The best. Kimberly Rutherford is an awesome doctor. I lucked out big time when she became my doctor. Couldn’t ask for any better. The staff is very friendly. Great place for care. You will be in good hands.

Andrew F Stewart

The doctors are wonderful! However, the receptionist are very rude and unhelpful. The clinic itself and the healthcare is excellent - but the front desk staff make everything unpleasant and difficult.

Spectrum has been awesome. I'm lucky to have a great family doctor here and a team of amazing nurses should my doctor be too busy for an appointment. I've always had good experiences at my clinic from the office staff to the team of health care providers. If your lucky enough to get in as a patient your in great hands!

Exceptional in every way, so happy to know they are there when I need them, as they always have my best interest at heart and it is great to know I am in good hands in regard to my well being. Dr. Jos De Wet is professional in every way, he listens and always brings the best suggestions forward, in that I am very satisfied with the care I get!

This place has always been amazing. Dr. DeWitt has always been an exceptional Dr. He tells it like it is, and doesnt sugar coat things. Always have felt cared for and listened here.

Our GP is in Vancouver and even though it's not close to home, we have complete confidence with our Doctor, Dr. Bradley Little. He's very thorough and human.

I find that in recent years this clinic has lost its popularity as I know several people in the West End going to this clinic saying the same. To get an appointment with your family doctor, the average wait time is one month. To make a phone call to the clinic, you need to stay on the line for 20 minutes at least. When finally someone picks up the phone, it is the same accented, dismissive tone again. Sending them an urgent email, you will get a short, cold, reply saying this email address is only for receiving documents. Making an urgent request, you do not get any reply. You feel that you have been abandoned.

This review is pertaining to the overall experience of the clinic itself and not a review of the effectiveness of the physicians. This clinic is problematic. To see your physician, you often are looking at 1-2 month wait. In some instances for some physicians, you can expect a 2-3 month wait. The front desk office admin's are exceptionally rude; I echo the many reviews here indicating as much. They can be confrontational, non-compassionate, cold and disinterested in assisting you. They absolutely need to start reading their many reviews here to institute some changes to make the overall experience better. The doctors whom work here are fantastic, though.

Ronald Morgan

Big improvement over the last while in friendliness of the front desk staff, and the new online scheduling is great.

Spectrum Health USED to be the clinic for going to when you wanted top-notch doctoring and patient care by their support team, but I cannot recommend it to friends and acquaintances now without hesitation; I have experienced too many screw-ups, lapses in my treatment (I've been waiting for at least two surgeries since COVID-19 hit)- and I just found a couple of weeks ago that my G.P. completely forgot about putting me on the list for that particular surgical team for VGH-UBC Hospital... am considering switching to another physician if things don't improve.

This place is the best. I've never had any issues here. Hard to believe these bad reviews are real. please try and remember that there is 2 sides to these bad reviews. In my opinion, spectrum is completely professional and kind. They always return my call Shortly after I leave a message (which only once since being there was my call not answer right away) and this is from someone who works with doctors and nurses daily. If you have an issue here, then the issue is not spectrum health.

Do not pick up the phone ever. Is there anyone working there at all? Open for business? Update: not compelled to pick up the phone because as they are not accepting new patients. Useless.

I'm very fortunate to have had Dr. Murphy (and her team including Dr. Rutherford, Dr. Neesa Coal, and RN Brian) as my family MD. I've been a patient there for over 10 years. I'm not a very good patient (repeatedly arriving late, or not even showing up to appointments, due to illness) yet a doctor has always been available to me at Spectrum health. And the doctors that I did see never made me feel bad for wasting their time. All the doctors and nurses seem to genuinely care about their patients, and I've never felt rushed through an appointment, even when I've arrived late. They're all very open minded, non judgmental, and smiley too (seriously, these big bright smiles). They answer all my questions, and if there is something out of their scope of practice they always refer me to a great specialist. Dr. Murphy and her team stay up to date on the latest health care practices, and I'm really enjoying the new patient portal website which allows me to see my results and upcoming appointments. I've never felt like medication was pushed on me. Other or new, more holistic/non invasive, methods of resolution, are always discussed before we consider medication. I noticed a lot of reviewers mentioning bad experiences from the receptionists, perhaps I've been fortunate since I've never experienced this; they're very professional in my opinion. Thanks to everyone at Spectrum Health :)

The worst clinic in all of British Columbia! I would suggest to look else where. The staff and the doctors here have no care for their patients at all! I was having severe neck pain and migraines for over a year. My family doctor here was Dr. Dwett, he is an arrogant and verbally abusive doctor I have ever seen. Rather then helping me find a real reason for my pain he wanted me to go on anxiety pills and increase my dosage per week! This was his way of getting rid of me and not pushing to address the real reason I was having pain. His reputation in all of Vancouver is known to be that he is obnoxious, replusive, lousy and hellish to deal with. Please look elsewhere I have experienced all of the above. I am horrified by this experience here at this clinic and I will be reporting them to BC Health.

