I have now been waiting over a year and a half for a referral for a rheumatologist and I just got a call this morning to ask me to come in and sign some paperwork because apparently 'the Ministry' doesn't have me registered as their patient.
This is the first time they've called me since the walk-in office where he was located was closed (notice on the building indicates they were evicted).
This is the first time in six months that I've heard from them.
Before that, was a year of unreturned phone calls that I made trying to get an update on a referral that was promised to me in February 2016. The one time I actually spoke with the receptionist, I was told (at the 1 year mark) that the paperwork had only been given to her a week prior, the rheumatologist that it was for was retiring in a month and wasn't accepting new patients, and that she would see about getting me an appointment with the Asthma Society (I do not have breathing related problems).
I haven't actually been into the office in over a year because every time I went in, I was handed a script with no explanation or discussion. I felt uncomfortable being on 13 pills a day with no reasoning behind it, the pharmacist said that three of my medications were just variations of the same thing. When I brought this up to him and asked if we could discuss other options, he accused me of calling him a pill pusher and got super defensive. My quality of care disappeared after that visit so I haven't been back. I believe that the reason I haven't gotten a referral yet (something that should have only taken 6 months, tops) is that it's some sort of punishment for disagreeing with his prescription writing.
I have been trying to find a new doctor since February but we've moved and it's been difficult to find a doctor that I feel comfortable with now who is accepting new patients.
Don't waste your time with this guy.
