Deep dive into the nature and wildlife.

Aug 2013 My wife and traveled across Canada and Percé was part of our trip. I was here more than twenty years ago and told myself that I would come back.Back then I missed touring the area around the rock. After Percé we went around the peninsula and head east to Quebec City. The area here is very unique with many nice views to see.

Ben Van Duppen

Nice. Love the diving Gannets!

Israa Hilles

Watching the Gannets was very much fun, the hiking there was amazing, make sure to spend all your day there????

Camille Theveniau

Very nice walk around the island. You can also take a look at the super cute old houses and see birds colony from the island. Quite impressive!

Ben

Before you purchase tickets to the park, beware that they will not refund your tickets even if the ferry is not available. We purchased our tickets in advance as was recommended but were disappointed to find that on the day of our visit all the ferries were cancelled due to inclement weather. Fair enough, but to our surprise SEPAQ refused to refund our tickets under any circumstances — even though they are only valid for one day and it is impossible for us to get to the island! It's basically a scam. I'm sure the island is beautiful and I was really looking forward to seeing the gannet colony but this is not right. EDIT: Fortunately, we were able to go back the day after and they let us use our tickets from the previous day. But if we had not been able to go we would have been out 40$. Even though everything worked out in the end I still don't think it's a proper business practice. I would otherwise give a 5 star rating for the wonderful experience but taking this into account it gets 4 stars.

Simply amazing

(Translated) Welcoming and smiling staff. Very clean place, the trails are well maintained. The view is magnificent and the crazy side of Northern Gannet is to have you absolutely. The cruise is great too.

(Translated) Beautiful Park! Very well preserved place and beautiful hikes possible. The landscapes seen from the Island are splendid! (Original) Beau Parc!

Rebekah Hwang

I did the "coloniales" trail. The trail was easy and not that memorable. There were 2 washroom pit stops on the way. Once you get to the top, you're greeted by a sea of birds.

Wow

Edi Patricia Nava Quintero

It's a place when you can walk and see the gannet and seals. There isn't electricity, potable water. You can find a restaurant, but in June 2021 it's still close due restrictions. You can buy sandwich and cakes. It's expensive, so I recommend to buy some snacks or sandwich in Perce. The bathrooms are ecologic, no water to clean your hands only hand sanitizer. I recommend to go early and stay there around 2 or 4 hours. The schedule of the boat to return is: 12:30 pm, 2:30pm, 4:00pm, and 5:00 pm.

Robert-François Trudeau

Very nice ...1 item off my bucket list!

Maude Poitras

Cute little town. Lots of small shops and restaurants. Great trails in the outskirts of the town to see different sights. Sadly the day we were there was a thick fog so we couldn't see very far. We couldn't see the Roche Perce. Also, they are several public bathrooms in the town.

A must see

(Translated) Beautiful hike on the island. Bring good shoes. A little difficult to access for strollers and small children. You have to plan a good 45 min walking speed to get to the Colony by the small path. I recommend taking the 1pm boat to fully enjoy the island.

Maxime Soulier

(Translated) It's really worth going around Bonaventure Island by boat. For the smartest, pay for the purchase of the entrances to the park before the boat trip, it avoids the line to the arrival on the island because it corks a little! Possibility to be lent trolleys for children or baby carriers! And finally 4 paths so the shortest is about 45 minutes to go (to the colonies) and ditto for the return, low to moderate elevation and some panels as the course to manage the potential impatience of the youngest, well done . And the small bar once arrived at the gannets is good because no drinking water on the island!

(Translated) A large park is located on the island. You can only get to the park by a pleasure boat, tickets can be purchased on the shore of the town, tickets are sold immediately and on the way back from the island. Pleasure boats leave from the pier to the island, the road to the island by boat is about fifteen minutes. On arrival on the island there are souvenir shops, museums and toilets. But the most interesting thing awaits you ahead, in fact, for the sake of which everyone visits this park. Walking through the park along the paths, among the local fauna, you find yourself on the other side of the island, where seabirds nest, part of the coast is intended for visitors to the park and is fenced off from bird nesting sites. Autumn is a beautiful sight, you will be delighted with what you see. Half an hour before the park closes, the park employee will ask you to leave the shore with the birds and head to the pier to catch the last boat, the road through the park is half an hour or more. From the pier you will be picked up by pleasure boat to your place of departure.

