This Doctor belongs to the category of Animal hospital.
I highly recommend Upper Canada Animal Hospital. Dr. Turpel is a top notch surgeon and the rest of the staff are exemplary in their knowledge. Always courteous, thoughtful and gentle. The care they continue to render my aging Goldendoodle is second to none and much appreciated.
I cannot rave enough about Upper Canada Animal hospital. Our lovable golden retriever recently had knee surgery, and they exceeded our expectations and really went out of their way to make both our dog and us feel comfortable and concerns taken care of. They gave us many personal update phone calls, were always there to address any questions or concerns, had every detail organized and easy to follow, and even made a take-home book of her post care including photos of our dog. I cannot recommend them enough! We are so grateful for their professional care, kindness, and thoughtfulness.
I can’t say enough about UCAH - they are AMAZING! Our dog and cat have been patients of UCAH for several years and recently our dog had 2 TTA surgeries - within 6 months. The veterinarians, the technicians and the office staff are all incredibly helpful, and always available if I needed them. They phoned me the first few mornings post-op, to check-in on Buddy’s progress and to answer any questions or concerns I had. They emailed me his X-rays (pre and post-op) and explained everything in detail. They definitely go above and beyond to keep pets and parents comfortable, happy and healthy. I highly recommend them to everyone.
UCAH rating should be10stars, not 5! ???? Their website/great reviews and first point of contact sold me on them. Thank you to Dr Turpel & his team for their exemplary dedication, compassion, service in the care of fur family members (and the added support provided to their owners)=:) Mika (bullmastiff) was diagnosed w/a CCL tear in her right hind leg and required TTA surgery. Dr Turpel & his team provided us with all the information regarding the injury itself, surgery and post op recovery details. Mika was sent home w/a dossier containing discharge summary, instructions, medications/schedule. This was of great aid keeping her meds/rehab schedule organized and on track. A busy Dr Turpel also called later in the evening of the day she had surgery to ask how she was doing/if I had any questions/concerns and to reach out to him or his team for any questions /concerns we may have at any time. The staff would also make regular calls to check in to see how things were going. It was comforting/reassuring to know that Mika was in great hands/was in the best care for this surgical procedure and continued to receive the same during the recovery process. I had the utmost trust/confidence in Dr Turpel & his team. Mika had her 8 week checkup a couple of days ago and she is healing well. With UCAH, your fur family members are in the best hands/care! They go above/beyond. They will exceed your expectations. Look no further. On behalf of us/Mika, thank you once again Dr Turpel and team!
Super friendly and caring staff made us feel welcome from the moment of booking right to the end of our appointment. This was our first trip to this veterinary clinic, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. We spoke to a few other clients outside who have plenty of experience with this clinic and are equally as happy. We noticed right away how calm and at ease our 12 week old puppy was in their care, so that made us feel even better.
We love the team at UCAH. We have always felt well cared for, and you can see how much they care about their patients in every interaction. Our dog actually pulls to go into their clinic, not out. We have been going there for 3.5 years now, for everything from wellness visits to knee surgery. Shout out to Crystal, Sarah, Dr Kanerva and Dr Turpel for going above and beyond on a routine basis, always taking the best care of our dog. 10/10 recommend this vet clinic for dog owners.
We drove in from Toronto to visit UCAH. I had both of my dog, Beau's, CCL tears fixed by Dr. Jim Turpel. One surgery was a TTA and the later surgery was an Excap repair on a very old and scarred knee. Beau healed perfectly after both surgeries with no complications. While Beau attended his appointment he received great care. The clinic was always busy, the staff were very nice, I enjoyed having a coffee while we waited to see the doctors. Dr. Erin was also very nice. Would recommend! Thank you to all the staff who helped Beau get his life back. Although the recovery process is generally stressful, Beau is now up and running and feeling great, we can't thank you enough!
I've always recommended everyone to take their pets to UCAH. And this last year has really shown why that will never change. My boy Leo is on his way to a full recovery from his second TTA surgery, as he has blown both of his knees over the last 10 months. I sincerely wouldn't take him anywhere else. The love, care and attention shown by Dr. Jim, Dr. Angela, Dr. Erin, Tracy, Crystal, Sarah, and the rest of the staff that have helped and supported us has been incredible. Thank you UCAH.
