Went for wisdom teeth extraction, everyone was pleasant to speak with, Dr Matthews put me through for OHIP and explained everything properly

Dr Mathews is amazing and very kind. I had my teeth pulled in hospital due to medical issues and he did an excellent job my mouth healed very quickly and with no issues whatsoever which is an oddity for me (again due to medical issues). He spent the time not only to tell me what was going to be done and why but to get ahold of OHIP to make sure everything would be covered. I have nothing bad to say about Dr Matthews at all.

Went to get my wisdom tooth pulled , he refused for me to have someone in there to hold my hand as I don’t like the dentist refused a stress ball. Grab my phone out of my hand and threw it on the table beside him and said “you don’t need any distractions”. As he went to put the freezing in I flinched my arm slightly and he put the chair back up and told me he won’t do any work and for me to leave. If you need ANY dental work done and are afraid of the dentist , DO NOT GO HERE ! Dr. Mattews has NO patience with his clients and is rude beyond belief !

The Truth

Front desk staff is horrible, nobody even says hello when you walk in. Dr Mathews himself does good work, not the best bedside manner but its far overshadowed by the desk experience. I cringe when i have to talk to them, ive spent a lot of my money with Dr. Mathews. I dont want special red carpet treatment, maybe just a friendly face and more professional disposition. I can only conclude after reading the other reviews that Mathews doesnt care.. and hasnt for some time. Go elsewhere, you ll thank me for it.

Do not ever want to return here. The staff at the front desk are RUDE! Not to mention, gossipy in front of the Dr.Matthews' clients and potential clients. I was a potential client and he lost me due to the ignorant and rude nature of the 3 women working at the front desk. 3+ people walked in and the clients said hi how are you to the staff at the desk and not one of them said hello or acknowledged them. A guy sitting waiting for 40 mins was finally greeted and told to sit back down after I asked him how long he was waiting for. Then for an initial consultation I was charged $80 for a not even 10 minute consultation. What a money grab! Caught me with my pants down. Shame on me. I will not be giving my money to those people to help pay their bills. I'll find another surgeon. So unwelcoming there, and the ladies' are cold. They were also talking over me so I couldn't get a word in edge wise. So unprofessional. Don't go here, find another Dr with pleasant working staff who will make you feel welcome. This isn't the place.
