We have the feddbacks of people like you who used the services of Eagle Creek Medical Clinic (Doctor) in Esquimalt area (Canada).
To this day this firm gets a score of 2.5 out of 5 and this rating has been based on 49 reviews.
You may have noticed that it has an average rating is really scarce, and it is founded on a very high number of scores, so we may conclude that the rating is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they are happy, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to write opinions when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Doctor belongs to the category of Medical office.
The doctors are terrific, but the front-line reception/MOA's seem to have an almost adversarial relationship with the humans who by necessity must talk to them before they can see a doctor. The client service orientation is somewhat lacking. Does not fill me with warm fuzzies, to say the least.
I'm unsure of who is at fault but my dr is dr valeskovsky and she was supposed to send off a referral for me to see a rheumatologist in January but i hadn't heard anything from the specialist so i kept calling the office to make sure they actually sent a referral and they kept telling me they would look into it and call me back and never did then finally today i asked to speak to a manager and she said they sent it off march 27.. THREE MONTHS LATER AFTER 4 PHONECALLS with no call backs! So now i have to wait another 6 months to actually see the specialist! As a 29 year old with a new baby being told i might have something as serious as rheumatoid arthritis at my age, it's kind of important to find out for sure!
Dr Turpin is amazing as all of the staff I have met there. I found the admin staff helpful and caring and Dr Turpin has been amazing , thorough and has explained things to me in a way other doctors never took the time to do. Doctor Turpin and the Eagle Creek Admin staff rock!
I wish I could leave 2 reviews. One for the doctors and one for the office staff. Dr. Velikovsky and Dr. Zabakolas are both very professional, efficient, and listen very well and are very helpful. The office staff on the other hand. First of all their phone system (when they remember to activate it, which they often don't do until the clinic has been open for hours) doesn't work most of the time, so just press numbers until someone talks to you and get them to redirect you. When you get redirected they probably won't pick up and you'll end up talking to whoever feels like picking up the phone. No you can't leave a message, they don't have a machine. When you speak to someone they will probably be very rude, like it's the callers fault they have to do their job, they seem miserable, and make their jobs harder and our role as the patient harder. They need to rethink some policies with a client care perspective. The doctors are great, but the staff are a hurdle you have to clear before getting any treatment.
Pretty standard for a doctors office. All the staff and doctors I've dealt with are super nice. The waits can be long and they can book up, just like every other clinic in BC.
Re Dr. Paul: finally after what seems like decades, I actually found a doctor from the days of yore. Someone who actually has the time to sit with the patient and discuss the issues at hand. The past 3 decades I've felt like nothing more than a commodity to be pushed out the door as quickly as possible, not so with this man. Highly recommended!
Worst estimation of time at a clinic I've ever seen. Told one hour, took over two, what a joke. Screw this place.
All my experiences at Eagle Creek have been positive ones. The front staff are pleasant and Dr Velikovsky is kind & patient. I'm grateful to have a family doctor again after my fabulous doctor retired. Hopefully Victoria will gain even more family doctors!
Waited 4 months for someone to contact me. Made an appointment for 3 months later only to get a call 30 minutes before my appointment that my doctor decided not to show up and nobody else could see me so I had to reschedule only to find out the day before that appointment that they're over booked and can't accept anymore patient. Why did I have to wait 8 months to be told I should just go to any other walk in clinic. So disappointing. You're playing with people's health!
Receptionist got my appointment time wrong, blames me, checks with the doctor, tells me I can be rebooked but if I miss the next one I'm 'out of the clinic'. It was supposed to be my first appointment to meet a family doctor so I've never been 'in with the clinic'. They are nice at my local walk-in clinic, I'm not hard up enough to start a relationship with a new family doctor like this, someone else is welcome to my spot.
I can't speak to the skill or manner of the staff as I have yet to successfully visit the Eagle Creek Medical Clinic despite attempting to do so on numerous occasions. Not only are their *actual* open hours quite limited, they also do arbitrarily do not open at all on certain days that they claim to be open (such as Sept 15, 2018). I understand there is a troubling doctor-shortage in Victoria, but it would be better for patients to have the few doctors who do spend time at Eagle Creek instead staff other clinics rather than tempting patients down to Eagle Creek only to find the clinic closed even as other walk-in clinics in the city have quickly developed hours-long wait lists. If the clinic is having trouble attracting enough doctors to stay open for its advertised hours, it should either change its advertised hours or offer doctors greater compensation to come work at the clinic so that it can meet its obligation to the community (which is to generally remain open and see patients during the hours it claims to be open on its website)
Called to inquire about the process of making an appointment and the receptionist was EXTREMELY rude. I was nothing but polite from beginning to end. Whoever it was should be relieved of her position and seek mental help for her anger and whatever other underlying issues are fuelling her hatred. I would give zero stars if it was an option.
I was phoned and told I was accepted by a doctor. When I phoned back to say I was happy to have one, I was told that said doctor's lineup was filled and that I DON'T have a doctor. I think this practice of making getting a doctor into a footrace is extremely unprofessional and I am very disappointed in this clinic.
