they have such rude doctors which one of them just told me to go home when i was in so much pain, but one of lovely emergency nurse gave me some help to get into the car and apologizes for the doctors rudeness i guess the doctor is just a student because she clearly don't know what she's doing.

I haven’t been here but have had to call them to ask a few questions about what services they had available at that day as I needed a blood test. The operator was extremely rude and dismissive and just seemed like they wanted to hang up as soon as they could. I called 811 instead and they were more helpful.

I was treated for Covid-19 related chest pain at emergency a few hours ago. Hospital staff that helped me in the emergency care unit were good, But the front desk persons at the south center entrance tonight were uncivilized and rude. Given my Covid-19 positive status, I agreed to wear the face shield and gloves they asked me to wear ( on top of the medical goggles and mask I already had on....goggles and a mask are sufficient protection in this regard, in case you are not aware...).Even after I had all the proper garb on, the front desk persons proceeded to repeatedly interrupt me as I was trying to arrange for a ride home on my phone. They tried to send me on foot to the train station, knowing very well that I was not feeling well and unable to walk that far. This individual should be ashamed of himself. Please give the front desk people more training on the fact a person wearing proper PPE isn't a danger to those around them. I doubt it is hospital policy to send ill people who are trying to arrange for a ride home away in the cold in the middle of the night.

Delivered my baby here last March. The nurses and doctors were amazing. My son was in NICU for a couple days and the nurses were so awesome and helpful. All the nurses and doctors were very friendly.

I do not like this place. I waited 6-7 hours there and they kept saying "i'll be right back" and then come back 1 hour later only to leave once more. I sprained my finger and they put buddy tape on my finger. No instruction, and they didn't even tell me how long I was supposed to keep it on for. I don't know if I can get it wet, or if it falls off where to get more or what to do. They just said "keep the tape on" I don't know what to do with finger. It definitely wasn't worth it.

Today I went to the hospital and first I had blood test and after one hr one of the counsellor call me inside the room asked me some question about me and my partner and she was very good in counseling she explained me each and everything this is my first pragnancy abortion and after that nurse call me to know my medical history and then she gave me medication to eat after that she told me go for pee before abortion and then she told me to go to surgery room and then they gave anesthesia and I slept and my surgery was done when I woke up it was so fast and I woke up they gave me biscuits with water and after that they told me to leave . It was very very good experience for me first time when I came back I have little bit cramp in my stomach I ate Advil and I was ok . Doctor and nurses are very educated and staff is cooperative and counsellor is very very help ful for me to understand this new thing. So I will give them 5/5. They did Excellent job????

Monday about 8am 13th December I was suddenly in the most unbearable pain. I was near strathmore which has a small hospital. My son decided to deliver me to the Lougheed. I was pretty sure that I had a kidney stone, as the pain was 10 x worse than unmedicated labour. At Lougheed hospital I had to wait, screaming in pain, for about an hour before getting into the hospital. The triage nurse said I had to wait my turn like everyone else. I told them that the pain was unbearable. To no avail. By the time I got past triage I was in shock from the pain, shaking and nearly fainting. The pain was a large kidney stone wedged between my kidney and my bladder. Care was great after the disgusting triage. I would not want any other kidney stone patient to go through what I went through at Lougheed triage.

Was there for 8 hours should have been less, but tge staff had to put up with my negative self so still pretty good. And they fast tracked my scope

I checked into the PLC ER a few days ago after experiencing severe pain in my rib cage and having shortness of breath. I was prepared to have to wait for hours because I knew my condition wasn't life threatening, but I was there for about 4 hours total. It is stressful going to a hospital during a pandemic, but there are numerous precautions (everyone was masked, there was hand sanitizer everywhere) in place and I felt very safe. The staff were courteous and thorough and after my tests and Xray came back it was a relief to know that there was nothing medically wrong with me and that the pain was a muscular or inflammation issue. I'm very pleased with the care that I received and I'm happy to report that the pain has significantly subsided and my breathing is almost back to normal.

Worst hospital ever. Sat here for 10 hours 3.5 in the waiting room and the rest in a bed in minor treatment. Had to get an abscess removed from my leg and it took forever for the doctor to see me. That's Fine but After the procedure they didn't give me any painkillers, didn't get to talk to the doctor about cleaning the wound or what happened, didn't offer a doctors note just told me "good luck" and sent me home. Worst doctors and nurses I've ever seen all you can here is them gossiping. They don't give a damn about their patients. Sent me home feeling the same pain I did when I got there.

I love Tea

I was waiting there to see my dad who had a stroke and I kept getting harnessed by the very rude security asking who I am waiting for, as if I wanted to be in the waiting room or like I was lying. They seem like they are on a power trip

Majel Lefthand

My mom just went in with ems due to a severe migraine. She suffered 3 long hours in the waiting room she didnt see anyone .. She couldnt sit in there because of the light.. So she left .... Id say the worst experience she had.. Do better please

the nursing staff on the psych unit 37 were medioker and doctor maybob nabob or what ever the hell his name is shouldnt have a licence to walk a dog nevermind have any type of athority or decision making abilities over human beings in crisis who are and have been seeking help due to depression anxoity stress and multiple suicide attempts. this man and his staff should be investigated to the full extent of the law and their ability to revoke his and their licences to pratice any type of programs that directly affect a person or their future well being. I was treated like i was less important than an animal being sent to slaughter, i was and still am suicidal, more likely to try to commit or attempt suicide again because how this doctor made fun of me, and his sarcastic way of making me feel worse about myself and my situation than when i had arrived. i strongly advise anyone going to this center or any clinic or hospital where he is the psych doctor on staff to second think this as the likely hood of you feeling worse or not getting any help then getting discharged will likely be your solution in this mans opinion likely. i had attempted suicide 10 times prior to meeting this man and i was in his care 72 hours and within the first 12 hours i was already planning my next attempted suicide. i was never asked anything and i was compaired to the grinch who stole christmas and told that the meaning to life was relationships, and that it wasnt to late because im not terminally sick yet or that they know of. In my opinion i was better off overdosing on fentynal and heroin than to have this mans words ringing in my ears still, i strongly belive the actions of this doctor has set me back years due to his pathetic attempt to make my short comings or my problems the center of his poorly choosen joke on me. When will the world see mental illness as a real struggle and a serious problem that shouldnt be handled by jokes or humor in any fashion. Im severely humiliated, insulted, and was further traumatized. aparently there is a legal form of harassment and instilling fear in the high risk mentally ill by following them making them feel cornered, like an animal, again the mentally ill being treated like livestock, and this further causes mistrust paranoia among many other issues that prevent us mentally ill from getting better they justy make us worse to justify what that they are bullies, they are pretending to help when they damn well know they are causing the oppisite result mthat they report. My family is involved in this bullying and manipulating and my mother has been in health care the oover seeing of the well being of our continuing care seniors, now i question my entire family and no longer trust any of them not one single family member has told me why they permit this traumitizing program to continue even after i overdosed 34 times on heroin and fentynal because i was unable to psychologically accept or belive what was happening to me and everytime i asked they would deny it was going on them my family saying it was all in my head im seeing or hearing things this is abuse in its purest form no i cannot belive or truust anyone thanks to our systyem and my family that obviously hates m,e and wants me to commit suicide otherwise why do this follow me spreading lies in the community out rite putting my life in danger, and my family and this specialized mental health team posing as crime groups or other senarios that are used to instill fear in to me. thanks for the help, if i end up commiting suicide or i get killed you know who to charge with my death or my disappearance but then again if they have gotten away with this for 3 plus years that means our city police and RCMP are all involved. I strongly think someone needs to seriously investigate this how many have been pushed to far and are dead? how many more are to come ? trust me they arent helping, whats it going to take one of your family, mom, dad, brother, sister ect to disappear or be traumatized beyond help???????????? THINK ALBERTA HOW CAN YOU ALL WATCH?????????

Worse emergency check-in recommend not to come here maybe go to South. Lot of staff talking to eachother and time pass with each other rather then act fast.

Dawn Smith

My 2and visit to the ER in the last month. My only suggestion is to ensure ER patients have a safe walk back to their car in the west parking lot since we can't walk through the hospital. The sidewalks at 1am were snow covered.

Kal Lbaz

Emergency service suck, total indifference to poeple's pain, they sit behing their little glass counter cracking office jokes and wasting time on our tax money, while people need immidiate assistance. We as a nation brag about our fancy and execptional health system, but the truth is most of our hospitals are mediocre. These hospitals are filled with bureaucrates not healthcare professionals.

Colleen Kastan

HORRIBLE!!! This hospital staff does not know their left hand from their right hand! My sister had major foot surgery and was in extreme pain from the time she came out of anethesia until they sent her home hopped up on morphine before the pain was out of control Her resident didn't even know she was on Tylenol told her he couldn't release her until the pain was under control and wanted to set her up with morphine every 3 hours. Instead the nurse came in gave her a shot and sent her home! This is unacceptable care and I will be filing legal action against this hostpital negligence! DO NOT trust your loved ones helat and well being to this disfunctional institution!

Eugene Kowch

They saved my life. Five Stars all around.

Prince OG

Had our first newborn in here the nurses did an amazing job Really happy with the service Thank you ????

N. Meyer

All the doctors, nurses and support staff were exceptional. They made me feel cared for with their kindness and professionalism.

Ryley Cooke

Great staff but what a fricken joke for parking! It’s never been so hard to leave a parking lot in my life! Get it together Peter Lougheed!

Christian Roxas

The facility is pretty well kept. Some of the staff were nice, some where not.

