To all ladies having babies Do not sign private room form ahead of time, even if you have a well planed delivery(c section or induced labour) ahead of time, and you figure out that the room you want isn’t avail anymore, and you inform all the nurses that you no longer need a private room, they will still send you a bill of the stay even thou you have a Medicare and didn’t get the room you wanted, it doesn’t matter, just because you put down you name and address, they don’t care if you change you mind a week ago or 48 hrs before the baby was born, they will send you and invoice and send your account to collection, they are like a loan sharks, patient representative don’t listen at all, don’t even try wasting your energy, I think they deleted my previous post, Worst services every, no decency whatsoever
Worse Doctor ever. I’m not from St. John travelled out of my way to see him. He diagnosed me with thyroid problems. My my family doctor new it wasn’t the issue. I was in peek physical condition, I ran, weight lifted etc. Then over several months I started gaining weight. At one point it was 12 ponds a week. An I would swell so bad through out the day I would put on 30 pounds. I couldn’t even breath. He just your just lazy suffer through an it’s just your thyroid. So then I started question him about other diseases that the pituitary produces cause I was showing sign of Cushing Syndrome. Red/purple stretch marks massive weight gain for no reason no matter how well I ate. My doctor wanted him to expedite a MRI he looked right me and said “ I will NOT do an MRI.” He just blamed it on my thyroid. Mind you the Pituitary gland control every hormone in your body. So I went back home. My family doc was furious, so she took it upon her self to admit me to the hospital to get a MRI an good thing, I started lactating( not pregnant) started feeling very unwell, got the MRI done. I have a Pituitary Marco Adenoma. Which is through my hormones for a loop. My prolactin hormones which was super high an it’s only found in pregnant women. My body was tell me I was pregnant when I wasn’t. I have a tubal done for years. So yes my thyroid is off but not caused by an autoimmune disease. So please advocate for your Health don’t see him. He won’t listen to you at all. You Mr.Dornan don’t deserve to be called a doctor. How many people are you making suffer. Cause of your ignorance I started to lose my eye sight. I hope the Regional Hospital gets rid of you. You never know tho who I know. I’m not just a nobody that u may think I am.
The staff do not listen to a thing you say. Its like talking to a wall. Not all staff are this way, but it seems like the majority Ive dealt with are.
ER staff are efficient for the volume of patients they see and are great with kids. Parking on the other had leaves much to be desired.
Employees where very kind , professional and awesome. Thanks for helping my wife. Recovering now.
Saint John Regional ..... Another Worst Pathetic Company in our Owned City By IRVING .... ? ? ? ? …
Did you know, that food given to you at the regional is not New Brunswick food? Yes folks, not prepared in NB! Or even in Saint John!!!!!!!! Prepared in Quebec?????! Why? Shame on the admins! We are getting our food from a different province? AND a province riddled with COVID! Shame shame shame! Protest!
Great care at this hospital
Quick and efficient. I had a short wait for surgery and a half a dozen helpful nurses.
There caring and medical expertise saved my son`s life two weeks ago. I can`t thank them enough for what they did. Shawn and his wife have 5 beautifull children and they would be lost without him. Thanks to all the doctors and nurses that worked so hard to save his life, and continue to care for him. thank you
The medical system in Saint John is absolutely horrifying. People loosing lots of blood uncontrollably get sent home. They go back they sit there for hours upon hours. No one gets called in by nurse for about 7-8hrs. The nurses r rude and ignorant. They send u home while waiting to get tests done. Can people in the city contact ur mayor or MLA. Peoole need to start a movement to make a change.