Beautiful

Fadi Wehbe

great walks and views in 4 different trails, + seeing the gannets is a big asset, Rocher Percé is nice too. $42 for the boat ride per adult, $20 per kid. $9 per adult for the park, free if < 18.

You can't miss out on that if you are anywhere near Gaspesie....

(Translated) in spite of the ease of access and the very small size, one of the most beautiful parks I have visited in my life ... The colony of gannets (the second largest in the world) would already be worth the trip, seeing literally dozens of whales from Sentier du Roi was exhilarating. and then the other birds, the seals ... in short, a show. I recommend the cruise around the island before docking, it is worth the 35 CAD it costs ...

Janice Melanson

So worth the trip.

Irving Ortiz

(Translated) Nice place to visit. Bring your lunch. The food at the snack bar is not good. there are toilets and other services. (Original) Belle place a visiter. Apportez votre lunch.

(Translated) The largest colony of Northern Gannets in the world, your eyesight, hearing and smell will be solicited. $ 40 / p for the boat and $ 9 / p for the right of access. Impressing!

Pavlo Kalyta

Make sure you spare a full day for the trip to the Bonaventure Island. The place is a gem! Take the morning boat, as you need 4-5 hours on the island to truly enjoy it.

The gannet colonies on the island are absolutely amazing. It is something that must be seen to be believed.

Beautiful place

Simon Thiboutôt

Very nice hike, not too hard, not too long. You got the chance to see wildlife as well which is pretty unique. Well see the Fou the bassan colony and some harbor seal it was pretty nice. The view is very nice too. I highly recommend this if you are passing by. There is some historic information about the former people who lived there back in the days.

Eric Guigue

You must visit the island at least once !

Christian Saranec

(Translated) I recommend. We took the 10am boat and left with the 2pm boat. Last boat at 4 p.m. Unfortunately one of the trails was closed. The outward journey lasting nearly 1 hour allows you to go around the pierced rock and around the island. Going around the island, we discover seals and gannets. Northern gannets that we discover very close on the island. (Original) Je recommande.

Simon Durocher

Wow, this island is incredible. It is very worth visiting this prestigious parc. The peak of surprises is the other side of the island with the birds.

Antonio Pistore

(Translated) The area that includes the extreme tip of the Gaspésie peninsula is a combination of rare charm and beauty. Beautiful landscapes, nature full of close encounters with the large colony of gannets, gray seals and many other birds. The presence of "puffins" the puffins is also reported, but we have not seen them. We only spent a day and a half on our traveling trip. I think these places deserve a thorough visit for at least a week ...

Good place for hiking and observing wild life.

(Translated) Nice in good weather, classic trail quite simple (colonies). The boat makes us visit the rock and the island with hundreds of birds !! Unbelievable. On-site guide to explain the history and nature of these birds (Original) Sympa par beau temps, sentier classique assez simple (colonies).

(Translated) Superb unmissable place to visit during your visit to Percé. The boat crosses every hour and the last leaves the island at 5:00 p.m. If you want to go see the Northern Gannet colony on the island, THE thing to do in my opinion, plan to cross in the morning since the walk is 45 minutes to the colony. You won't be in a hurry to come back and can have lunch there. Note: plan a fee per person for the boat and then an additional amount per person on the island to access the park. The total price is still worth the cost!

Olivier Zyngier

Beautiful setting. Lots of birds, gannetts, cormorans, etc. Short cruise to get there (i recommend tbe one that goes around the island. Once on the island, several hikes available, none too strenous. Take the boat tour at 9:00am and get off the island, hike it and catch the 2:00pm boat back. Bring a backpack with water, food and toilet paper.

(Translated) It was wonderful ! Between the price of the boat to go to the island and the entrance fee to the park, it quickly becomes quite expensive, but my God it's worth doing. It is truly a privileged and unique moment to be able to admire these colonies of Northern Gannets (beware of people sensitive to bad smells). It is an essential stage of a tour of the Gaspé.

Really nice natural park. You can walk and watch the birds!