Breanne Imeson

I had a very mixed experience delivering my baby here last summer. My care during my induction was great, my delivery staff was great, but my postpartum care left a lot to be desired. I received zero, and I mean ZERO, support with breastfeeding. I requested a lactation consultant the second we had to give my daughter formula (dropping sugar levels) but was told repeatedly over the next two days that, “It is the weekend and no one is available.” NOT having that support was rough. Every time my daughter was hungry the nurses would say to try and feed her but if you can’t in 5 minutes they will be back with a bottle.

ASHISH KOHLI

First time came here brought my wife at 6 am she had lower back pain could not sleep . She waited for 3 hours no doctor seen her. Same case in BC . Oh Canada this is not we expected from you. Big shame to emergency service. ????

Jayme Armstrong

Absolutely horrible. They don't care about children, young moms or mental health what so ever. They just say you or your child is fine after hours on end of waiting

Z NYFB

Broke my femur in 3 spots and came by ambulance...ER staff were amazing, social worker helped me navigate my way through many things( incredible lady❤). Dr. KUBIK put me back together and the staff on unit 52 were more than just nurses, OT and Physio. These folks gave that extra to make me feel less alone and scared. I cannot say enough about them.

John Joseph Dycoco

I called patient location today and the person who I spoke to was very rude. Two of them hang up on me while I was still talking, asking me to spell the name of the patient I was looking for. I am very disappointed that my emergency call was just for nothing. I hope this does not happen to them.

Talal Arshad

After reading all the reviews here, I still decided to visit as it was close to my house and all I can say is, they live up to their reputation

Balvinder Kaur

We were there for the delivery of my first baby. Everything was good until the second nurse came which was also pregnant. As a result, I had to push and do pretty much all by myself including lifting myself up. They should not have pregnant nurses in the delivery room alone by themselves to assist in delivery. As a result, after 4 hours of pushing, they had to vaccum out the baby. Postpartum care was good. Thanks to God me and my baby we are healing good.

April 25th, my mother wakes up with body aches, bit of fever that went away shortly after and vomiting, after she had left the window open all night. We rush her into Peter Lougheed EMR at 12:30pm. We walk in to a lady who seemed like she just hated her life. I tell her what's wrong and immediately ROLLS HER EYES AT ME! As if I don’t have enough to deal with so I tell her that she shouldn’t be worried cause it isn’t covid since we had it about 4 months ago. I speak to another lady who asked me few questions then told me that they will bring someone who can translate for her. About 2 1/2 hours later, my mom facetimes me in a bed saying that they’re running some tests on her. 4pm she calls to tell us to go back home as she’ll be there for longer time since they aren’t done yet!. 5:30 I get a call from her begging me not to let them make her stay there because that’s what she was told! I could almost hear her crying for help because she was just terrified! In her own words “I wasn’t feeling this sick but now they made me sicker”. I freak out so I ask her to speak to her doctor. I get to speak to her nurse and explain to her what’s going on. She nicely tells me that it isn’t up to her. I get a hold of her doctor who right away tells me that my mother has the risk of dying as the virus could have caused some damage to her heart! Keep in mind that we took her there for body ache and vomit. I’m just shocked because my mother is talking to me just fine! The “great” doctor proceeds to say that they ran a covid test on her because she might have it again! “Of course as if there is no other diseases left in the world". I repeatedly told her that she does not want to stay there when she kept repeating that “she may not survive” what a great way to assure the patient’s family. She tells me that “oh your mother wants to stay she just told me she’s shaking her head at me” and I clearly hear my mother saying “no I don’t want to stay”. I asked if she could run all the tests required ASAP and she tells me that won't work and if she wants to leave it’ll be at her own risk because she could DIE and WON'T SURVIVE!. My mother's been there for 5+ hours no food popping pills they gave her. They filled exactly 8 blood containers 4 small 4 big off of her!. I tell her not to take anything they give her, that’s when she tells me that they gave her a blue pill. I ask her to ask the “great” doctor to write its name down. I google the pill: Doxycycline used to treat bacterial infections such as acne, urinary tract infection, intestinal infection, respiratory infection, eye infection, gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, periodontitis. 6pm I pick her up looking pale and tired. She tells me that there was more than one doctor testing her. One of them looks at her heart diagram and assures my mom that it looks normal. The “great” doctor comes in thinking that my mom doesn’t understand English at all, looks at it and says that it doesn’t look normal. At that point the other doctor says that it does look normal and that’s when in my mother’s own words “I squeezed her hand because she was saying that it looks normal and felt a relief because I’m not going to die”. My mother was told that if there’s anything “serious” with her tests, they will call her back! Today is Tuesday and we didn’t get a call from them after the “great” doctor told me that my mother will not survive. We take her to our family doctor who looks at all the tests they ran on her in the hospital and tells her nothing is wrong with her. Her heart is ok, covid test was NEGATIVE. All she has is a right lung bronchitis due to the cold she got. It’s 2021 people aren’t dumb! We trust our lives to doctors who use patients as their “testing animals”! If she didn’t matter to you then she matters to her family. You treated her as if she was a rat to run tests on, take so much blood out of her, and give her pills that had nothing to do with what she had! I have attached the “great” doctor’s name is on it!

Edit Jan 2020 ER Staff favour personal conversation and doddling around rather than tending to the patients who wait hours to be seen. Maybe leave the personal conversations on your break and your wait times won't be 9 hours. Went to the ER few weeks ago due to sever Gallbladder attack. They gave me nothing for the pain, and told it'd be a 2 hour wait.... 3 hours later I get an IV and told to sit in the waiting room until there was a room available. Another hour later I am seen by Dr. Kenney who basically was like "Yeah see the specialist you seen 3 years ago I'll print a referral" , THEN he forgets about me. 20 minutes later I hear him in the other room talking to someone about their issues, without him even coming back to finish up, lol. I don't think these people realize how debilitating a gallbladder attack can be!! If they had people who weren't so forgettable there would be more rooms available for all the people waiting. I was needlessly sitting in the room for 20-30 minutes waiting for 2 pieces of paper >_<. I could have had those 2 seconds after he said BRB and someone else could have been in that room! Not only that, but I said to him "I'm not sure if I'm supposed to stay in here or not.... did you forget about me?" And he said "I might have". Thanks. Now fast forward 2 weeks I am suffering from a BACTERIAL INFECTION that I have been fighting for nearly a week. I went to the ER for one thing, and left with something WORSE. I have nasty spots all over my body that are so painful and itchy. I asked my doctor where I could have picked it up and he said probably the ER, lol. I think I've learned my lesson that I will bare the pain instead of setting foot in that ER again. So not worth the wait!!!

The absolute worst meals obviously their cooks have never had any training. You'd get better food from the local dumpster.

I would like to start off by saying that I delivered both of my children at PLC and their maternity unit was very good. My review is strictly involving the emergency department. My experience was something that i will never be able to forget. I was 18 weeks pregnant when I became deathly ill, I had a fever, I was vomiting and i could barely stand up. I went to may family doctor who told me that I needed to go for an emergency ultrasound that same day and directed me to go to emerg because they would be able to perform one same day. When i showed up the triage nurses were downright rude and disrespectful and told me that I would be waiting all day and that my dr. Should have never told me to come. At this point i was visably ill and informed them I was pregnant and i was worried about the baby...their response..."if you miscarry there is nothing we can do" um what?!!! I understand that they cant prevent a miscarriage but how about some compassion!!! At this point I was in tears and sooooo sick that i just wanted to go home. I really felt like nobody there cared about me in anyway. Fast forward to the next night...my worst fear was confirmed, my baby had died and was causing me to become very ill. My water eneded up breaking and my husband and I rushed back to emerg. Well another "wonderful" nurse was at triage and when we had said that my water broke and i was 18 weeks pregnant, she said "that doesnt sound correct" and proceeded to take out an expectancy chart to confirm. Yaaaaa no i think i knew!!! They didnt even bother bringing me into the back, instead i had to sit in the waiting room crying, bleeding and losing my baby infront of total strangers. Finally my husband caused a bit if a scene and they took us back. The doctor came and did the exam, asked if we were excited to be parents then told us we lost the baby. We asked what the sex was and he said it was too early to tell and walked out of the room while telling us to "have a good night". Now the final part of this god awful experience...while my husband was reading my chart that they had accidentally left in the room with us, we discovered that the nurses completley lied! They stated that they asked us what we wanted to do and asked if we needed additional support or if we wanted ro talk to someone about after care of our baby, they claimed our response was "nope we are fine" NO ONE ASKED US ANYTHING!!! we didnt even get a simple "sorry for your loss" We lost it at this point and eventually someone came to speak with us. Our baby was a developing baby, i was almost 5 months pregnant. If we hadnt opened my chart we would have walked out of that hospital without any closure and no idea that there were options available to us but instead we were able to have our baby cremated and home with us. Ohhh and to the doctor who said it was too early to tell the sex, ya the funeral home told us we were having a boy and let us know that it was very obvious!! So thanks for that doc!!! I know this was a terribly long post and believe it or not some details were actually left out but this was an experience that will never be forgotten and in the worst way possible. Bottom line...the emergency department staff at PLC really need to work on a more compassionate approach especially towards women who are going through something as tramatic as losing a child.

Celine Sajan

The staff in the ER are incredibly rude. I understand that they must have had a long night but they don't need to shut out others trying to help. The doctors are alright, they seem to rush as soon as they get a patient.... like we waited 2 hours for this? I wish north east calgary would have more emergency options in the middle of the night.

