Disappointed with their service. Employees showed little to no compassion for anyone there and seemed quite judgmental. I asked about payment options as this was an emergency case and was told no because my dog wasn't having surgery. At the end of the appointment, I was asked if I wanted the Royal Canin food. I declined and paid for my bill. When I went to leave, they reminded me about the food. They had charged me for the case of food even though I had said I did not want it. Overall, it was not a great experience.

The only vet clinic that accepts small pets! I had called around and no one seems to make little guys anymore but these guys do so it makes me so happy! They've helped me with my gerbils alot and the staff are very kind as well :)

We have always had amazing service here. We have 2 cats and were never satisfied with our service elsewhere with them, until we came here. They genuinely care about the animals and happily answer all questions ans concerns. When we had to put down a family cat a while ago they were very caring and gentle and made it as easy as possible for us. It really meant a lot how much caring they showed. I will always recommend them!!

The technician, who assured my friend that they would help in putting on a cone for her kitty, who just had been neutered the day prior didn't even bother. Rather insisting she do it herself. Also the cone that was sold is completely useless, as it was too big for her small kitty (would have been more suited for a terrier). it was a complete waste of time and money. Not impressed.

This clinic was the only one outside of Edmonton who would take on my little lady’s difficult fracture. I gladly drove the 2 hours to GP once a week (rather than 7 to Edm) for their amazing orthopaedic surgeon, and the whole team has been so helpful along this difficult road to recovery. They even went above and beyond on her last cast and added little hearts. Thank you for all that you have done for Imoen (and my frayed nerves).

Dr.Scott handled both my dogs very well, one is stranger aggressive and he had very little issue with her and my other boy just couldn't sit still. However they don't like to listen to instruction from the parent of the pet. So for that they only receive 4 stars from me. Other than that the whole staff really does care about your animal!

Always pleased with the staff and price at Animal First. They really care about your pets and are knowledgeable and compassionate. When my kitten broke her leg they gave me all the options and stayed calm to help me make a decision. We ended up getting her leg pinned and it turned out great. She is happy and healthy! They also reduced the price significantly to help which I will be forever grateful for. Great place to take your pets!

Dr Barth and Dr Scott have always been wonderful vets and provide top of the line care. I've taken my dogs here several times for medical check-ups. But when it's a emergency - such as a dog throwing up blood and unable to drink water since yesterday... They recommend calling around to see if any other clinics have openings.

I used to take my dogs here. Dr Barth is excellent, and I have no complaints about the place, but the wait times are just insane. Maybe its poor luck on my part but every appointment I have had here has been a minimum of 45 minutes behind schedule. I cannot afford to sit at the vet for 2+ hours of my day every time I go in.

We had our final vet visit yesterday ???? Dr. Scott helped our baby go to sleep. However, the second Dr. Scott left the room once our baby passed she started laughing and joking with a coworker (we heard everything they said). The walls at the clinic are very thin. In our time of mourning we found that to be extremely heartbreaking. I understand she does this for a living but for her to lack so much empathy added to our grief. She was extremely insensitive and cruel on her end.

Unfortunately not the level of care or professionalism I have received in over 20 years of pet ownership. I’m flabbergasted that only the veterinarian who prescribed is able to review and refill. We’re pursuing palliative care and the sense of urgency and compassion is not there. Only communicate via text. Very impersonal. Reviewed our lab results with our previous vet care team and was provided much more guidance and clarity - for free - than this clinic has. Extremely disappointed and will be pursuing care for our 4 pets at another clinic.

I went in for a shot for my cat they quoted me 80$ for the needle . Convinced me to do a rabies shot for 20$ and then charged me 150$ because they did an exam without telling me that was extra ! They also said they wouldn't do the shots without an exam !!! When your quoted one price a have to pay another that's not good like what if I just saved enough for the shots and didnt have that extra money !! Totally unprofessional!!!