Came here Friday morning about quarter to 8. The process is to go in and sit down. Keep an eye of who is in front of you as they do not take names/ numbers until 8. I see it as a good gesture to let people in before they are open. Once they opened they took people in the order in which they came in. Wait was a while but with only one doctor working (I think) it makes sense. This walk-in holds your place in line so you can check-in and then go for coffee! Receptionists were not rude and when it was my turn, the doctor was clear, knowledgable and professional. He filled my prescription and answered some basic questions. This is a walk-in so don't expect to be in an out in 20 minutes. I did have a good experience though and if I can't find a GP sooner, I'll be back again.
Update - Jada phoned with some sort of unintelligible update. The staff here seem to have bad days most days. She was unclear, rude, and had a negative vibe from the moment I picked up the phone. It’s unfortunate that we don’t have the option to choose other medical offices with positive staff - if we did, then perhaps this team would be more inclined to be kind as continuing their current approach would mean they would have an empty patient roster. Frustration and disappointment ….
Dr. Simcoff is my maternity doctor and has been available for us any time we need. He was there during the delivery of my first baby which was great as it was not a random on call new for me doctor. Now, pregnant again I went back to him. He acts quick when needed and available to answer questions. He is not the most talkative kind so if YOU have questions - ask, he will answer them. I rarely do and I dont need a doctor to be all warm and fussy with me. That's not why I am there but rather to get good care and answers to questions that I have which I always do. Brenda at the reception desk is always helpful and manages to squeeze me in in emergencies as well. Thank you !
Monday the 23rd of August I called in "regarding lower back pain. I got the doctor to call back where she recommended 2 prescriptions, and knowing I was in pain I thought they would've of been sent over to the pharmacy right away. I waited an hour and a half before going. When I got to the pharmacy it had not been faxed over, so called clinic back got a very sarcastic, rude receptionist say, " honey we don't work that fast" I in turn said I do not appreciate being called honey , and that it was very disrespectful and rude. I find her very unprofessional, no sense of kindness nor empathic, she needs to go before she turns everyone away. The ratings on your clinic speaks volumes, and I would dare to say , most is for the way she treats patients in person and on the phone. It’s the worst walk in it’s almost near impossible to see a doctor as a walk in you call in the morning it’s either full by 9:20 or they aren’t running walk in that day. To avoid the frustration I would go elsewhere. It feels so uncaring, it’s run like a business not a place to go for help.
I haven’t been to see the physicians yet but the MOA Luz at the front has a terrible way of behaving with patients. On two occasions, she has disregarded what we have to say. I understand that you may be overworked but patients are unwell - treat them with better respect.
Unhelpful staff. I had to get an ultrasound, they claim they sent the referral. The ultrasound place says they didnt. I asked if Eagle Creek can show my the fax proof that they sent it out, and she said that while they do have it, they wouldnt print it out, and even though i already waited 3 weeks, i am going to have to be put back at the end of the line. Also: huge wait every time, and only one walk in doctor at the time. Coming from Alberta, this seems so unprofessional.
If I could give negative stars I would. Terrible customer service quite frankly I don't understand how these woman have a job when they talk down to people as I was just spoken to. It's medical centre! People come here for help... give your head a shake ladies!
The clinic times are random and inconsistent, it's literally like playing bingo to determine when they will be open or not, they do not match up with medimap.ca or Google maps. They do not answer their phones during their posted business hours. Unacceptable service. Do not bother.
Very bad communicatin in this clinic.wanting to have family doctor from last 6 years, they dont know what are they doing.they called us couple of times and change appointment dates and forgot about it and then the receptionist called us and say u missed your appointment so the doctor dont want ro take you as a family doctor i will say the doctor or the receptionist did favouritism with someone else.
Constantly late and overbooked , the docs are okay, but given their overbooking and lack of communication with staff the level of patient care takes a nose dive. As they are rushed, don't have the time to listen and are quick to be out the door.
Love this clinic , I've been going here for years. Dr Simcoff is an amazing Dr. He always listens to me and does his best to help. By far the best Dr I've ever had.
I have brought both of my daughters here on seperate occasions. Was very impressed with the doctors both times. It just so hsppens each time my daughters were very distraught. The doctors bedside manner despite my kids axiety was very professional, patient and empathetic. Most clinics are rude and condescending. Theres no comparison. I love this clinic.
