We offer you all the reviews of people who are purchasing the products of The Cat Hospital of Kamloops (Doctor) in Kamloops (Canada).
At the present this firm has a score of 4.2 over 5 and that score has been calculated on 127 reviews.

You know that we don't usually bother to place evaluations when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Doctor is included in the category of Veterinarian.
Only vets I trust with my kitty babies. They're always treated with great care♡
I was extremely disappointed with the Cat Hospital of Kamloops. Dr Sandy Jamieson spoke to me as if I were a child and told me the food I was feeding my cat (Acana) was junk and that I needed to switch to their food. He also told me the animal nutritional training via a university course I have is useless and not to even look at the ingredients on a bag of cat food. I felt extremely bullied through the whole visit. I know of several other people who have had similar experiences through this clinic. I would never recommend this clinic to anybody.
Have been taking my fur babies here for over 2 years now. The staff is absolutely wonderful and so is Dr. Sandy, he has always been very helpful and every piece of advice he has given has been amazing not to mention the fact that he’s been quite flexible with princing as I am a student. Every time I come in the staff and Dr. Sandy know me and my pets by name. I would and have recommended the cat hospital to anyone and everyone
Staff and doctors are very caring.
Brought my 7 yr old cat in for stomach surgery. Cost 1500$.2 days later he died.picked up his ashes a week later, vet came out looked around the front area and didnt say a word to me. If u love your cat like i did, be diligent.
Dr Sandy and his amazing team did such a fantastic job taking care of our kitten! The front desk welcomed us what such warmth, then we went into a cozy private room to go over information with Dr Sandy! We left knowing our fur- baby was in good hands!
Absolutely phenomenal experience at this clinic. I have never seen a veterinarian with more passion and knowledge about felines, and such wonderful staff to boot! Dr. Sandy Jamieson resolved my kittens food allergy and put all my nerves to rest, he gave me wonderful advice on how to enrich my cats environment and she has never been happier! Very reasonably priced, would absolutely recommend entrusting your cats to this clinic, I'm never going to take Lulu anywhere else. Thank you Cat Hospital of Kamloops!!!
Absolutely shocked with the service from this establishment. Yelled at by Dr Sandy in front of my mother, accused of making a secretary "worthless" to him because "she can't do her job any more" and then charged an estimate of between $500-$700 for a wound cleaning and a bit of antibiotics. All because I was concerned about an animal that means the world to our family and needed information on how to properly care for her. I drove all the way from Vancouver to have my family cat taken care of and had to inquire multiple times about some information regarding the cat and it's condition. This after my mother, the owner of the cat, was unable to obtain the information directly from this place. They neglected to not only give her any information about the cat, but even respond to her calls. If the establishment comments back I will post photos and explain more in detail but please, please, please do not take your cats here. Unbelievable how they treat people. *EDIT* I never once raised my voice at anyone at The Cat Hospital. I never insulted anyone either. What I did say do was inquire as to the information regarding our family cats condition as it had been 2 years since she was lost. They refused to give it several times until I said it was a bit ridiculous that they wouldn't share that information with us. When we arrived it was very clear Dr. Sandy wanted to teach me a lesson by yelling in my face in front of my mother and belittling me and insinuating I had verbally assaulted his secretary which I never did. Something is very off about this establishment but don't take my word for it. Read the reviews.
Just took my cat in for a neuter and will never recommend this place. I agreed to the $95 charge, plus a minimal charge for microchip, deworming, and vaccines(I expected around $150). It ended up costing $288. Dr Sandy sat me down and said my cat was underweight, had dental decay, and a dull coat. He’s a small cat...not meant to be huge. He then proceeded to brag(?) about how he is the only cat nutritionist in BC, and the food I was feeding my cat (nutirence) was the source of all my cat’s problems including the teeth decay in a 1 yr old cat. He belittled my care of my cat in front of my children, at one point I was almost crying (takes a lot to make me cry). Of course he sent me home with this special food that is only sold there. Then, he said my cat was under stimulated because he was a 100% indoor cat (I guess he can see how active the cat is at home from his office??). He can take his wooden clogs and flourescent socks and shove them. Will be going to a different vet for follow up. The staff are really nice and it doesn’t smell like the spca...
Super excelent staff andp doctors. Least expensive cat hospital ive ever know.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They do a lot of follow up after surgery, to make sure your pet is okay. It is a very reasonably priced place and great for my anxious cat that isn't a fan of other animals, especially dogs!
Dr. Sandy is quick and thorough. The staff are very pleasant as well. The relaxed atmosphere is very nice for my cat. There are no barking dogs around and the rooms are quiet. Dr. Sandy is very knowledgeable and friendly. I will switch my other cat here as well. Would recommend it to everyone !
The vet was very pushy for all kinds medical procedures and dental work, using scare tactics to really force the issue. Got a second opinion and our cat is in outstanding health.
I was absolutely thrilled with how they treated both Willow and myself when I had Willow spayed. They even called a couple of days later to see how she was doing. The price was right and the service was amazing! Thanks to all of the staff...from both me and Willow.
