My dog loves this place somehow, they obviously take good care of my animals
Took good care of my dog
Fantastic staff that helped us every step of the way with our fur child. The best that there is.
Really lovely and caring staff. I feel super secure in taking my cat here!
Took my my friend to I nice place& people.
Taking our pets there for over 20years ❤
AMAZING.
I took my dog in to have her checked out when she became sick. The care exhibited to her was excellent, even though she was dying from kidney failure. The staff was extremely friendly, supportive and in general, very caring. Thank you
I have nothing but good things to say about this clinic. The staff and veterinarians truly care about their patients. I appreciated their honesty and compassion they showed for my dog over the last couple of years and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
I had so many scheduled visits as well as emergency (my puppies like to get in to things) visits to this clinic. They are always very helpful, caring and knowledgeable! My dog had an accident at the dog park and I called the clinic at 5.10 pm and Dr Maricle took him in for an emergency surgery that lasted pass their opening hours instead of sending us to a clinic that would of been on call that day. And when my other puppy was sick all nigh and her condition was only getting worse, I just dropped her off there (again they were not the emergency clinic that day). They monitored her all day and gave her fluids and called me at work with updates. I feel that my puppies are in good hands with them!
The only vet I would trust with my fuzzy loved ones. Been going to him for 20+ years.
The staff were very helpful with all my concerns. We had a pleasant visit to Valley View Veterinary Clinic, I would recommend to friends.
They got us in on short notice! The vet was awesome, but the receptionist wasn't very friendly almost a bit rude. If it wasn't for her it would be a full 5 stars
We love this vet clinic. They've taken great care of our pug. Their fees/prices are good too in my opinion.
Best vetinary clinic in Kamloops
Thankful for the entire staff
Ended up in Valleyview on Saturday night at 10:30pm, my pup had jumped off the balcony at our hotel, my boyfriend and I were slightly frantic. We were visiting from Edmonton and wanted to get on the road to get our pup home. They did quick work on xrays and crossing off the list of possibilities. Dr Maricle and Kym were absolutely amazing, kept us calm and walked us through everything to do post care. Mr Felix gives them 5 stars too. Professional and caring clinic.
Do Not Bring Your Pet Here! Dr.Bruce saw our pug late at night, didn’t know anything that was wrong with her. Sent us home with a $400 bill, no care plan, no medication and to kick it all off... when we asked for a cone to protect her eye wanted to charge us another 27 bucks. When we complained that we didn’t get any answers and were basically charge for nothing and that we weren’t going to pay for the cone. He asked for the cone back. Extremely lazy, uncaring vet. Do not go here. He’s useless.
This place is awesome
We have used 3 other vets before using Valleyview Vet, and we will not be switching! They can always fit us in quite quickly, and explain things really well. The only thing that some MAY not like is seeing a different vet everytime you go, but if you are fine with this it’s great. They are all very professional and helpful.
Professional approach to animal care
Amazing staff, very straightforward and very well priced. They will forever be our go to!!
