You have the opinions of real people who are using the services of Sherwood Family Medical Center Walk-in Clinic (Doctor) in the area close to Charlottetown (Canada).
Right now the business gets a rating of 2 stars over 5 and that rating has been calculated on 57 reviews.
You must have seen that its rating is weak, and it's based on a large number of feddbacks, so we can conclude that the valuation is quite reliable. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they've done well with the business, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to write tatings when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Doctor is classified in the category of Walk-in clinic.
The doctor who saw me was very efficient and pleasant which is much appreciated. However my first impression of the place was spoiled due to the receptionist. I had greeted her and tried to be kind and in return I get impatience and rudeness. I understand that a position like that is sometimes stressful and frustrating but if someone is trying to be nice to you there is no reason why you need to be snippy. A smile and a simple hello goes a long way... doesn't take too much effort.
I had seen Dr. Scantlebury, who was unknown tio me at the time, at another clinic in 2007. I remember thinking then that this was the best doctor I had ever encountered. He seemed to go out of his way to make sure I had good care. Fast forward to today and I needed to visit a clinic again. I found out that Dr. Scantlebury was at the Sherwood Clinic. That's when I read the reviews here, which left me perplexed. In spite of the negative tone of some of the reviews, I went there anyway. The waiting room was crowded (this is the state of our underfunded health care system folks), so I waited like everyone else. My experience was that the receptionist on duty was professional and polite. It turned out that Dr. Scantlebury wasn't on duty that day. Instead I was looked after by Dr. Sampson. I found this doctor to be professional, kind, and unflappable - just like you would expect a good doctor to be. As for Dr. Scantlebury, unless he has undergone a dramatic personality and professional change, I have a hard time believing that he is nearly as bad as some reviews here would have you believe. Also I found that the staff in the adjoining drugstore were courteous and prompt.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I didn't even have time to get the name of the doctor I saw because he was such an ignorant SOB I had to walk out. Do not ever go here! I will be returning tomorrow to find his name and making an official complaint to The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Prince Edward Island. Keep your personal feelings about a patient's life choices to yourself and not belittle them. * UPDATE* It was Dr. William Scantlebury
Very poorly organized. They literally ran out of numbers in the waiting room. I was asked to come back in 20 minutes to get a number, I asked if they wanted my name and they said "no". So when I came back they randomly put me in a waiting order and gave me a number. I've been waiting for four hours now. I would see a family doctor but I've been on a waiting list for 14 months there. I would go to the hospital but the wait time is 12 hours there. I've been in pain for 4 days now... I'm thinking of going to Afghanistan to get better healthcare. #peiHealthcareSucks
Horrible experience, new doctor, not doctor Reid but a very uncaring, nonchalant, & lazy doctor who wouldn’t write me a referral to get my blood test after I told him my body got swollen for no reason. Wrote me pain meds instead, & told me to call health pei or go to outpatient for blood test. I called health pei and they said to file a complaint against him because he’s not doing his job.
A very long wait. I would suggest going there an hour earlier.
Absolutely useless. Told my Girlfriend that her TMJ-migraines were being caused by anxiety without ever even touching her. When I said "it's not anxiety, she has migraines" the doctor said only one issue per visit, and kicked us out, as if she addressed the issue. The Doctor may as well diagnosed her with "Hysteria" for how much use they were. This place is run like a circus and I'd give these clowns a zero if I could...
Waste of time, Just go to the ER. Went to see Dr Scantlebury only because my regular family doctor is on indefinite sick leave. Asked for a prescription and he said to wait for my family doctor to return. Had to go to the ER to get a simple prescription. What a useless doctor.
Horrible service, receptionist/admin is rude, has no blatant care or regard for the health or well being of others. Tried for a week to get in so i could get a note to RETURN TO WORK as I was off for PTSD treatment and needed one to return. Due to the circumstances, I was low on finances, and even after explaining the situation I was asked to pay $25+tax for a note. When I tried to come back, I was turned away twice without question. Horrible staff, lack care, and crooks to boot. Never go there, you're better off waiting in the ER for whatever you need
I always found them to be professional and understanding.
garbage
I moved from Ontario so I don't have a family doctor. I stopped going to the walk in clinic because 1. The doctor doesn't really care about your issues. I wait for over an hr just to have this doctor not give me the time of day to actually care about what is wrong. 2. I take anxiety pills and was told by the doctor and the receptionist that NO walk-in clinics can prescribe me anxiety pills and that I'll need to go to Emerg. for that. I didn't believe the receptionst so I literally called a different clinic if it was true and was told that wasn't the case. Literally was able to get my prescription refilled the same day at a different clinic. So frustrating and unprofessional, even if there was no other choice then this clinic I'd rather get sick. I'd rate this place a zero if there was an option.
