I was sent to Dr. Minnaar to schedule a colonosopy. It was done on November 20,2018. It took longer than the normal one hour and I was not awake. When I awoke I saw Dr. Minnaar and he informed me the surgery took app3 hrs. I was shocked. He told me they had to remove some 17 polyps and they found a tumour app 6 cm attached to my colon. It turned out to be cancerous.i asked him what my options and was informed surgery was the only way to remove the Timor and repair the colon on each side to eliminate any cancer that might have spread. I was dumbfounded. I was scared. He told me to visit his office in two weeks and scheduled surgery for Dec 20 th,2018. I asked him if I could pope one it till January as I could spend Xmas with my family and grandkids. He cheduled me for the 24 th of January 2019 I prayed a lot and did everything on the paperwork his wonderful wife provided. I was panicked but knew also I did no want to die. He assembled a sugary team and they all went over their job in the surgery process. Also Dr. Zackarieis noted to Dr. Minnaar that my hemoglobin was at 88 not good . The day before surgery I had two units of blood transfused.. I also am a diabetic and had previously suffered a heart attack in 2006. I was also overweight. I was not a great canidate for surgery. Dr. Minnaar discussed in detail everything that was going to happen and he also told me once they were in there it could be that I might have to wear a bag. The day of surgery I almost ran away to California in my truck at 5:45 a.m. In the morning in front of the hospital. I was panicked. Once inside of the surgery unit all was forgotten the team assembled to care for me and prep me was outstanding.again everything was gone over again and I felt 100% that all would be o.k. Well I am hear to tell you I must be a miracle man. I am at home feeling good and recouperating and all is well. The teams after surgery in the hospital were the best all was professional and took great care of me. I was kept informed of all matters. Lots of melds and blood tests performed and other things done. I was given a program to follow while I was in recovery and followed it to the letter. I can not say enough about how great I was treated and the quality of care was the best. Doctor Minnaar was 100% on the money about everything that happened. The resident surgeon that assisted Dr. Minnaar was also first class. She visited me in my room and checked up on me along with the anatesologist. They gave me a new life and the hospital does not have to take a back seat to anywhere on the island or the mainland. I live in a great little town and I than my nurse practioner for sending me to the best surgeon there is. He has knowledge of cancerous tumours, cancerous colons, and surgery. I am an older senior but let me tell anyone you can believe 100% what Dr. Minnaar tells you. Thank everybody who part of my team and. Also my friends and family. A BIG THANK YOU. LES JOSEPH LEGER
