I'm new to fort McMurray and my prescription was empty so I had to renew it but my general pract. In edmonton was on vacation so I couldn't get my prescription written and sent up here. I booked an appointment to see dr.bouwer to write my prescription as I need to take it everyday and I was out. I deal with severe anxiety and other mental illnesses and went in hopes of dealing with a professional who I could trust and instead left in tears feeling like there was something wrong with me. He came in didn't introduce himself or nothing. Fine. Then asked what's wrong with me. And why I'm dealing with what I am. To which I told him I have no control over my mind/chemicals in my brain. He then let out a deep breath wrote me a prescription and proceeded to tell me that he wouldn't be my practitioner because he doesn't like to share. He treated me as if I was some drug fiend just looking for a prescription. I told him he could pull up my medical history and I gave him my doctors office from edmontons phone number to answer any questions to which he completely dismissed. Not only did he make me feel like there was something wrong with me but he was moody, rude, abrupt and 10/10 would not record to even my worse enemy.

Dr.Bauer has been my doc for over several years. He is knowledgeable, professional, and has incredible empathy for his patients. It is my experience as a professional athlete, he acts incredibly professional in all settings.He performed as my cage side Doctor during MMA competitions here in Fort Mcmurray.Thank you D.Bouwer!

REFUSED TO HELP. Poor bedside manner, poor troubleshooting skills, calls patients without even reviewing thier files to understand what thier concern is. Got blood work (tests I had to request because he did not know what to do), he asked if I went somewhere else, I said I also got a second opinion from a naturopath as I have a rare condition and I felt poorly helped in my last appointmentwith him. He then told me he had nothing to offer me, said I was normal in my results, did not suggest any further tests based on my symptoms and also declined to refer me to anyone other specialist. Horrible and would not recommend. Definitely a doctor for only typical conditions and not very thorough.

I called in to make an appointment and they told me I can no longer see them because I went to a different doctor... I didn't realize that was on their policy. Very unprofessional

I was "banned" from Dr. b's office, I've cycled through some arrogant head strong family doctors but this one took the cake. Just wondering when doctors are going to actually listen to their patients before just blasting out the text book auto replies to the individuals concerns. bucket list "check" for the Ban I got I guess?! Banned!

He has been my doctor for the last 3 years and counting. Front desk is phenomenal. You never usually have to wait more than a few days for an appointment, and never have to wait too long in the office. Bouwer himself takes awhile to get used to as he can seem rude until you realize, he's a doctor not your girl friend. As said in a previous review, if you're looking to be sugar-coated and comforted, than this is not the doctor for you. You're not there to chitchat, very quick in and out. Outstanding doctor and service.

Generally always on time for appointments, tells it like it is. Don't go to him if you want sugar coating- he is blunt but good.

Dr. Bouwer has been my family doctor for 15 years. It has been my privilege and pleasure to have had him agree to take me on as a patient. He actually drove around town to find me once when my tests came back that I was in serious medical distress. He has helped me through my diabetes, to where I have dropped 80 pounds and my A1C is a steady 6.2. Always professional, always getting to the point, always informing me about how things in my body and the medications I take work. I feel so good knowing that Dr. Bouwer is helping me look after my health.
