Never went there but had to call and they were polite and answered my question kindly
Do not waste your time even trying to see a doctor here. I've been with Dr. Carter for as long as I can remember but the support staff are never friendly, never help and you will never be able to see your doctor. You can't book an appointment on the weekends so if you're from out of town like I am, you will have to come in as a "walk in" which just means a scramble for an appointment. They book up so fast that it isn't a "walk in" because then you'd expect to see your doctor. When you work weekdays and have to drive Saturday morning five hours in HOPES to see your doctor, it's not even worth your time. It's always been nothing but a struggle to see my lifelong doctor. Frankly, I give up trying and move on, suggest you do too. And again, if you want to be treated like you're a beggar and not an ill patient looking for medical help, then this is the place for you. You'll see a doctor faster and with far less attitude at even a mediclinic
The receptionists are very rude. I threw up in the bathroom and came back and asked for a glass of water. She said just wait because I have to deal with a lot of people. Expected me to hang on to my cup while I go and throw up. Super rude. Made a face when i asked for the bathroom keys. I dont know if their racist coz im hispanic or they just have bad customer service in general.
I have been seeing my family doctor for over 25 years, following him from clinic to clinic and ending up at the Gateway. I have never had a problem receiving appropriate care from any of the doctors at this clinic when my family MD is away. My whole family is/has been under Dr. McCarty's care for various conditions such as Muscular Dystrophy, MRSA, pre-natal care, diabetic support, even facial stitches. When my last son was released from the hospital at birth with MRSA, Dr. McCarty reacted appropriately and quickly secured my newborn a placement at the Stollery Children's Hospital for immediate treatment after receiving confirmation through a rushed lab test confirmation. I have on occasion found myself needing care when the clinic was closed, on those occasions I went to medi-clinic doctors and found the treatment less than what I would receive at the Gateway. Yes you will be put on hold when you call to make an appt. so if you want instant service you'd do well to go to a walk in clinic. Overall I can't say one thing bad about a clinic that employs staff that have committed themselves to the "Doctors without Borders" program.
the doctors rocks
My entire family has been coming to this clinic for many many years with Dr.Wong as our family physician. I've literally seen him since I was 5 years old and I am currently 27 so I'm pretty much gonna be a lifer. Dr.Wong is an excellent knowledgeable doctor who listens patiently, and explains things so that it's easy to understand.Thank you Gateway Medical Clinic!
I've been a user of this clinic for the last 8 years, and in that time, received exceptional care with only one incident that was sub-par with one of the Drs we don't typically see. Dr. Keough has proven himself to be a great diagnostician, and extraordinarily well-studied physician overall. Can't speak highly enough of the staff. I can't speak for anyone else's experience, but good care also requires a good patient.
If youre looking for meds for pain, dont bother with Dr Carter. He is petrified of the college of physicians. You cant even get tylenol 3 from him for legit pain. I can understand Drs being afraid.. IF.. you will up your dosage or get on something stronger. But for me, I have severe extreme period pain like LABOR (no exaggeration). For 2 weeks out of every month. Ive been taking T3 for 15 years!!! and it works perfectly for my pain. Never once needed anything stronger. Not addicted either (end up going off them 2 months ago with zero issues!) T3 is nothing more than regular ol tylenols with a tiny extra kick. Smh. I would completely understand if I was asking for stronger and stronger meds or more and more T3s. But I wasnt. I was taking same amount just for my periods 2 weeks/month, the same amount for 15 years! But Dr Carter is scared of college of physicians. Like most drs these days. Its ridiculous. I used to love him til he got so scared of college of physicians. Its too bad I had to leave him after all these years to now find a new dr.
I dont have a family doctor, but if possible I go see Dr. Wong because he makes me feel like he is my family doctor.
have been coming here for 10 years and i have always felt really well taken care of. appointments are easy to arrange, wait times are never long and the staff are all very caring and efficient!
I have been seeing the same Dr. since I was 6 years old, I am now 28. I have never had any issues with the staff in the front most of them know me and my children by name when we walk in the door, and they are always pleasant and polite when speaking/ dealing with me. When I cannot make an appointment with my Dr. the ones that I do see are amazing as well. They listen they take the extra few minutes with me and my children and they always follow up with me.
I can't say enough good about this clinic and it's doctors. Dr. Ferenczi is an excellent and caring family doctor - the best I have found. He is up to date on current research, takes time as needed to explain things and will actively seek out up to date information online during visits. He is willing to problem solve for solutions that fit with my wishes and health goals and is supportive of mental health as well. I have seen 3 other doctors in this clinic when Dr F has been unavailable and they have all been excellent as well. I never wait in the lobby area more than 3 min to get into a room to wait for the doctor. The front staff are lovely. I have had to go to this clinic at least a dozen times in the last year and have never had a negative experience. Highly recommend!
