You will be able to see the opinions of real people who purchased the services of Barrie Sleep Disorders Clinic (Doctor) in Barrie (Canada).
At the present the business has a score of 2.2 stars out of 5 and the rating was based on 22 reviews.
You must have seen that it reaches an opinions average is really scarce, and it is based on a very large number of scores, so we may conclude that the valuation is quite credible. If there are many people who bothered to leave their score when they are happy with the service, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to put opinions when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...

Very helpful
Poor communication. Took me over a year leaving messages that were not returned and my doctor requesting a study 3 times. The bed had a “hole” in the mattress. The worst sleep Of my life. I have a CPAP now, just wanted a new machine as mine is aging. I was promised a follow up call by the office manager, haven’t received one yet. The sleep tech was kind that hooked me up. I do not know the results, but I received a call from Medi gas about a machine, so I guess I passed? LOL. Would have been nice to hear from the clinic or doctor about it though. I can’t leave a zero star review.
Brutal experience....got up and left. Dirty, cruddy, uncomfortable beds, obvious money grab. There is no one I could have slept in that lumpy, spring ridden bed. What is wrong with these people. Should be closed down. And now I read the other reviews I’m glad I left. Disgusting should be ashamed of themselves.
Doctor and clinic seem more interested in volume and cash than treatment. Had to wait six months after testing to see the doctor and when I finally saw him he could not get me out fast enough. Sends me to Medi-gas that was 3x more expensive then everywhere else for cpap (I am sure to pay the doctor for sending me). Five years later I call to get a new prescription as my CPAP was at its end and they say I have to go back to my personal doctor and have him refer me to the CPAP doctor again even though he has already treated me! I will be using RVH for my next treatment. I would think twice about using him.
They overbook appointments, it is dirty and unprofessional.
I had a good experience. Friendly welcome and very friendly technician. The room was clean and I felt comfortable.
This clinic and in particular the so called doctor told my partner at his follow up that he had the worst case of sleep apnea and that he needed to go down to the basement right away and purchase a CPAP machine from the 2 (I am going to guess Russians) he went down and they told him they needed a thousand dollars, he asked if they direct billed the insurance company and they claimed they could not. Now keep in mind 75 percent of this is covered by the Ontario government and if you have insurance which we do then they pay the remainder. My partner left as something did not feel right. you We instead purchased the equipment in Brampton and paid no thousand dollars in cash up front. Even after he left this place a week or so later one of these two men had his wife call us asking about purchasing the CPAP, talk about pushy. As for the doctor he looked my partner in the face told him he could die in his sleep if he did not purchase the CPAP that very day and told him he was surprised he had not been to a cardiologist or have a pacemaker (he is 43) our family doctor sent him for a ECG and ultrasound on his heart, both came back NORMAL. This place and doctor are shady and so is the basement flea market. Talk about feeling like you are getting medical equipment from the underground market. Stay away!
The techs are super kind and very informative. Although it is hard to sleep with all of the wires attached it was a very pleasant experience. The beds are very comfortable. Thanks!
Due to the results given I was very concerned. They want to sell me a cpap claiming I stop breathing. I had someone monitor my breathing directly at night with similar results. However since i cleared up my sinus, ear and lung infection the person monitoring me states I don't stop breathing at all now. The fact is the doctor ignored the all information given including my daytine difficulty breathing stating that I have some kind of infection bothering me and to draw conclusions. The only result this clinic had was a delaying me returning to normal health and pushing on me a cpap breathing band aid cpap vs treating an infection that was causing lung obstruction.
Have no complaints whatsoever , found that the support staff was very easy to deal with , they explained everything - Thanks Rob
Testing what sleep issues you may have is easy, if you tell your doctor. The ladies were professional and friendly, and the experience completely painless.
My first time at a sleep clinic, so I can’t compare to others. But the room was filthy and decrepit. A very small room with old linoleum tiling, queen size bed, old flat pillow, thin white sheets and a thin cheap comforter. Jammed beside the bed and wall was an old dingy pine bedside table with the intercom and other stuff. Paint was scuffed and chipped off the walls. The most visually disturbing thing was the 8” gapping hole in the wall, 18” from pillow height. While the technician at night who applied the electrodes was good and pleasant, the morning technician was not. I found it difficult to roll over at night without getting tangled in the wires. I could clearly hear others snoring in adjacent rooms and technicians conversing with others through the night. The intercom in my room didn’t work and therefore my electrodes were not calibrated - the technicians didn’t seem to mind. I’m the morning, I was given an old dirty bar cloth to clean the gobs of wax out of my hair, forehead, chin and legs - the cloth was an old, dirty bar cloth.
BEWARE!!! Dr. Steven Elia arranged through the Ontario Ministry of Transport to have my license suspended for not using my CPAC. He did not inform me that not using the machine would result in the suspension so, as a result, I lost three weeks' work plus all the other inconveniences. As soon as I became aware of the situation, I immediately started using it. The clinic offers the absolute minimum of service - cramped reception area, quick questionnaire with virtually no in-depth discussion, a sleep room hardly big enough for a bed and side table, dirt under the bed, follow up with dr. Elia in one of the cramped bedrooms. In by 8:30 pm out by 7:00 am. At least four attempts by some company to sell me a CPAC when they could only know my need from the clinic. I would not have realized how disgusting the Barrie Sleep Disorder Clinic is had a friend not attended the International Sleep Clinic WPSHC Parry Sound. Two-hour pre-test consultation, pleasant sleep accommodation, clean facility, coffee and muffins upon waking up. My friend had to stay for a half hour sleep test at 11:00 and 1:00 to check her sleep record during the day. My next job is to find out from the Ontario Ministry of Health if each facility received the same money per patient.