Don't expect timely or polite treatment if you're ever actually seen or treated at all. Harbor low expectations to ease the stress of having to put up with the experience. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few years ago my late father was left with us in the waiting room for eleven hours and no one ever came out to see him. We eventually left around midnight but still had to pay for eleven hours parking. Two weeks later when he was FINALLY seen, we found out he had lung cancer... not bronchitis or pneumonia like they previously thought based on the the 3-second visual diagnose you get when you arrive and are put in queue, which I'm sure is why they left him in the waiting room for half a day previously.. This year is the first time I've been back since he passed and there's been little visible improvement. I brought myself in for an epigastric hernia a while ago. After waiting 4hrs, my "appointment" lasted shy of 3mins with some rinky-dink excuse for a doctor who looked at and poked the mass on my stomach where my intestinal lining was protruding, and told me "no surgeons would even come down here for this, what where you thinking would be the scenario?" (to be honest I thought I'd get booked in to be treated for it but I guess that was too high an expectation) and to only come back if it gets to the point where I can no longer push the lump back into my abdomen myself... She seriously told me that. I wanted to know what was going to be done and asked what's happening next, she said "you go home, that's what's next" and walked out of the room like my request for medical attention -at a damn hospital of all places- was some big unreasonable inconvenience for her. After she told me to leave I went to the desk and demanded to know when I'd actually receive some real treatment and they told me a gastric surgeon would get in contact with me EVENTUALLY for a follow up... that was 3 and a half months ago and nobody ever contacted me, and now they say they have no record on file of them ever booking me with a surgeon in the first place. Wish I could say that was surprising. It's not. I haven't been contacted or scheduled for a trip back, I've still never received any treatment for my hernia and I don't have a family doctor anymore (he took a job at the regional and dropped all his patients. that's the kind of staff they have on-hand). They were some of the only people who could help me, but they didn't. What they did do was charge medicare for my visit and charge me for parking. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1/5 stars - I know not everyone there is lazy, arrogant and greedy, and that some people actually care about doing their job (correctly) and helping the people who are there. There are just so many bad apples in the bunch that the chances of getting a good one are far, far, far too low. Lots of lazy, slow, incompetent, workers. It seems getting their paycheck is the only motivation for most of them being there, like teens working a part-time summer job. You get the bare minimum when it comes to service, and that's if you're lucky enough to get seen in a reasonable time frame
The worst place ever. Waiting for more than 4 hours in the emergency department to heal my back pain and they kept calling people who came after to enter before me. After I refused that, the nurse came to lie to me saying I am waiting for less than 3 hours, people enter only by urgency periority and I must wait forever under the possibility of urgent cases coming. The nurse was completely rude, the worst ever is that they gave me the client representative line but no one answered for many times.
If this rating was based solely on Doctors it would be 5 stars because they are great - IF YOU GET TO SEE ONE> Otherwise you will be stuck with a 'nurse practitioner' who carries a huge chip on her shoulder. The atmosphere is generally cold, unwelcoming, and doesn't fit the profile of what a modern hospital in 2016 would be like. Be careful what you say too because they tend to run football fields off what you say and make diagnosis simply based on assumptions and no medical evidence. In my case I had a 2 minute pat down by a 'nurse practitioner' who decided I have carptunnel syndrome immediately after I told her I do computer work. No mention to the circulation issues in my legs nor the heart palitations that have happened in the past or the benzodiazepine I was on. I had provided all these details to the triage nurse who was great - his name was Simon. However, from triage to the next nurse I am not sure what i got could be termed 'care.' This hospital needs to work on their staff big time. Keep the great folks you have and get rid of the ones who have this huge chip on their shoulder and feel its their duty to be abrupt, loud, rude, and arrogant - not many are like that but I do recall one nurse was belligerent to my mother when she was be taken out and its a good thing I wasn't there to witness it because I will not tolerate that kind of behaviour. We pay A LOT of taxes in Canada for crap health care or as I like to call it - SICK CARE.
Very large fairly modern hospital. Wait times in the ER can be quite long at times. Staff are freindly, knowledgeable, and respectful.
It is a very confusing hospital especially if you have no sense of dirctikn.; There maybe signs but you only see them once and if you start the wrong way there is nothing to correct your durdction.; The hospital presumes if they point in one direction you'll go that way and continue, but there should be done reassurance! There are 2 eating areas - hospital restaurant and Tim Hortons - get your coffee fix, or get real food at the restaurant.
I wss in the ER waiting room for just over 12 hours! When the doctor seen me he automatically said it's cellulitis, without even looking at it! And when I asked for my prescription to be faxed to the pharmacy, they nurse put up a big stink about it, but finally said that they would.
Very well organized. This one one of the best run hospitals in the country.
After suffering a major heart attack 30 days ago I found the regional staff to be nothing more than fantastic. The cardiac care unit was spectacular I can’t say enough about the people the men and women at work in that wing of the Saint John regional hospital kudos big kudos. The same goes for Saint Joe the staff there a tremendous honestly coming from Quebec and living here for the last 27 years I have a great appreciation for it to small hospitals in comparison to back home in Montreal I’m extremely lucky
I waited over 7 hours in the ER after hurting my back, the doctor feels my back for 30 seconds and tells me to take it easy. I could have been laying down in my bed rather than sitting in an uncomfortable chair for many hours if they didnt take forever.
I want to say thank you so much to all the amazing staff on 5th floor . I had a heartattack with a 80 % blockage and they took the absolute best care of me. Everyone cared about their job and it truly shows. Thank you all for taking care of me when my stubborn self wouldn't slow down to do so. Your all angels .