My 7 yr old chocolate lab mix, Ren, just had her second TTA done by Dr Jim Turpel and I can say without a doubt that him and his entire staff (Erin, Angela, Sara, Crystal, Tegan etc!) all treated her with the utmost of care and have made both surgeries go as smooth as possible. They are always available to answer questions, going above and beyond with the compassion and kindness they show. I would highly recommend this clinic to any pet owner not only in the Niagara Region, but all over Ontario. They are well worth the journey. Thanks again for bringing my girls smile back :)
My doctor was very throigh with my dog and took plenty of time to figure out everything with my dog. They were calling me for updates every second day. Our doctor explained me everything and how to chnage my dogs diet to make sure he was well.. Very helpful, professional and through.
Dr. Erin is the best vets I have ever come across! She is very knowledgeable! She gives me tips on training, anything that would be unusual about my pup, and even showing be different ticks and what to look for! My puppy is a 12 week old Husky, we only brought her in because she wasn't feeling well and it was the only clinic open at 8AM, when we did bring her in the Vet did a full examination and on top of that the place was extremely clean. I took my pup, Orca to the vet in St. Catharine's as soon as I got her just to make sure everything was good when we brought her back from the breeder. All they did was check her heart and cut her nails, they didn't even put a new blank down for her... At Upper Animal hospital Dr. Erin even went out of her way to ask if it was our first puppy together (although we both had family dogs, we never had a puppy on our own) and when we said yes she gave us different places that we should go for training if we were going to do that option, along with talk to us about grain-free diets, raw diets, and what would be best for our pup. The one thing that stood out the most, we when she asks what the breeder used for flea and tick, I did have to tell the front desk as I was waiting for a response. The following day she called me and said that the brand doesn't cover ticks! I contacted the breeder and he thought it covered both. If Dr. Erin didn't ask about the flea and tick preventative that she was given there was a chance that she could have got a tick that carried Lyme disease. By far the best Clinic and best vet around! A place I can count on.
Our senior cats are very well taken care of thanks to Upper Canada Animal Hospital. Highly recommend.
The staff including Dr Turpel Is very understanding and knowledgeable. My furbaby was checked on even once we got home. My only issue is wishing i could payments. Such an expensive surgery was needed. So hard in this day and age to afford life !!
The treatment and care was beyond my expectations. I highly recommend Dr. Turpel for anyone having to go through a CCL. The staff kept me at ease with updates throughout our stay.
Upper Canada Animal Hospital is amazing. From the moment we call into the front desk, all the way through to our visit and the follow-up afterwards - the care is excellent and always welcoming. If 6 out of 5 stars were possible, we would be rating it a 6! Dr. Erin Kanerva, is the most dedicated and caring vet; she is an immense talent and we are very grateful to have her as our vet. We simply cannot say enough positive things about the ENTIRE staff and team of vets at UCAH. 6 out of 5 stars! Highly recommend.
Portia’s mom we love the upper Canada animal hospital they are so. awesome , so happy with the surgery very would definitely recommend them to everyone!!!!they care so much for the furry friends that come to the hospital ….would never go anywhere else…and Portia loves them to bits….
Dr Turpel and the vets are amazing!! Krystal the receptionist was help kind and patient in helping me finds ways to pay my bill. I had my dogs knee repaired here. We were given all the important information about her surgery and aftercare. I definately recommend here for any sort of orthopedic veterinary surgery.
I was referred to Upper Canada Animal Hospital by my veterinarian for a CCL surgery for my little guy, Opie. From my first call to UCAH to discuss our next steps, to the consult with Dr. Turpel & throughout the surgery, I have been amazed by their attention to detail and how they've put me at ease. The updates throughout the day of surgery, the personalized recovery plan they created for me and the follow-up calls to see how he's doing at home have been such a comfort, as I was definitely more nervous about everything than Opie ever was. He's just a few days post-surgery, but I'm very hopeful that we'll get through our recovery with ease thanks to how much they care. Everyone has been attentive and helpful with my questions and we are looking forward to our first check-up in a few days. Thank you!
