This Doctor belongs to the category of Medical clinic.
Well first off, this clinic doesn’t deserve any stars. I’ve never in my life dealt with a rude, unhelpful, and very unprofessional receptionist before! No wonder this clinic has 3.3 stars. Id also like too mention that when you go for any health related tests, expect too wait months!. You think as a physician office they would take more care of their patients and do follow ups , but not this place!. People don’t waste your time with this place, go too a different clinic that actually knows how too do their job
I’ve saw two of the doctors at this clinic both of which told me that the post car accident pain I was in was just normal muscle pain and that the bulging discs and degenerative disc disease in my spine are not the reason I have back pain at all. And that the C/T scans I had don’t mean anything. Being about 1/4 of the way through trying to tell the doctors about what was happening with me, they proceeded to get up and head for the door to leave. This place is brutal, they only care about how many numbers go through the door, do not go there if you want a doctor who cares about helping you or giving you any constructive advice whatsoever.
After taking my daughter to an x-ray on request by one of the walk-in doctors at the clinic the receptionist called us but we were not home at the time and for an unknown reason she didn't leave a voice mail telling us the doctor wanted to see our daughter back at the clinic. After getting back home we saw the clinic's number in the call display but was after hours so we waited for next day for someone to call us back but nobody called us. Around noon we decided to take our daughter to the clinic. The receptionist seemed very embarrassed for having forgotten about us and with an arrogant attitude told us the doctor wanted to see our daughter again but there were three people ahead of us and that would be a 2 hour waiting period she told us we could go home and comeback in two hours. We did step out of the clinic for about one hour and came back to the waiting room to wait for our turn, meanwhile 2 hours went by and adding to the 1 hour we were out made 3 hours waiting. We went to the front desk and asked how much longer would be until our turn. The receptionist answered us showing some disliking toward us that there were 4 people in front of us and that would take another 2 hours waiting. That would have made a total of 5 hours waiting to be seen by the doctor. I asked her how could that be possible if we were told 3 hours earlier that there were only 3 people infront of us and now after 3 hours waiting there's another 4 people and another 2 hours waiting. She ignored our complaint and didn't answer looking at us with a look of indifference. We went back to the our seats but were so frustrated that a few minutes later we ended up telling her to remove us from the waiting list and left the clinic very upset. It was a very unpleasant and frustrating experience indeed. We didn't deserve such a treatment. We don't know her name but she is an older lady in relation to her co-workers. We were there previously and were treated very nice by a very polity young lady but this one was totally the opposite. We hope that whoever is in charge of the Clinic can have a talk with this person and teach her how to have more respect for patients that need to see a doctor. After all she is just showing disrespect for other human beings and maybe she should have chosen a job that doesn't have to deal with people.
Came in for the first time and was told to come back in 2 hours at 6:15pm, I arrived at 6 and they had closed up without calling or letting me know.
Ruby at the front desk was lovely, and I could hear her being courteous over the phone too. Dr.Stone was really nice, I was there for an infection. Polite, efficient.
I came to the Spall Walk-In Clinic as a first-time patient, and as a new resident of Kelowna from Ontario, and had nothing short of a great experience with them. I was greeted by the kind receptionists, given the same attention as the patient's of family doctors, and was treated graciously by the doctor. Will be going back for any medical needs I have.
Turned away at 4:45 after we were told they were open for walk ins until 5.
Seeing Dr Segers for approx 8 years was a very big mistake! He just cares about handing out prescriptions. I moved out of Kelowna and my new doctor in Alberta has already found 2 things that Dr Segers just kept giving me prescriptions for and not examining... Turns out 1 is a skin condition that NEEDS to be treated asap. Thanks for nothing doctor.
Doctor was great - reason for 2* is receptionist announced my procedure to the entire waiting room while booking my ultrasound, no concept of privacy.
tl;dr If you have ADHD, avoid Dr. Stone because he won't listen to you even if you have all your medical records and a year history of being on the same prescription, and will probably significantly lower your dose without asking you any questions about your ADHD or your meds efficacy. --------- We all know that walk-ins are a nightmare if you have ADHD and need a med refill. There's mountains of stats and research saying that doctors discriminate against people with ADHD and women, but I expected that having 2 years of medical records and my most recent prescription bottle (along with a year of the same prescription history at the pharmacy) would mitigate some of the headache. It didn't. Dr. Stone said that even with the medical records and (non-suspicipus) prescription history, he wouldn't continue my prescription. He significantly lowered my dose, stating something about "not wanting to cause insomnia"--this despite the fact that he never even asked me about my sleep. ... Or literally anything else about my ADHD. It seems to me as if the doctor doesn't actually know very much about ADHD and how it functions, yet has no problem telling people with ADHD how their brains should work. So, at the very least, if you have ADHD avoid Dr. Stone. He won't listen to you and you'll be left crying the afternoon away because you can't even trust the medical system to facilitate your health.