Every time I have to go to this hospital or take someone else here, I cringe at the thought. I understand that they are terribly understaffed but the complete lack of consideration from the doctors and some nurses is unnerving. Many times I have just been looked at and told what illness I had; no tests, x-rays, or blood was taken. I'm sorry but you are not psychic. Do your jobs! I almost always have to go somewhere else to get a second opinion and when I do, the new doctors just shake their head in disbelief at the diagnosis given by the previous doctor. There have also been some instances where there misdiagnosis has been life threatening. My now ex and I always agreed that in Canada, we may have free healthcare but you get exactly what you pay for......absolutely nothing!
Visited the hospital's emergency section at 12 AM and was very disappointed with the admin staff. They were so rude when checking my temperature and asking regular questions. Moreover, the lady had mentioned my gender wrong that caused confusion later with the nurses. The hospital management need to train their admin staff to be more friendly and welcoming to patients. Patient is already not feeling well and rude behaviour makes it worse. The nurses and doctor were very cooperative and very freindly unlike the reception and admin staff. 3 stars is for the nurses and the doctor :)
Absolutely horrid for anything mental health related. Staff lacks empathy, knowledge, compassion, and overall kindness. These are all necessities when working in health-care; or the public in general. Choose a profession that best suits your personality; maybe a pet groomer. I witnessed a group of nurses pay more attention to Netflix and tell a patient who needed to urinate but was incapable of getting up- that they had already gone; they let that patient urinate in their bed. Absolutely shocking.
Took 30 minutes to be triaged (national goal is less than 5 minutes of arrival), then took an additional hour just to be registered and put in the queue. Staff very apathetic. Not enough chairs for the amount of people waiting. No measures taken to try to isolate those with the flu from those who did not have symptoms.
Had brain tumour surgery recently at neuro deptt .and post MRI suppose to be done but due to no co- ordination between the staff they bought breakfast which they should have not.senior nurse or nurse manager was very rude. The social worker suppose to contact us within 2 days of discharge which she didnt and my wife caregiver benafits are gone.Update: 26 july'21 So now i m doing my radiation and chemo. There is specific way they will mention that where to perform bloid work at radition/oncology department. After radiation we suppose to do blood work but nobody stop us from going outside i was testing them so what will they do ,they failed that test with "F".when we came back to radiation /oncology desk we were told drop the calender at the door. Update: october 2021 : second round of chemo. BEFORE SECOND DOSE WHICH IS DOUBLE DOSE BLOOD WORK NEEDED TO BE DONE BEFORE YOU START THE DOSE.THEY FORGOT TO CALL ME FOR BLOOD WORK AND I WAS TOLD TO START ON OCT THE 04TH...IS THERE ANYWAY I CAN CONTACT THE HIGHER AUTHORITIES TO MAKE A COMPLAINT AS I AM NOT AWARE HOW IT WORKS HERE IN CANADA
Very thorough. Saved my life. Literally. When other doctors said "pnemonia", this doctor, who I saw in emergency, ordered a cat scan and saw massive lung blood clots. So yes, he goes that extra mile. But you can only catch him in emerg or an after hours clinic. He has no office.
Took great care of me after I got hit by a car
A doctor told me because I smoked marijuana I had permanent brain damage.
Avoid if possible! Waited 4 days for emerg surgery, in total pain, while not allowed to eat/drink for most of it. They didn't change the sheets for 4 days. Horrible conditions, disorganized service.
Transferred by ambulance (which could have ended better if they told me before 10PM, in active labor for the last 5 hours & I called 3 times) from Moncton hospital to Saint John to deliver my healthy baby boy 3 months ago due to a power outage in Moncton. They were all ready, waiting for me. Great services. Great doctors, nurses & staff in general. I had to wait a few hours to get a dose of Tylenol but that's all I have to say. They don't provide much after the baby is born though (3-4 diapers, few pads and one pair of mesh panties).
Had an appointment with Dr Lalonde; great guy, and better surgeon. Had one issue with nursing staff after hearing there was no cortisol left, and she blatantly said it was, "retarded"... please read this and know you sound absolutely unprofessional, and uneducated.
Easy access to Hospital & parking.
The last time I was in the ER, I waited 6hrs before getting in to see a doctor. I was very dehydrated. Couldn’t eat or drink anything. Was there again on Feb. 3/20 with my mom, who had a pain on the right back part of her head and we were sitting there for 8hrs before getting in to see a doctor, which she had no bedside manner. This is the best part when we finally got in, we were only in there for 15mins. It’s completely pathetic ????????