Guy Roy

Nice place to visit if you like bird watching and walking. Plenty of both.

Abhi

Skip the visit and hike. Not as great as publicized. Much better places around gaspe to spend a day

Bryan Cngan

The island has only one access which you need to ride the boat which about $40 each. Takes about 45 mins one way. If you wanna do the entire tour of the island you need about the whole day. Opened around 10 i think and last boat will be 4pm. Don’t be late or else ull spend the night there. Nobody lives there I think except for the birds and wildlife... it was a trip of a lifetime

Mehnaz A Bangash

Wonderful and unforgettable!!! Amazing experience on the boat tour to île Bonaventure et du rocher percé. We came across a lot of whales which doubled the excitement along with the crashing waves of the sea that made us all wet.

Absolutely beautiful trails, views, and interpretation centres. Stay to the right side of the boat to get the best view of the seals as you come around the island! And bring your own snacks and lots of water, as there is only one cafe at the dock, and it is quite expensive.

Sheila Southon

Be prepared for a rocky hike of at least 6km of you want to see the gannet colony. Longer hikes are beautiful too and well kept.

U Simard

(Translated) What a beautiful hike along the river on the Roy trail! Two seals were basking their belly on a small isolated beach! And the gannets ... there are no words to translate the wonder that this colony awakened in me! (Translated) A very beautiful place that you absolutely must see. The pierced rock is nice but the island is really incredible. It is breathtaking this colony of northern gannets! Good on the other hand the 40 $ of the boat ..... it still hurts. It's a shame that there is no other way to get that is a little cheaper .... Enjoyed the hike there. We took the shorter trail to reach the view point and on the way back, we took the longer trail that consists of stairs and it was easier to climb down

(Translated) Superb Park with spectacular landscapes. The bird colonies are breathtaking and the Rocher Percé is still so photogenic. (Translated) Do not miss a cruise ship that goes around the island. Then this same boat will drop you on the island. If you take the one at 11:00 you may have the chance (like us) to make an informative walk of 1:30 with Paul, naturalist guide of the Park. Then another 10 minutes walk and arrived on the edges of the cliffs that shelter the mad of Hassan, very numerous !! Continue on Chemin des Roys for 90 minutes to return to the starting point. Beautiful day with a last boat at 17:00 and return to Perce in a quarter of an hour. Beautiful place to visit Calm trails to do and amazing views

Quaint town and absolutely stunning scenery. We weren't able to get to Perce Rock because there weren't any boats available and it was high tide, but we walked down to the beach and got as close as we could. Definitely worth a visit, but we were happy we stayed in Gaspé so we'd be closer to Parc National Forillon.

(Translated) A very nice experience for young and old! Some will be able to take the long route and go around the island as others will be able to go directly to the main attraction of the island, the colony of pond boobies. A paradise for ornithologists but still very popular with neophytes who want to enjoy the view. The boat ride that brings us to the island gives us a breath of fresh air and the opportunity to observe the pierced rock from all angles! If you go around the corner, you have to go!

The tour to get there is a nice extra as they get us closer to the Rocher Percé and the borders of the Bonaventure island. Watching all fauna around (birds, seals) is very breathtaking. We even get to see some killer whales (I think it was them, but I'm not sure). On the island, there's a small restaurant which is convenient if you don't have a snack ready. The trails are a bit ordinary, but depending on the ones you take, you'll get better views. All trails lead to a close-up of a spectacular gannets gathering, and the birds seem okay with humans presence! My only grip is that waiting for a boat to return to the continent might take a while.

Pierre-André Gobeil

(Translated) If you take a boat ride to see the rock from near. Do you plan to have pocket money? You will have to pay an amount of $ 7.20 per adult to access the island otherwise you will have to wait 40 minutes for the next boat. This is one of the most beautiful isolated islands. The cruise from Perce takes you around the island (appx 45 mins trip one way) where you will be able to see big cology of gannet. If lucky, you could also get to see seals during the cruise trip to the island. The elevation of this island is not too high so most of the hiking paths are easy. It is worth to hike till the tip if you would like to see pathbreaking view of gannet colony along the spectecular view of Atlantic Ocean

(Translated) Nice family day with small trails to go to the colony of birds (1:30 round trip) or go around the island (3 hours round trip), there are 4 trails in all, well maintained. There is no drinking water on the island and only 2 places to buy bottles, bring your water! A small restaurant at the entrance of the island, but it is much more interesting to have a picnic in the landscaped area near the colony! $ 8.75 per adult to pay to SEPAQ at the entrance, no debit, cash or credit. Tip: pay your entrance fee to the village Percé before taking the boat, so you will avoid the crowd when the boat arrives on the island!