A post on a web forum brought some very bad memories up of an experience we had at this clinic. This is the worst clinic I have ever dealt with in 30 years of owning pets and using vets for both dogs and cats. Our experience was horrible, they were the emergency clinic for the weekend as our clinic, Kamloops Veterinary Clinic, was closed. They took in our young and otherwise healthy cat to remove a ribbon he had swallowed. The original quote was about $500-800 dollars and we were ok with that, we loved this cat a lot. He was a very unique and special cat compared to all the other ones I've ever had. Soon the quote went up, we agreed, we are now at around $1200-$1400 but in so deep it was all or nothing so we pressed on. The surgery apparently well well ( or so we were told ) but during the following day of recovery, he didn't improve as normal so they had to keep him longer ( hence the increase in the quote ). Two days later, not eating, clearly not happy they said to take him home and see what happens. I watched him push his head into a corner and not do anything, not eat, drink, nothing, it was heartbreaking. Back in to the vet we went. Sadly because he was so weak from them not treating him properly and letting him go in such poor condition, he said surgery may not work be successful. We decided not to put him through another surgery, he was too weak and in a lot of pain and so we had to put him down. Losing a pet is tough, but they just saw it as an opportunity to extract as much money as possible and that combined with their poor workmanship was what was so tough to swallow. I firmly believe had we gone anywhere else, and I mean ANYWHERE else, this cat would have easily lived. In the months that followed, I asked the other two clinics based on the facts what they would have done. In both cases, they felt that the cat should easily have been able to survive the surgery and IF something went wrong and they had to go back in to fix it, they would not have charged anything further as the original amount certainly gave them enough profit to go in and fix their mistake without charging. I would highly recommend that anyone who needs vet service RUN to another clinic and as sad as this is, even if it's an emergency, I would drive to a further away clinic that to go to this place. The consensus among other pet owners ( and indeed other reviewers ) is that this clinic is a very very poor clinic to go to. RUN, don't look back.
I had a great experience here. The receptionist was very kind to me and even warned me that a dog would be coming out so to not startle my cat. I came to see the cat opthalmologist for my girl and I was finally able to diagnose what was wrong with her eye. Definitely an expensive consultation but well worth it. She was very nice too and knowledgeable. The clinic itself is pretty outdated and old but that's okay. The picture on the wall looks like my cat????????
Bad experience! I do not recommend this clinic. They were rude and didn't update in regards to status of the pet or billing prosse!
I wish our visit to this clinic hadn't been an emergency so I could've had time to read all of these AWFUL reviews! We brought our senior dog in after he had a seizure with the firm decision to let him go after a long and difficult deliberation about his quality of life and his and our safety. This was an incredibly difficult decision to make for us and we were distraught. Dr. Maricle spent 30 mins trying to talk us out of it, pushing a huge array of tests to "try", of which we painfully declined repeatedly. As many other reviews have mentioned he also threatened to report us for animal cruelty because our OLD dog had a few bad teeth. When he finally agreed to the euthanasia they took him to the back for 25 mins and blew both his veins, he came back all bandaged and struggled two more times to give him the meds. Every time the vet left the room he was gone at least 10-20 mins. This heartbreaking appointment was dragged out over 1 1/2 hours. Our bill was over $700. After to talking to other that have brought their pets here I've learned most have had similar experiences.
My dog Ruby was in and out of there so quick. The front desk was really nice and understanding. The vet was very considerate and explained the procedures and shots with helpful stories all and all Ruby had a good visit.
Our Great Dane needed emergency surgery and the staff and vets at valleyview couldn't have been more helpful or amazing to deal with. From the phone call to the front desk to recovery they were amazing. Thanks again to the team there for helping our boy Parker.
Very friendly - Auggie's second visit
I brought my sick cat here 2 times for the same problem, once on Friday morning and again 3 days later on Monday morning. He was not being himself and I could tell that something was very wrong. I seen a different vet both times. I told both vets that it was a possibility that he had eaten an earplug. First vet decided to check for crystals in his urine. He said he could run other tests if I wanted but didn't sound like he thought any would be worthwhile and he thought he was fine to send home. The vet I seen on Monday suspected a bowel obstruction after doing some xrays and suggested an overnight stay with IV and force feeding as a first course of action to see if he could pass it on his own. I was not made aware of any risks of this choice of action, and I'm kicking myself for not asking questions and just taking the advice of the vet. That evening before they closed I called to check in and my cat was apparently doing well. The next morning I got a call that my cat did not make it through the night. I wrongly assumed my cat was in good hands being at the vet's office overnight, but in actuality he was left alone overnight to die. Further investigation after his death revealed that it was in fact an earplug he had eaten, just as I had said to not one but two different vets. Finally, a seemingly sympathetic receptionist tells me the cremation options ($150+ for a private cremation) on top of the $600 bill I have to pay. Fortunately I was aware that the City of Kamloops Bylaw office will do a private pet cremation for $42. Heartbroken that my healthy 4 year old cat's life was cut short by a series of wrong decisions, both on my part and the vets at this clinic.