Lots of great services and departments
Great staff all round
Very helpful people. Got you through quickly
The wait time in urgent care is too long About 3 hours ended up with nothing The staff is good and polite
Excellent excellent place to be for heart trauma issues! Those doctors and the nurses in icu are angels. Only complaint is that most times food is not available except for a minimum of Tim’s and not really hot food/meal things and that’s if you drink Tim’s coffee. Be prepared to bring your own foods. Cafeteria is not open on weekends and not after 1:30 in the afternoon.
Recently had heart surgery. If it wasn't for the nurse, whose husband who works at.TD Wealth,I would never made it.Nurses were continually not giving me my medications 2 days after surgery. At one time there was not a nurse on.the floor an awesome cleaning lady had to look for one with no luck. One nurse commented how she couldn't stand people that dealt with addiction.:(.
April 9 I had to have day surgery and I quite anxious about it. I want to give a huge shout out to the staff of the Regional, ...from the moment I walked into the hospital, and was greeted and given a new mask, to the moment I was taken out in a wheelchair - the staff did all they could to make me feel relaxed and comfortable. Nurse Margaret, and all the other nurses in day surgery ..you ladies were so awsome, thank you very much. The orderlies "my drivers", Dr. Sheehan, my anesthesiologist, all the nurses in surgery.Thank you all very much !!
good but needs indian groceries
I am currently a patient. Due to supply shortages, l have to have family member drop off plastic lined bed pads, personal cleansing wipes and toilet paper at my own expense. I have taken pictures of dirty sheets l am lying in. My medications are not being given to me at the prescribed time. Lastly, the night staff are changing my physician and physiotherapist :instructions regarding my mobility. I am not supposed to leave my bed until morning due to 2 falls l had this morning. The night charge nurse is refusing me a bed pan. As I see it, l will either have to leave my bed and risk another fall or soil my bedsheets. THIS IS NOT HEALTHCARE, this endangerment. I am considering legal action.
The staff is good or I would give it no stars and from the outside the hospital looks fine. It is visibly dirty inside. When I had both of my children (4 years apart) there was no hot water in labour and delivery and I had to shower in freezing cold water. They told me (both times) that it was being looked after but that there was no where else that I could go to shower. Also, my mother is unfortunately hospitalized yearly and they don't keep track of her eating (she is unable). They have let her go days at a time without eating a bite of her hospital tray or asking anyone if she's not been fed. Luckily we make sure that she eats. All of my experiences have been awful. I could go on all day. Having said that it could be wonderful for other things that I have not experienced and it is free (somewhat) health care.
I Called the Customer Service rep for the 2nd time this evening at 5:45pm on June 22nd , 2020. She was so rude. Did not attend to my request, spoke rudely when i complained about how she spoke previously, refused to say her name, then ended the call on me. Such person should not be a customer service representative.
Is it a full moon the nurses are being so rude. In ER with a friend who is having compilations from surgery unable to walk and needs a bed pan, was told she was going to have to wait. Just heard another person holler that they need a bed pan now or they are going to have a mess to clean up
My mom had a heart attack, and I wanted to be with her, so I ask the day nurses if I could spend the night with her and there was no problem. It was pas ten and the night nurse told me that my mom wasn’t sick enough and that they didn’t run a motel there so she kicked me out. I had to sleep in my car. By the way, my mom has to have open heart surgery, how is that not sick enough. No compassion at all...but this was just one nurse...the rest of the staff were amazing.
If you want to die...go to this Hospital. Waiting times are very very very long...
I was admitted to the hospital on Sept. 26th, 2014 in the emergency dept., I had a heart attack. The care I received from the time the ambulance arrived, the emergency dept., heart procedure, then on to the cardiac care unit, and then discharged 4 days later. The care and compassion I received from ambulance staff, E.R. staff and doctors, heart procedure - Doctor and staff, Cardiac Care Unit, Doctors and staff was excellent, I have nothing but praise for all these people. How lucky I am to be living in a country that I would automatically get this care, how lucky we all are, we should never complain.
I had a quick visit to Day Surgery yesterday and I can't say enough about the quality of care, the sense of humour the nurses had, and just a general sense of ease when you're there from start to finish. I can't even believe I'm doing a Google review for a hospital visit but I couldn't keep it to myself....... Those ladies are amazing! Every last one of them...
Doctor satya and her staff are kind professional and awesome! Thank you very much x mandy Whittaker
Decent staff and hospital, but waiting times need to be fixed.
The customer service representative was very rude.
