Always great with our boys awesome people
I've always been treated respectfully and feel my pets are in good hands. Open communication and nothing is done without consent.
Got my cat an appointment last minute due to an emergency. They were very understanding and kind.
Worst office ever terrible front staff would not recommend going there.
Dr.Oakley is great and cares about her job and peoples pets.
You can tell that they love animals. Our dog managed to rip her stitches out and had a gap ...we made an emergency call late in the evening and they took very good care of us. They even let me watch my puppy get stitched back up. The only thing I would say is to get a cone for your animal... even if they say your little fur baby doesn't need it.
3 weeks ago, I had to lay my best friend to rest. It happend really quick and really suddenly. Everyone who was involved was beyond helpful, compassionate, and caring. Thank you for making my boys last bit good, and thank you for being such an incredible vet clinic. You guys are incredible.
The staff & Doctors at Grande Prairie Animal Hospital have always gone above & beyond for my pets. They saved this feral cat who had severe burns to all four of his paws, burns on his head and let, infected lips, a partially severed nose & most of his front teeth broken or missing. Several appointments later (including a dental extraction) this feral kitty is happily living inside comfortably.
Staff are great and knowledgeable
Took my 6 year old cat here a few days ago because of what seemed like a bladder problem. They prescribed him pill antibiotics even after we expressed he was very bad at keeping pills down. The next day he was worsening by the hour and we called to tell the vet and they responded saying they were shocked. He passed away later that night. Disappointed they didn't take the more time to look into his sickness.
Dr. Budd has been the most exceptional vet ever. She only works at the clinic a few days a week, but if you request her, she is the best. When my pets have been sick, she gives me options and worked with us closely for several years to extend my kidney cat's quality and length of life. She truly cares and went above and beyond to help us.
I previously found this place to be good and vets seemed to care. Until I recently lost a dog after a dental surgery. Lack of communication between vets and no real consideration to my pets health issues. They only focused on routine and not my dogs special case. Also passing the surgery onto a vet with no knowledge of my dogs case until the morning of surgery. I was informed she was higher risk but also that measures would be taken to ease recovery. I don't feel appropriate testing was done in advance and her death could've been avoided. Also the lack of compassion from the ladies in front when I had to come back in tears to pay her bill. I'll never step foot back in this place again.????
Good Staff.
Who in there right mind charges people for emergencie's. Trying to call but I have to pay for a CALL yes its after hours but if a pets dying and need to be looked at don't charge them for a phone call. Like seriously. Also I called 15 mins before they closed and didn't awenser
Maureen that answers the phone should not be!! Rude and very unprofessional. This happens quite often calling here for any reason
My experience with this clinic has been just awsome, my pup of 10 weeks received a full exam, along with second shots and de-wormer, what I liked what the full exam and the questions that the Vet asked, for example what are your plans do you want to spay and what shots are optional, obviously we want everything so we draw up a time line of when shots should be done and when, the fact that the Vet showed genuine care of my baby girl pup really impressed me, I think u will be asking for the same Vet going forward.. the Nurses that I have interested with have been absolutly brilliant, I asked a nurse to hold my pup while I run out to the car and get it organised for my pup to re-enter after the visit... totally impressed with their genuine love of animals would recommend to anyone looking for a great vet. .. love those guys.
The staff here are caring to you and your pet they even comfort you when you have to do the unexpected.
Friendly & helpful staff. Have never found they try to upsell me or book more appointments just to make money.
Not sure why i need to drop my kitten off at 830am, when he hasnt even had his surgery yet at 2pm. A little traumatizing for the kitten don't ya think? Customer service is piss poor, who ever answers the phone needs a few lessons on manners
Very friendly and caring about you and your furry friends! Their prices are reasonable, and they are quite accommodating when it comes to booking appointments.
They are great to deal with!
The staff and specially Dr. Haakstad have gone above and beyond to save my cat. They are extremely empathetic, caring and are amazing at what they do. Highly recommend them!