Quite simply THE BEST vet clinic in the Niagara Region. I have been a client for years, and my pets have received exceptional care. Dr. Erin K is compassionate and intelligent--I trust her beyond all measure. Checking in with Crystal, Sara and Beth is a pleasure and they take care of all our insurance needs and food orders. Vet techs are professional and know their stuff. They have helped us through a number of medical emergencies and treat our pets like family.
We had a great experience with Upper Canada Animal Hospital and especially Dr. Turpal and the staff that assisted our dog. Our dog had a cruciate tear that was surgically fixed, which required him to have an overnight stay. We received updates before surgery, immediately after surgery and 4 more times until we picked him up the next day. We even received a follow up call from the surgeon and hospital the following day to ensure our dog was adjusting well at home. They are very attentive with the care they provide and highly knowledgeable, we never had a question unanswered. We were provided with all the verbal and written information we could have asked for and most importantly, they cared for our dog like their own.
I really can’t say enough to capture how amazing this vet hospital is. I’m truly blown away by how kind, compassionate, and caring Dr. Turpel and all of his staff are. All the way from the initial consult to the post-op period, they were always available and willing to answer any question we had and even checked up on us on their own will. I’d have no doubt any pet is in the best hands here. We came out here from Toronto and it was 200% worth the long drive.
We had entropion surgery done here a number of years ago for our chow, Kuma. Everybody was super polite and friendly. Nobody felt rushed and we were given all of the time we needed to have things explained thoroughly. I want to personally thank Dr Turpel one more time for doing such a fantastic job.
I don't even know where to begin. From the time I sent an email request in, they got back to me within 2 minutes. Then, I was booked for an appointment that fit my schedule. My puppy hasn't had good luck at vets and would have to be muzzled and vets/vet techs couldn't go near without a bark. My puppy walked right in, was nervous of a new place (Covid Puppy) and was greeted by the most welcoming staff. He was being loved by all the ladies, didnt cry or bark, got lots of treats and just the best care by the Doctors. THANK YOU so much!!! Toby loves his new vet!
If I could give 10 stars, I would! Our 1 yr old pug, Beau, needed surgery for a "Luxating Patella" this past April, and our vet referred us to a surgeon in Mississauga... while waiting weeks to hear from this surgeon, I started looking elsewhere and found UCAH. After 1 phone call, UCAH booked us in for a consultation & surgery a few days later, and also gave us a rough price estimate and recovery schedule so we knew what to budget and expect (which no other Surgeon would do, unless we paid for a consult with them). The consultation with Dr. Turpel was amazing, and put us as such ease for leaving our baby girl with them for the surgery. He came to the parking lot for the consult, and took his time listening to our concerns and our dog's history, explaining the surgery/possible unexpected things he might run into, and answering all of our questions. With our own vet, we felt rushed, but with Dr. Turpel, we felt so respected and valued, and that he truly cared about our Beau. We trusted him immediately. Everyone we interacted with at UCAH was so personable, kind and empathetic. They sent Beau home with a binder of paperwork, including a letter from Dr. Turpel on how the surgery went, next steps, recovery schedule, and other helpful information for preventing the same issue in her other leg. The icing on the cake was a selfie of Beau and a Technician printed on the front page of the binder... That just showed us how well cared for Beau was during her sleepover at UCAH! They followed up regularly via telephone on how our Beau was doing, answering questions/concerns, and reassuring us that we were doing an amazing job (which meant the world to us). Dr. Turpel also made it very clear that we could contact him directly if something urgent came up with Beau. All in all, Beau is now fully recovered from her surgery, and for the first time in 6 months, running around on 4 legs.. happy and strong! We cannot thank Dr. Turpel, UCAH and their entire team, enough... I am so so thankful this level of expertise and specialization is in Ontario. HIGHLY recommended!
I would give more than 5 stars if I could. This is elite healthcare for animals! Dr. Turpel and his team are wonderful.. So much expertise kindness and compassion. It is clear that everyone who works there is an animal lover. Our "boy" had knee surgery and his recovery has been amazing. The team at Upper Canada Animal Hospital are with you through the whole experience - from a much appreciated post-surgical phone call from Dr. Turpel himself, to a check-in first night home, a personalized chart (that included a rehab schedule) and follow-up calls. I highly recommend Dr. Turpel and his team. Thank you from Tyson aka the "Gentle Giant" and his Mom & Dad
All the staff at Upper Canada has always given my dog the best care and compassion possible.