(Translated) Obviously, the island of Bonaventure! A must! It is true the site is very beautiful and very nature. Of course, everything is touristically well organized, between the logistics of the boat, the entrance of the Park, but despite the crowds, you want to go back. On arrival, there is a briefing by the park guards, and then, it is possible to make a guided tour with a naturalist who divulge a lot of information on the history, the geology, the fauna and the flora. To be continued ! On the island, nature lovers will enjoy colonies of gannets and will be happy to watch seals, cormorants and may have the chance to meet small rodents or red foxes. I hope that all this organization, this work of the park will conserve this ecosystem ... In the end it is well seen, the flow of visitors is channeled on major roads and nature is better. Finally, the day goes too fast! The must of the region! Accessible to the greatest number, families ... (Original) Évidement, l'île de Bonaventure ! Un incontournable ! A nice park to visit. The boat ride from Perce was great with a circle around the Rock and a circle around the island. Saw lots of birds and seals. On the island the Northern Gannets were spectacular to see. Thousands of them. Trail was easy to moderate for all ages.

What a splendid beauty this place is. Truly worry of a hidden gem!!! This was absolutely gorgeous and bewitching. The sights were incredible and flamboyant. This is an amazing place to bring the entire joint family along to. Truly marvelous for picnics and whatnot. Amazing for camping, sledding, hiking, biking, running, jogging, swimming. The staff was bilingual so it was very comfortable. Parking was free and there was wheelchair access as well. Same goes without saying for washrooms. All the families were very posh and clean. The staff was so nice and pleasant and the directions were very well pointed out. This place classifies as natural environment. Not many people know about this splendid place but it's truly worth visiting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Translated) Very nice place to walk to admire gannets, guillemots, seals, whales with remarkable views of the sea and Percé Rock, very well maintained and easy trails, restaurant and toilets throughout the course, the boat ride is a part also pleasure to visit this island which for me is a must when you come to Percé. The island has several ecosystems all very beautiful and well developed. The trails are very well maintained. Northern gannets are beautiful and you can see them very closely, almost touch them. A Canadian bucket list location, Percé Rock is best seen as you cruise to Île-Bonaventure from the Village of Percé. Once you land you start ascending towards various lookout points. You can hike to the other side of the island to see (and hear) one of the largest colonies of Northern gannets in the world, with 51,700 pairs in 2011. The hike is medium level of difficulty but there is a clearly marked trail and a small restaurant to sit and have a cool drink or a snack.

(Translated) Must do! Take advantage of the deck or the outdoor terrace to enjoy the sea air, beautiful animation, the sound of the microphone is greater than that of the interior of the small cruise ship. Sheltered from the wind below, the benches are spread over three or four rows. Passengers can view the scenery through large, drab portholes. Lots of background noise, the microphone sounds cacophonous. Our regret: We did not do the approximately 45-minute hike to see the northern gannets on Bonaventure Island due to lack of time. (Translated) Wow! The gannet colonies are impressive. Arrive early to make the most of the experience, you cannot book your crossing for a specific time, it is first come first served until the ferries are full. At the start, the boatmen take you past the Percé Rock and go around the island so that you can see the colonies of birds nestled on the cliffs, seals and if you are lucky minke whales before dropping you off at the sea. dock. Remember to bring food and drink, as it is quite expensive on site. There are 4 trails on the island, they all lead to the settlements and it's really impressive. Must do once in a lifetime. (Original) Wow! Parc national de l'Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé is located at the end of the Gaspé peninsula, it composed of Bonaventure Island the majestic Percé Rock, the tourist emblem of Quebec. Its famous colony of northern gannets, the third largest colony and most accessible in the world make it a must-see destination, and there are some buildings of former islander's homes to witness the life once there of the last century. Taking the cruise from perce quai to circle the Rock and to the island. There are 4 hiking trails, the simple way is hiking to the Colony where the Gannett stay, then walk 5 minutes to the Lookout tower(you can see it standing over the cliffs when on the cruise), then continue hiking to the dock, it would take 2.5 to 3 hours, observing and hiking, you can see seals in the water and on rocks, and you can observe the Rock from different angles and perspectives. The northern gannet colony has 116,000 birds, a must see! The park opens from May 31 to October 11. Daily fee is 9 dollars per adult, kids under 17 are free.