Amazing staff, organized, clean and friendly. Love this place and my fur babies are healthier and happier than ever. I continue to go to the Cat Hospital as not only do they take care of my little loves but an early diagnosis from diagnostic tests that showed stage 1 kidney failure, I am able to keep my cat Zeppelin around a lot longer with preventative care.
The vet is caring and supportive. The vet is patient and gentle. The vet listens and is informative. I felt the vet genuinely cared about my cat and took the time to understand my cat’s needs and my needs as a pet owner and caregiver for my pet. The vet got to know my cats health and emotional needs and adapted to make the visit comfortable for my pet. The vet listened to my concerns and answered my questions, and provided the resources and information I needed. I felt that the vet’s priority was my cat’s care and well being and my concerns as a pet owner. I get the vet cared about my cat as an individual and not just as a cat. That means a lot to me because I feel that let’s are individuals all with their own unique emotions, personalities, and physicality. I felt the vet cared about the animal as an individual with individual health and emotional needs.
Dr. Sandy has a wealth of knowledge and was the only Animal Doctor in Town that was able to diagnose correctly what our sweet kitty has, without him we would most likely lost her years ago. Thank you!
The staff at The Cat Hospital of Kamloops are compassionate, ethical, well versed in cat medical requirements. They treat not only the cat being examined/treated with respect but respect is given to the pet parent as well. I am comfortable taking my cats in for whatever treatments are required.
I adopted a kitten from the SPCA and had taken here for a health check and her last rabies shot. They were excellent at going through all the details of a kitten and what we should expect with her growing up and how we should care for her. She was very gentle with the kitten. Highly recommend!
Very caring staff
Just an absolute wonderful experience. They took archer in as an emergency visit and provided him with exceptional care. Xoxo
I do not recommend the cat hospital. I do not like to give a review without constructive feedback. To the clinic: take your time and remember your lefts and rights, our xrays of our cat were taken on the wrong side of the area in question. Please retrain your xray technicians, their jewelry was in the scan and their shoulder completely objected the view of tissue. You should not charge clients full price for service that is incomplete or incorrect as the Xrays were taken of the wrong side and you failed to redo it on the correct side. I should not have been fully charged for this. Additionally, staff confused our cat with a different cat patient and changed the medication because of it. We initially were going with another medication and then changed to gabapentin because of another cat (which our cat absolutely would not take). When there is a medical emergency and we are there and concerned for our cats physical health, it is not the time for nutritional education. We felt like your focus was not on our cats immediate needs and that instead it was a sales pitch. We spent nearly $400 for inadequate, incomplete, and inaccurate treatment of our cat. We would gladly spend the money for appropriate treatment, but feel as though this was not a clinic that was focused on our Cats health. Now our cat is still not doing well and we have to go to another vet because our loss of confidence and trust in your services.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff and vets. My 2 cats both left feeling calm and happy. Would recommend the cat hospital to anyone seeking care for their kitties :)
I love the Cat Hospital in Kamloops.. I'm from the states and I loved my vet there.. So I was very scared of not finding my cat an equally good vet.. But I was delighted and surprised to find Dr. Sandy and his wonderful caring and knowledgeable staff.. Lady Bug was treated and cared for like she was one of his own cats.. The office is the best atmosphere I've ever seen in a vet office.. I felt welcome and at ease the moment I walked into the clinic.. Thank you Dr. Sandy and staff for caring for my fur baby Lady Bug
I was impressed with every single individual I met while Ari was in your care. You have a great team and my other kitties will be in to see Dr. Sandy and team.
Saved our kitty Freezie and for a reasonable price! (she had this surgery before and it cost us 2.5X more last time). The staff were all very friendly and helpful, I can tell Dr Sandy and Dr Drew really love their patients. Would very much recommend, I will be going to them for all my future feline needs.
Our fur baby was in much distress due to a bladder blockage. The swiftness of care, the assurance to our 8 year old daughter that he will be ok was so appreciated!!! Would recommend this business to anyone who has a cat!
I have been taking my cats to The Cat Hospital for over 2 years now. Everyone has been fantastic and friendly. Dr. Sandy is very personable and has specific knowledge & information relating to cats, that I may not have gotten if I had taken my cats elsewhere. Highly Recommend this place for your cute, furry 4 legged companion <3
It was a great atmosphere. Not cold like feeling like a lot of vet offices. The staff was amazing. Dr Erin was great and gentle with out cat.