Highly recommended clinic with years of experience and expertise. Pup didn't even know he was at a vet or getting shots, well cared for and was shown a lot of patience.
They took such great care of my senior dog and (again I'm so sorry) even though she had multiple "accidents" on their floor they were so polite and caring, I am very pleased with our girls diagnostic and will definitely be back for her next checkup :)
Friendly, thorough and respectful
my corso boy needed to go over the border and had to get his rabies shot, but he's very fearful of people. they helped me figure out how to get the shot done without having to sedate him. other vets I went to always gave their unsolicited opinion about his cropped ears/tail (which I didn't do or request), or the fact he was fed raw, and/or were afraid of him as well. Dr. Maracle and his staff were not this way and were super helpful and caring and problem solved a way to get the shot in without it being a super dramatic and stressful event!
Excellent veterinary care
Great staff
Highly recommend for caring and thorough understanding of my and my pet's needs
Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had at a veterinary clinic: -doctor has a terrible bedside manner and ridiculously overcharged us for the check-up and follow-ups -vet tech was pushy with trying to sell us something we weren't comfortable with and didn't listen to our concerns at all -support staff was very rude and uncaring -most expensive clinic we've ever experienced anywhere in the province At our scheduled follow-up appointment (date/time printed right on our bill) the doctor had the nerve to say that he wasn't prepared for the second procedure because he didn't know we were coming. He acted like it was our fault, when all we did was attend the appointment that THEY scheduled. I cannot understand how they could be so unprofessional and not apologize at all. Definitely will be going somewhere else for a second opinion. Extremely disappointed in the huge amount of money we wasted at this clinic.
A fantastic group at the Valleyview Veterinary Clinic. Our 6 month Vizsla pup came down with a serious case of Kennel Cough over the Christmas holidays. If it wasn't for the quick and effective work of Dr Walsh and Fraser and the staff there the outcome I'm sure would have been a good one. Professional, friendly, competent and accommodating - we greatly appreciate the clinic and highly recommend.
My ex and I had an after-hours emergency with our cat, and the staff and Dr. Maricle were absolutely amazing and reassuring. Our cat enjoyed the attention from the wonderful ladies so much, he almost didn't want to come home again. I absolutely recommend them to anybody that is asking about vet services in town.
Although this review isn’t related to the vet service I think it speaks to the character of the owner and staff. This morning my truck was stolen from my driveway in Westsyde, approximately an hour later before I had heard from the RCMP someone from the vet called me to let me know one of my company vehicles was parked suspiciously in their parking lot. This allowed the vehicle to be recovered before the thieves returned and they even offered to come and pick me up to bring me to it! Thank you so much you guys are great samaritans and great citizens, I won’t forget the kindness you guys showed us from one business to another. Thanks again.
They did a wonderful job looking after our senior Saluki who came in as an emergency.
I was with them for around three years and they always treated me and my dog well. They were very caring and compassionate when I recently had to put her down. I would recommend them.
Great vets. Great staff. So glad to have them here in town!
Very thoughtful and respectful. We had to put our cat down and they made the process as easy as possible.
Had multiple friends have horrable experiences here and would never take my pet here. they dont care about the animal welfare and cant take the time to explain anything and are horrable at time management get you to come in three times for something they could have done in one visit
Lady wouldn't give me tp for bathroom, said there was enough. Had to rip it out of her hands cause she wanted to put in. I had to go 10 min ago. Heard other things about her keeping animals when some didn't have enough to get all work done on animal.
Dr really is Magic!
Once my guy was sedated they worked quickly and kept me informed of the whats and why's of everything they did for him Very friendly and dedicated team
Great team, very friendly. Would highly recommend.