I had to stop off here while on holiday and I found the front desk staff, especially Tina, to be amazing. She was multitasking like a pro, keeping things moving, answering a million phone calls while balancing the patients. She did everything with a smile on her face despite what appeared to be a very overwhelming amount of work all at once. I was there for a couple hours witnessing a lot, and I felt it necessary to give her a shout out.
Quite difficult to make an appointment with doctor, but doctors are great and care about your concerns
Friendly staff, Knowledgeable doctor!
We had a horrible experience at this clinic. My wife was healing from our pregnancy and went in to cauterize the wound. The doctor asked me to leave the room. The doctor was very rough with my wife and opened up her legs to the point where my wife screamed out in pain. I rushed into the room to find out the doctor ran out and hid in another room. My wife has struggled through the ripping of her pelvis muscles now for over a year and she just had to buy a cane to help her to walk. We are still considering suing this clinic for malpractice and what this doctor did my wife. I highly recommenced that you do not go to this clinic. PS To add to this, the doctor was supposed to be at our son's delivery and she never showed up which should have been a red flag for us.
I really dislike A) when doctors tell me that I don't have what I do have. B) completely disregard my feelings and act like robots. C) give you no recommendation, advice, information etc when you are trying to pry it out of them. D) ask anything about your past medical history. all of this equals a waste of time for a hurting person who now has to visit another clinic. Cool. Staff was lovely.
Amazing staff at spall medical. I called at 6pm to see if they were taking anymore Wallin’s the receptionist said no but when I explained it was for my son who’s four she said hurry down. The doctor was fantastic and when given a prescription, the receptionist phoned then faxed to Costco to make sure it could be filled before they closed. Great service and caring professionals!
Wait times are long during peak seasons (new flu shots or outbreaks) but the wait is always worth it. I've been going here for years and have always had pleasant service; the staff and the doctors are patient with you and kind. They do ask that if you are attending the walk-in to keep your visit to one or two ailments but they do offer appointments if you need them.
Awesome
I have to rate this place at 1 star, since I can't rate it at zero stars. I hope you don't have pancreatic cancer. My partner went to Dr Schriemer and ended up dying from this disease. This doctor was unable to diagnose cancer, even though my partner had all the symptoms for over a year. His health declined until he died in November of this year. We had to go to KGH Emergency to finally get a diagnosis, and by then it was too late.
My wrist has been broken for a month now and I still haven't found time to come here.
(Translated) excellent service, great Doctor (Van Heerden) (Original) excellent service, great Doctor (Van Heerden)
Being new to Kelowna, I wanted to find a good walk in clinic with friendly staff and knowledge doctors. Spall Medical Clinic and Walk in is just that! I bused down to the clinic and arrived around 5:30pm (mind you the clinic closes at 7pm). I walked up to the receptionist who then asked if I had an appointment, to which I said no, and then asked if I had a file with them, to which I said no again. Now there were others ahead of me on the list that day for the walk in, however few of them were present in the waiting room. The receptionist informed me that the wait could be anywhere from an hour depending on the flux of people that received service ahead of me, and that I may not see the doctor because closing time was drawing near. Nonetheless, she put me on the list just in case, and so I waited. As I waited more people came in seeking walk in service but were turned away. It was too close to closing time and there were so many people ahead of me on the list that the doctor wouldn't be able to see newly arrived patients. I realized in that moment that the receptionist squeezed me in as the very last person for the night. Of course, this could be seen as a draw of luck, but the receptionist could have just as easily turned me away too. The wait was long as I was told (30-45min), however those ahead of me were given service in a timely manner. Then, after feeling nervous that I wouldn't be able to see the doctor that night, it was finally my turn. The doctor listened patiently to my knee problem and gave a well informed diagnosis and remedy. I feel lucky to have received such wonderful service. Of course, not all Walk in experiences are the same, but as a first time patient with Spall I'd say they did a very good job.