I want to disclose that this is not a review of the clinic as a whole but on Dr. Sandy. This was our first and last visit. I came in to see Dr. Sandy in regard to a few general physical health concerns for my diabetic cat. He instead began to explain to me what diabetes was. Assuming I did not know anything about the disease my cat has had over 1 year now which I have been researching, monitoring at home, adjusting dosages as needed, and providing her with the best care that I possibly can having input from hundreds of people. He proceeded to tell me that because I’m using a human monitor that is why her number are fluctuating so horribly (which they are not because he did not actually ask if they were and just assumed). It has also been proven time and again that human BG monitors have similar readings to pet specific ones and read only a little lower the higher the number, they were around first after all and have been used by many many diabetic cat owners. My usage of this monitor is not what is affecting my cat's numbers, the insulin she has not made progress on is. Again, this was not even what I came in to discuss. He then proceeded to ask what diet my cat was on before leaving the room to go look at x-rays. I explained that she was on a raw diet. I’m providing her the lowest possible carb diet I can to keep her healthy. He refused to examine my cat from there because I would not switch her onto a commercial pet food. He asked if I wanted him to clarify why he wouldn't see my cat and I did want him to however, because I said I as unlikely to switch he did not want to waste time. It would not have been a waste of my time. This has been the most unprofessional experience I have ever had with a vet. He assumed my ignorance, though I have worked with vets and take the utmost care of my diabetic feline. He made me feel like I was only doing everything wrong and I'm the reason she's not moving towards remission. He did not even address the acne and balding concerns I had, which is what I came in for. Instead I stressed her out for a half and hour car ride that was never necessary. I want a veterinarian who can have a two way conversation, where we can openly discuss matters of health. Even if we don't agree that open dialogue is what any professional should strive to achieve. It should also be very clear on your website that patients will be refused service based on diet or other possible issues. If for no other reason to keep cats from being stressed out. I do not enjoy leaving this review and I do hope for a response.
I appreciate all the great information. On a couple of occasions I've had concerns, and they were able to fit me in right away for an exam. I always feel like they want the best for my cat, which is the most important thing to me
The team was awesome. Dr. Sandy was super gentle and explained everything he was going to do and his plan for surgery.
Like quite a few other people posting reviews I am not happy with the way I was treated. I throughly like the staff at the front desk and they way they spoke to me after I explained how upset I was during the consultation. However having great staff doesn't make up for Dr. Sandy being condescending and downright rude! I am throughly unhappy and I do not recommend any one going here unless you enjoy being spoken down to.
I just loved how welcoming and understanding they all were. I won't go anywhere else when it comes to the health if my little kitty! The lady at the front desk was caring enough to even ask me if I needed a hug before I left, thank you! ❤
Love the care my 2 cats received.
My cat Pumpkin has a bad case of asthma (which the Cat Hospital diagnosed) and she had to get spayed. There of course were complications reviving her but due to the experience and knowledgeable staff they were able to save her. She is now at home healing wonderfully. I cannot express how grateful I am to ALL of the staff will ONLY take my cats there. They TRULEY Love and Care for our furry family members.....I give them more than a 5 star rating. ????
I took my 8-year old cat Chonky to Kamloops Cat Hospital and all the staff were very kind and helpful! I will definitely be returning. I would recommend anyone take their cat here.
My cat Baby has had a few visits now, and she absolutely loves Dr.Sandy!!! He so wonderful, and is so amazing at giving the best advice and information to help us at home. Also not to mention, because of the few visits we have had to make, we have discovered she loves to go on car rides!!! Absolutely recommend The Cat Hospital!
They have been awesome and treated my cat and me so kindly. Being new to town and trying to find a good vet is always a struggle but I would definitely recommend them!
My cat Rocky was really sick one evening and I was very worried about him. So I called the cat hospital and the vet was able to see me after hours. She gave him some shots and some medicine to see if it would help. And if not to bring him back in the morning. I am so grateful that I was able to at least try and get the medicine he needed. Thank you ♡
It was an excellent experience all around! I always feel my cats are sensitively and skillfully taken care of at the Cat Hospital. It is obvious that the staff all simply LOVE cats! It is a lovely combination all around. Thank you!
I would like to make it clear that this review is only about Doctor Sandy, every single one of his vet techs I have encountered are amazing. If I could just get them to take care of my animals I would! They aren’t pushy with products and are so kind and capable you feel safe leaving your pets with them. These people are the reason that I stuck around for as long as I did, but ultimately I just couldn’t take it anymore. About a week after I noticed some changes in my cat I took her to the Cat Hospital of Kamloops. It turns out that she wasn’t doing to well. Doctor Sandy was very shaming, making me feel horrible that I hadn’t brought her in sooner even though I hadn’t noticed anything wrong until recently. I was so upset at the news I was given that I bought everything suggested (food, light therapy, blood draws, x/rays, medication etc.) At a later visit, which was just supposed to be for a blood draw and checkup, I asked Sandy a simple question. If you have ever been to this establishment you may have been pushed his brand of food. He told me that the all natural, fresh, Canadian made food I feed my cats is garbage and ultimately hurting them. Here are the first few ingredients of the food he recommended to me (Royal Canine Senior)- Chicken by product meal, powdered cellulose, tapioca, wheat, wheat gluten, corn gluten meal Here are the first few ingredients of what I currently feed my cat (Now Senior)- De-boned turkey, potato flour, peas, pea fibre, whole dried egg, potatoes, tomato I told him that I wanted to stick to my normal food, he proceeded to keep pushing the food on me. When I asked him “Can you specifically tell me what makes this food better than my brand?” He lost it, and proceeded to yell at me and belittle me to the point that I was brought to tears. Telling me that I was trying to argue with him when I never once raised my voice. He evaded my question every time I asked and never could give me a straight answer, he just kept saying that he went to veterinary school and I hadn’t. He left the room and only came back to apologize after I heard one of his assistants telling him that he had to come in and say sorry. I love my animals and I try to do everything in my power for them but take my advice and don’t deal with the Cat Hospital of Kamloops. I have never been in a social situation where I was treated as poorly as I have at this establishment. There are many vets in Kamloops who are phenomenal, some even specialize in cat care like Aberdeen Vertinary Hospital.