They are there to get paid not to help healthcare pei is so good ????????
One of the busier clinics in a shortage in family practitioners. Great service
Receptionist is extremely rude and short. Acting like you're wasting her time by being there and seems angry when it's your first time and you don't know the processes. A woman in the waiting room was in a wheelchair and the receptionist came out to open the door for her, but when it turned out the woman couldn't push herself, the receptionist sighed audibly while the woman started APOLOGIZING for her disability. Then, (as a comment on the entire medical center), when the woman in the wheelchair was finished, the receptionist wheeled her as far as the door and left her there, then she called the place where she got the wheelchair from (it was the clinic's wheelchair that someone there had brought her and pushed her to the clinic) and the girl on the phone said "yeah, no one here can help you" so they were just going to leave this poor woman stranded in a wheelchair she couldnt move on her own and just needed someone to push her to her car, help her in, and take the wheelchair back. She was close to tears when I went to help her, which I don't mention for any sort of recognition, only to say that after all this the receptionist was then cross with me for not being in the waiting room when my name was called, even though the other people in the waiting room told her where I was. The doctor I saw was good and professional and nice, but it couldn't salvage the otherwise terrible experience. Its the closest clinic to my house, but I'll never go back.
The hours posted online for Sunday are 1-3 PM. I arrived at 1:15 PM and a sign stated that all spots were taken. The receptionist told me that they opened at 12:30 PM and that there were no other clinics open. This is completely unacceptable!
The receptionist is extremely rude. This clinic should give these reviews consideration and get rid of that miserable person.
I was at Sherwood clinic two times this week. First with my grandson. Was in and out in 30 minutes. 15 minutes to fill prescription at pharmacy next door. Went three days later for myself. Again I was in and out in 20 minutes and filled my prescription next door. Quick friendly service.
I’m new to the province and don’t have a family doctor so I used this clinic. For the first time in my life I was met with a doctor that was incredibly patronizing and unprofessional. He spent the 30 second appointment with one hand on the door handle and refused to prescribe me (a 28 year old woman) birth control until I’d had an “on island” pap. So bizarre! I called to ask the name of the “doctor” and was met with rude pharmacy staff who informed me that the clinic doesn’t have a public line. Never again!
Doctor said I have Bronchitis
While visiting PEI with family, my young son came down with a viral infection. Had to bring him to the Sherwood Family Medical clinic where he was treated by the lovely staff and great doctor. While there was a bit of a wait, the experience was great for both myself and my son. Many thanks.
(Translated) At least doctor Reid is a good doctor there trust me. Looking for Dr. Reid, he is a good doctor, friendly and patient! (Original) At least doctor Reid is a good doctor there trust me. 找Reid大夫,他是个好大夫,友善耐心!
The doctor essentially dismissed the fact that I had an infection, and finally agreed to give me the lowest dose of antibiotics. Antibiotics are done, and a week later, the infection spreads. Not going again anytime soon :(
Never had any problems there, just be sure to have your health card and don't expect them to not realize your a scammer and just want out of work or pain meds.
Poor experience every time I've been here. Don't go by the hours online. The doctors really seem uninterested in patient well being. Would only come here for possible antibiotics.
The hours have nothing to do with anything. I showed up at 4:40 and got the last number for their 5:00 open. If you show up at 5, you're too late. I didn't get seen until 7:30 despite it having a 6:30 close. They told one guy he had to be back by 7 if he was going to wander out, so they know they go that late. I had paced my meals and pain medications based on the assumption I would be out by 6:30. I strongly suggest visiting the ER Wait Times website before going here. At nearly a 3 hour wait, there's a chance I would have been better off going to the QEH. Edit: I should have took my own advice. I came down again at 9:15am to get a low number for the 10am start. The numbers weren't even out yet. At 9:35 they asked people to form a line to get numbers. I got a halfway number. It's now 10am and I haven't even been registered yet. I'm #15 and they're only at #12. I checked the QEH wait times back around 9:30 and there was only 6 people waiting total with under one hour wait. I should have gone there.

Took my sister to get her foot check because it had 2nd - 3rd degree burns. She was refused service because she requested a doctor's note / form for work. The afternoon receptionist told her that the doctor couldn't provide the service but to go back in the evening. We went back in the evening only be refused again and told to see a family doctor! We then left and spent 4 hours at the QEH. We have both been on the waiting list for 2 years for a family doctor!