As a new client, I was absolutely thrilled with the care and treatment of my old cat. They were extremely patient in allowing her to adjust to the office.
The best experience I could have asked for. My dog went in for CCL surgery. The surgeon, Dr. Jim Turpel was incredibly personable - made sure that our dog was comfortable before doing the examination and provided so much knowledge on the surgery and what to expect. We recieved calls and texts before and after her surgery from the staff and surgeon. Such friendly, kind people! A big thank you to everyone that helped make us feel reassured and confident in our experience.
We were referred to Dr. Turpel for our cat's surgery. She needed a leg amputated due to cancer. I was unsure if I was doing the right thing, right from the very beginning, Dr Turpel put my mind at ease. He came in from his holidays to do the surgery, he was afraid it couldn't wait. He even offered to take her home for the weekend (the hospital was closed) to make sure she was doing ok after the surgery. The staff treated us so well before, during and after the surgery. I'm really grateful to Dr Turpel and the staff at the hospital. They really went above and beyond our expectations. Our cat is now thriving, she was running one week post surgery. I can't say enough good things about the Upper Canada Animal Hospital, and I would recommend it to anyone.
Dr Turpel was very good with both my dogs. The whole experience was made easy by the very professional team led by Dr Turpel
I took my dog Elly in for corrective surgery on her rear leg. Dr Turpel took the time to explain the work that needed to be done in a friendly easy to understand manner. The surgery went well and they did follow up calls to make sure there were no issues. I had sent a photo to them to make sure the swelling was normal, and had a response within a couple of hours. Overall a very satisfactory experience and I would have no problem recommending them.
I don't normally post reviews, but I feel compelled to share just how special Dr. Angela and the wonderful staff at Upper Canada Animal Hospital are. Dr. Angela provided exceptional care and love to first our beloved Scruffy, who has since passed, and now to my beautiful little rescue, Louie. She is one of those rare individuals who combines compassion and empathy with exceptional professional and personal skills. First Scruffy and now Louie have received both love and the best possible care from her, and I can say without hesitation that a beloved pet who finds him/herself under Dr. Angela's care is truly lucky. Thank you so much, Dr. Angela and staff, I am so grateful for all you have done for us and for always being there.
Right from the very start, Dr. Turpel (call me Jim he insisted from the get go, lol) took great pains to go through the issues plaguing Kingston. It was instantly apparent, how much he loves animals. Sadly, Kingston required a front leg amputation but it was totally apparent how much he cared and took a great deal of time explaining everything to me to put my mind at ease. From then on I've met a number of his staff and they have all shown the same degree of caring and compassion. Their follow up is exceptional and I would not hesitate to recommend them. Kingston is home now and well on his way to recovery
I can't say enough about how amazing everyone at Upper Canada is! Every single member of the staff here are incredible and truly care about their patients. They always follow up and want to make sure that their patients are getting the best care possible. I had an issue that I forgot to mention in an appointment and they were more than happy to have a follow up appointment free of charge to have another exam done. They are honest and up front and seem to always follow latest evidence to guide their practice. I am very confident that my puppy is in good hands whenever I bring her here.