We've been bringing our pets (2 dogs and 2 cats) here since moving to Kamloops a year ago. Staff are friendly, caring, considerate, helpful and always follow up to see how our pets are doing. Doctors and technicians are great and up to date in their field.
Very Happy!
Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Love it!
I have had care from three vets at Valley View. One dog had been misdiagnosed elsewhere and had to be put to sleep. Andrew was so kind about the whole experience. At the same time our youngest dog had an argument with a Western toad and was completely paralyzed from tip pf nose to shoulders. Andrew saved her life. Our latest adoptee had to have dental surgery within a week of adopting her.Andrew provided excellent care. This dog had also acquired a tape worm at her last home and Fiona looked after her this time. All in all First Class service and compassion every time we need the service of any of the vets and their staff.
Amazing staff ...great service..services well explained..!!!
Great staff - just wanted to get my parents dog weighed. People there are very nice.
The staff from the front desk, to the vet techs and Dr. Maricle are amazing. Very caring, professional, honest and thorough. Never pushy but always recommending the best approach for our dogs. And when we lost one of our pups they were very supportive providing us reading material and sending a post card. Couldn't ask for a better team!
The person I spoke to on the phone was very dismissive and about as unhelpful as they get. As I was trying to ask a final question, they hung up on me mid-sentence. I'll be picking a different vet clinic from now on. Very unprofessional and rude.
Horrible Customer service. They don't care if you are sick or if your animal is sick. They just want money. Greedy worthless people. They are Vet clinic that does not care about you or your animal go any where else.
In December 2021, we were waiting for our dog appointment. A lady pulled in to the handicapped parking without a sticker. I told her that it was a handicap spot and she said "I'll only be 2 minutes". I said "In that 2 minutes, there could be a handicapped person that shows up for that spot". During our appointment with the dog, I mentioned to the Vet that I told someone to move out of the handicapped parking spot. Her response to me was "that could have been a long time patron that you've kicked out of that spot". I also mentioned the parking lot could be resealed and new lines painted. She barred me from the Vet clinic for life, and told me that if I came on the property, she would call the cops. Rocky Kitzel.
Good
We were in the bush and our boston had a seizure, they got me in and set my mind at ease and took great care in checking Eddie out. So happy with the care shown to us. Thank you again !!
told our dog was going blind or was blind but went to kelowna no such thing just poor infection
I just wanted to share my amazing experience with Valleyview Vet. We have a big dog who can be a challenging patient and Dr. Fraser was amazing with him. She just seemed so caring in trying to help figure out what was wrong with our dogs ears. We have bounced from vet to vet and she was the best one we have come across. She didn’t make us feel rushed, allowed us to sit in with our dog till the sedation started to work, and explained everything to us very thoroughly. We felt as though she truly cared about our dogs health. ❤️ We will 100% be back and will be our vet from now on. Thanks again Dr. Fraser. Ryan & melissa
Looks like a "sour grapes" client (Tylar Craig) had a bunch of friends (who are not clients of this clinic) post 1-star reviews out of spite. A fantastic clinic that truly cares.
The reception is very nice. The ladies were very friendly. The Doctor that worked on my dog was very knowledgeable about the problem my dog has. All in all, I will bring my pets here again.
New owners. Very impressed with their service and follow up.