I went to the cat hospital for a 2nd opinion after my cat having a constant cough for 2 years. I feel more confident now that we have a plan in place to accurately diagnosis her condition and provide her the treatment she needs to feel better. I wish I'd gone sooner!!
Our cats are our family, there is no where else we would take our boys than here at the Cat Hospital. They have an excellent team of professionals that will work with you to take great care of your fur baby. I recommend anyone with a cat to give them a call!
The staff there are awesome .I never waited long to get in and had taken 4 diff cats there... I found the vet doctors all understanding and listen to every concern I had...
Friendly and knowledgable staff. I would highly recommend this business, I was comfortable in their establishment and they made me feel at home. Their input on my cats situation was beyond helpful. Recommend for everyone!!!
The staff and doctor explained the whole dental procedure in a way that I could understand. When I needed clarification I was respected and appreciated. They were able to provide services that were in my budget and worked with me to get Pookie the best care possible.
Dr. Sandy and his staff are truly the finest people u want caring for your feline! You won't find better anywhere in town
Wonderful staff and veterinarians. They have gone out of their way to help us with ferals. Super helpful! Will be using this office for all future vet needs.
the staff here are very WONDERFUL and attentive and i have had no issues other than one. I usually would never write reviews but this hurt my feelings and I feel it is necessary. Please read with intentions to listen. I have an 18 year old kitty who is my baby and means the world to me. The last month we have been struggling to get her weight up and have been doing all recommended treatments. we finally went in to have another end-of-life discussion to see if this would help with our decision-making. we met with Dr. sandy and while Im in tears with my cat on my lap he decides to say: " well i can tell you right now looking at her that she looks pathetic". Well, I can tell you right now that nobody wants to hear that. We trust you and were coming in to see you in hopes of being comforted and shown empathy and to have you share your knowledge and experience with us. All the work, stress, and tears I have gone through trying not to lose my baby and trying to do what's best for her, this visit was no help and I felt like he didn't really care. You could at least pet her and show you care in some way. I read multiple other reviews on here and most are regarding Dr.Sandy and the way he approaches/speaks to his clients. Word of advise: learn from these reviews and try to treat people with respect. We know you've had your own pets that you love dearly and you should know how it feels to lose something you really love...it sucks, a lot. We know you're busy, and we know you may be jaded after doing this for so long, but we come to you for a reason. Don't forget about patient-centered care, and peoples feelings in general.
The Cat Hospital of Kamloops is the only place I will take my kitties now ❤ Such a healing and loving energy. I felt it through the phone and then even more so in person ???? ???????? ❤ I had to leave my cat there over night for 2 nights and I was able to leave her feeling way more at ease because I trusted she was being cared and loved by all the staff there. Thank you for caring about Penny and being so amazing with her humans!!❤????
A very positive ,caring, energetic staff,. Clean, bright ,and ,efficient , A great experience !
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Solved a long term skin issue for one cat in a matter of days, other vets were not successful over years of trying. I have 2 exotic breed cats and this is the most knowledgeable vet I have met about their breed. Cannot recommend them highly enough, if I was a cat I would want to be seen here.
We had found that both of our cats had serious dental issues, despite having regular cleanings. The cat hospital was our second opinion after being originally quoted nearly $5,000 for cleaning and extractions (for both cats). We went to cat hospital for a second opinion, they agreed that some teeth need to come out. As cat hospitals quote came in lower, we came here for our extractions. After the first one was done - hooray! Less teeth than expected came out. Our bill was significantly lower than expected - on review we noted that they wrote off nearly all costs relating to anesthesia (25% of the bill). We just took in the other cat to get his teeth done - good news again! Less teeth than expected, and a tiny bill - again, they wrote off anesthesia, cutting our bill nearly in half. They were also exceedingly knowledgeable, patient, and helpful when providing a summary of what was done and what needs to be done. I will be recommending everyone I know send their cats here, and I know ours will be coming here for the rest of their life. Thanks!!!!
Very caring, supportive and professional staff. We were very impressed. Facility super clean and cheerful. Thank you again to them all and Dr. "Sandy".
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Costs can add up quickly, but this is no different than any other vet. Would recommend this place to anyone who needs their cat's health examined or treated.
This place is really great. The staff are very friendly and helpful and compassionate
It is very evident that every member here loves cats and cares very much about your pet's health and well being. I was told at a different clinic that euthanasia was my only option. It's lucky I called the Cat Hospital and they gave me a second opinion. They gave my kitty a second chance. She just got out of surgery and we're crossing our fingers that she'll be ok. It's been a rollercoaster and I've had to bring her in 3 times since her surgery for emergency care. Dr Drew has been so awesome about meeting after hours to look at her. She seems to be doing great.
It was an excellent experience. Everything was explained, nothing was hidden from me and Chester wasn't hurt in any way (all things which were issues with his last veterinarian). I am very appreciative in how professional everyone has been and am happy to have found a capable and honest vet in Kamloops.
