If you care about quality health care and seeing that the professionals you visit will follow through on their commitments to you, DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE.
Ever since Dr. Hendrie retired, the office has gone completely downhill. The front office team are constantly confused and mishandle paperwork and physician/client requests. I had requested for a year that my wife be added to the roster of the Dr. that had replaced Dr. Hendrie. It took almost a year to have them decide to accept my wife. Once I handed in the paperwork and requested a first visit for my wife, I was told that it wouldn’t take too long to get her in and they would probably need to do two visits, for the first time. My wife (thankfully) is extremely healthy, but she wanted a routine check up. About a week later, I received a call from Dr. Gerchin’s office (Formerly Dr. Hendrie’s office) and they said “Oh we’re sorry, we think there must be some confusion. We are not accepting any new patients at this time.” I told them that I my request was approved by the Dr. and that is why the office gave me the paperwork to have my wife fill out, so she could be added to the roster. They said, “No, you must be mistaken. There is a note here saying you should check back in the summer.” I told them that they are reading a note from last year and they are the ones that are mistaken. They said, “I’m sorry, but you must have misunderstood.” I asked them that if I was mistaken, how did I get the paperwork for new patients to be submitted? They went silent. They then said, “We’re very sorry sir.” I explained to them that this is a violation of professional practice under the OHIP operations code and I would now be filing a formal complaint.
Additionally, this office dropped the ball with a request I made to see a ENT specialist. When I asked them recently why I had not yet received an appointment, they looked shocked. They showed each other my file and whispered, “Oh my lord, it was supposed to have been requested last July.” I heard them and said that I was told by their nurse practitioner that it won’t take long to get in to see the ENT specialist. Here I am almost a year later and they haven’t even made the request for an appointment with the specialist.
If you value your health and you want your OHIP to be spent on professionals that will look after your best interest, find somewhere else to go. This office is a train-wreck!!!!