Erica Bonsai

If I could rate in negative stars I would. In less than 72 hours this joke of a hospital has managed to deny patient rights, neglect human rights (food and water isn't too much to ask these days is it?) wrongfully detain a patient, and when asked for their names doctors and nurses will scoff at you like you're a complete and utter invalid. For a "mental health concern" the staff sure has a way of making things worse. If you would like to lose your job, your home, and your sanity this is the place to go. All for the low low price of your dignity and human rights as a Canadian. Who cares about the Charter Rights? Certainly not a soul who works here, I shouldnt say that though becahse all of the heartless robots here lack souls. Lack empathy. Lack compassion. I could go on for the rest of the night about the lies and denials the lackeys, I mean staff, here have put me and my family through but I'd suggest checking it out for yourself. Get the full 3rd world country experience only at the Peter Lougheed. Where you don't matter.

Dennis Tucker

Mental health services is important

My sister had a major surgery and I took her in. Every staff member we dealt with, including reception, nurses and the surgeon were friendly, compassionate and professional. She did not feel pushed out of the door the next day, which is not always the case in our health care system. The surgeon called a week later to check in. Totally impressed.

Teresa Theriault

No words can describe the insulting experience I've had at this place. Hope the Administrator of PLC is acknowledging these reviews!!! The only reason I gave it a star, is to be able to do the review.. Like someone else said, this place doesn't deserve any stars!!

Shea Watts

Worst hospital in Calgary the staff is rude and do not care about people's health they are just there for the money. I know this from a 13 year history with them as I have endometriosis and instead of helping fix the problem they are disrespectful and rude. They either treat you like a drug addict or a std victim like really how about stop being judgemental and jumping to conclusions and start being caring for your patients. I've lost all hope in the medical system I rather live in the states n pay 50,000 for my medical care then be surrounded by Medical staff that don't care!!

robyn ashmore

Spent some time in emergency many time over the years, staff is always above and beyond. Was recently in Emergency for chest pain and my nurse Nikki was AMAZING. Dr was fantastic and staying for 4 hours really wasn't so bad . Thank you to all Drs and Nurses out there for everything you do, especially at the Lougheed for putting up with me ????????????????

Michele Morin

Refused at the door because I had my son (who was wearing a mask) for a very important appointment and recovery was delayed 6+ weeks. Kinda harsh despite the lack of child care right now you'd think they'd be marginally understanding.

Michelle Isaak

Went there for Safe Works supplies, and they let me down, big time. Handed me a Narcan kit, telling me that there's needles in there... as if I'm actually dumb enough to smash with a narcan needle... Wow. Peter Lougheed you've reached a new low.

George Huggan

The nurses and surgical team were awesome, friendly and professional.

Kevin T

I was in emergency last week and my lower back pretty bad can’t walk can’t seat and having a sharp pain and the doctor just gave me a proscription pain killer and send me home he said that to do more exercises and strength And I told him I can’t even walk and seat how am I supposed to exercise and he said it will go away in three days but is more than a week the pain still there !!!! What a that lazy doctor.. And it’s been a week waiting for my family doctor to call me but they didn’t And Pedialyte didn’t send any information that I was in the emergency

David Williams

Most of the staff is great. But don't ask to go out and smoke. If you have had major surgery or just had you foot cut off. They will cut your pain meds back. They did the same to my wife. Now watch. They will read this and do it again. Only this time I will be able to prove it. Then Global can let the city know how things behind the scene work.

Charlotte Forbes

Thanks for the help and for the effective medical services offered. I, a recently released inpatient patient of Peter Lougheed Centre, am profoundly grateful for the supports I received through my efforts to regain my health.

Brianne Walker

Probably one of the most uninviting experiences of psychiatric treatment facilities I have ever been in...... PLC is truly the remand of psychiatric units in Calgary. I've suffered with mental illness my whole life, I understand where there is need for rules and regulations and restrictions, however, the way the units are run, specifically unit 25 and 27 are horrible.. Being diagnosed with several illnesses and having to suffer more during my stays here has been so difficult to recover from. I hope one day the units won't feel like prison, and more like a home to those who also suffer.

Bob Burgers

3 hours in a room with not a single person checking on me. I could be dead, they'd never know. Finally found someone to say I'm leaving and was forced back into a room saying I'm next. They said that 3 hours ago. I have a 7 year old at home with a babysitter wanting to leave. They won't let me leave. Gave me a "we're busy" story. If they are so busy why are there nurses standing around laughing and having a gossip session? Maybe one of them should check on people?

Neil Bromley

I have to be here every three months and the staff are always kind, considerate, helpful, cannot fault these people!

Will Kwan

Maternity ward, pediatrics and postpartum are excellent. Friendly, compassionate nurses and doctors on staff. Thank you for everything!

Remy Guay

The doctors and nurses, have absolutely no respect for all that we have done for them so far. Yes the help us to stay alive and healthy, when day do the real job we pay them for. The new generation of doctors and nurses have absolutely no respect for all that as been done for them. - we built their work place. - we deliver their equipment - we serves them their coffee - we built their the roads - we cut the grass - we cook - we do a lot more then just not taking care well of society like they’re doing now. But hey, doctors and nurses, your welcome. After all, we are just the society who are making your life possible.

Leslie Arseneault

Chest pains. Been sitting out here for 3 hours now. Asked how many people ahead. 11. They said young people don't get chest pains basically.

Donna Collier

I think people often come to the hospital when they could go to their doctor or a clinic. Then demand to be seen in front of a patient that had a serious thing happening. That's why they have a sign that advises people it is not first come first served. So we get upset with the nurses and other staff when it's our responsibility for going there in the first place. Before you leave your house know you will have to wait unless you are having something really bad ????

dake_balo

Horrible experience!!! So we went to this hospital at 10:00 p.m because i accidentally cut my finger. now we waited 4-5 hrs for them ti stitch it!!! I WOULD DIE BECAUSE OF BLEEDING!!! NURSES ARE DO VERY LOUSY!!! definitely will not recommend

Sunny Wellington

Have been admitted here, and I have also come for out-patient procedures. Prefer to park/enter at West entrance. Wheelchairs, ATM, parking pay machines, flower shop, gift shop and a Second Cup are located just inside. The hospital is older and a bit outdated in places. However it is kept very clean. Overnight in Emergency was hectic but the nurses were fabulous. Upstair’s was quieter and well-equipped, with great staff. Cafeteria has sandwiches, fish and chips... with some tasty additions (samosas, kebab pita etc). The numerous volunteers in red are great and the patient food services displays a special care. If coming in at Emergency, make sure to tell the triage desk if your condition worsens.

Sabrina Clark

Hands down best hospital I've ever been treated at.. The nurses and Drs bedside manor is absolutely outstanding. Every nurse and Dr I encountered were friendly, and professional. Many other hospitals could take notes!

Evie Guard

Hospital staff was very good during my husbands stay. As someone who worked as a housekeeper there 15 years ago, I am totally disgusted with the way housekeeping is there now. My husband was there just recently for a week and NOT ONCE did he have housekeeping go into his room to clean. Absolutely unacceptable!!!

Saini Saini

Im in very bad pain from last 3 years, and now it’s getting worse day by day. went to emergency 2 time and wasted my time there But they only say it’s normal, This Bladder pain is killing me

I’m been here since 10:30pm I didn’t get into minor treatment till 2:30am. Its now 3:30am and I still haven’t seen a doctor yet, I’m very disappointed and tired. I honestly just want to go home and it’s also very cold in this hospital

Rahul Parakkat

Great doctors and great staff. Thank you for all help, care and support.

Blaec Smythe

After showing up at 3am with an emergency and being asked to wait for a few hours, regular hospital garbage, I proceeded to wait while my significant other went into emergency. After being there til 6am, I was met with unproffessional staff, it's not hard when someone says hey there, to say "hey can you give me a minute" no instead I was met with we're busy sir, for a public service where all their income is from tax dollars from people like me and my SO you might think someone in the industry of helping people might be a little more friendly and professional but no, thanks for being absolutely useless alberta health care, you and you're useless staff.

Memphis Tokar

was born here, the last epic gamer moment to happen to this establishment

Feedback for the ER doctor who saw me this morning... Going in for a Pulmonary episode as my inhalers were not working (Asthma, COPD, and allergies)... For some reason part of my discharge plan was for me to see my therapist rather than refer me to an allergist or a lung specialist? ???? This is deeply innapropriate and offensive. Just because I have a mental health issue on file does not mean it's okay to disregard what I came in for, especially when my mental health is completely irrelevant to what I needed help with. While I appreciate the lung x-ray and the chance to get out of the house that was causing the Asthma attack for a couple of hours; I don't appreciate the advice I was given as it was demeaning, it's also unhelpful to tell me not to rely on my inhalers, and the lack of an action plan puts me at risk for coming back in worse shape the next attack I have. These are not hard things to figure out. Do a google.

Susan Welch

My daughter went in for Day surgery. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We were treated with respect and kindness. A staff member named Denae was patient and compassionate. ???? Thanks for the great care.

Mario Echevarrieta

Came in last Sunday for what I thought to be ulcer pain or reflux, but from my description of the pain and several exams later (that obviously takes time) the diagnosis was gallstones, and they were starting an infection in my gallbladder. Only solution surgery, the surgeon wouldn't let me go home, they sent me to a room and put my surgery on call for the next day, 11:11 a.m. (magical number by the way) the nurse tells me I'm going to the OR, at 4 pm I open my eyes I was done. Dr. Debru and his team did a fantastic job, literally saving my life in a blink of an eye. Everybody, and I mean it, has been nice to me, I have nothing but gratitude for the great people that work here.

Internally Influenced

Staff have no incentive to be friendly or helpful, especially via phone conversations, but what do you expect when they monopolizes the health care industry through tax payers dollars. My personal experience with one therapist was exceptional! This systems fails Canadian's on a daily basis.

