take minutes to extract the tooth. He numbed the area, asked several times if I could feel anything before he started work. Told me what he was doing as he did it and when he said, it's out, I replied, really????!!! I didnt feel a thing. Which to me, was amazing. It has put my anxiety with the dentist to rest. I feel I can go regularly now for all my dental needs!! The girls also are wonderful, very helpful and kind. Actually excited to go to the dentist now. Thank you to the staff at Sunset Dental for helping me overcome one of my biggest fears. A++++++++++

Was told I needed three fillings on my last exam here - wife was also told the same on her exam. Our checkup was both done by an indian lady - a different dentist than we had on our last exam there. I was skeptical as I never need fillings - and have never had one done up to now. My wife went ahead and had hers done - she said *BY FAR* the fillings done here were the roughest she's ever experienced. She had face pain for weeks afterwards. The dentist there also said she had to drill so deep my wife may need a root canal in the future. Great! I never had the fillings that were suggested by Sunset Dental done - we went back to our old dentist in Cambridge - one that we have been going to for years before we moved to St. Thomas. And I was told I absolutely did not need any fillings. I get that dentists have different methods and approaches to dental care, but that doesn't seem right at all.

Went for a filling appointment yesterday. Based on my former discussion with the doctor assistance, we decided to just do one tooth filing in order to maximize my this year benefit cover. However, yesterday they did two instead. Didnt know until the assistant and the reception lady gave me the card machine to pay for my portion. I could have been paid much less if they had remember about what had been discussed and leaving the other one for next year benefit cover. I told the front desk lady about the case that they didnt do what we decided to go with but she didnt say anything, just standing in there and waiting for me to put my card into the machine (Based on what i saw and experience she acted like she doesnt care at all). I cant just not paying it since they have a form that make us fill in our credit card information in case they cant claim it with the insurance on our behalf, so they will have the access to my card and take it anyway. If this is the service they provide then i'll definitely switch to the new dental place. I would recommend to double check with them about what going to be done on the day you have appointment.

!!PLEASE BE AWARE!! I went to Sunset dental for teeth cleaning . I gave to front desk girl my insurance and called my insurance and gave them authorization to speak to front desk girl to verify my coverage before we start cleaning. After my procedure was done i was handed $135 surprise bill for permanent Dentition- complete oral exam that i never asked for or was told prior to cleaning. I paid the bill at that time because i was in rush. I called my insurance next day and asked them why i had to pay that and they said it was covered every three years, but they will review the call to check if there was an error on their part. So i went next day to sunset dental to discuss my concern, the girl at front desk (Lindsey) who treated me with disrespect and used very unprofessional language. when i told her about the unexpected charge she said 'its not her responsibility to make me aware of oral exam that was performed". when i asked her they should have been more transparent as to what procedures to be done. She replied "you should know these things its not my job to tell you that there is a mandatory oral exam before cleaning". Then i said its not even just about money and its about you guys being transparent she replied with very sarcastic tone "Oh i know its about money!'. After that I stopped asking her to look into the matter and asked her for copy of my contract and told her Ill file a complaint to BBB and small claims court. She replied again very rudely "go right ahead it wont go anywhere with a laugh". My insurance called me next day after reviewing the call and they said that Dental clinic never requested/ verified oral exam coverage. I already filed a complaint with BBB and waiting for this matter to be resolved. The dentist and hygienist were very respectful and professional, which is why i believe its important for them to know how their receptionist is treating their clients and if you are new client there please make sure you ask them what is being performed prior to service.

Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!! Do NOT use this dentist!! Was informed my grandsons chipped front tooth would require a root canal and a cap at a specialist...cost $1500 to $2000 MINIMUM. And nothing in writing?? Seemed very expensive....Went for a 2nd opinion in Tillsonburg and the HONEST dentist explained the root canal is NOT required AND the cap is only $259.00 with no charge for the visit! Scheduled in 2 weeks! I WILL inform everyone anywhere and anytime about this SCAM dentist.