Excellent doctor and staff. I've been a patient for 22 years.
I never got to get in because they reached capacity. I really needed to see a Dr and the receptionist was beyond helpful in tracking a clinic that was still accepting patients. She was kind after I'm sure a long day. I wish I got her name but it was Thursday August 18 at 4:45. Your lucky to have such a great employee
I've been going to the walk-in for the past year. It's good, the doctors there are have been understanding and helpful. I only wish they were taking new patients for a family doctor.
The staff was incredibly polite, accommodating and efficient. With five doctors in the office I can imagine it gets hectic, but those ladies held it together and got stuff done with a smile! It was actually kind of incredible to watch the wheels in motion. My doctor was truly wonderful too, he wanted to get to the bottom of the problem and offer assistance anyway he could. I didn't feel rushed or belittled. The only reason I hesitated on giving them the full five stars was because of punctuality, but I can't hold it against them too much as I was a walk in and didn't have a booked appointment. Brilliant experience!
Went to see a doctor a few days ago about difficulties breathing and was told that it was just stress and to ignore it. Then went to a different clinic and found out i have something wrong with my thyroid.
A busy place but a necessity
I have been a patient of Spall Medical Clinic & Walk-In for over 5 years. I have found all the doctors and office assistants to be professional and caring. When the walk-in is busy, the office assistants are great at estimating wait times. As such, you don't have to wait in the clinic for your turn. Rather, you can leave and return later without fear of loosing your spot in line.
Rude receptionist.
Been here many times find the service top-drawer.
The ability to check-in, receive a time and come back is great!
I have been a patient at this clinic from day one. I can't say enough great things about the the staff and the doctors. Ted Montgomery
Always friendly, they have great hours and you can almost always been seen, drs are thorough and kind. The only thing is the wait is generally 2 hours, but I believe this to be the fault of other clinic's being so inefficient they are just overwhelmed, My go to clinic, my only wish is for more walk in drs, otherwise 10/10.
The front staff are very friendly and accommodating, and Dr Segers was very kind, and knowledgeable. Definitely the beat walk in clinic that I’ve been to in Kelowna.
came here about a bad cough and uncomfortable breathing, he diagnosed me with a pnuemonia and prescribed me meds. the meds i took for 2 days ended up sending me to the hospital this morning. i found out i didn't have a pneumonia and the meds he prescribed me where disintegrating my intestines making me nauseous and causing vomiting. It was just a common cold, a viral infection which he prescribed me meds that made everything worse and I have now missed a week of work instead of a couple days.
Great! Fastest Doctors visit ever! Got there when they opened and only waited a half hour to see the Doc. Vanheerden was professional (even had his pup there! Awesome!). Front desk staff was very nice as usual. Best Walk In clinic in Kelowna ????
About a year ago, I had a severe asthma attack and I came in to get some help rather than going to the hospital. (They've also sent me out without anything for my lung disease.) They just let me sit there for 2 HOURS without a single big normal human sized breath get into my lungs. Guys, don't go there unless you wish to die.
No matter what time you go to the clinc as they always booked for the day and employees aren't really helpful when you needed to get information about availability. Either they need to get more Doctors or to increase the number of patients that they booking in for a day. Before do anything they need to change the opening hours on Google because it misleads patients. Unfortunatly, I don't have 0 star to rate them.
One busy place
I don't usually go out of my way to write reviews, but after my experience I felt like I needed to! I was in and out of the clinic in 30 minutes, and most of all the front desk staff were helpful and kind (which I find is a rarity at most walk in clinics). I felt so well taken care of. I'll be going back here from now on for sure.
This is not a bad clininc for walk in, if you dont get Dr. Van Heerden. I understand that walkins are a busy buisness plauged with red tape and restrictions. Dr. Van Heerden is hands down the worst doctor i have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He is rushed, provides no solutions to problems that dont involve him righting perscrions. He cares not about care for people and more about getting you out as fast as possible. If you find you are on the wiating list and you are set to see him. I advise just going somewhere else Or getting another opinion. Im sure he is just over worked and dosent love his job anymore but i have seen him many a time for physical and mental helth issues and always gotten sub par advice. The reception staff i find are wonderful.
Very friendly staff, but long wait period (2 hours on a Thursday morning 10am). The good thing is that you could leave and come back so I just ran some errands.