Jen M

Long wait in the ER which is per usual. Nurses were nice.

Igor Gincher

Got here @10PM with my father to emergency 4:30 AM haven't seen a doctor yet. Shame on this place! Emergency doesn't have a meaning here!

Shamiran Issavi

Worst experience ever. Went to visit, paid for parking and yet a parking ticket was issued for $50.00. So what is the point? This is not right. Parking Patrol should stop issuing tickets just because they feel like it.

Rita Bhattacherjee

I recently had surgery at the Peter Lauheed and the care I received was excellent. Also they did a fantastic job with refering me to a specialist who treated me before my surgery.

Muyiwa Taiwo

I was always of the opinion that medical profession was calling, that doctors and nurses care about their patients but I watched my wife get treated like a vehicle by mechanics(the maternity staff at PLC). My experience at PLC and the treatment from the staff was straight up terrible.(I won't give any names) Please if you can afford not to go the PLC, go to a different location. I just kept thinking about the research showing that black women get ignored in hospitals and I think it might be true. My wife was bleeding heavily and they said it was spot bleeding. Attached are pictures from the clots of bloods that came out of her and they called it spot bleeding. Someone please have them investigated. To be fair, there were 3 nurses and our OBGYN (Dr Ekwalanga) who were fantastic and I am forever grateful to them but the rest were just terrible and unhelpful.

Shiva

Emergency is good for nothing. They don’t care you just a baby few days ago or have stitches for vaginal delivery. Appx wait time was 2hour 30 mins and we spent over 5 hours checked in at 9 pm seen doctor at 2 am.

Ben Zimmerman

Don't need to say much. Worst hospital in Calgary. Had a doctor in emergency with attitude. I had 6 simple questions before I left about my infected foot. She had a bad attitude from the start and was rushing me. I am a concerned individual. I work in sales and customer service and this women does not know how to satisfy her patients or give pleasant or concerning service.

Malissa Hayes

Bed side manors are horrible. The emergency dr tonight assumes you are a drug addict if you smoke pot for chronic pain. And you will probably die before they actually know what is wrong with you.

gunwantsingh sandhu

We broght our kid to this hospital she is only 1 1/2 year old.they said they will take the kid as a concern. But who ever came after us they took them in. Stupidist and rediculus service my wife is waiting for 10 hours and still waiting with a kid who is pain and can’t lift her arm and can’t sleep. Please never ever bring your kids here. I don’t like this discrimination. And they never tell the correct time of wait. Please take your kids to children or any other hoapital who actually concer about kids or unless in this long period of time who is critical and they might someone else ia more important than and then you might end up dying here.

Gazi Salahuddin

Very bad experience, went there with my mom. Nurse poked my mom for IV twice and failed each time causing her bleeding. Sometimes missing vein is not abnormal, but the way she was poking, showed her immaturity and recklessness . Being a medical person I noticed her approach! I asked her name while leaving though I don't want to expose publicly.

Dave lee

I waited 7 hours to get discharged after the doctor has given the OK to go home, was in post partam....incompetent nurses, very rude and didn't give a S**t about us,left me and my family sitting there waiting for hours! Our nurse told me it wasn't hers call to discharge us, but after I complained for the 3rd time she came in to do the discharge witch took 5 mins of her time..WHAT JOKE!!!

Emilie Tatlock

The nurses in emergency are rude and disrespectful. My boyfriend came up cover in blood, and they asked "what?"...

yd75

Did day surgery Went through 5 nurses, they were caring and helpful. Lots of safety precautions and they tell you everything you need to know. Clean hospital and knowledgeable staff.

Mildred Malone

Over-worked, abrupt, impatient staff with almost every experience I've had here, with the exception of the labour and delivery ward. I find the emergency staff, in particular, are quick to discharge, often prematurely and with consequences to the patient. However, it seems though that most hospitals operate in this fashion these days.

Camile Hu

I bring my two year old son on this hospital he has a fever, cold and a really bad cough for 3 days and not eating anything at all, by the way my son had a history of pneumonia last year that's why really worried about him . We waited for almost 3 hours in the emergency with lots of sick adult people, they should check a kid first right! the doctor came and ask us what's going on and he just said continue giving Tylenol to your son and that's it nothing else. They didn't do any test to my son or even put dextrose so he will not get dehydrated nothing. We waited long time and the doctor will just say like that. Please don't let your patients wait like crazy!

Nabin Limbu

My baby was born in this hospital. All levels of staffs are awesome.

Luxury

Very slow did not follow protocol for checking in patients. Never reassess their patients.

Forged Evil

Absolutely ridiculous. I went into the ER because my rib was popped out about an inch more than it should ever be, and they said there was 'nothing wrong with it'. They did not suggest an X-ray, they did not offer any prescription to mellow the pain, or the pressure. They just sent me on my way. I showed them a picture of a really bad allergic reaction I had and all they said was to pick up some over the counter allergy pills. Oh, and I waited for 4 hours with a waiting time of only 1 hour. Avoid this garbage if you're seriously there for an emergency - chances are they aren't going to help you and you'll be worse off or dead.

arthur sava (Arthur)

Unfortunately I had to visit this place, but what a great experience. Wow. Had a bad sprained leg during Calgary stampede. The nurses and doctors had a cowboy theme during that week loved it.

SandyTrannn

Worst hospital ever, Most staff is so rude in emergency and maternity and uncaring never would i ever want to come back to this hospital, staff should be trained on how to treat patients.

peter ivanek

Worst hospital in Calgary, rudest most ignorant staff I ever seen in my life I don't know how these people have a job, especially "Kathleen in admitting" is one of the rudest, I don't know how she has a job!! Please put her in some kind of program where she learns to respond to a question because she can't stop talking about her vacation in BC wat a joke , please fire her,!!

Darius Shirmohammadi

my moms dad is staying at Peter Lougheed Centre and the sevice is good he is staying because he has ALS disease

Carlos Perdomo

Customer service sucks! Extremely rude.

Henny Thugger

What kind of a stupid nurse would talk about a patient in a bad way when he's suffering pain from a shoulder injury? Tammy.

Jean-Mathieu Brassard

Just went through a few days there for my wife to give birth. Very disappointed to see how service quality has gone down since our first baby 4 years ago. The nurse that came to "inspect" our home also took some bad decisions that caused alot of stress on my wife who had to stay 8 hrs in ER for nothing.

Samarth Kapoor

If you waana die go this hospital. In emergency nurse Kavita at check in was busy telling about her boy to other nurses rather in taking the patient and doing her job. Patients with extreme pain was given tylenol and told to wait for 4 and half hours. Nurse should work rather chit chatting with each other and let the patient die. We need better nurses and efficient nurses.

Yhtac Blessing

Hi..!I just wanna say thank you so much to all the nurses and doctors who taking care of us and did their best for me and our baby during my delivery last nov.20,2019.nurse omayma, Tantiana, shantal, kathy and everyone else who's very nice and kind to us..thank you guys..you're so great..God bless.!the hospital also is clean...

andrew Hoard

This is a bit of a funny hospital; the Doctor care is amazing and some of the best I ever had with the exception of the cast clinic. The nursing staff is the worst I have ever scene. I was admitted to PLC for a torn bicep and compartment syndrome Oct. 31/2014. The nurses took a long time to see me. I was admitted to minor treatment and received very poor care. I had a blood sample taken from me and I was covered in my own blood and not cleaned up at all. My girlfriend who was with me cleaned me up. The nursing staff was eating in front of patients and not attending to them or myself when I asked for a barf bucket and puked on the floor from nausea. The Doctor was excellent and had the nurses disrespect him in front of patients; I felt bad for the fellow. The doctor asked the nurse if she could hold a child's arm while he casted it up. Her response was, "I don't do casts, that's not my job" loud enough for me to hear and everyone else and continued eating and texting. I got a ct scan, and an MRI very quickly, and ended up on unit 23 for pre-surgery and post surgery. Unit 23 is EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL and NEGLECTFUL. Nurses Helana, and Helaana were something else... I had gotten out of surgery and was on heavy morphine and was nauseous from it. I hit the call button for a barf bucket and gravol because I am not used to being on such high amount of drugs. It took over 40 minutes for her to come see me and when she finally came in the room and asked, "What do you want!?" I barfed on her shoes. My girlfriend came in just at that moment and though the site was comical, the nurse left the vomit there on the floor for some time. My girlfriend asked for a mop and bucket and cleaned it herself some 20 minutes later. The cast clinic was about the same as I was treated by a blond resident who prescribed me an anti-biotic I was allergic to and got my name and DOB wrong. Good thing I read my script and got my GP to get me amoxicillan. Dr. Le and his team are the best! The nurses and support staff have major short comings.

Sherif Mohamed

Worst hospital in Calgary! Staff members are very rude, and very impatience. They have no idea how to treat patience. More often then non many people ended up transporting patience to other hospitals like Rockyview and or the foothills. 10 hours now waiting and we didn't finish yet

yes

Every time I come here it’s complete hell, staff just talk about their personal lives and just disregard patients. This is the closest hospital for most people in Calgary and I understand that but an average wait time of 7+ hours is absurd. The time management and pace of the environment/employees is bad. Some say I am still waiting to this day.

William Lauzon

People have low expectations of this hospital, for the NE when you have an emergency or need a surgery this hospital will make it happen. I dealt with language barriers with the staff here and experienced some very cranky nurses, though some nurses were truly caring and helpful and the reaon I gave 4 Stars. If you or a relative are staying here I highly recommended that if you have an allergy, food intolerance or religious preference make sure your meal is correct before consuming it.