Last Saturday morning our Lab Milly woke up, with all due respect, looking like Don Cherry's dog "Blue!" The left side of Milly's face was swollen underneath her eye which seemed to have transformed her into this one sided facial English Bull Terrier!! I phoned Upper Canada Animal Hospital immediately for Milly, who will be 12 years old in September and has been going there since she was an 8 week old puppy. It is wonderful that UCAH is open on Saturday mornings for, in our minds, this type of emergency. Staff apologetically said that all available appointments were booked but asked if I could take pictures of Milly's face and email them. I sent the photos and waited. It was shortly after noon and I had resigned myself to the fact that this would probably have to wait until Monday. Milly was not in any obvious distress and true to her Lab form was eating without any difficulty!! I received a phone call from Dr. Stephen an hour after UCAH had closed. He asked if I could bring Milly to the office since we lived close by so he could see her. Dr. Stephen who is extremely kind, compassionate and very knowledgeable, believed Milly had an abscess that was draining. He started her on an antibiotic and we made an appointment for first thing Monday morning. Milly did have an abscess! In fact x-rays showed she had two more on the verge of draining and one other potential abscess that we would be back in another few months to have taken care of!!! UCAH Dental Heath Care Treatment Plan to the rescue and Milly is back to looking like our Milly:) An aside to this happy ending... Dr. Jim Turpel has Milly still running like a gazelle at her age after repairing her torn cranial cruciate ligaments, in each knee, at the age of two and the three years old!! Dr. Angela Granacki has been Milly's "mainstay" providing excellent care all these years and keeping her in optimal health! Dr. Erin Kanerva has seen Milly on a few occasions and received wonderful and compassionate care! Dr. Stephen Gajadhar has proven to be an amazing addition to the UCAH Team! Tracey Niven, who always has a warm smile, is kind, caring and has been a great support through UCAH in our community here in Niagara on the Lake! The Staff at UCAH is welcoming, friendly and caring which has been so evident during this pandemic! It is definitely a "Team" effort at Upper Canada Animal Hospital. Everyone at UCAH goes above and beyond in providing the best care for ours and yours "furry" family member... Sincerely, Susan & Allen Snider
Dr.Trupel and all staff are A1. Our Diesel had a torn Cruciate Ligament repair. The care, compassion and professionalism this office gives is outstanding. I highly recommend this office. Great job team, keep up the hard work.
Our dog, Zeus, had TTA surgery at UCAH, my wife and I were more than pleased with the experience we had with the staff and Dr. Turpel. They are very professional but also very compassionate in the care of our pup. The staff called us twice, to see how Zeus was doing and Dr.Turpel called us to check out Zeus' status. The professionalism of Dr.Turpel and his staff is above and beyond anything we have experienced before. I highly recommend this veterinarian and his staff. A++++++
I discovered Upper Canada while working with Golden Rescue in adopting my Golden boy Sully. Upper Canada has been incredible - the front desk staff and vet tech's are amazing, and Dr. Erin has gone above and beyond with Sully and his care. They are more expensive than other vets that I've used, but they also have provided the best care in my experience. Highly recommend!
Our little guy scratched his eye Friday night. We called Saturday morning and they were able to take him for 8:30 am. They were super friendly and followed up on his progress the following week. Dozer is now 100% again. Thanks for the great job!
We have been with Upper Canada Animal Hospital for many years now and have only positive experiences to share. From regular wellness visits to more complicated procedures the staff treat each visit with the same level of love and care. We highly recommend them, and if our German Shepherd's Tikka and Brix could talk they would too.
Upper Canada Veterinary is an amazing place with phenomenal staff. They are committed to the highest standards of pet care and have always work collaboratively with me when assessing my pups needs. Awesome place!
I have been using Upper Canada for the care of my dogs for some time now. Always compassionate to their needs as well as my family. Great care and handling of my boys(dogs) and they love going there. Always a friendly smile and much love from the staff. Thanks ladies for all of your care and support these past years.
I recently switched my vet to Upper Canada. We have an 11 year old Pom who required dental work. Everyone is super friendly and very informative, from the front desk staff, the vet assistants to the vet themselves. At every step we have received thorough information, detailed reports and all our questions have been fully answered. Their follow up care and professionalism is superior. We are very happy to have dealt with Upper Canada and will continue to bring all of our pets here when needed. Thanks kindly ????
in November 2020 we found out that our young dog had an ACL injury and required orthopedic surgery. Before committing to a orthopedic vet I did my research, called approximately 5 vet hospitals. When I called Upper Canada Animal Hospital, they were very friendly and took time to explain and answer any questions that I had. We decided that based on our first impression and reviews we would take a drive up from Toronto to Niagara- on -the -Lake to have the surgery. Dr. Jim Turpel, Dr Erin Kanerva and vet tech staff took the greatest care of our dog Franek (Frankie). We received a call right after surgery to let us know that everything went well. We were sent home with a daily detailed schedule of what needs to be done during recovery. During the 8 week recovery time we would receive regular phone calls from the Upper Canada Animal Hospital to see the progress of recovery and to address any concerns that we may have. Dr. Jim has provided us with his personal e mail address and advised to e mail him at any time with concerns. We are very happy with our choice and would definitely recommend Upper Canada Animal Hospital.