They are very loud about other people's medical was not impressed when every one around me looking at the lady at the front desk talking about me. Should be no ones business
I had a great experience at this clinic. My regular doctor was not available so I came to this clinic. The receptionist (Ruby) was beyond kind and friendly. I saw Dr. Stone and he was very helpful and made me feel comfortable. He ordered me an ultrasound and the day after the ultrasound he called to discuss my results right away. I would definitely go to this clinic again.
Too bad I could not rate 0. This clinic is a joke. Last year, my daughter visited there with a fracture which needed x-ray to confirm. The doctor didn't call back about the x-ray results and her subsequent visits remained unanswered, as she was required to wait hours every time to be "seen" by the doctor, and be charged again and be told she would be contacted. So she was eventually not informed that she had a fracture. After about a month, with propagating pain, and a visit to the hospital, she discovered she had a fracture which was detectable by a simple x-ray.
Very frustrating as any time I call, there is a busy signal! How do I ever reach my doctor? NO answering machine, no voice mail. The receptionist for my doctor is also very hard to reach when I finally do get through, she is either not there or busy. Haven't seen my doctor for too long as this is a recurring theme at this clinic. Very frustrated with this system. It doesn't work!
Dr. Adam has been our Doctor for many years now and our family have nothing but respect for both him and his staff.. He is easy to talk to and does what he can given the limitations of the system to address whatever difficulty you may be facing.. He does not hesitate referring you to a specialist when needed.. Full marks for every effort and care given..
Front desk agent was very unpleasant in the telephone. Just asked a simple question and she was completely rude and her tone of voice is angry. I am no longer going here ever again. Don't waste your time because the wait is always 3 hours here.
Great doctors
Ruby got my 4 year old son in very quickly to see a doctor when he put something inside his ear. Very friendly, compassionate and professional clinic! Would recommend to anyone.
Don't think i will ever go back there. The doctor didn't care what i had to say on what pain i was in. Told me i had gas build up, wrote me a prescription. Then 10 hours later i was getting surgery to have my appendix removed before it burst.
Daughter had bad ear ache near closing time. We called and very friendly receptionist was able to seek us in to see the dr. quick for a prescription. Thank you very much.
Terrible wait times and still waiting on results that I was told I would be called the next day with. A joke that I won't be repeating. Disappointed at how my medical is put to use
I had never been to this clinic before and I used the walk in service. The receptionist was so helpful- no paper work, limited questions - making for an easy experience. A short wait time and an excellent doctor.
I would give zero stars I I could!!!! The BC health care is really bad!!!! People are sick and can't even see a doctor
Awful experience with reception, very unfriendly and unhelpful.
15 calls to the reception over the course of 2 hours and not one answer. I don't care if there is a pandemic the receptionist needs to be replaced. Awful.
Receptionist is extremely rude and inconsiderate would never recommend completely uncaring for people’s needs this place doesn’t even deserve a 1 start
very nice staff and professional Dr. visits.
If the only way I can "see" a doctor is through a scheduled phone call you're not really a walk in. Thanks for wasting my time.
Rude staff long wait I don't recommend this place ????????
Make sure there's a female nurse present if Dr van heerden is doing any pap smear tests on you or your loved ones.
Excellent Doctors and very caring staff! Sometimes can be very busy with walk in clients same everywhere but they stay professional, are all well qualified.
Phenomenal experience. Extremely nice staff as soon as you walk in and they bend over backwards to help! I was blown away and the Dr was spectacular too.
Longer wait times than Orchard Medical but staff is way more attentive and treat you with a lot of dignity. Worth the wait.
We had just relocated a month before and I was suddenly in need of a doctor. I went to Spall Medical and Walk-in Clinic and they were great. I was told there was approximately an hour wait. They were exactly right. The doctor I saw was personable and professional and quick to diagnose the problem. I left feeling well taken care of. Everyone, patients and staff were pleasant and it appeared to be a busy time of day. They do a fantastic job. We are fortunate to have this service and I for one appreciated them.
Dr. Van Heerden was the worst doctor I'd ever been to. I felt like he wasn't listening to me at all, very minimally did he look me in the eyes, and I felt a strong sense that he didn't care and just wanted to get through patients as quickly as he could. After giving me my prescription, I had a couple questions on how to take the medication and he was extremely vague and not helpful at all in his reply. There are other doctors there so hopefully they're better, but this particular doctor was completely insensitive and inattentive.