WOW...in one word is how I describe the experience. We (mom and I) were at the hospital from March 11-13 (from Moncton) to get a dye test and get 3 stents put in. The staff were super super nice. Everyone from administrators to the nurses to the doctors. They treated my mom like royalty and my mom who is very nervous was very at ease in their care. You guys were awesome....Thank-you so much
certain clinics at the regional need to stop pestering patients. everyone has the right to refuse treatment. I personally didn't refuse treatment I was taught how to give myself treatment and despite being taught by the dr himself how to give treatment to myself and my unborn child, I get constant calls to come sit in the diabetic clinic for 2+ hrs waiting from 7:30am and then when they were told since I have a 3 year old that I can't just sit there and wait for a random 2-3 hrs to be seen every week, treated like I was a 2 year old on time out. BACK OFF
Just wanted to leave a big thank you to the technician in the eeg laboratory today; you were so kind and passionate today we had a conversation shortly before the test was over for my little girl and you gave me great comfort???? thank you so much!
If you are sick enough that you think you should go to emergency - then you are too sick to wait in misery here.
Today My had a appointment for MRI.She told me the guy who did the MRI, His name was Brent, He was so helpful and awesome nature. He helped my wife to stay calm in the machine. Thanks for your help Sukhjeet
Went to the ER on a Friday evening for chest pains, all the front desk people and nurses were very nice and helpful, I was there for 6 hours which is actually pretty good considering I got a cardiogram, bloodwork, chest X rays & a catscan, recently moved from Ontario I gotta sat there was much better service at this hospital.
Not a fan of hospitals or St.John, but had to have a lung biopsy, and there was a chance of lung collapse, which happened. They seem like great people and they fixed me up and got me out of there, of that I'm grateful, and would like to thank the crew on Day Surgery, and the Doctor, as I know they did their best, and I'm fine. I was sure I'd never leave, when the trouble started. I had to stay that night, but they operated the next morning, and I'm fine. Murphys Law follows me sometimes, like an angry dog...somehow they must have distracted that dog, Probably with that hospital food, which is enough to scare away even the meanest dog..If that's what it was, I'd like to thank the kitchen staff as well, both of them...
Wednesday, March 28th, arrived at Emergency by ambulance around 2:30 PM. I just want to say that I was well taken care of by competent professional staff. After several tests, Dr Way reviewed my condition, all tests showed normal, BP was high and he explained what was happening - arranged an appointment with Neurology the next morning (Dr. Chandler). I apparently suffered a mini stroke (TIA). The Cat Scan showed no blockages. I was advised to take aspirin, go for a heart monitor and get my BP under control. My sincere thanks to Dr. Way and his professional staff during my admittance. Further, my thanks you to Dr. Chandler and the staff the Neurology for their tremendous support. Sincerely, Dave bennett
This was my first colonoscopy. Dr. Gillis seemed knowledgeable and kind and explained everything except pain. So me being nice and trusting went in, they gave me the sedation and I fell into a light sleep and woke up screaming and instead of giving me more pain and sleep meds he continued on, the whole time with me screaming. When he was done ans I was back in the room I asked him what the he'll was that and he said it was quite common with women to have pain. I have only ever heard of one other women having pain and that was when colonoscopy had just started. I am still traumatized from the ordeal. I think I will find another Dr for the next one.
Just wanted to say thank you to the staff on the 3A north 66 for their care and thoughtfulness to my daughter in law during her stay at the hospital. ....there is one particular nurse her name is Victoria who went above and beyond. Her compassion is something i have not seen in many many years....i am from out of town and only wish our hospital had the care and compassion your hospital staff has.....thank you
Good care and well looked after
On July 29th I had a reaction from coming off of my meds to fast, I was very dizzy and no strength. I just want to day that everyone that I came into contact that day from the paramedics, person drawing blood, dr and nurses we all very kind to me and helped me through the experience. I just want to say thank you for being there for me it did not go unnoticed.
Nurses are unprofessional and have a poor attitude, family members have been in multiple floors and one thing is constant poor service. food sucks for people attempting to be healthier. Would give 0 if had opportunity.
Workin hard to get things done in hard times. Nice ppl and doing the best they can. Always have as nice a visit as I can under the stress
I'm in the hospital now...staff very good. but my understanding is NO VISITERS so I'm very confused as to why a patient in my ward is allowed to have her husband come in every day. She is Indian but speaks English very well...why is she allowed when the other mothers in here are not allowed to have their children ????
The system is severely broken
Biggest hospital in nb Canada but more friendly service for patients is needed