Nicholas Butters

Most of the staff were kind and helpful. Couple nurses were rude

Suhel Malhotra

PLC Postpartum department is extremely rude, we wouldn't recommend anyone. They Need BETTER customer service skills! not sharing information with family members is utmost rude. Staff is impatient, expect you to be good to go in 24 hrs. also rudely said do it yourself, we are short staff!!!

John Gallant

I was a patient on May 16th I was in Emergency and then transferred to CCU. I cannot say enough about the Nurses Doctors etc.everyone was beyond excellent in every way !!!! The hospital was very clean and even the hospital food wasn't half bad. The treatment I received was superb and everyone was very kind and caring.....Mary Gallant. ........Airdrie

Kay Ak

I was at the Emergency recently, I was in need of medical attention, but nothing was done for over 2 hours, besides vital signs and history taking. I was so confused, felt unimportant and neglected. Although the nurse was kind, and apologetic that the doctor wa busy with another patient. When I could no longer stand the wait time, almost 3 hours, I changed back into my clothes and was ready to leave, before the doctor showed up, apologized and attended to me. Overall, I had a nice 3 day stay at the hospital. The staff were friendly, helpful and kind. However, they can improve on their services and decrease patient wait time.

Catherine Jarvis

My mother had been dealing with a brain tumor for over 16 yrs., over the years drugs have caused complications with leg swelling which has caused weakness in walking. This day my mother had a bad fall from the weakness. She hit her leg, arm and her head badly. She was rushed in by ambulance to the Peter Lougheed Hospital, and they said they thoroughly looked her over, and saw a blood clot had formed in her leg. Mentally, she seemed perfectly normal, talking, moving around just sore where she had fallen. They immediately proceeded to give her blood thinners for the clot, but....they neglected to check the bad hit to her head, which caused a fracture and hemorrhage. Within a day of blood thinners, she went downhill, only to do a MRI and see that she had fractured her head and the blood thinners had made the hemorrhage swell into her brain, and within a few days she had passed away a horrible painful death. The staff were amazing, but the negligence of the proper treatment of a 86 year old woman was unforgettable and unforgivable. I would not recommend this hospital as my first choice.

Marc Andel

Went here tuesday afternoon in emergency waited for 7 hours Doctor and nurses are horrible specially the doctor.. will not comeback here!!..

Belal Uddin

Staff are very rude. My sister was crying and they just left to answer a phone comes after 10 mins to check my sister. As well as doctor doesn't let my mom to stay for blood test when my sister wants her to stay. In past doctors let you stay one person with patient. We asked one of nurses to give my sister a blanket and they said we will give you when we have time and they never given. I will never recommend this hospital.

Loyal

Came in with severe pain, bleeding that has lasted a month on top of dizziness and nausea. Literally passed out in their bathroom. The doctor in the ER, Kooner, gave me an advil. Did absolutely nothing else besides a pelvic exam. Addressed none of my other concerns and then condescended to me the whole time. The pain is so bad I can't take care of my children but sure, I'm fine. Update: I have now passed out another time coupled with vomiting and calling Heathlink, they told me to go to Emergency but that is clearly not an option. This hospital, the staff, and especially Dr. Harry Kooner/Koonhar are all frauds who don't care about their patients.

Sam Omar

Every time I, or family have gone to this hospital it’s been an absolute nightmare. You would be quoted 3 hours in the waiting room before being seen in emergency but easily end up waiting 8, just to be waiting another 4-5 hours after being moved into a Different room. Don’t expect a doctor to be bothered seeing you when they’d rather be flirting with the other staff.

Waqar Asif

I think Kenny is cutting it right, few people in MRI section and just chatting. We waited for MRI for over an hour Beyond appointment time. No one to come in and inform. Janitorial staff looks like Supervisor and managers. Everyone seems to show their importance but no importance of time. Poor staff.

David Samson (Zexxia)

In the middle of COVID situation I had to be hospitalised 2 times for a flair of my desease. I don't have anything to complain about the place. I had a incredible service. Perfect A+++ In a other hand you need to be comprehensive of the staff and the service. With a crowded 4th wave of coronavirus I didn't get kicked out without reasons. The nursing team is wonderful and you will be ask to please put your mask. I want to thanks all the gastro/immunology team and specially the team of the unit 44 who made the best of a bad time for me. I never had to suffer and they are so friendly. When something isn't always at the best they realise it and you can tell they are truly doing everything with my care in mind.

Denise Henwood

Unit 44, in particular Nurse Manager 'R', was the worst, most incompetent, condescending, 'care'giver I have encountered in my experience. Filthy environment, rude RN's, unable to answer any questions, unable to feed patient, unable to shower, change, adequately provide basic care to patient, clueless about T1D, Parkinson’s Care, unprofessional. My poor father ended up stuck on Unit 44 for approx. 30 days. They discharged him, worse than when he was admitted. He died 8 days later. Go anywhere, ANYWHERE, else.

Olha Shpak

Related only to Labour and Delivery Services, Postpartum and Newborn Care Department. Delivered my baby there. Very satisfied. Great people and high professionals work there. A big THANK YOU to Nurka, Natti, Michelle and Slavka for postpartum care, and patience, and all the teachings. Nurse Kelly thank you for taking me through labour induction and delivery without any pain relieve medication as initially was in our birth plan. Excellent performance of vacuum delivery, sign left on baby's head disappeared during the first week. Unfortunately do not remember doctors name.

Balkan Farage

Worst hospital in Calgary! Staff members are very rude, and very impatience. They have no idea how to treat cancer patience. More often then non many people ended up transporting patience to other hospitals like Rockyview and or the foothills.

Cindy D

I’d give zero if I could. I was admitted on Sunday and I’m still in my street clothes. I got moved from a room with two beds and two bathrooms to a room with 4 beds and one restroom. This place is horrible.

IisCanadian Canadiangaming

I had to wait 4.5 hrs in emerg but once in there I was well taken care of with kindness and courtesy..Thank you.

Amanda Nyman

Came in with EMS (who were also amazing) after having a seizure at home. Almost immediately received a bed in the ER. Didn't take long to receive a blood test and CT scan. Every nurse and doctor I interacted with were kind and friendly. Was in and out of Emergency within 5 hours. So grateful for their kind service on one of the worst days of my life!

GenerationWhy

My friend checked in through emerg for a mental health assessment because hes having a manic episode and the doctor sent him home within 24 hrs and told him he didnt need help. Such a JOKE some of these doctors are....

Eleanor Cowan

From the moment that I called this morning at 9.30 a.m. to ask if I might come to emergency for painful back and neck spasms till 1.30 p.m. when I left the hospital, I was treated with courtesy, kindness and excellent professional care. Thank you to triage, the thorough intake staff, nurses and doctor who together determined that I had nothing serious to worry about. Thank you so much!

Ethan Stokes

Incredibly rude employee at the info desk by the ER looked at me like I had two heads when I asked for directions to the aortopathy clinic- telling me I was wrong and I was probably looking for cardio. Turns out that aortopathy is essentially within the cardio clinic. She didn’t even bother to offer directions though. Aortopathy is listed as a service a PLC on the AHS website. Don’t talk to patients and visitors with such disrespect and disdain when they ask for directions to a clinic that literally exists within your hospital. The info desk seems to be lacking actual information.

英漢周

Some staffs is nice but some is very rude. Those rude and not friendly staffs is not qualify to work in the hospital. The first day you decided to work and served our community, show us your professional attitude.

Vanessa Wattamaniuk

Spent 11h here in the day surgery department to get an ACL repair. Found absolutely every single person from porters to nurses to several doctors absolutely warm, friendly, caring and engaging. Really happy with my experience!

Sean Fernandes

Very laid back.. Took 5hours to see a doctor, when my friend had a fractured foot.

Dawn Evans

I was the on April 23rd - in the Emergency Department. I was seen, treated and out the door in 4 hours! The nurses and doctors were all lovely! I also went the following week - for the pre-admission clinic. GREAT people to deal with! I checked in, had an xray - with a FANTASTIC technician, blood tests, Second Cup coffee (lol) and out within 2 hours! I am SHOCKED! I hope this doesn't change!

Gabriela McCarthy

A great experience with unit 41. The nurses (Pia,JP, Taylor, frond desk) were very kind, helpful and with a great sense of humor. Great Pedriatic unit... you will be in great hands!

Mike Chartrand

As owner of A Laptop Shoppe, my family ,friends ,and I have been satisfied with the level of professionalism and quality of care at the PLC .

Jason Snider

We were there for 8 days with my daughter and her collapsed lung and all the staff their were incredible and helped us with any questions we had and they were always very pleasant and understanding. Unfortunately with the option of surgery that has come up we had to move her to foothills and that is a different story all together. But our experience at Peter Laugheed was a great one

Aries

Honest review: 3 stars thanks to the budget cuts of the government and the executive level officers getting bonuses when undue. Also because of the emergency waiting time and how crowded it is, but reason is stated below: I am NOT giving one star, because if you go there for a minor treatment, you'll definitely have to wait because of TRIAGE, where people who have bigger, more urgent ailments are given priority treatment. I am not saying small ailments are not taken care of. If you have to give ONE STAR, give it to the healthcare system, not the staff or the hospital. If you live in the northeast Calgary, you'll understand it is crowded. Recommend call 811 Alberta Healthlink first, unless life or death situation. Help ease the burden, people. Taxes only go so far, and we have to fend for ourselves too.

Chris Sanderson

This place had my Uncle in longterm care and it was brutal. They had him in a two person room ,but he was the 3rd person in the room so they kepted his best pushed up against the door. It was shameful and I'm sure the staff with a heart must have thought this as well. Treat folks better because you never know when that could be you!