Brent Brougham's review sums it up pefectly. "Dr. Velikovsky and Dr. Zabakolas are both very professional, efficient, and listen very well and are very helpful" That is a very accurate review of the doctors. We really do like them. But the MOA's are on another planet altogether. We have also experienced the rude attitude. We are nice people that speak respectfully to others but we have repeatedly been talked down to by a particular staffer. In fact, when we first got the call back to attend the one on one meeting with a doctor, my wife was already booked for Mexico and the MOA had the audacity to tell me there are many other waiting patients needing a doctor that would cancel a trip to Mexico to get a meeting with a doctor and she asked what made my wife special? Excuse me but vacations cost money and time needs to be booked off, these arent easily cancelled. Then she proceeded to book my wife's meeting in for several months after the vacation. So what was the point of the insulting lecture? We let that one go, but the last 2 times my wife has attempted to get a refill it has been an absolute nightmare so I am finally leaving a review. The most recent episode they actually sent the wrong prescription in to the pharmacy not once but twice. After a week of calling them and giving them the info they still sent in the wrong info, then tried to tell us that was my wife's fault. She is a health care worker, she is not confused about medications and I was present for all the calls so I know she was giving the correct info. After multiple calls to the pharmacy to repeatedly be told that they yet again sent the wrong prescription in, it was too late to get the Dr because she had gone home, so we used the Virtual Doctor service on MediMap and within 15 mins my wife had a video session with a doctor who was very helpful and knowledgable and she had the proper prescription sent in to the pharmacy a few minutes later. What's the point of using this office with these out to lunch MOA's if we can just use the virtual doctor on MediMap and have quick efficient service? Again the doctors themselves are awesome but the MOA's get three thumbs down????????????
Dr. Ward and his front-end staff and so kind and accommodating. My mother has a very complicated condition that makes seeing unfamiliar doctors or wIting long periods very difficult. Dr. Ward and his staff always do their best to squeeze my mom in when she needs to be seen and we never wait long. I can't explain how difficult it would be to try and take her a walk-in clinic or emerg. Their kind, compassionate consideration is very much appreciated.
Not being able to provide my ohip (out of town) wasn't a problem at one clinic, this clinic prefers to charge 100 dollars which I paid in order to receive service. In 10 minutes my doctors words were "You are wasting my time" just to be clear with individuals reading I was passing blood this morning for the first time in my life. This isn't a joke or an angry comment. Just a fact that the service here is discipable, please take charge of your health and choose an alternative for you or a loved one.
I went to this clinic after having a sinus infection for 4-5 days. I just started a new job in sales and need to be sharp between the ears and not sniffling and coughing infront of clients while talking to them. I waited about 1.5 hours to get in. No problem that's the usual wait time. Once I get in I explain my problems and ask for antibiotics. Doctor assesses me and says antibiotics would be too drastic at this time. Gives me a prescription for nasal spray. I explain the nasal spray doesn't work for me and that I would like antibiotics. He says plenty of rest and time off would help. I explain I can't take time off as this is a brand new job. He says "well it's going to take longer to heal then." I'm not trying to wait 1.5 hours for nasal spray. Just wish these doctors would have some more compassion when I explain that I need to work. If I was asking for a Xanax prescription that would be one thing but just for some antibiotics?
Would love to know why the phones are not answered during business hours? Are they just getting organized for the day at 9am and not actually ready to start work yet? In keeping with most of the reviews, I've never had issue with the physicians at this clinic but the admin staff and the extremely restricted hours make it difficult to get care here, even when you are a patient here.
Doctors and some of the staff are very friendly. I initially talked to a lovely office assistant who was very helpful-when I was in person. Whoever is answering the phone is miserable, uncaring, impatient, and downright rude. Called to ask a question about a referral, was talked down to, treated as if I had done something wrong, and in the end was left almost in tears, with zero resolution to my question. I would fire this person if they were my employee. As much as it’s an inconvenience to start at ground zero elsewhere, it is preferable to ever having to endure, whatever that was, again. 0/5 for admin staff would not reccomend.
So many bad experiences with numerous doctors at this clinic. The MOAs are also dreadful, although I’d be dreadful too if I had to work with those doctors.
Easily the worst example of public health in the country. Was made to wait for hours to see walk in doctor, wasn't helped was referred to specialist 5 months later issue is resolved and still waiting for appointment. Did they lose it? Not think it was worth it? What gives? Health Care, more like Health Don't Care wish I could give negative stars!!!
I found Dr Ward to be a caring doctor. He checked into things I didn't know was amiss. Vitamin B12, cholesterol, blood pressure. I think he is a great doctor. I am glad to have him as my GP.
Doctor Ward and other Doctors and the Staff are very polite, kind and patient. Dr . Ward take time to listen . He is very compassionate , caring . He understands teenagers challenges which is a very huge matters these days.
This is the worst medical clinic in all of BC - do NOT go here, they are crazy slow, misinformed and have no care for your time. Sit in a waiting room for 3 hours with a bunch of sick people so I can be told that they can't see me today. Jerks!
They are not open enough to be useful.
Lady behind counter rudely told me to sit down and wait as they were not open yet. Eventhough the window was open and she was sitting there. She said the same thing to the next 5 people that walked in and went to the counter. If you dont want people to think you are open then dont have your window open like you are. !!! $43 dollars for a doctors note is outrageous and a pure money grab. Feel sorry for people who are on low income or single parents.
Clinic did not phone me to advise my family doctor was going on leave. Further to this, they also did not call me to advise that my appointment with said family doctor was cancelled. Took time off work only to drive across town and be told to go to another walk-in clinic somewhere else. Poor customer service and no ownership or apology by front desk. I will be exploring other options for my health care needs. I do not recommend Eagle Creek Medical.