Dr. Carter and Jan are absolutely amazing! As are the ladies at the front. My anxiety has always made seeing doctors a nightmare and they have never once made me feel as though my concerns or questions weren't validated. 2 years ago they had to tell me my yet to be born son may have markers indicating some serious problems. They handled it with such compassion and concern and while everything was ok in the end I will never forget how much they seemed genuinely saddened by even having to talk to me about such things. One hopes to never hear bad news in a doctors office but if I had to I'm glad it was from them. Pregnant again and I'm so happy they have been the team getting me through the first half. Thank you everyone there for your incredible kindness.
I have been seeing Dr. Carter here for over 5 years and have "complicated" health issues. I have never had a bad experience here, nor have I ever been made to wait past my appointment time, in fact I usually get in early. :) I would definitely recommend this clinic and Dr. Carter! :)
I went to this clinic several times as the location was convenient. First, I always wonder why those receptionists are not friendly? As a patient, it makes us more feel hard. Anyway, I had my bood test done 10th of April and did not hear from them so I called them on 23rd of April. Now ready to hold the phone loooong time? Yes! As usual the short answer, "hold on a second" and waiting and waiting for a couple of minutes. Fianlly all answers that I got was, "After the test, the process is still going on so wait till we call and let you know" not asking when I had the test or checking my files. I decided to remain like a patient patient. My another test performed on 25th April. The technician said, "you will hear from your doctor in a couple of days about the result" I waited.....Nothing! so I called this clinic again on 1st of May to see whats going on. Not surprisingly the short answer, "Hold on a second" I checked the time for curiosity till they answered. Almost 5 minutes!!! They said they have my results, but the reason they didnt call and let me know was there are no concerns for doctor to talk about it!! Is this true? I asked that again and again to clearfy that they said is true. Later their answer was YES and NO changing the answer using my lack of English fluency. I could feel something was wrong obviously when I asked the question that why they did not say the same answer when I called on 23rd of April. They seemed trying to make excuses as much as possible and saying if I want to see a doctor they can set up the appointment for tomorrow rght away. wow, very fast! I added one more complaint about holding the phone. They said they are so busy and they rejected my suggestion which was when they are busy just take patient's phone number and call back later not wasting our time. They simply said they don't do that. Simply bad services! We pay taxes we deserve definately better services than that. Gorvernment has to open ears and try to give the right services watching these clinics. Is there any way to report this kind of complaints directly to gorvernment?
excellent people
I would highly advise going elsewhere. I have been going to this doctors office for almost 20 years and will no longer will do so. The front staff are very difficult to deal with. I was constantly cut off while I was trying to request an appointment to review blood work for a reoccurring prescription. It is clear the mindset was not how to best help me but how to quickly get me off the phone "Just come in for a walk in". I have moved further away, recently, and with this kind of front line service it is no longer worth it.
I've been a patient here for years. It used to be amazing, but my last visit was uncompassionate and rushed. Hopefully it was a one time thing..
Dr.J.Wong..... more like Dr.J.Wrong. I felt like I was an inconvenience to him. Written out wrong prescription, wrong patient name and wrong date of birth.
Absolutely the most pleasant clinic I have ever been too. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. Doctors are amazing. Very knowledgeable and get things done. I will be staying with them for life. Now I know why my wife has been with them for 20+ yrs. I just wish I went earlier. Thank you Gateway Medical.
Just started coming here. Very professional and friendly people that work there. Doctor seems very professional and takes great care in your health. I just hope all this continues. It is very hard to find health care offices that care any more.
Waited more than 3 hours to be seen. Even called ahead to check wait times and they said maybe 30 minutes. Was not impressed. Very disappointed, dislocated my shoulder, had it in a sling, it was so painful, and that wasn’t serious enough for them. I don’t think that’s right, and would avoid this location unless desperate.
I love this medical clinic, all the Doctors and staff are excellent. Been going there for many years.
Nothing but great experiences over 5 to 6 years .
The front staff constantly forgets to give all the information necessary. Multiple rude encounters over the phone with the front staff. Dr. Carter seems out to lunch when it comes to taking care of long term patients. They charge for every little form possible and honestly have way too many patients to properly take care of the one's that they do have and still take walk-ins. Worst doctors office I have ever encountered. Go somewhere else save yourself the headaches.