We were visiting family just outside of Kamloops from out of town. My 2 dogs got into a scrap over food Monday morning (Thanksgiving Monday) and my little Boston X ended up with 2 big (in my opinion) lacerations on the top of her head. We debated waiting until we got home later in the day to go to our own vet but decided to call a vet in Kamloops to be safe. Dr Maricle called us back as we were driving into town and we explained the situation. He was very forthcoming about the situation and the fees involved for coming in on a holiday. He also tried to ease our concern saying that a lot of times it is best to just let the wound heal naturally as the healing process is better. (Pretty much saying - you may just want to wait until you are home and it's not a stat holiday.) We were on the fence but decided to go anyways - knowing what the base cost would be regardless of outcome. Once there, he examined her and again gave the pros and cons of stitches vs natural healing but left the treatment choice up to us. Sadly upon further examination of her he discovered that she was not in good health like we thought she was for her age (14yrs). He found a rotten abscessed tooth, swollen lymph nodes and that she was in the far stages of heart failure. We felt like horrible owners not even noticing these things and just attributed her changes to old age. He spent so much time with us talking about options and the reality of where she was at in her life. He didn't sugar coat anything but was very honest and kind about her outcome suggested that aggressive treatment was probably not the best way to go - even though he would benefit financially from it. Her gave her some meds to make her comfortable and left us to decide her next steps once we were back home with our own vet. In the end we didn't even get stitches - the whole reason we went there but we did find out a lot about our little dog and that she was probably in a lot of pain. I am glad we went - otherwise our little girl would probably continue to suffer silently as dogs do. Horrible outcome and we now have to say good-bye to her... The vet technician was also very friendly and compassionate to us and my dog.
Great service, wonderful caring staff.
When for an emergency and they treat my dog like a king. We really aprecciate the time they took for check his problem to finally get well and healthy. Kudos to their staff too!
As I am just visiting BC they took me in and we're all so amazing. Dr Walsh is so great and kind. Staff are all so professional.
Alway provide great service and take good care of our fur baby.
Excellent. Highly recommended.
Our dog was attacked by another animal (our cat), and sustained several large quarter-sized tears from the cat's fangs (not cuts, you could clearly see his back/shoulder/neck muscles, it was actually quite unsettling) and he was bleeding. It was a Saturday, and 4:30, so most of the other clinics were closed or were about to close. Having recently moved here from Van, we did not have a local vet yet. While my wife controlled the bleeding, I quickly read some of the reviews, and some of what I read did concern me, however my dog needed immediate treatment, and we had no choice as this clinic was the designated afterhours clinic at the time. The vet (and clinic owner) had his hands full with other animals, and after a short wait he took our dog in for a pre-surgical exam and then surgery. Many stiches and draintubes later, our dog went home with us. Despite some of the unfortunate reviews, we found the vet, and front desk staff to be empathetic and professional. The doctor was personable and his energy was such that our otherwise extremely nervous, anxiety-ridden dog was calm through the pre-surgical exam onwards (which was a complete surprise to my wife and I, as our dog absolutely hates strangers). My wife sat-in during the surgery to provide morale-support for Vito (our dog), and was impressed by what she saw. As far as the bill, the est. was $700.00, the dog required sedation, multiple people worked on him, and the final bill came out to less than $550.00, including 2 different prescriptions. Vito had 2 follow-up visits, 1 week later to remove several drain tubes, and a week after that to remove the stiches. Both visits were professionally handled, and no additional charges. We followed the at-home care instructions to a tee, and our little guy healed up quickly, and perfectly. We would take both our little guy's back to this clinic. If I had one criticism, it would be that despite a clearly posted sign at the entrance that states all dogs must be leashed when inside the hospital, a fellow dog owner allowed his dog off leash and the large dog immediately b-lined towards my 10 pound dog who was leashed and on my lap. My anxiety-ridden dog immediately freaked-out as I was pushing the other dog away. The owner was very apologetic, and the large dog was clearly super-friendly and only wanted to say hi. The girl at the front desk should have told that owner to leash his dog, but she obviously knew that dog well and knew it was super-friendly. Should have enforced the policy regardless. I will add that the girl at the front desk was very friendly, so I don't want to imply that she was careless or anything. As no harm was done, my rating is still 5/5. Needless to say, we no longer allow the cat and dog to be together unsupervised. It was probably the dog's fault anyways, as he used to try and hump the cat all the time, it is likely that the cat simply had enough of dog's shenanigans.
AMAZING STAFF AND EXPERIENCE. We will be switching to valleyview vet. Very caring and knowledgeable staff.