They charge you $100 for an exam every single time no matter what even if you are looking for a refill on antibiotics for the same issue that has transpired again within a 3 month period and than another $100 for meds. Be careful. Money hungry. Took her to another vet in town - they charged under $100 including medications to deal with my poor cat. Make sure you're taking your loved ones to people who care more about helping your babies than the money that goes into their pockets at the end of the day.
We honestly have no comments for improvement you were able to take Hank in last minute his care was exceptional, you kept us at ease, all in all you made a stressful situation bearable Thank you very much
The staff were very friendly and professional. They took their time to answer my concerns and are reasonably prices.
Dr.Sandy ,and the staff where very wonderful with the care we have gotten very very caring so kind made us feel like we weren't a bother explained things to us till we finally got it . Dr.Sandy does know his kitty's ,thank you so much also to .MAX..
Excellent compassionate care
Took my cat in for a wellness exam the regular vet sandy was away for the week was NOT impressed with the locom next time will wait for sandy too return.. girls in the front are fabulous!!
Dr. Sandy quickly diagnosed the problems with our outdoor cat. We felt like we were in trustworthy hands. Thank you for getting us an appointment in a timely manner. Prince Blackie is on his way to a healthier life.
As with many of the other negative reviews, this low rating is due to Dr. Sandy's poor attitude alone. The rest of the staff and vets have been wonderful and competent. Unfortunately Dr. Sandy is bringing down the reputation of the Cat Hospital with the way he treats his clients as we have recently experienced. Perhaps he is burnt out or too busy, but the way he snapped at my boyfriend for asking questions about the recommended treatments for our sick cat and when I called the after hours number worried my cat might not make it through the night and he yelled at me for bothering him and rudely ended the call, was unacceptable in our opinion. We spent over $1000 in 3 days trying to treat our cat and were incredibly stressed about what was going on with him and to be talked to so rudely and dismissed only made the situation worse. We ended up taking our cat to Oriole Road Animal Hospital where our cat was treated and provided medications and he made a complete turn around. I have no doubt that the staff at the Cat Hospital were trying to treat him, but we were just so appalled by Dr. Sandy's piss poor attitude that we switched vets and won't be going back. I hope for the sake of the rest of the staff that he has an attitude adjustment or retires.
If you want to pay exorbitant bills for very little care, this is the right place. I have a family member who was homeless and attempted suicide with carbon monoxide. The cat was affected. The Cat Hospital agreed to take in the cat on Friday afternoon because the SPCA was full, so far so good. Then they slapped a homeless, mentally ill person with a $520 bill AFTER dumping the cat at the SPCA and keeping its carrier. A reasonable bill would not have been an issue, but $73 "illness care", "$209.50 after hours fee" "$76 x-rays" $25.50 "blood pressure" $108 boarding, was what they billed, including a discount of 33 cents!!! What the heck is the "illness care and "after hours fee " for if taking blood pressure costs an extra $25.50? Once we found out where the cat was (not because they checked its microchip, they didn't bother), and let them know we would come get it, they dumped it at the SPCA anyway, before we could come pick it up and pay the bill. When I asked them what they did to treat her, they said it was fine and didn't need much care, so then when I questioned the high bill, they said it was because of the after hours charge. I guess in this office Friday afternoon is "after hours" and blood pressure isn't included in an "illness examination". Not impressed at all!!
I recently had my cat spayed at the Cat Hospital. I was so impressed with how friendly and professional all the staff were. My cat came home feeling fine, with an almost invisible stitch line it was so neat. Her recovery has been smooth. I will be taking my cats there over the years, they were great! I highly recommend them and you won't find a better price anywhere, it was incredibly reasonable.
I had a sick kitten during the weekend and because most of the vets in kamloops are closed for the weekends, I was in a panic. I called Dr. Sandy during the after hours of the business and he quickly arranged for me to meet a staff member! The staff were really nice and I’ve never had a vet go so above and beyond to help me and my cat! They diagnosed and gave her medicine fast and provided call ups to check in on her. Very cute and clean vet office, the staff really care about their patients, and it’s reasonably priced! Thank you for your amazing work guys :) I really appreciate it!
I took my 15 year old cat in for recurring ear issues which haven't been resolved elsewhere. The Cat Hospital is so welcoming, and has a warm and homey atmosphere in the exam room. Gyro was so comfortable there, he curled up on the armchair and had a little rest while we waited for swab results. Dr. Bennett was caring and thorough. Reasonable price, and am actually looking forward to our next visit.
Brought my boy in to see the vet at the cat hospital of Kamloops . Not only did they get me in right away, but they took the time to go over every sign and symptom my cat was having to rule out any other problems. They didn’t try to up sell me on unneeded procedures and food. They genuinely cared about the wellbeing of my animal. I walked out of there with a healthy animal and the confidence knowing he was cared for properly. Definitely will be going back for any of his veterinarian needs.
The best place to take ur cat!!! Dr. Sandy is amazing!!!!! That man loves cats and not ur money! A great man and great at what he does!
Dr. Sandy really understands cat behaviour and wants the best for the cat and owner. He is the only vet that my cat didn't pee himself with fear when going in for a check up. I felt confident in him and his staff - my cat was getting the best possible care in Kamloops.