The front registration just hung up on me when I asked a question about the vaccine. She said it was the wrong number and and or location and as I was still speaking asking if she had the correct information she said no I do not and hung up in my ear. Just straight up rude and disrespectful. No customer service skills what so ever.
Too much wait time.
Went for a WCB related claim, ~90 minutes before close. Didn't bring all my paperwork, no problem, said I would go back to my house, get it, and return. SPECIFICALLY DISCUSSED THIS WITH THE RECEPTIONIST WHO INDICATED SHE UNDERSTOOD BY STATING THAT SHE WOULD KEEP MY FORM OPEN SO IT COULD BE COMPLETED WHEN I CAME BACK. LEFT WITH UNDERSTANDING THAT MY RETURN WAS EXPECTED. Got back 50 minutes before close. Doors locked. They just closed early. After I spoke to them less than half an hour earlier, and specifically discussed coming back, and had no indication that this would be happening. Hung around for a couple minutes, went to the nearby Canadian tire to pick some stuff up for 10 minutes, came back 40 minutes before close.. Still locked. A true testament to cusomter service to manage to waste an hour and a half of my time without even attempting to put me in front of a doctor. Normal walk in clinics might need to actually put you on the schedule to accomplish this, but these guys manage to waste your time without even having to do that much. I Regret coming here. I will never return. I suppose that's a mildly negative result in terms of how badly a medical visit can go, but I still think it's a well earned one star.
Been going here for years. Dr. Keough is great! Very personable and seems to truly care for his patients. Highly recommended.
Heads up. A group is going to protest this site. Dec 7th and 9th, 2021 from 5:00 till 7:30PM Against child vaccines and vaccines in general.
I heard about DR absolutely good review amazing service all DR seat listen to patients concerns medical something wrong they find what wrong I’m really impressed about good service
Incredibly rude. This doctor should find a different line of work.
This is by far the best Dr's office i have been to. Dr McCarty has been my dr for over 30 years. it will be a sad day when he retires
I'm really confused about all the bad reviews for this place. I have been going here for about 8 years. A few years ago I didn't have a regular doctor but I always seemed to be put with Dr. Wong, I love him. He listens to all my concerns, explains everything in an easy to understand way, he makes sure you understand everything before leaving the room, he remembers details about my personal life even though I only go in maybe 2-3 times a year, I could keep going. So Dr. Wong is now my doctor. The hours at Gateway Medical could be better for the walk-in people, but Dr. Wong takes appointment times a few times a day so it's easy for me to book in with him, I typically get in same day or next day. Front office staff is always nice and respectful. Never had an issue here, keep it up!
Effecient knowledgeable staff and physicians!
Went here because i was retaining water and suffering from major digestive upset, lower back strain and joint strain, which symptomatically combined is, I learned later, quite disastrous, When the doctor came in, he looked me up and down, sat across from me and asked me why I was there. I mentioned the 10 pounds of water retention, stomach upset, feeling that my body felt like it was shutting down, and as well all my joint issues.. The doctor then did another scan and said, in his expert medical opinion, " I don't see any water retention." From there he weighed me, and asked if the weight was consisitant. I said no, there is about 10 extra pounds of water retention weight. His fine medical response to me....."so...are you overly concerned about your weight? What exactly do want out of this?" Wow. My response was a reason why. Perhaps some blood test to check mineral levels, hormone levels, something to help me understand why my digestion feels like it has stopped completely. I may also ad, that i tried to give the doctor my medical history, which he completely sluffed off, and which is quite pertinent seeing as I was recently hospitalized with a bleeding Ucler in September 2012, with less then 50% of what my blood count should have been , and then I went 8 months without menstrating. So after a roll of the eyes, the doctor said that he would write up a requisition for bloodwork. When i asked if he atleast wanted to check my blood pressure to see if that was atleast normal, he responded by telling my that he didnt feel it was important at this time. Long story short, I am new to this city, dont have a family doctor yet, and luckily found a wonderful naturalpath who has since told me that my adrenal system is failing. I have been accepted at a wonderful medical clinic in the city, to my naturalpaths delight, as she would like to see further testing done, like my blood pressure, as that can be a serious symptom, and therefore very useful diagnostic tool, especially when combined with the history of a bleeding ulcer, and current symptoms such as water retention, digestive upset, unexplained joint and back pain. Unless you want to be judged outright my the medical staff here, please...go elsewhere
Gateway should change its hours if closing out patients before the hours posted on the door
I have been a patient of Dr. Wong for over 20 yrs & I swear he is the best Dr. Always listens & is do good at getting things done for me. The front staff on the other hand, so are so rude & very unprofessional, especially over the phone
Dr dong is the best doctor that. I love him