I was refused to even see a doctor because I need a dr note .
I CALLED THIS CLINIC AND THEY CUT MY CALL I DIDNT EVEN COMPLETED MY SENTENCE. I ASKED THE STORE HOURS AND THEY CUT MY CALL SAYING NO WE ARE CLOSED. PEOPLE HAVE GENUINE PROBLEMS. AT LEAST BE POLITE IF YOU CANT HELP. VERRY VERRY RUDE PEOPLE OUT THERE. LIKE WHY ARE YOU EVEN WORKING THERE IF YOU DONT WANT TO WORK. IF YOU DONT WANT TO HELP SHUT DOWN THE CLINIC.
Came In half an hour early before opening and said they were full and told me to come back at 5pm. The receptionist was also extremely rude would not recommend this clinic to anyone!
Receptionist is extremely rude. I came to this clinic a half hour before it opened and the receptionist already put the "full wait room" sign up when the waiting room was half empty. There were more seats available than people here and there was still 2 hours left of time that patients could be taken in. Would not recommend going to this place. Terrible environment.
the worst doctor we have ever meet. No patience. Just asked us to back home and have a rest. At last we went other hospital to solve our problems.
Wow worst experience ever with medi care waited 2.5 hrs to see a doctor told him all my symptoms dr scantlebury walked out on me after less than a min told me to get blood work
Three total visits. The first was fine although he looked at me for maybe 2 minutes, stomach ulcer, got meds. $75 from their pharmacy (pharmacy staff was EXCELLENT). However, my symptoms only got worse. Upon returning, a different doctor was in, Dr Reid, who told me the meds I was on oftenhad this issue, who instead wrote me different prescription for $20 that did the trick. Upon returning as I needed a form to get signed to return to work (was off due to first meds) and waiting TWO HOURS, I was told this doctor will npt sign forms. Call before you go, if its not Dr Reid dont bother, the other goon is useless.
The lady did not wanted to work and she was just chit chatting with an old man when my number was up she refused to see me when when there was 3 mins left and she chit chatted with the man bcz she was waiting for it to be 3 and which was not willing to work and said imma up for a break. Would recommend it to no one
Dr Scantlebury Is the worst doctor ever . Please do not go and see this doctor. He doesnt even care what you tell him, He did not even took 1 minute to check the patient, very rude very arrogant.
Wasn't there
I got good advice from the doctor and the receptionist was helpful, but the wait was fairly long. They don't have a number system there, so when they open everyone rushes the counter to pick a number and people butt ahead of others who were there first. Three people butted ahead of me. Everyone was pissed off there wasn't a number system in place that allowed people to get a number in the order they arrived instead of this free for all. It's the only place I have been with no numbering system, I don't get it.

it is good place to go if u dont have any health issue...
I was in there 2 weeks ago for my foot and ear she looked at my ears n said she will have to clean them later then after she leaves the room n says for me to take the medication she prescribed me with but didn’t clean out my ears no I have to go to the hospital for my ears I can’t hear out of it I would recommend not going here
worst receptionist i have ever seen done my blood work from almost 3 weeks before and now i am asking for reports and they are not giving anything and she said i don’t have anything
Every single time i have gone here the receptionist has been awful. I am VERY uncomfortable using this clinic because of it. She is so short and snappy. The last time i had my arms full with my baby, a car seat, diaper bag and my purse. She saw me struggle and couldnt even be bothered to open the door for me. A little friendliness or a smile goes a long way.
Called 6 times in two hours during calling times with no answer. When I finally went in I watched TWO receptionists blatantly ignoring calls. Doctor was professional but admin needs a wake up call. Edit: few months later had to follow up for results. Staff were very impatient and passive aggressive on the phone, for just a three minute call... I'm sorry, but customers shouldn't have to deal with some old lady's attitude.
Clinic isn't bad if you just want a quick prescription for antibiotics or something. If you actually need any more serious examines than that don't go there and waste your time. The docs there don't care and they probably deal with a lot of drug addicts trying to cry for stuff they don't need so they are always on edge and quick to send you out the door.
Depends on which doctor you get, I had a good one before but last time doctor took less then 30 seconds to write a prescription and ready to leave after he came to visit. Didn't even explain what was the diagnosis, I had to ask multiple questions to get my answers and even that was too rushed and not much of help.