Took my cat here for a spay. The spay was done well and the rest of the staff were wonderful, however had a terrible experience with Dr Sandy. It seems he made an assumption about me and my pet ownership and entered the conversation with an attitude and was entirely disrespectful to me. While I am not a vet and I understand that, I was shocked at the way he spoke to me about my pet care practices, specifically for using more than one vet in the past despite a valid reason. Pushed a food brand I don't agree with and for no reason, especially since he admitted to me my cat was healthy although had "excessive abdominal fat" (which I also disagree with, and has never been brought to my attention by other vets). His staff informed me that my cat had a mouth infection and I agreed to the $90 charge for an additional exam, only to find out it was actually dermatitis from "chewing on things" (which he later said cats don't even do?). He then attempted to gaslight me by saying his staff never told me it was an infection, which I have a text with those exact words. To his credit he did waive this charge, however immediately told me never to come back. I am quite honestly blown away and spent the entire conversation confused. I have never experienced such horrible service by any medical professional (animal OR human) and to be spoken to as if I treat my animals horribly because I don't force them to go outside and don't feed them Purina, which he sells and pushed. I'm not sure if this was simply a bad day, or he assumed I'm incompetent based on my age, or what the issue was - rest assured he did not need to tell me not to return, as I wouldn't have to begin with. I'd like to reiterate that the rest of the staff was lovely and very helpful. I really hope Dr Sandy can work on his approach.
They are an amazing staff of feline health care providers.
We are very happy with the loving medical care provided. Thanks so much!
Took good care of Karley
I highly recommend the Cat Hospital! All staff provided extremely timely and professional care to my previous cat Peanut. When her health worsened at 18 years of age Dr. Sandy recommended palliative treatments rather than pushing diagnostic procedures. Now, we have taken our 1 year old cat there since he was a 6 week old stray kitten and still have nothing but good things to say about his care. They have a vaccination deal that is very fair and their neutering fees are very affordable. Dr. Sandy will try to persuade you to buy the food they sell at the clinic but I haven't found him to be overly pushy (we buy other food).
Heyhey is doing well ❤️ the cat hospital took him in very promptly and was wonderful thru the entire visit!
so far i’m not impressed with how business is done here. on first consult with our 8 year old cat they did an ultrasound. apparently no urine and a “large bright mass” but couldn’t do a urinalysis. special food (as many have described) and medication were prescribed for a total bill of $250. we do not have a lot of money so i asked if the vet could discuss what the next steps would be but was told flat out that speculation isn’t something he would entertain. brought our cat back for the follow up visit to do the ultrasound/urinalysis. now i’m told that it’s blood work that she needs which came up normal. vet gives us the the option of new medication (even though we still have no diagnosis) and wants to see our cat again in a week. this time the bill runs $300. so now we have multiple tests with no solid results and no follow up test on bladder as originally planned, medicine that did nothing on the first go?, and some more new medicine that may or may not fix a problem we can’t discern. what was the other option you ask? to give up our cat to the spca he says. great tact there doc **response to reply** thank you for taking at least as much time to write that response as you did explaining how you were trying to help. the majority of the weight loss was prior to the first visit which was explained and why she was brought in. And, saying “free of charge” while charging exorbitant fees is lip service. Anyone can throw darts at a problem and hope something sticks and that’s how i feel things have gone. i will call in and hope we can get my cat healthy again
My experience was perfect...thank-you!
The folks at The Cat Hospital were able to get our cat in on short notice and provided us with a very thorough report on our cat's health problems and did something that no other vets in town have so far: followed up with a check in phone call the next day. We've been very pleased with their service!
Can't say enough good things about this place. We attended with our 13 year old kitty in renal distress and the vets/staff were incredibly kind, caring, and professional. Our kitty ended up staying a week, and when she was discharged, Dr. Erin and a tech walked us through kitty's ongoing care needs and sent us home with everything we needed. The clinic even phoned to check up on our cat over the next couple of days! So caring and so great. Highly recommend.
They care for my cats the same way I do - with love and patience. Every person there is compassionate and engaged in helping our cats and us. Even, or especially, during the loss of a pet, they were amazingly caring and helpful.
The staff at The Cat Hospital were wonderfully caring with the feline member of our family.
Very unsatisfied of course like everyone here is explaining that has complained they will try to push there kind of food on you. Make sure if you still want to go here when you go to get your cat spay or neuter that you make sure you go over the prices before you go ahead with it. The way things were explained to us with first shots we thought we were going to pay way less than we did as the way things were explained it was deceptive the way that things were explained to us. I can totally see why this place is able to stay in business. Beware you will pay allot. The only reason why they even get 1 star is in due to not being able to post the review without at least giving 1 star if I had my choice they would not get any.
Very caring and helpful. Supportive.