As long time "patients" of Upper Canada (for multiple pets) we have full confidence in the abilities of all the Docs and Tech's working there. When we have had emergencies, they were quick to respond and react, while being caring and sensitive to our immediate needs. They have also been candid in advising us when further treatments are not the best route for our feline or K-9 family members. Doctor Erin was so kind to us re the final days of our Tonkinese, Echo, including looking for ways to mitigate expenses without compromising treatment. Dedicated, professional, empathetic and thorough, to us, the Upper Canada team is well qualified to deal with all aspects of any of our pet's treatment. It was also so kind of them to also make a donation in Echo's name to research. As for their facilities, they are so clean and welcoming, I'd personally be happy to be a patient there. Thanks everyone - Sandi Johnston & J. Richard Wright
This clinic is amazing, my dog had to acl surgeries. All the doctors are fantastic, helpfull and patient every step of the way. The surgeon is unbelievably incredible!!!! He is the nicest and most kind veterinarian I have ever met. ❤
After three different opinions I found dr turpel and felt extremely comfortably and confident right from the start ! He goes above and beyond for your pet ,. He doesn’t just do it for the money he does it because he loves his job ! I’d recommend him to others , already have !! He not only does a wonderful job , he has a wonderful team , and your pet will be on the best hands with the best treatment !
This is our second experience with Upper Canada Animal Hospital & Dr. " Jim " Turpel. Both hind legs had ruptured cruciate ligament repairs, known as a TTA. 1st surgery a year & 1/2 ago on R then L this year . Her recovery after 1st was remarkable . Dr. Jim's expertise in this type of surgery is renowned and his reputation stellar. The guidance provided for recovery exceeded our expectations with a very detailed booklet outlining everything . Thank you to the staff who go above and beyond.
Our Portuguese Water Dog, Colbie just had a TTA repair of her CCL, 2 days ago by Dr. Turpel. This hospital was highly recommended by our local veterinarian. Trust me...its worth the drive to Niagara On The Lake (which for us was an hour away) no matter where you may be driving from. Having a background in healthcare (on humans) and dealing with specialists, Dr Turpel and team go above and beyond in extra TLC. While we have an interesting 8 week recovery "to do list" we know they are a phone call or email away with answers to our questions. Roxanne & Dave
Not usually one to write reviews, however I am simply amazed by this vet. My dog was hit by a car and fractured his hip bone. My regular vet referred us to this clinic and I couldn’t be happier. My dog ended up having a femoral head excision (FHO) by Dr.turpel. The surgery went well and they made him very comfortable. Having your dog undergo surgery can be very nerve wreaking, however the vet himself called me post operatively and the night we brought him home as follow up. The cost of the procedure in my opinion was reasonable as well, my vet estimated 5-7k and told me I may have to go to Toronto or Mississauga, because it was an orthopaedic surgery. Upper Canada however charged around 3k which included pre-op bloodwork, anaesthetic, pain meds and fluids, the overnight board and postoperative medications. They also took 100$ off because I was referred by my vet. The vet seemed honest and compassionate, and the team was friendly and translucent with care and cost. Would highly recommend you go here, especially if you think your pet may need surgery. They are simply the best ! Thank you for fixing our dog, so happy to have him home and healing !
I do not normally post reviews but have to say the amount of time/care and follow up care we received from Upper Canada Animal Hospital has been amazing! Dr Turpel and his team have been above and beyond our expectations - making us feel comfortable every step of the way. We are in the initial stages of our healing journey but with their reassurance we are confident in our pups recovery. Would definitely recommend this clinic!
Upper Canada ranks 10/10 in their care of our beloved Havanese dog, where he is treated like each staff person’s own pet. Everyone there is so caring and dedicated, and their services are at the highest professional level. His veterinarian is Dr. Erin Kanerva, and she is wonderful in every way. Not only is she focused on his health, but she ensures that every clinic visit is a happy experience for him. If he has had a health problem, she explores all treatment options, and we ask her what she would do if he were her own dog. We always get a follow up phone call from Dr. Erin the day after any procedure, or if he has been unwell, to check up on him. Our family is encouraged to phone with questions or seek advice at any time. We feel that Upper Canada's, and Dr. Erin’s, team approach ensures the best veterinary care for our dog, and this gives us total peace of mind in terms of his health.