We took our Shih Tzu's to see Dr Angela Oakley to get their shots. One passed here at home. The other? She went quickly. She got heart disease and within a week of diagnosis, we knew, it was time. Dr Oakley was amazing with us as we euthanized her. She explained everything as she was doing it and was quiet and let me hold Sola, and let her know I loved her and will see her again as she passed. Now we take our Rottweiler in to see her. Soon, we will be taking our new puppy to see her. She is the best! She is caring and has a heart of gold.
Great service and care for my cat. Even phone me to follow up with her. Prices are reasonable and the vet only does what is necessary and needed. They do not ordering a bunch of expensive tests just because.
Amazing vets & fantastic service. They've always put my cats first and never pushed any unnecessary medications or procedures on them <3
Not impressed. $200 vet bill and they missed the fact that my puppy had round worm that was causing her to puke.
Unfortunately, I'm new to town and went here. My pet was misdiagnosed and given medication she didn't need. It made her sick for her last days on earth. I paid over $500 for my visit and was the one that needed to call them to find out the results of my pet's blood work when I hadn't heard back from them a week later. When she continued to go downhill, I called and all they recommended were more tests - instead of seeing what another vet in town felt in seconds - a baseball sized tumour on my dog's underbelly. When I called them for guidance, I was chastised for not having brought in a urine sample, which I had done first thing the next morning after our appointment, and which the front desk receptionist threw out because he didn't see one recommended on my dog's medical record. Save yourself time, money, and heartache - make a b-line for Dr. George's office around the corner instead so your pet and you can get the treatment you deserve.
This was a few months back - Had an emergency and was able to talk to a doctor right away during late hours. Very helpful.
Unfortunately it is a visit we did not want to make. They are a very compassionate group of people.
There seems to be a lot of 0-100 comments on here. Maybe it's just the specific vet you got. However I had my new born puppy go here every month for her shots and Michelle was nothing but amazing. I brought her in to be fixed and they wouldn't do it because her liver was working to hard and they didn't want anything to happen to her seeing as it would have to work that much harder to fight off the anastetic. I brought her in a month later to do blood work and see how her liver was doing and they didn't charge me. They said "Well this is practically a follow up test so why would we charge you for that. Gotta make sure your baby is doing okay". I mean, how is that a vet that doesn't care? She then was played to go into surgery. They called me before and after it to let me know how she was doing. Even when I went to pick her up they were super friendly and helpful.
Can always fit us in. Very friendly. Remember our dog from one visit to the next.
Friendly service very knowledgable
Not bad, seemed nice and to genuinely care for my cat... was a very quick apt I was in and out in 15 minutes, not sure what other vet prices are but it costed me $180 for the checkup and small bottle or medicine for my cat plus a topical solution that the vet applied but at least it seemed to have worked and my cat is back to normal
Brought my cat here for surgery, they rebandaged her IV wound since it was still bleeding. However, it was much too tight and I didnt realize it till I noticed a lot of swelling. Lots of blood had started pooling. I called other vets for ER, and was told they shouldnt give you your pet back with a bandage on that. It took over an hour to get and get it off. I've had to tear my room a part and wrestle her down just to get to her. This incident has definitely scarred not only my cat but myself as it was so stressful. Especially out of surgery this has put a lot of stress on her wounds and stitches as well. Never coming here again, wish I knew this over 500 dollars ago ????????
I had a dog emergency tonight and I called. Dr.Cook told me on the phone it was not an emergency and to wait till Monday and he would fix my dogs nails! I insisted he be looked at tonight as he was still bleeding and he finally agreed to meet me in 15 minutes. I went to the hospital, no Vet, stayed for 15 more minutes, drove to other clinic and back just to make sure I was at right clinic and also called back to confirm which the call centre did. Finally got to speak to Dr. Cook again and he states he was at the clinic and I did not show up, this was not an emergency and he was not coming back to deal with it. My VET in Cochrane told me this was and exactly what he should of done. I now sit here with a injured dog waiting for tomorrow to come after I bandaged it the best I could. Absolutely livid with the way we were treated for a EMERGENCY! Thanks to another vet in this town I was instructed on what to do and she will be fixing him tomorrow.