Horrible costermer service. Went there cuz my dog as a scratch on his eye after the first appointment they told me to bring him back it would only cost 40 dollars. I was told I could drop my dog off at 8 but sat outside till 8:30. When I went to pick him up the bill was 101 dollars I did not consent to any other test. Theses people are just using the love for our pets as a cash grab! I've heard good things about Bear Creek so I'm going to take my dog there. If I could give negative Stars I would.

booked my puppy in to get neutered, and they cancelled it because of a scheduling error. that was fine so I called them to rebook and they said they had to call me back. never did. called again to book and it seemed fine, but then they called again because of another scheduling error. ???? I wanted to get my pup neutered almost a month ago now, just seems very unorganized. I like the vet! he's great! super personable, but he's moving away.

Horrible experience with my cat that was very sick. They dont even do any pre-consultation with you, you just write on a paper what is wrong and you hand your pet over. I told the lady that my cat hadn't eaten or drank for 3 days (it was a weekend he got sick) and that he should probably go on fluids. They called me at noon requesting to do tests and they said he was not yet on fluids and then ask my permission to put him on fluids after I stated on the paper and told them he is severely dehydrated and to put him on fluids!!!! They didn't act like they cared, the receptionist barely acts like you exist and then you get a bill bigger than I've ever had and my cat was probably not even touched until noon when they called and was only there until 4:30. I'll NEVER recommend this place to anyone. My bill was 1/2 the amount for a different sicker cat that spent two nights at Bear Creek on a long weekend!!!!!

I called on a Tuesday at 830am because my cat ate something he shouldn't have. I had him there by 930. I had to drop him off and leave him there. I went back at 2 because they hardly ever answer the phone and they still werent done doing nothing with him. charged me for an emergency vist, total bill was over 440$ for an x-ray and sent him home to wait and see. 2 days later my cat starts sneezing. All I got from this vet was more debt and now my cat has an upper respitory infection. They also charge $50 for an after hour phone call. Way to hit people harder during these trying times already. The only thing that impressed me was the tech texting me the next day to see if my cat had ate any food yet or had a bowl movement. But for the price they charge there better be follow ups.

Truly Putting Animals First. I have been in GP for 26 years and I have had several vets for my babies during that time. Dr.Barth and his staff are second to none, in customer and patient care. From a phone call to see how Bu was doing after his neuter, to having a script ready in 20 minutes after discovering dog lice, to understanding I only want the best for my companions. Sasha was on meds for high anxiety, but after switching her to raw food she no longer needs them. I know I have the support of Dr. Barth and his staff to help me keep these two in top form.

No compassion at all. Was there today to get treatment for my dog who had hurt herself to the point where she was bleeding and she was causing more damage because she was shaking her ears so hard that there was blood spray. Immediately I was told that they close at noon, I got there roughly at 11:15am, and there was no way the vet would see me and that they don’t do emergencies and that I would have to take her elsewhere. How do you have staff with no feeling working in a clinic and how can you call your business Animals First, when clearly that is not your policy? Only rated one star cause you have to rate something, but I will never take an animal to that clinic again.

I cant say enough good about this group of professionals. We have a ferret that needed a canine extraction. We had always used the Grande Prairie Animal Hospital in the past until now. the Animal Hospital charged 90$ to look and then quoted me another 850$ to extract the tooth. This left me broken facing my little girl that I was going to have to put her pet to sleep. I called every place I could find across northern Alberta to try and find a realistic solution to this tooth. I found it at Animals First! The amazing vet had awesome bedside manor and energy, the staff were amazing, and extracted the tooth at a fraction of the price. crisis obverted! I cant thank you enough for the smile on my daughters face! I would be honored for this facility to take care of all my pets needs moving forward. Thank you

Nice office and just being renovated. Brought my cat in for a check up and an ear cleaning, because he's been having ear problems for a while. I asked them very nicely, to sedate my cat so they can do a good job cleaning his ears. and not cause stress to the cat or have him scratch them. Easier for everyone right?! So I make my cat fast overnight and drop him off in the morning first thing, and pick him up at 5pm to find him terrified, his butt covered in his own urine and that he was not sedated at all. I have zero issue paying for sedation, I just want what's best for my cat! Needless to say, I'm not overly impressed. I then had to give my cat ear drops for 12 days afterward, and he is barely cooperating. He's scared, no doubt. On a good note, it does seem like my cat is doing well. However, when you offer sedation in advertisement and how it's more humane on the animal, then I ask you to sedate him, and find out afterward he was not, and pinned down and cleaned, I'm not a happy customer. I realize that's what it takes. I'm not a vet by any means, but I do appreciate being listened to when I ask them to do something they offer for the wellness of my pet.