Ruth Stewart

Had surgery a couple of years ago. Terrible experience. After telling the anaesthesiologist I was alergic to anaesthetic I was given too much and spent the night in recovery. The hospital was filthy! My bed was given away and I was finally shoved into a single room with an elderly gentleman. The washroom was never cleaned in the days 2 days I was there even though I was sharing a room. Floors were filthy Terrible

Karma Cat

BIRTH ALERTS ARE ILLEGAL!!!! IF YOU OR ANYONE EXPERIENCED THE SOCIAL WORKERS TAKING YOUR KIDS AWAY PLEASE REACH OUT!!!!! JOIN ME IN A LAWSUIT AGAINST THESE KIDNAPPERS!!!!

MovieBuffReal The Second

Had a surgery here once. Wonderful performance. No system is flawless though but I understand these are humans too. The room was cold the night I stayed there so I requested a blanket and was given to me. So to the losers who are whining: Get a grip of yourself. You're not too happy with AHC? try to change it to a better system. Talk is cheap. Let's see what you can do when it comes to real work! And wait until the free-health is gone. Maybe that improves. Another suggestion: Why don't you go to Mexico for your medical attention!? You deserve it!

Kyle Rand

Unit 51 was amazing. They did what they could to keep us comfortable. Had 2 amazing nurses that actually made things better. Unit 53 on the other hand. 1st nurse was rude and arrogant. 1 nurse we saw her once her entire shift. Waited over 6 hours before seeing another nurse. Unit 53 is a horrible experience... They spend to much time gossiping at the desk then doing their job

Noel Fenerty

Very clean and organized. Friendly staff. Good experience

Elle

Gave myself a superficial partial thickness (formerly known as second degree) burn after spilling boiled water on my stomach that scalded quite a large area and was sent to Emergency. The doctors and nurses that tended to me were very efficient and reassuring. Checked in and out approx. 2 hours later and got referred to a Burn Specialist who then called me the next day (we're now working on treatment).

Rumdeep Parmar

Plain& simple; do NOT go to their emergency.

Karl Alberto

I Tried to call looking for patient there, once I was transferred to third floor unit/area, the lady/nurse was very rude. I didn’t know patients didn’t have phones in their rooms, and she said to me “oh why don’t you call her home and leave a message there” the heck? if that’s how the handle calls, I would imagine care must be about the same, awful!

Debbie “Sweet Calgary Girl”

I went there on Tuesday September 14 at 9 pm it said 1.5 hours wait the waiting room wasn't even busy. Also when you checked in you aren't Social distancing especially when you go check in. Also they let some patients walked around he no masks on. After waiting for 2 hours I asked How much longer the triangle nurse said 2 to 3 hours. When there were maybe10 people in the waiting room. So checked myself out for I wasn't going to wait another 2 to 3 hours to see a doctor They aren't a very clean emergency waiting room.

William Robillard

My mother made a trip to the ER early this morning (around 4AM.) My mom turned her phone ringer off so I was unable to reach her when I woke up. I called PLC around 7:30AM and eventually was put through to a nurse who told me my mother was being cared for by a doctor, and she'd be home within an hour. This was a lie. According to my mom she was seen around 12 NOON, and she got home at around 1:30PM. I also asked the nurse to tell my mother I called, he said he would, but of course he did not. So...the PLC saved my mom, yes. But the bedside manner/PR is TERRIBLE. Don't expect accurate reports about your loved ones, even if they're in the ER.

Tikooy & Family Adventures

This was our first visit in this Hospital. “Dr. Paul Tourigny” without a doubt is the “BEST DOCTOR” I have ever had. Nurses are exceptional. My son Kendrick is really sick because of constipation, he makes me feel that he really cares with my son and feel comfortable with him as my son doctor. He’s beautiful combination of professionalism and caring. He is very easy to speak with, listen thoughtfully and appears fully involved with the patient. He handle my son very well, I’m very happy. Thank you so much.

Steven Miller

The most inhumane hospital in North America. The reception the nurses and the doctors are the worst in their field. They emotionaly abuse mental health patients and people with substance use disorders. When my buddy broke his leg the nurse threatened to call security if he didn't stop screaming. Hopefully people stop going there.

Jackson Le

They took care of my wife very well. Very happy with their professional services

c/rasaq mohamed

I'd give this hospital a zero if there was an option. Rude nurses (Although not all) doctors are unprofessional as well. Overall a complete waste of my tax money. Do not go here.

Terry

Called ahead to the E.R to get an estimate on the wait. She says 2 hours. I went and sat there in pain for 4 hours before in had enough and walked out. A nurse asked if I needed anything for pain..i say yes I do. She left and never came back. A few homeless were camped inside by the main doors. They would go into the bathrooms and stay in there for 45 minutes then come.out all messed up.avoid this place.

Sherry Lynn

This place is absolutely terrible, my father came in and was set to go home and because of lack on care he never made it out alive..It was dirty the never clean the rooms, I would have to clean his room daily and clean him as they only did once in 10 day's absolutely awful. Never let your loves ones end up here.

Oil Pool

Extreme waiting. Appointment Booked for 9 am at iv clinic and not seen at all until after 2 pm. Only to be told everything is ok. Only 1 doctor for entire clinic

jagmandeep singh

No bro no

Bojan Dimitrovski

The staff in Unit 51 and 53 were amazing. All doctors and nurses were super nice and helpful.

Terry Collins

Had surgery here. I had one okay nurse and many excellent ones. I had to go off some meds I take for mental health and those needs were not addressed via whoever the head nurse was that week.

Chris Lemky

Our day surgery unit 22 nurse dixie was very harsh and seemed more concerned with getting us out than actual care. Very heavy handed with poor bedside manner. This is what you get with socialist healthcare i suppose.

Marta Rodriguez

Moved to Calgary for a short time and had my second baby here. It was an amazing experience and I wish every woman in the world would have been able to get the same experience as me. The support was absolutely heartful and genuine. The nurses and doctors made giving birth more special then it already was. Thank you maternity ward at the Peter lougheed ❤️❤️❤️

Aryn Bruce

One star is too generous. If you have access to another medical centre, if you can convince the EMS staff helping you to go elsewhere, do so. ***If you are being hospitalized for suicidal ideation or a mental health crisis, especially if you have nonverbal spells while distressed and/or are LGBT, DO NOT GO TO PETER LOUGHEED.*** I was referred to PLC around New Years of 2017, for suicidal ideation caused by gender dysphoria. I sat in the waiting room for ten hours without being checked on and when I did finally see someone, I was told to simply go home. The doctor took my silence (brought on by stress and overstimulation as well as him holding my other means of communication out of my reach) as me being okay. Not only that, but the very reason I was checked in was a note scribbled on by a nurse five seconds before she walked away midsentence. I went home feeling worse than when I had been checked in because they literally did nothing. Before that, around Christmas, I was checked in for a "sprained" (read: broken and ultimately untreated) ankle. Multiple doctors walked away midsentence, one before she had even finished asking my name, and only previous experience being wheelchair-bound saved me from soiling myself due to how long I waited to even be seen. I left without being treated, even though my ankle was swollen enough it was like having a golf ball under my skin, and the pain was distracting at best. If I hadn't brought my own mobility aids I would have been crawling out to the taxi home.

moe fahs

You wait 5 hours to get an x-ray that literally takes 2 mins, i wonder how people with stress can wait too long.. very bad emergency service

Went here to deliver my baby in November because the last time I came here for surgery I had great nurses BUT for my delivery it was HELL . thank you Theresa for reporting me to social services saying I don't know how to care for my child just because I asked you ONE time to teach me how to breastfeed. You didn't teach me, you didn't let me learn on my own instead you were very forceful and when I first got to the room you check if I could feel my legs I told you I didnt get the epidural and you still went ahead making me COLD. You tried to get my boyfriend kicked out because he offered to help me breastfeed but instead you got defensive stating "NO its my job! I'll teach her" worse nurse ever. I should have requested for a different nurse the moment I met you! Today I am still dealing with CFS thanks to you. I'm a first time mother but you look at me like I am troubled because I am young. Clearly you don't know the meaning of "family" for you to try and get my daughters dad kicked out .. I was warned before I came to this hospital that some nurses look at young mothers like they don't know anything. The ONLY nurse that was good to me was Sara from Labour and delivery. All in all this is by far the worse experience I have EVER dealt with! Theresa do your job as a NURSE and stop trying to act like a social worker.. If you loved your job you'd be patient with a First time mom and not be so forceful OR report her for whatever reason you thought of. If I ever have another kid in the future I will NOT be returning to this hospital.. One person is all it took!

Asrat Asrat

The worst experience ever I had the doctors are not respectful or well educated don't know how to treat patient I give one star cuse no choice

Melinda Gross

Can we review a hospital? Unit 51 (Labour & Delivery) was amazing, triage, admitting, all helped me through as I was completely unfamiliar. Professional care from all, including our nurse Sam who stayed the entire delivery. On to Unit 53 (Post Partum) which wasn’t as great, every nurse who saw us gave us different instructions, and when we had to retrieve items left behind at labour, they had no idea how their lost property worked. But lots of room to walk around, and a convenient station with microwave and food prep spot. Visiting hours were a bit complicated but clear instructions posted in each room helped, and we received so much useful paperwork and tip sheets to help once we got home.

Annmarie McLaughlin

Thank you to all the Nurses in Emergency, Triage, Intake, all great. Thank you to the ER Dr's McLeod and Peterson on the care and professionalism shown during my recent visits. Thanks for following up everyday. You all are doing a great job. Thank you from a scared Pneumonia patient.