Took our 9 month old kitten Jack 1 week ago here because he was acting wierd and had some odour to him. Doctor looked him over in like 5 minutes and said he was ok $90 please. I’m sorry to say Jack passed on yesterday :( thanks a lot Grande Prairie animal ‘hospital’ you really care about animals and not a pay cheque. I would never bring my animals here ever again.
Always makes you feel welcome - always able to get a timely appointment - a partner for the life of your pet.
We brought our 17 year old very loved dog in to be euthanized. Our experience at the clinic was HORRIBLE. For the love of your pets please do not take them into this clinic. We had been told it is a peaceful process and the animal is given something to relax them. They did not do this step our dog was euthanized from a standing position so fell to the table upon dying. Sorry to be so graphic but people need to know the truth. That was after standing in the waiting room for 10 min while they made sure they got our payment and then been given a room with a cold metal table with a small blanket for him. While we were in the room they did not even have the respect to keep their joking and laughing quiet. Shame on this clinic!!
My chocolate lab today hurt herself to the point she was bleeding from the ears and worse yet was shaking those ears so hard it was causing more damage as well as causing blood spray. I went to two other vet clinics in town where I was told that no one could see her and that she would just have to suffer until Monday unless I wanted to wait a couple of hours and call in a vet as an emergency. For a $150.00 call out fee might I add plus what ever the treatment cost were. But the worst is she would have to suffer for 2 more hours. I finally found this clinic, where right away my dog was helped so she couldn’t hurt herself anymore and I was taught how to help her. I can’t thank the technician enough, he was caring and thoughtful. Exactly who you want helping your beloved pet when they are hurt. Thank you so much.
When I lived in GP, I used to see Dr.Cook and he was always very good; honest, compassionate, and knows what he is doing (wealth of experience and knowledge) which was just made more evident when I moved and had to find a new vet. Anyway, I happen to be in town for work, and my little boo bear went into congestive heart failure. I showed up at the clinic this morning for an emergency examination, and they were so accommodating! My dog is old and so I've been waiting for this phase, as I was informed before it was a matter of time, but thank goodness it happened here and I could see Dr.Cook about it because he doesn't mess around. He is thorough, as I said, has a wealth of knowledge and experience! So I left with medications that should buy me a little more time with my boo bear! ???? Thank you good doctor and all of your very sweet staff.
Great people. They have looked after my dogs for almost 40 years.
I love the ladys in there they are always soo good with our dogs and the dogs are so calm and just let the ladys do what they need to... They are always smileing :)
We had to go there to put our family cat down, staff was incredible with us, especially our children. If we had another pet, we would go back for his/her care.
We have a ferret that means the world to my little girl. recently the ferret broke one of her canines and needed medical assistance to resolve the issue. Strait to the animal hospital I went as usual. After a 90$ exam, I was told they could extract the tooth for another 850$. This left us devastated and facing putting down the ferret as it becomes extremely hard to justify 3 times the price of ferrets, to pull a tooth. I called everywhere I could find trying to find a realistic resolution. Fortunately I found Animals First in Grande Prairie. They were able to successfully complete the extraction for 170$ after tax!!! The Vet was incredible and eager to give me peace of mind, the staff was amazing, they even tx me pics of the ferret in recovery! After following up with the animal hospital manager of what had played out, the manager showed no concern of their conduct or attempt to resolve. I would highly advise to avoid the Grande Prairie Animal Hospital at all costs as there is defiantly more cost effective and caring competition available and eager to earn your business.