Staff here are amazing! My first experience with them they went above and beyond to help me with my puppies specialty food. I decided to use them for my puppies ear issues and saw a lovely lady vet Dr. Huber, she is very kind and very knowledgeable and was happy to answer all my questions and do what was best for my fur baby. This office puts the animal first and is amazing. The clinic manager is wonderful and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend

I have never given a bad review on any website for a product or service I have received. My experience with the on call veterinary clinic this past weekend was terrible which happened to be animals first. I had called there in the late afternoon cause my dog was sick. I spoke to someone there and talked about my dogs symptoms. At thst time we discussed it sounded like doggie vertigo. She told me what to watch for and how long it could last. By about 9 at night itvwad clear to me that my dog was much worst so I placed another call as he was pretty much lifeless. I left a message for someone to return my call. By 1015 or so I placed another call with more concern as he was getting worse. At that time I left another message. I received no phone call back and my dog ended up passing away at home just after 1030. We never had a chance to bring him into the clinic to see if something could be done for him. It's terrible that you have a after hours clinic and they can't take the time to return your phone calls. The weekend passed and we never received a phone call back from them I talked to another lady yesterday who had the same experience back in September from this clinic. As pet owners we do what we can to try and take care of our pets. And pay the biggest kind of money to these clinics. We are heartbroken over the loss of our family pet. If something could have been done for him we never had the chance because after hours clinic never called us back

For the second time this clinic has given me the run around. First time was last year when we got our dogs cherry eye fixed there (didn't work longer than a week by the way) and I showed up for the appointment only to be told the dr was out sick that day. They should have called me at home before I left. I have to pack two little kids around wherever I go so it was definitely an inconvenience to pack everyone up and drive to the vets to only be told my appointment is cancelled. The second time wAs today and I went to drop my cat off there to be fixed. I was informed then that my cat should have fasted the night before but no one had mentioned it to me. The receptionist was adamant that she did phone me for s reminder call. I made the appointment on Monday. It was a Wednesday morning Appointment. I'm having a hard time believing someone made a reminder call the next day(Tuesday) to remind me of my appointment (Wednesday)When I made the appointment he day before. But fine whatever they said they could still do spay. So I leave my cat there. But then I am called 15 mins later at my daughters preschool asking me to come pick my cat up (or put her through the surgery where she may barf up her stomach contents during surgery). Why did no one just tell me that when I dropped her off? Why tell me it will be fine; that they have done it before? It will be the last time I take my animals to that clinic as I do not find their customer service very caring at all. And a bit stuck up. And not on top of things. I shouldn't be driving back and forth from the vets bc you guys can't get your facts straight. I would have given three stars bc I do think they care about the animals and the male vet there is absolutely great. But bc of their poor customer service imo, I give them 2 stars and will be attending a different vet clinic from now on.

Could not be happier with the service. Staff is so friendly and are truly there to make the animals comfortable. They always ask before they do anything that will cost extra. My dog has now had 2 leg surgery's and Dr. Barth and the staff keep me posted and my dog loves going there and i fell comfortable leaving my dog there. Can not say enough good things about Animals First.

If your looking for a vet office that will not only care for your animals well being but also help you feel better looking after your animal post op, go somewhere else. This place is disgraceful.

I was referred to Animals First based on my dog requiring luxating patella surgery that is beyond what my regular vet does. Everything from the consultation to the surgery and information provided for her at home recovery was amazing. I live a couple hours away from GP but if I was from GP this is the office I would want to have as my regular provider.