I cannot express enough just how thankful I am for the amazing staff at this place. My kitty was hit a couple weeks ago by a car (or so we think) - we originally brought her to vet closer to our house in the Shuswap and learned that she had a dislocated hip and needed surgery to put it back in place. After 5 days of waiting to hear from them on a surgery date I finally learned that it wouldn't be for another 2 weeks. Mortified and unwilling to leave my kitty in pain for that long I reached out to this hospital. I got a consult the very next day and Dr. Sandy (who was suppose to leave on vacation the following day) stayed to perform the surgery for my girl!! It may be a longer drive for me, but if either of my fur faces need to see a vet, you can guarantee that I'll be taking them here from now on!! THANK YOU to Dr.Sandy and all of the lovely staff - I appreciate your compassion, dedication and willingness to help!!
such a kind and caring staff :) my stress level was high, worrying about my fur baby, and was instantly calmed, once there. both the vet and staff were all so helpful, knowledgable and helpful. I am definitely going back and would recommend them to everyone, with a cat! my cat was also very happy and calm during the vest and after we left :)
I sent an online requested for an appointment for my sick cat. Within hours I received a phone call and advice. An appointment time that worked for me was arranged to accommodate me living an hour and a half drive away from Kamloops. I was greeted at the Hospital with kindness, concern and professionalism. The bright, clean and friendly atmosphere of the office calmed me. Quickly and professionally my cat's health was assessed and a treatment prescribed. Thank you for your excellent service.
Not a good place to bring your cat, staff are young act like they care but don't the vet is arrogant I do not recommend.
I feel confident that my cats will be taken care of when I bring them to this clinic. The staff are always a pleasant joy to see as well! I recommend this place for your cats health and needs ♥️
They were great at getting my cat in for an emergency procedure. Dr. Sandy, Dr. Drew, and Dr. Erin were all caring and thorough with my little guy’s health, the level of proactive care and follow up was really appreciated. Would definitely recommend them for ongoing care if you are in need of a vet or looking to change current practitioners.
It was extremely frustrating not having The Cat Hospital of Kamloops follow through on contacting the insurance company in order to see if the insurance company could pre approve a surgery I was made to feel was urgently needed. Upon leaving the vet, I confirmed with the receptionist that it would only be one day until she heard back from the representative in regards to the surgery being partly covered. The next day when I called again to confirm I was told it would either be that same day or the next. After 3 days of not hearing anything, I decided to call the insurance company myself and was informed that no contact had been made from the vet. Thankfully, the insurance company was very helpful and were able to expedite the process and get back to me within less than 24 hours. I unnecessarily spent 3 days extremely upset and stressed due to being told she needed the surgery immediately. I wish the same sense of urgency was felt from their side as well.
I will start this off by saying I don’t normally write any reviews on any type of service. I believe every person, or business, makes mistakes and shouldn’t be judged by one. But this mistake put my pets life at risk so it needs to be heard by any potential clients of The Cat Hospital. We brought our cat Luna to their facility when she was six months old. This was not our normal veterinary I want to make that very clear. My husband had heard that the SPCA was giving vouchers for spaying to certain vets so we received one and thought it was safe enough as this vet was popular in Kamloops. We dropped Luna off at around 8AM for her appointment and returned at 430 when contacted to pick her up. Upon pick up, nothing was told to me other than the spaying went well and to have a good day. Once we got home, we noticed there was some secondary cuts beside her incision site that had been glued shut. There was excess glue all over the entire site. I called The Cat Hospital immediately who advised Luna had done this to herself. They claimed that after they had applied topical anesthetic that she began “clawing and scratching” the area. I immediately was in shock as I’ve never seen my cat, or any animal for that matter, claw themselves until their skin is cut and damaged. I ended the call as I wasn’t sure what else to say and received a call back within a few minutes. They stated that they had actually been shaving Luna and cut her in error. They did not apologize for the incident or for their initial lie and did not provide any aftercare instructions for this wound. Later that evening, we happened to notice Luna was acting strangely before bed. After catching her and looking at her incision site, we noticed a small opening at the top. The incision had opened and blood was pouring out all over our floor. I grabbed my phone and contacted the after hours number for The Cat Hospital for assistance. The line was answered by a “Dr. Drew”. I explained the situation and they stated there was no emergency and the wound could be inspected in the morning. I advised that I would prefer it be inspected as it had opened and blood was pouring out. Now I will say, I spent a good 10 minutes trying to convince this person that this was an emergent situation after they stated multiple times it was not. They finally agreed to see Luna, subject to an after hours emergency fee of $400 regardless of the fact that they had performed the incision I agreed because my cats health meant much more than $400 to me. I will not get into many details about what happened when we met this Dr.Drew because my husband, myself and Luna are still traumatized to this day by what happened in that room. Dr. Drew put my animals life at risk more so than I had ever experienced before. He glued his fingers mistakenly to the incision site and ended up ripping the entire incision open and had to staple it back shut on the table with no topical anesthetic or freezing whatsoever. No after care instructions were given and we were sent home. Thankfully our regular vet was able to see us the next morning and remove the poor applied staples and insure Luna would have a safe and painless healing from their mistakes. After filing a serious complaint to The BC College of Veterinarians, I was notified Dr. Drew is not even a registered vet. He was operating the after hours emergency line as a newly graduated student with no experience. The lack of care for an animals well being is so disgusting and for that reason I would warn anyone bringing their animal to this place. The college has fined Dr. Sandy so he will pay for this mistake but that doesn’t mean they won’t continue to endanger the lives of animals so that is why I am leaving this review. The worst part of this all was when I presented this information to Dr. Sandy the day after, he made excuse after excuse for Dr. Drew’s actions citing “he’s just a young guy who makes mistakes” and “he’s learning”, etc. I’m sorry but you should have the MOST experienced vet on these after hours calls as they could be life or death.
