I've been a patient of Dr. Hughes for close to a decade now and he is thorough and thinks out of the box when needed. I feel like I'm taken care of and nothing is missed. Dr. Hughes is a great doctor.

If You had the volume of patients this gentleman has You might understand the importance of test results and how he puts forward the effort to save the patient he is not there to entertain your stories and other BS most bring to the table. He was instrumental in saving my partners life putting her on the right drugs and instructing her to the letter what she must do to help improve the quality of her life. She did exactly as instructed (which most don't seem to listen too) and got better, lost 90 lbs over 8 years and is here because of the care Bill and his amazing staff did. Were there some mistakes? Yes but this is because We are human. All the others with exception of Dr Sparks of St. Mikes (who is another amazing surgeon) only followed protocol which only kept her barely alive, Bill and group picked up the ball and slammed dunked this lady back into health. She did everything they listed and suggested and lost vision in her left eye, equilibrium balance lost, hallucinations and huge time delay response problems from a slight heart attack followed by a serious stroke and another stroke two months later (this is about where Kawartha cardiology took over) . She has regained full vision 20/20 both eyes(brain found a new path to see) blood pressure almost constantly below the 140 high point, I put her on Nopalea (now Dr.Bill knows who We are Lol) and here we are over 8 years later and she is still here, does she still have problems? Yes! But Bill and staff are still looking for that needle in a hay stack. Before pointing fingers at this excellent place please make sure to check yourself first. Half of getting better is attitude and doing the right things for Yourself, not asking if You can still drink a 24 or a few bottles a week, if this is YOUR choice then don't point that finger at the wrong party. Getting better is up to you and if You need a friend to listen may I suggest a pet of some kind, Bill is much to busy to play your pet. ;)

Just going to let myself die from whatever heart defect I have that’s causing me to pass out rather than deal with their horribly rude reception, customer service is the worst I’ve ever seen in a medical practise. Sad and they make you feel like you’re trash

Despite some of the previous comments, my experience with KCC was amazing! Not only was I greeted by a curtious and thorough reception, I was also seen by a cheerful, compassionate nurse immediately. She was immensely knowledgeable, covered all the bases, and immediately spoke with the Cardiologist about my symptoms and conditions and within in 1/2 an hour I was fast tracked through emergency at hospital to the cardiology department where they placed 4 stents in my arteries to open up a 95% blockage! THANK YOU KCC! Thank you Dr. Wagner! And I apologize for forgetting your name, but THANK YOU blonde nurse! You were amazing and did an amazing job! I feel like a million dollars again today!

Do yourself a favor and get a second opinion. Admittedly, my experience was with a doctor who scores low on ratings. But I found he kept sending me for more and more useless tests until he found a "condition" he could prescribe expensive drugs for. Thankfully, I didn't follow his prescription, and instead got a clean bill of health from a doctor I trust. Favourite quote from him when I said I feel healthy: "Even healthy people die!". If it looks like a duck...

As the only facility of its kind between Oshawa and Kingston, and north to Newmarket, Barrie, or Sudbury, we are fortunate to have this facility, with its range of diagnostics, here in Peterborough. They run an extremely efficient operation that some may refer to as "assembly line" - but this is the only way the single clinic can process through SO many patients from a region with a population of 300,000. My only critique might be that I suspect their "policy" is that patients are to see their family doctor to "get answers" & most test results, as the cardiologist will have sent a consultation letter. A common complaint I hear is that "they haven't told me anything." It may be prudent of the clinic to advise all patients that test results/consult letters will be sent to your family doctor and you need to see him/her with any questions about results, your medical condition, etc. If your family doctor is unable to answer those questions, from the information provided to him/her by the clinic, then your doctor can contact the cardiologist to get clarification for you. I have had about six appointments at Kawartha Cardiology Clinic and I've never had any complaints or concerns. Well, other than that the room where the dobutamine stress echo is performed is very small/cramped and hot, and when the effects of the dobutamine kick in you're going to want some more space and a fan if you are at all prone to claustrophobia.

Went to the Cardiology department to see if I had any heart problems that could result if my heart was disease or if I was having a heart attack I have to go back there on January 14th to get a heart monitoring system. The doctor's and nurses were very helpful and very supportive they very helpful all the way through the time I was there.

Over two months to get results of testing - really sloppy!

I can't judge the competence of the medical care provided by Kawartha. But I can, and do, judge the effort they put into insulating themselves from their patients. It is impossible to call them, impossible to engage them for almost any purpose. If they spent half the effort they do trying to shunt patients off, instead trying to serve them, everybody would be happier and the patients would be better served. It is patently ridiculous, that I should have to spend 3-4 weeks of time trying to reschedule and appointment only to have someone leave a message 2 weeks after my first 4 calls, saying if I want to change an appointment, I should call them back (which is nigh impossible). Moreover, I find it offensive that such a vulnerable population (people with cardiac problem) should have to struggle with such administrative high-handedness. They're competent physicians, I'm sure, and they are locked down tight.

Had a referral for Kawartha Cardiology. I work nights. I missed their calls. Tried calling back. Voice-mail I left messages. Kawartha e-mailed my NP, saying "I was not answering or Returning calls!". WELL, Kawartha why not have someone answer your phone's on a permanent basis! I've dealt with Kawartha Cardiology in the past. Some of their staff are extremely rude and unprofessional. I called Cardiology services group in Belleville. They actually answered their phone and so polite.

Absolutely the best care I have ever received from a medical facility. The care and attentiveness of all staff is evident the moment you attend your first consult and I am continually amazed how hard Dr Bill Hughes works at seeing patients. Evenings, weekends...Dr Hughes is accessible and committed to the community.

I'm very impressed with the Kawartha Cardiology Clinic. The staff is friendly and helpful. My tests were done right on time. A request for test rescheduling was handled promptly. I was most impressed by the cardiologists who used their time and training so efficiently. I was looked after promptly, diagnosed quickly and treatment arranged quickly. Well done!

I have been dealing with Kawartha cardiology Clinic for quite a few years. I have had to reschedule appointments, which if you follow instructions is very easy to do. When I had to call with questions I actually got to speak with Dr. Hughes nurse and another lady also called me back from a message I had left the day before. I would recommend this clinic to anyone.

DV DV

Excellent service. Diagnostic procedures are done professionally and promptly.

Sandra Cook

Both my husband and I are patients at KCC, my husband for several years and I'm a new patient, 4 months now. Can't say enough good things about the doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses and technicians. Very professional, caring group of health care professionals. Very efficient and prompt treatment, especially in these days of Covid. Thank you so much for your care.