My first two visits were positive but went back for a cleaning yesterday and my experience was so different. The first hygienist I saw was not available so I had another hygienist and my experience was like night and day. During the cleaning he did the suction briefly and I had to ask for him to do it some more, I was expecting to have my teeth polished after cleaning but instead to my surprise I was told to get up because I was done. I then asked how could I be done when he hasn't even done polishing yet. I was told that it costs $28.00 and I would have to pay out of pocket. I told him that polishing was never an issue on my insurance plan and plus I have two insurances. I wondered why he assumed that I could not afford $28.00.for polishing. I found this attitude to be unprofessional and offensive. He said to me that he can only speak from what he sees on the computer. He then went to the front desk and when he came back, he told me that I can have the polish. In no time he was done, I wasn't offered any water or mouth wash to rinse out my mouth so I had to ask. While doing so there were lots of green polish stuck between my teeth, so I had to use my fingers to scrape it out. When I was done my mouth felt terrible. I went to the front desk and told the receptionist that I had a bad experience with the hygnist and she didn't even take the time to even ask me why. I told her that my mouth feels dirty I need somewhere to brush my teeth so she directed me to the washroom. Before leaving I told the receptionist that if I had this type of service the first time I came there I wouldn't have come back there another time. She still didn't ask what happened. I figures he didn't care so I left. While on the street I was so upset with the experience I had so I called to cancel my next appointment with them and she still didn't ask me why. It confirms that she didn't care.

I just returned home after my cleaning and I just wanted to say that this office has the best staff! My previous cleaning at a different dentist was extremely painful and I needed freezing to even have that done ( and who out there likes needles especially in their mouth?) I had my teeth cleaned and it has been 10 years..didn't even flinch and no freezing what a great visit! Totally negligent. My son was deemed "cavity free" only to be told 6 months later at his following appointment that he had major issues requiring dental surgery and we needed to go for surgery with a specialist in London. I went for a second opinion somewhere else and the dentist was completely dismayed. They absolutely should have caught the cavities in two of his before they got to the point of requiring extraction. Their hours of availability and friendly receptionists are a trap. The dentist that I have seen over multiple visits has done terrible quality work and his only concern is the next time you will return. One example is that I had a bad cavity that I needed fixed. I went in and he told me it only needed a filling. I waited a few months and it still hurt so I asked him about it and he said it needs a root canal which means that I waisted my money on the original filling. I will not be spending another dime here.

Short version of the story: I was at home in Brantford visiting the folks for the weekend, was eating candy (bad I know) and I felt a large old filling fall out of one of my molars. I was left with a big gaping hole in the side of my tooth and my dentist was miles away. I found a few numbers of nearby dentists, but Sunset Dental near London (St Thomas) was the only one who was open on Sundays and could squeeze me in on short notice. To be honest I was floored that any place was open on weekends and SUNDAYS! That is awesome. Both the receptionist and the dentist were extremely friendly and professional. I wish this place was in Toronto because I would definitely switch. I got the filling replaced in no time and didn't suffer any pain/discomfort afterwards. Sunset Dental seems brand new or opened very recently, everything was clean and modern. Highly recommend, especially if you need a dentist who takes weekend appointments!

I was told that I didn't have to worry about my having a hard time freezing and that I wouldn't feel the needles. I went in for my appointment and he looked in a drawer and said to his assistant where is the double lidocaine I put in this drawer? She said she did not know but that they were ordered. So instead of going over it with me he gave multiple needles on both sides and upper mouth that had me crying in my seat. He did ask how I was doing, but I was shaking so hard and trying not to cry. I haven't had that kind of pain in years! Then started drilling and in 2 place hit a nerve. It was one horrible experience!

My husband had 2 teeth pulled about a month ago and he said it wasn’t bad but the dentist did not sew up the gums to help with healing like Dr Mena use to and they still have not healed. Also he sent him out with no pain meds, so when the freezing came out he was in extreme pain. I loved Dr Mena when he was there, I am not impressed with this dentist and I will not be bringing myself or my daughter here in future.