I was very happy with the service & caring during a very stressful time
Absolutely recommend taking your cat here. My cat needed emergency surgery and they made time for her right away. All of the staff are patient and really do care about the cats comfort and health.
I had to put my cat down, she was 18 and I shared my whole life with her. I paid for her cremation and it was expensive and they told me she would be in an urn and they gave her back to me in a ziplock bag. I should have listened to the reviews and gone anywhere but there. I am completely disgusted by them for doing that.
Unprofessional - Sandy told my husband "I dont have time to answer all of your questions" when it came to our cats surgery. Surgery was completed but results came back inconslusive. Spent almost $4k for nothing. Went to another vet and got better service and a diagnosis. (At least the vet techs here were nice)
We have nothing but great things to say about the doctors and staff! They're professional and considerate. Our cat is like our baby and they took amazing care of her! Thank you all for everything!
The staff at the Cat Hospital are so caring and I felt 100% comfortable leaving my kitty in their care. Highly recommend for all your cat needs.
The vet here was too arrogant and self-righteous to even give one minute of his time to return my phone call. I was treated as if I was below him; not important enough to warrant a mere moment of his time; a waste of his breath! According to his office assistant he is only willing to return phone calls once he has received at least the first payment of several over-inflated fees (I suppose to match his over-inflated sense of self-worth). A potential client shouldn't have to pay for the common courtesy of a return phone call. This displays a lack of care, concern, or interest in actually helping me, or my cat for that matter, and only serves as a warning that this man is only out to stuff his wallets at any cost to those naive enough to hand over their hard-earned savings. How can anyone ever be confident that any recommendations from this guy aren't purely to line his golden pockets? I would even estimate that at least 60% of the services he recommends are grossly superfluous. I don't mind spending my money - especially on my beautiful fur-baby - however, I am cautious about who I choose to pay to look over my children - fur or human. If you fail to demonstrate care and common courtesy even before I'm your client then it is unlikely you will genuinely care once I become your client. I want only the best for my children and someone only able to demonstrate care and common courtesy once a dollar amount is attached is a cold-hearted flake. If this guy truly wanted my business, cared for potential and current clients, and had a true passion and love for the care and health of cats then he would treat other people as equals and have the courtesy to return a phone call. NO ONE in the service sector is too busy or important to at least return a phone call - especially to EARN business from a new client! I highly recommend passing by this self-important, greedy, dishonest, flake and find an actual veterinarian that cares about you and loves your pet with or without the money.
I took Norman (my ginger tabby) time the Cat hospital to have him neutered. They were fantastic with him. I like that they gave me his medication all measured and ready to give him. They are a great bunch!!!!! Thank you such for taking such good care of us.
I want to thank The Cat Hospital for the professionalism they displayed during my visits to their facility. They took special care with my Mitzy, which totally lessened the stress I was feeling. Mitzy came through her surgery and has recuperated amazingly. Thank you again.
Excellent care for our our cat. Taught us how to take better care of our cat and what we need to do in order keep our cat healthy. Dr Sandy and staff are amazing, professional and friendly. We will definitely be bringing our cat back for check ups here and will recommend to friends with cats. Thank you to all of the staff and dr sandy.
Very impressed by this place I recently took my 5 month old kitty jasmine in to get her first set of shots and Dr Erin made her feel right at home:)
What a total disappointment. This place pushed their food on us because our cat was sick with a bladder infection. Of course being desperate to help our kitty, we switched. They told us if it didn't work out we could take it back. Our cat was throwing up a few times a day, we thought it was her medication. No it was the food. Once she went back to her normal food she immediately stopped and started perking up with energy. We took back the food, and they said they would charge us a re-stocking fee of 20%....we weren't too excited about but we said okay sure. Then they said they actually couldn't give us a refund it has to be a check that they will mail! What a joke....for $24.00. Not impressed. Once we reviewed their food they push and push and push, turns out that brand has had several lawsuits for ingredient non-disclosure. And the ingredients are absolute garbage. Yuck. No wonder Sophie was puking.
I have always been a big fan of Dr Sandy‘s and now I see he has hired a very competent, kind and caring gem. Thank you for everything Dr Erin!
This is my second review. The first one was also rated 5 stars. All the clinics push their food because it's usually better for your pet. His prices are competitive. He really knows cats. To save your pet, Dr. Sandy is where you need to take it.
The staff at The Cat Hospital obviously love cats and understand the intense bond between cat and his human.
Dr. Sandy and his team are through, competent and very compassionate. They care for their patients and well as the "parents". Should we have questions they are available and offer options when possible.
Dr. Sandy and his staff were caring, sympathetic and professional during the illness and eventual passing of our 18 year old little girl. I recommend The Cat Hospital to all cat lovers.
The staff are very nice and welcoming and the young vet is very knowledgeable and answers any questions you may have! Great service, and my kitty will definitely be back!