We were beyond satisfied with our experience. We were new clients and they got us in the same day! Our Dr. (Heather) was very kind and listened well to us without pushing unnecessary tests. She was so kind and gentle with our pup. We felt the price was very reasonable and did not get over charged for every little detail. So happy we chose to switch Clinics.
The friendly caring staff.
I brought my dog in to get euthanized because of bone cancer. I'm sitting down, trying to hold back the tears, and the kid at the counter asks me why I'm getting her euthanized. Can't he see that on his computer? If not, ask the nurse or something, not me for Christ sake. Then it's time, I bring her in the room, the nurse comes in and starts calling her, "bud", not even the decency to look her name up or even her gender before coming in. Maybe it's me that wasn't in a good frame of mind but, I just don't think that that was very professional. In a lot of cases, people are closer to their pets than they are to other people. I think it's time for the staff to have a long hard look at bed side manners. Roger DiCicco
I love this place. I was really worried about my pup he was so sick. They were able to squeeze him in despite being super busy. Really helped my out and went the extra mile. Thank you guys so much you really eased my stress and I feel better knowing my pup is in great hands! Keep up the amazing work!
Great service
I have had nothing but excellent experiences with this clinic! I woke up one morning and found my cat was having trouble walking and could not stop falling over. I called the clinic and although they were fully booked they told me I could drop her off and they would try and squeeze her in-between appointments. They also worked over their lunch break to explain my cat’s issue to me and help ease my mind. Recently I have been very anxious and worried about taking my cat on a long flight back to the east coast. I called the clinic for some advice and the kind receptionist explained that a vet would call me back soon. The vet called me back quickly after and talked me through how to make the process as easy as possible for my cat and myself. The staff really make you feel comfortable and totally taken care of. I feel super lucky to have found this clinic and recommend everyone check it out!
Very helpful and respectful.
Dont call for an emergency if its not your vet. They will turn you away.
I brought my 9 year old pitbull in for a hematoma on her outer ear. They got me in the same day. Performed surgery and I was charged under what they quoted. On top of all that the staff were absolutely amazing and so comforting. I am a wuss when it comes to my pets and they accommodated us so well. I called a few times after I got her home with some questions and they answered them and did not make me feel like a pest!! They will be my regular vet from now on!!
Very thourel doctor I'd take my roxy there anytime treat u like gold
Thank you so much for looking after my girl Coco! I recieved great service and care! They sure helped with providing an extra X-ray for coco and worked with my financial constraints and we have a bunch of puppies on the way!! Thank you so much!!
Showed great compassion
Such polite and prompt service
Bad vets they dont seem to care about anything
Had our cat spayed here and we were concerned about her health before being put under and then offered us blood work to check and make sure things were all normal and since they were we had her spayed. She did have some issues afterwards which we were told to possibly expect and I called back several times to get advice and even brought my cat back in a couple of times. Each time they checked her over for me at no charge and told me what to do for her and now we have a healthy spayed kitty. They even helped us with figuring out her skin issues which 4 other vets couldn’t figure out and none of which offered us blood work to look further. We are very happy with our very Dr.Oakley there she’s amazing and we have an appointment for our pup to get his first shots and I’m sure that will be a great experience as well. Highly recommend these guys
My senior cat was having troubles with his back legs. They took him in the same day. They kept us informed throughout the whole examination with frequent calls to give us updates. Recommended medicine that worked like a charm and he was back on his feet in no time. Prices were very reasonable as well. Highly recommend. Will be our go to vet in GP from now on. Not sure why they are not rated higher; I've been to one other vet in town and had a bad experience.
Friendly service
So busy but has what I need . Great bulk items
Cant thank hanna enough. She had a huge part in saving my cat. Helped me out knowing I didnt have much money and pointed me towards a vet that could do my cats emergency surgery for a lower cost. Would definitely use this vet again in the future.
Fabulous veterinary clinic! The staff know what they are talking about, genuinely care about your pet(s) and do their best to save you money. Much better than the vets I have previously visited.