Not impressed. 'Nuff said
I initially experienced their Newmarket sleep clinic which lacked cleanliness. It took 3 months to get my results which were held from a shady respiratory therapist (See below for more details). I applied for a job as a "Sleep Technician" at their Barrie location. I didn't have any experience, which was known from my resume. When I applied I asked for the wage. The woman told me itll be $500 a week. When I arrived for the first night of training the woman told me in a pushy way that since SHE is an experienced respiratory therapist with training from the Michener Institute that I WOULDNT be paid, and that I in fact needed to go to an ATM promptly to pay her for training for the week. The woman shamed me then left in a car and went to the ATM where I was going where I felt pressured into drawing out $500. My anxiety was through the roof from the pressure the woman almost made me feel forced into a bad situation. While I did my "training" which was listening to my trainer cus under her breath at clients and barely showing myself any techniques appropriate for the job it was clear as day I was in a shady dark situation. The "techs" failed to do proper sanitization during covid times which I felt was extremely alarming. The next day I contacted the Doctor who owns the sleep clinic to inform him of the pressure and miscommunication of the job. It should of never been advertised on indeed and perhaps offered as a poor training school where you learn what NOT to do as a tech. The Doctor never returned my emails either did his respiratory therapists who took my $500 for a one 8 hour shift and went MIA. This place is shady, dark, and not a place you want to put your trust in while being asleep. Be careful coming here. Its ran by untrustworthy low lifes.
Avoid this place if you can. I will say that the sleep-over was good, the staff were lovely and I felt well treated. However, since then I have not been at all pleased. I was given a list of questions to answer, but the room was so crowded that there was NO privacy and as the questions were very personal, I chose not to answer them. Then the Dr. (If he is one - did not even introduce himself!) was very abrupt. He did not explain any of the test, nor my results - just that I needed a machine. He gave me one option for a place to go. They wanted to charge me money just to walk into the place. No way! I have since heard that the Dr. gets a kick-back. Cannot prove that, but would explain a lot. Then when I had to reschedule my follow-up from my next test, I got the supreme runaround. I had to end up calling Toronto to change the booking. Say what? I made the appointment at the clinic so why are they unable to reschedule? And the woman was really snippy and disrespectful. I only put in one star as the original test was fine, but nothing since. And you have to put in a star or you cannot post. So the short answer is - beware before you go. If you have a choice, go somewhere else!
Very caring and friendly staff! They sure know what they are doing. I felt safe especially during COVID-19. Very good precautions! Would definitely recommend this place! This is my second sleep study here. ????
This clinic is indeed unkept. Wastebasket is bathroom overflowing. One female techinian was really impatient when hooking me up to all the wires. I overheard her speaking with a gal that had come over on the ferry from Christian Island (had to take a ferry to get there), you didn’t call us back to confirm. The client said I called and confirmed and the technician said that’s what they all say. She was sent home. This facility is full 7 days a week with 5 beds. Too busy, understaffed. The head technician that saw to me should take a vacation and maybe never go back to work. I would NEVER go back.
Dont go!!!! I went and got the machine which u have to pay up front for and they took my licence 3 weeks later with zero notice, its a nightmare!!! Nobody replies to your msgs or voicemails i tried to get this sleep device for a month. Believe me do not get caught in this trap
I found the clinic to be ok, the staff was excellent. My 1concern was the washroom it was certainly not set up for handicap patrons. Shortly after I got a call for an appointment with Doc. Elia for 12 noon. I felt that he either had to p or he had a hot date. I am very uncomfortable with the CPAP that he sold me. I find that I get a mouthful of air and have to let it out. I have noticed that during the night I rip the machine off, I don’t realize that I am doing it. I would like to try a different CPAP but don’t know how to go about it or is this gonna cost me me again.
I have just returned home from a night at this "clinic" . The young technician seemed to know what she was doing but with the general condition of the facility it is hard to give it any credibility. The facility was dirty, waste baskets over flowing, No place to take off outdoor shoes,( bring your own slippers, none provided). No place in the room to hang your clothes up, just a chair to put them on. The floor in the room was covered with days of foot wear tracks and dirt, ( almost walked out). No tissues on the bedside table, computer equipment on the floor. The wiring for the sensors looked like a rats nest must be coloured coded as the tech seemed to be able to find both ends (LOL). As part of the process a glue like material is put in your hair ( mine is short and thin) (cant imagine what it would be like for ladies). You could hear other people snoring through the night. I was stressed to the point that it took me hours to get to sleep. I slept from about 4 - 6. They give you one face cloth to clean up with, no towel. Their bathroom as I said is not clean. The public bathrooms down the hall are much better. In short avoid this place, way out of line for a quasi medical facility. I see anyway that I could trust any results that come from this facility.