This is Frankie my seven year old cocker spaniel. Dr. Turpel did a TTA on Frankie's second leg two months ago. The first leg was done three years ago, it was a TPLO. I was referred to Dr. Turpel by Frankie's amazing doctor two months ago. Dr. Turpel and all the staff at Upper Canada Animal Hospital were fantastic. The TTA that was just done was amazing. Frankie was using his leg the second day and was doing so much better and the recovery time just amazed us. Two months later Frankie has full use of his leg and just wants to go. Thank you so much for taking such good care of Frankie.
We read about Upper Canada on line and are so happy that we chose them to look after our dog. Rolly has had two knees done now and the support just never stops from this Team. We drive 3 hours one way to get to them but just marvel at their work and their love and care for animals. Could not have dreamed of anything better.
With Covid I finally got in to meet with Dr. Jackie Gallienne, Callie’s Vet. She is very nice, didn’t feel rushed, and informative. First time seeing the office area due to changing vet. Lost Dr. Sam at Lock 1 due to health issues. Miss her very much, but after checking around I went to Upper Canada and I am very very pleased. All the staff that I have met are great. Would recommend them to anyone.????
I can't say enough good things about Upper Canada Animal Hospital with whom we've been dealing for the past 5 years. Their staff is absolutely amazing! Recently, our little poodle Liberty was showing obvious signs that she was really sick. I contacted Upper Canada, and Dr Erin, whom Liberty loves, called me right back to inquire about the symptoms and informed me I should bring her in asap. Once I got there, Dr Erin diagnosed her and explained what needed to be done. 24 hours later, our little pooch was back in tip-top form and as happy as can be. In the meantime, Dr Erin had even called me for a follow-up. That's awesome! Thank you all at Upper Canada Animal Hospital. You guys really do care.
I decided to bring my yorkipoo to Upper Canada Animal because our vet in Toronto had diagnosed her with Legg Calve Perthes Disease upon doing some xrays and recommended FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) procedure. Dr. Jim Turpel (He introduced himself as Jim but I have so much respect for him haha ) and his team are absolutely amazing. From the responsive & attentive administrative staff (Hailey & Crystal were both super informative & responsive) to Dr. Jim Turpel himself, I could not believe how professional & organized this Animal Hospital is! The minute that I pulled into the parking lot, parking spots were well designated with signs and a number to call. I drove 1.5 hours to bring Mia out to see Dr. Turpel for a surgical consult, so I decided while we waited, we would just walk outside to give Mia a bathroom break. Dr. Turpel was still with another client and he already knew it was little Mia that was waiting & next! I am thoroughly happy that I decided to bring Mia to Upper Canada Animal Hospital as Dr. Turpel's assessment & recommendation were honest and with Mia's health & wellness as the top priority. After spending some time with us in the parking lot for the assessment, Dr. Turpel didn't even feel that it was worthy of a consult fee. Vet bills have been expensive for us on this journey and I really appreciated that Dr. Turpel was only looking out for Mia's best interest and did not put anything before that. Thank you Upper Canada Animal Hospital, I will be keeping you in mind for any future assessments that Mia may require (hopefully not!)
Dr. Turpel (Jim) and the rest of the amazing staff took very good care of my little Peanut twice now. She went in for her first surgery in October on her left hind leg, and then back in December 22 for the right leg. I was extremely nervous and anxious for both surgeries and had a hard time keeping the tears in, but they understand your feelings and do what they can to comfort you and your pet. Jim said due to her size (5 lbs) these surgeries are very difficult, and that I have no doubt. She is taking a little longer to recover after the second surgery but I am hopeful with a little more time she will be 100%. The care and concern from Jim and the rest of the staff is second to none. I had e-mailed my concerns to Jim a few times and he always replied quickly. The staff also calls and does their check up to see how things are progressing as well. As much as I recommend UCAH, I hope after our 8 week check up we don't have to visit anymore! ;-). Thanks for taking such good care of my baby!
If you are looking for an honest vet who is professional and down to earth... look no further! Dr. Turpel could of made a lot of money off of us, but instead put our malinois's best interests over profits! Thank you for your honesty!! You can tell he treats his staff great too because everyone i talked to on the phone was always so friendly! Thanks again and we will be recommending you to anyone and everyone who needs special care!!