Caring hospital

Yesterday, July 24 my father passed away on unit #38 after coming into emergency Sunday evening. The level of care - both medical and human - was wonderful during this particularly difficult time. I would love to name all the staff from nurses, aids and the doctors who helped keep my dad lucid until I flew home and spent the night with him. I was there for his passing and the warmth and love was incredible. We are so thankful to have such kind, educated people in this country and a healthcare system that provides during the most important times of need. We will write a personal letter to the hospital management, but as I still have tears in my eyes, I want to offer a heartfelt Thank You for this care. Sincerely, Patrick

Brought here by ambulance and was put right into a waiting room. Been here for almost two hours and still haven't even seen a triage nurse! No one has even said a word to me. I came in with a serious matter and I am just put im a wheelchair and rolled into to the waiting room. Literally no one has said anything to me. And the nurse has not come back to check on me. Im in very bad pain and am terrified because of my condition. Im just left, as of its not a big deal. This isnt a minor injury this is a kidney issue with suspicion of my appendix. Im in so much pain and scared. This is bullshit. The emergency at peter lougheed is the worst I have ever experienced. Tried to speak to a nurse and all I got was additude. Very cold and didnt care what so ever. Thought when you go to the emergency at a hospital, you get treated with urgency and when its serious you get cared for, NOPE NOT HERE! This place is run like a doctor's office!!!!! I did a pee sample and had to sit with it on my friggin lap for almost two hours and when I approached the nurse and asked if i could give it to her, she gave me a dirty look! And then when i asked her again she said "sure" with an additude. Like why the hell do I want to have a cup of pee just sitting in plain view on my lap. They asked for a sample for F sakes not like i just randomly pissed in a cup. No compassion for the patients. I seriously regret coming here. If you have an emergency please go to any hospital but this one.

Piyush Kohli

I would give zero if there was an option. Went there and waited for 4 hours to get an injection. Staff is extremely rude and no one has a clue what is going on. Just a bunch of liers working and were gossiping to each other rather than taking the patients in the emergency and getting them registered.

Mohammed Sakran

Absolutely horrible. Been to different hospitals in Calgary but this one is on a different level. If I could rate 0, I would. I have been here for hours and people who show up hours after and look fine get called in before. Other than that, no one seems to be around to answer q/ take care of really sick patients.

Olga ch

I delivered a baby at the hospital and so thankful to the staff and Dr. Lewis, they were incredible. I want to tell a special “Thank you” to the nurse Monique (Mo), she is just the best, she took care of me so much and it seems like she did all my job I was supposed to do. Monique is absolutely great and professional, everybody who delivers with her is so lucky. I’m also very thankful to Dr. Peter who did epidural anesthesia for me, I was so scared, but he did such a wonderful job. Thank you! I’ll be back :)

harjit munjal

Unprofessional very poor service

Hayley Davis

Avoid emergency at all costs. You will be waiting forever. It’s also in the ghetto so lots of strange people showing up.

umu IQRA

Some of the nurses in the emergency department are really horrible. This one nurse filled my chart vitals that she didn’t even bothered to retake… she but the Blood pressure cuff on me and it red error. She never tried again and guessed my blood as 190/76 while my blood pressure was dropping really low. 92/70 with blurry vision and lightheaded. Please nurses don’t make things worse for the patients. That’s really sad.

tariq hamid

Well if doctor & nurses could focus on their job other than bithcing about their patients, so neither us or someother patients had to wait for 4hrs. Horrible service & experience i had never seen in my life ever..

Obakpolor Martins

Clean environment and friendly staff.

Ahmed (Hennessy Thugger)

They sent me home with a dislocated shoulder AFTER I waited for 5 hours in one of their emergency rooms!

Lindsey Petrovich

Took good care of my mom!

Navy Snow

Dad should go back to the mental health ward 10/10

I had a pre-booked operation performed on Dec 5th and just want to say "THANK YOU!!!" to all the staff of Peter Lougheed Hospital; from the admin people to the pre-op and post-op RN's and HCA's of unit #23, to the highly skilled Doctors; Dr. Sherri Gibbons, Dr Evan ? (sorry didn't get your last name) plus the other female Doctor who assisted to the anesthesiologists and OR nurses. They treated me as a person first by being caring and compassionate, and as a patient to encourage me to get through it as comfortably as possible. We are so very lucky to have such amazing people taking care of us and our loved ones in Calgary! I am very grateful, from my heart to yours a big thank you to all!!! ????

Wade White

I brought my friend who was experiencing severe back and hip pain. The nurses were extremely rude and not helpful at all. They have no ability to speak to people and treat them with respect. My friend felt like she was inconveniencing the staff each time she asked a question- and when I talked to the triage nurse I felt the same. We understand that you know how things work but patients need to be able to ask questions to understand what is happening to them

shoaib ashraf

My wife is sitting there for 7 hours in emergency! And no doctor has checked her. This is the standard of your emergency? Worst people inhuman people have no pain for the patients! Hope your families suffer the same. Even pakistani hospitals treat patients faster.

Samantha L

They treat you so bad at the emergency that you would never want to go back again. Nurses so rude, laughing and joking , telling stories about what she did yesterday while surrounded with patients in need of medical help , one of them said that the doctors are busy they are not out there drinking coffee with a smile on her face. An hour later a doctor walks in with a mug of coffee as if he just woke up . That huge lovely building occupied with such carelessness at the emergency department. Do you think if the owners of this hospital fall ill will they be treated the same ! They will probably bring the hospital to them . All of them in that department are on defensive mode , talking back at you as if there is something personal between you and them .

Jelly Bean

Never made it past emergency on 3 occasions regarding the same problem. Waited over 6 hours with no patients in the waiting room only to be sent home. The last time I went in I was in a lot of pain, constipated over a week, not eating and throwing up. Nurses wouldn't even give me ice chips. When I asked if I'm supposed to drink from the bathroom like a dog their response was, "yes" while snickering in the back. After 6 hours of me bawling, curled up in a ball on the floor, they finally decided to just put me in a side room with a curtain rather taking me to the back. Took my blood and said I was fine. Dr told me he couldn't give me anything for pain and to see my Family Dr. He kept acknowledging my WIFE as "my friend" and I'd have to correct him. (We're gay. Too bad for him if he couldn't comprehend or come to terms with it!) The nurse scolded me because the hospital had my information entered in their system incorrectly, (even though I explained it with documents to 5 other nurses prior, who chose not to correct it. And that's not including all the other nurses who chose to ignore it with my prior visits). She then tried to blame it on the Health Care System. I explained I worked at a Registry and that she was wrong so she got upset and walked away with the curtain open, even though I was undressed. Fully exposed middle up. A supervisor came in with security. And of course I wasn't in trouble. But I have no idea what happened with my complaints and the supervisor didn't seem to care neither. To date: I went to Foot Hills the following day. They took me in within a couple hours, I was given ice chips and pain meds. My blood was taken and I was then admitted and spent a MONTH there. I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer and had sugery removing 3/4 of my colon. I've been back for infections and hernias. I just finished chemo both IV and pill form. Is this sounding serious to anyone yet?! I've been back to this hospital several times, going through emergency with quick service even though there's a room full of patients. Not priority, just quick. Staff are always smiling, polite and are empathetic. The emergency section at Peter Laugheed was ABSOLUTELY disgusting. Glad I found a hospital who cared enough about their patients and wanted to save my life! I do hope your staff receive some sort of sensitivity training and Drs take patients concernes a little more seriously. It's a definite ZERO for me!

Amir Khan

One of the best hospitals. Great and fast maternity dept on 3rd floor

Clarence Langton

I would say the hospital and staff are excellent you couldn't ask for more

Arthur Simmons

Great

myztr j

I want to ensure you that I do not intend to paint all staff here with the same brush. "Screening supervisor" and most nurses sit around chatting and get quite snarky when you disrupt their gossip to ask simple questions.

Jeanette Flynn

Our daughter went for day surgery yesterday and from admission to discharge, we were treated with kindness and professionalism. The nurses were very attentive and provided excellent care.

Derek Moorman

My mother died here.. open heart surgery.. couldnt heal from unknown infection ..

Jessica Whittaker

Thanks to this stupid hospital I can't have babies. When I miss carried 7 years ago they didn't do a DNC . They also knew that I had an infectionin my uterus and didn't tell me. Here I am 7 years later having to possibleloose my uterus.! Thanks alot Peter Lougheed for being suck jerks.

Rob Emslie

Before you go there make sure you have a lawyer. My multiple visits have involved them giving me the wrong medication and having to resuscitate me, 3 security guards beating me up trying to get a second opinion on them wanting to amputate my foot which thankfully I did make it to the appointment and wasn’t necessary and waking up half way through an operation and them locking my wife in a waiting room and going home.

Dana Ivers

I usually have an ok experience here and feel comfortable. I recently went into emergency because I was having a Hemorrhagic migraine and only found out afterwards at my family doctor. I was able to tell the admitting nurse that I thought I was having a migraine when I got there and then I went downhill so fast. I was unable to say the correct words, My right side went numb, couldn’t see straight, couldn’t read, was in so much pain that I could barley open my eyes and I wanted to vomit the whole time and couldn’t tell anyone else. After I had told one person my issue it was not communicated to others and the rest of the staff that tried to help were mostly rude to me and kept asking me the same questions even though I could not answer. There was no compassion except from one nurse who tried her very best to help me. They discharged me in almost the same state and gave me no pain medication and said that nothing was wrong. I couldn’t even give my ride home my address. I felt brain damaged. I felt helpless. Please pass along information if a patient tells you something. This shouldn’t happen.

A H

Rude nurses/staff who have no communication skills whatsoever. Gets worse everytime! Do not recommend avoid this hospital if you don’t want a bad experience. Hospital is very dirty, patients get more sick here. Absolutely disgusting!