I was a patient there for 24 years and was sent into a room at St Paul's hospital to see a friend who went there with respritory problems and wasn't put into isolation and I was exposed to TB in turn I went to sue the hospital and in court my own doctor threw me under the bus. I have no respect for that doctor that did this too me. The doctor was at Spectrum and I have a hard time trusting doctors nowadays. Supreme Court of British Columbia Downey vs St.Paul's hospital anyone can look it up because it is public knowledge incase you don't believe me.,.....

The top clinic in Vancouver for gay men. A top flight team of GPs providing the best care available. Unfortunately, not accepting new patients.

Very nice doctor that genuinely cares at people.

The doctors here are great and good listeners, but the receptionists are so rude and don't treat their clients respectfully on the phone.

May 11, 2021 I received some pain meds from doctor and she said if they did not help to call reception back immediately. I dod and this prescription was filled on a Tuesday, called next day too say I also had hives from the. My doctor didn't return my call until end of week Friday ay 5:20pm. She said no you will not get a stronger pain med, you need to come in do blood show my injury and pain areas. I've been buying them off the street and my doctor knows this--I pleaded with her for a safer script. She said no and then shared her discomfort of urinalysis, signing a contract. I was left to buy off the street again. Guess she does not care about my life and my financial insecurity after costs. Needed to share this because the college of physcians are not putting restrictions on doctors during COVID. I work in the research field, so know what is current and whats not. To have a guilt trip given to you that her license could be taken for a minimal amount of meds is so oppressing. Listen to your patients. Especially, one that used IV hard drugs for years like 21 years ago. I am adding to my latest experience of this receptionist again not listening to me. I had spoken to my Doctor the day before and she told me what to say so she would call me back. I've been at work in pain and on hold twice to be hung-up on. My negative stigma from Dr. De Wet in 2019 was so humilating. And this reception. Dr. Gross and Dr. Levitte are very caring and professionals. I do not have a negative experience with them.. I am having my one year at Spectrum. Been only a great experience with Dr. Levitt. Getting weekly prescriptions refilled has been very stressful the past month. I need them to function at work. The heavy accented receptionist today was so rude and uncaring.

rude receptionist there... her name is Christina

Some of the staff who answer the phone are rude and incompetent.

I’ve had a great experience at spectrum. In contrast to some other reviewers I’ve never had an experience of rudeness at front desk — and I go in 6-10 times a year. My doctor - Rutherford - is amazing. The one exception would be a nurse practitioner — Bonnie Yee - that I’ve found to be unprofessional on multiple occasions. In one such, I came in because I found a critter in my arm’s elbow pit. I was generally itchy and at one point felt a sensation of biting (pain instead of itching). I was able to tweeze this critter off me and preserve it in a sealed bag. I explained to the nurse the itching and biting sensations - but when I went to take the specimen out of my backpack she told me not to. It was “probably crabs”. And gave me a prescription. What medical professional would opt out of seeing a specimen? And then prescribe medicine? No thanks Bonnie. You need to take your job — and my health — more seriously.

So many people here complain about the rude receptionist. It seems she has not gone. I, too, had a negative experience with the receptionist lately whose terrible misconduct almost made me miss my important appointment. Not sure where to file a formal complaint.

An acquaintance of mine is a patient here and has had some very unsettling encounters with the front desk admin staff. My acquaintance has dementia but is also very capable of making his appointments. He just forgets, as is expected, but the front desk staff was very rude and does not understand what a patient with dementia goes through. The woman was rude over the phone and made my friend feel very bad. He personally, would rather I don't file a formal complaint, and there is no email contact for the clinic. However, feel that posting a review will get the attention of the office manager, I hope, and they can tell their staff to be more empathetic towards patients. My friend tries their very best and all they did was call a few too many times trying to recall their apt. times. THAT IS NOT A LOT TO ASK FOR.