Watching the Gannet is amazing however the boat ride to get there is one hour and the hike is 1 to two hours. Once you see the Gannet there is tons of flies and the smell was overwhelming. once you include the boat ride and entry to the park it is $50 per person.

I loved how this park offers a variety of trails that all go to and from the Gannett colony (the island's best attraction), thus allowing visitors to pick a route that matches the time they have to spend on the island/physical ability. Trails are well-kept and well-marked. Commodities are abundant and there even seemed to be more paths in development. All trails are relatively easy and the views are great. Definitely worth a stop.

It is a good place to see lots of birds and a ton of them! Though the trails are pretty banal as you got nothing to see as you take the ones that passes inside the island. As you get on the edge you see tons of birds and it gets interedting. Take the cruise that circle around the island to get there it is worth the trip.

Brian Kalte

Ferry to the island toured both sides of Percé Rock before a full tour around the island before docking. Great to see Bonaventure from a water perspective before hiking the island. We enjoyed the hike very much. We didn't find the trail we took difficult at all. I am not a bird guy but it was very interesting. So many birds and they don't get along very well. Not an easy life being a gannett!

Andrew Bossé

The Roy hiking trail is very nice, and of course seeing the northern gannets at the end of the trail. If you're in the Gaspésie region it's pretty much a must to visit. The downside: the ferry ride is almost an hour, and they aren't shy to pack the boat like sardines during Covid times. Try to go off peak hours and avoid the first ferry to the island at 8:45.

(Translated) 4 pleasant hiking trails and above all a unique spot where northern gannets have established their neighborhood. Awesome !! Impressionnant !!

So incredibly beautiful

(Translated) Impressive, the guides know the subject very well, nice discovery, small downside, if you plan to eat there, bring your lunch because in the two canteens there is not much and the prices are exorbitant (Original) Impressionnant, les guides connaissent très bien le sujet, belle découverte, petit bémol, si vous comptez manger sur place, apportez votre lunch car dans les deux cantines il n'y a pas grand chose et les prix sont exorbitants

The scenery is very beautiful. There are many gannett birds nesting in on the island. Need at least 4 to 5 hours to explore the island.

The Park itself is beautiful, a healthy ecosystem with an abundance of wildlife and excellent wildlife trails. However the entry and exit to the park leaves much to be desired. There is no organisation, people are herded together after they come off the boat and not allowed to enter the park until they all get a lecture. The lecture is not very useful since the trail maps are there to read and treating the trails, flora and fauna with respect is the usual practice in a natural park. Then there is a crush to go through the booth and pay and you are finally allowed to be in the park. On attempting to leave, people wander down to the dock to wait for a scheduled boat, but there is no orderly line so you hang around. Then the boat comes and only a few people can fit on it, and there is a wild rush for the ramp. Then all the people who are lined up on the ramp waiting find that the next boat comes to another ramp and they are then at the back of the line and miss the next boat. Some people even missed 3 boats. There was no communication to the people about how soon another boat would come, or about how many people it would hold, and where to line up. Unfortunately, a beautiful day in the park marred by a very unpleasant experience at the end.

(Translated) Wonderful landscape. This Percé Rock is so impressive! ???? The landscape is breathtaking. It is now forbidden to walk to the rock in order to protect the species that live there and if you did not know, there are a little more than 5 Tons of rocks that fall per Week from this mastodon. Too bad the restaurants are overpriced in Percé. Know this in order to plan a budget, it is a bit excessive. Also plan the crossing to Bonaventure Island. (Original) Magnifique paysage.

Beautiful park. It's a pleasant walk up to the top and the views are incredible. Definitely Italy worth a visit!