Some of the most caring people I have ever met. All of our dogs have been well cared for here from beginning to end. Thanks to all of the staff for your caring heart's. Doug & Brenda C.
Very compassionate and efficient.
The Vets here are absolutely professional. They try to be very understanding, but also straightforward. It hurts to here sad news, but its better right up front then find out later. Thank you Dr's.
Great service, very friendly and professional!
Was not impressed that staff wore heavy perfume and cuddled with my fur baby . I guess scent free is not an issue there.
I took my dog here for an emergency visit after he was attacked by my cat. It was an after-hours visit on a Saturday. They got me in fairly quickly despite being very busy, and took great care of my little dog. They let me stand by as they operated on him, putting him under anesthetic and cleaning and stitching up his neck wounds. He had to have drains put in his neck and they gave me clear instructions on how to tend to them post-surgery. Follow up was great. The techs and vet (Cr. Maricle) were all very professional, caring and friendly, and very reasonable cost, considering it was an after hours visit. I would definitely trust them with my pet.
They r so understanding and patient when it comes 2 a situation with 1's fur baby
First of all the vet charged me for saying, "I don't know what's wrong with your cat." Not even a suggestion on what to do with my cat throwing up. Took him to the Cat hospital, Dr. Sandy changed his food, all is back to normal. Thankyou Cat hospital, great caring people who actually know cats. Took my dog to Valley view clinic for a check up. Vet said he COULD turn me in for animal abuse if I didn't get my ADOPTED dogs teeth cleaned. He said he was sure 1 or 2 of them would have to be pulled. I felt so intimidated that I had it done. No teeth were so rotten that they had to be pulled. I just got an email from them saying they want to recheck my dog's teeth. I don't think so. I take my dog to Kamloops vet clinic now. Kathy (the vet) is awesome and very caring.
We just moved to town and they were excellent with are chocolate lab Bronx. I would definitely recommend them.
They managed to fit our dog into their busy schedule. Our dog stayed overnight and was treated for pancreatitis. Our dog is now on a new diet and taking medication and doing fine , we are very happy . The staff are professional and wonderful in every way .
They treat your animals like their own and don't mind when you be a helicopter fur parent when your babies are in getting surgery! I moved up from the coast and was scared to find a new vet for my two girls. They have made me feel comfortable and safe!
I am so angry with the two dark haired girls. The young one, and the new one. They are rude and they don't care about my cat. I don't trust them not to hurt or mistreat my cat. Be aware everyone. I took my cat there, to Stephanie, the new vet, she did the follow up. We talked about medicine for my cat. She no longer works there, I just found out. The two girls wouldn't let me get the medicine for my cat. I talked to Bruce, whom originally saw my cat. They don't care about my cats, I could hear the older girl, tell the young girl not to give me the medicine. I was so embarrassed. It is not my fault that the vet doesn't not work there anymore. I understand why if she had to put up with those two girls. The young girl had no clue what she was doing. I emailed them with no response back. They didn't make it right. I wouldn't trust them with any animals. They owe me an apology, but of course they won't. I am glad Diane is back, she cares. We are now going up there. She is an amazing vet, and I am so happy!!!!!!!
Compassionate care, quick to assess for injury and thorough in explaining treatment options.
At about 5pm on a saturday, my cat had been chased by a dog and was so scared she ran into a fence. He jaw was broken and she was clearly in a lot of pain, as her second eyelids were prolapsed and HER TOOTH WAS STICKING OUT THROUGH HER UPPER LIP?? It was an emergency, so we took her to Valleyview Veterinary Clinic. Let me remind you: it was 5pm. On a Saturday. They took her in, but demanded we pay the 2000 dollar fee on the spot. They would not even look at her without their money. They didn't care my cat was suffering. They just wanted their money. This premises is into the veterinary business for the wrong reasons. Low and behold we don't go there anymore.