Lorna Stevens

My 92 year old mother was seen in ER on the weekend and had to return Sun evening. Decision was then made to admit her, but there was a long waiting list for in-patient beds. Late Mon. she was assigned to a bed on Unit 42. I would like to thank the ER staff for the way they effectively handled my mother with her dementia. This is on top of her painful arthritis and visual blindness - she is a complex patient. The staff treated her with upmost respect and caring and were very helpful in guiding us her family through the admission process. Her inpatient room setting is very pleasing with much natural light and appropriate wheelchair support for her.

I am legend

one of the disgusting and overrated hospital located in NE of Calgary Shame on you all staff members ..the staff is so rude ! dont know how to talk and communicate with patients. 4 years of studies and patient management are wasted.

Rob Speers

Excellent care and support in emergency for 2 days.

Ali Lloyd

I went in to emrgancy by ems witv chest pains and ended up having a sezuier after being discarged and getting home i relized marks that where not there when i came in they did the sturm rub on me witch left the marks is what they said but why on my collarbone witch is now fratcured im not going to this hospital again unless i have to as im in much more pain then i went in with yes im thankful they helped me but leaving marks like they did is not ok at all

Ramesh Vinnakota

Had GI endoscopy and Colonoscopy. Although waiting period for an appointment was long , once I went in found staff very professional and capable. Whole procedure went smoothly from reception to discharge. Thanks to the doctor and staff who did this during the Covid crisis .

Sean Hyderi

Even 1 star is way too many. Lost my niece last night because of this place. The baby was very bruised when it was delivered, didn't even last a minute. When i saw some of the nurses hands i can see they had pretty long fingernails. They were very unprofessional. Thats all i have to say. I would avoid this place at all cost.

Georgie Boudreau

I just called to find out about a friend who was going in for surgery today (Oct 20th - 10:15am) and went through patient location operator. Just not a very friendly person at all. It was as though I was bothering her. Too bad, if she doesn't like her job, she should give it to someone who would enjoy it. On the other hand, maybe upper management should take note that she may not be a good fit in this position dealing with the public. I sure hope my friend gets better and friendly treatment that this!

Teresa Doll

They don't take mental health seriously On two occasions they made me wait ridiculously long. The first time, four hours, Second time I came by ambulance and it took SIX hours! If you are suffering from a mental health issue don't expect much either. After all that waiting they rush you out. Go elsewhere if you can help it. They must be seriously understaffed

Mahsa Kiamehr

My son was born there a couple of weeks ago by cesarean section,l was satisfied with all staffs and the whole procedure from admission to discharge went very smoothly. All the units were clean and my OB (Dr.Nasr Esfahani)and the surgery team were professional and fast.Nurses did a great job by educating mothers about their concerns with babies, specially breastfeeding. Thanks to them now I’m breastfeeding my baby.

Ebad Naqvi

very professional. very caring. excellent level of service.

Greg Henderson

My wife just returned from day surgery (unit 22), a department suffering from such low cultural health it manifests in poor patient care. A dismal experience. After afternoon surgery, she had virtually nothing to eat except dry crackers; hunger forced her to get out of bed at 11:00 PM to look for food. That's a full 29 hrs (including fast-time before surgery) without food! Patients are essentially on their own: I suggest you bring your own food, water, blankets and care. Poor communication and lack of empathy prevails on the ward. In contrast, the surgical nurses were absolutley wonderful as was Dr. Rothwell, his resident , and Ruby (in Unit 22). The exceptional nurses at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre are an example of a high performing team, treating patients with care and respect:the nurses at Unit 22 should take advantage of learning from their colleagues.

Donna Kimmel

Been to PLC a few times, both for surgery and by emergency...I have nothing bad to say about them other than the food...that needs some work. Seems the bad reviews were for emergency room and perhaps these people should have gone to a walk in clinic instead...they will also access your situation and will tell you if you need the hospital.

Alexandra J

Very good expirience. Was getting a day surgery. Won't go into detail about what it was for as it isn't a happy topic. The staff were very kind and polite. Not judgemental. The nervous for the surgery and even though they say you're not completely out for it you are. I was afraid reading you would still be concious. Don't remember anything from the surgery and the nurses in recovery were very kind. It took 4 hours but only an hour for the actual surgery itself.

Khalid Shahid

To any staff member of the hospital reading this. Please remember you are dealing with human beings and it's okay to show some compassion. We come there because we need your help. Spending 11 hours in emergency is one thing, but being treated horribly by staff is another. You all have meaningful jobs and can make a differenc in peoples lives. Unless this hospital improves, please drive an extra hour if need be and go to Rockyview Hospital.

Lisa Lee

Worse hospital ever!!! The staff is rude and the place is dirty! Homeless people sleeping there and doing needles in the public bathroom. Go anywhere else in the city but there..they seriously should close that place down!

Angela F

What is the point in splitting the emergency room up in two (one isolation unit for covid, one for all other patients) when you are just going to mix all the patients (including ones without covid symptoms) in the pandemic response unit. They place you in a cubicle not more than 1 metre away from another patient, who probably has covid. When asked if any covid positive patients were in the tent the nurse takes you to, she tells you "I'm not allowed to disclose that". Then the nurse stated "it's no different from the real world, covid is everywhere". I get that it's a hospital, and the risk is there, but why extend the risk further by possibly placing immune compromised patients with covid positive patients?

Deepak Kumar

My experience was good though they asked me to wait for 5 hours that's why 3 stars.

Jay Tee

Worst experience ever... Unprofessional at all... That was on Saturday Feb 1st around 10:30pm. My son was very very tired and can bearly sit down... I told the triage nurse that he is very tired... She replied "I am tired too!!!!!"... They did nothing but let us waiting for hours!!!! My son was very hopeless and could not wait any more so we had to leave without seeing a doctor... Process needs reviewing and staff need to be re-trained on customer service.

Giulia Correia

I visited a dear friend of mine in unit 53 today and I was very impressed with the care and attention she was being given by the staff assisting her. In particular, Lorri in housekeeping was so kind and she could somehow make us (the visitors and the patients alike) feel like we were part of a big family

Gabriel Marion

I went to Peter Lougheed for stomach cancer operation. I was well looked after in admission pre operation and my 12 day recovery. Everything was well coordinated. Very competent and professional doctors and nurses. I have seen health care hospitals personally in Ontario (overcrowded), Manitoba (unclean and rudimentary) and British Columbia (outright rude and condescending). Not impressed at all. Until coming to Alberta you have one of the best Health Care in Canada. Calgary South Campus, Peter Lougheed and Foothills Hospital are fantastic care givers.

Play Chick

I went to emerg one night, bad move, a bunch of import doctors that know nothing about canadian health care, they gave me 3 piills that had a very bad effect on me and will for the rest of my life, DONT GO THERE.

Kristy Penman

Aside from the long wait and you can't control that but they are amazing and we're good to both my husband and I. We thought I had a blood clot in one of my legs they took it very seriously and got me in for an ultrasound the next day. Thank you Peter Lougheed emergency staff for be cool.

محمد ترحيني

Triage Nurses are insulting, demeaning and degrading and slow. Please do yourself a favor and die on the street. Better than visiting their emergency section

ishpinder parmar

Nurse was too rude but doctors were good Emergency deptt. too lazy as they lack staff I was told there was only one doctor taking care of emergency .., u hv to wait

Julia Ellis

I spent 7 days in Hospital. 2 nights in emerg. and the rest in 3905. I came in on a Friday the 6th of September and was discharged on Friday the 13th. I want to commend you and your staff on an efficient and friendly place to stay. I would love to thank so many by name but that would be too many. I was under the care of Dr. Liu who was awesome. Peter my nurse for most of my stay, the best, Dianne, Rupi, Nick, Tam and so many others I can't name. I was in a ward by myself as I had a virus that they didn't want to spread, where everyone had to suit up. gloves and facemask, and not a one ever by passed that rule. The administration should be proud of their staff. They stuck to all rules and could not be swayed. I commend and respect them. Was it you Dianne that we had that bathroom dance we did when the pot kept falling into the water and you needed a sample from me? That was hilarious. I still say it should have been a comedy video. I complained about the bed at first but got it all straightened out before I left. It was just fine. The no salt diet was a bit of a shock but I think it changed to a lo salt diet before I left. The food was great after that. Good variety, loved it. They did every test possible on me and I thank you for that. I am still weak but overall I feel better than I did when I went in. I hope I wasn't a pest, I tried not to be and I was treated royally and with respect and I return these feelings right back at them. Thank you, Thank you for a great experience and a wonderful stay and I saw how hard these nurses and Doctors work when they are so dedicated in helping others..

Shayleen Allamby

i really am having a hard time understanding the emergency intake process so let me get this straight.... my wife goes in clearly in extreme pain you ask her on a scale of 1-10 how much pain are you in she says 10 worker says are you sure that's like having a baby my wife says yeah i know i have 7. .... so we get sent back to the waiting room and i'm seeing ppl not in as much pain going thru and it's been hours ... like the point of the scale is to asses the urgency of the visit no? like i'm annoyed with this hospital

Anne M

Take the drive and go to a hospital with employees that remember why they’re in healthcare. Ones that care more about the patients then they do themselves.

KEVAL PARMAR

Just a worst experience with the hospitality and also doctors doesn't respond like whatever you are on , if you are dieing they don't care. I would never never never recommend this hospital.

Karamjeet Gill

Dr Anoop- this guy works in emergency and I would say I should not even call this dude a doctor- Worst experience ever... Its funny that we waited in the emergency for whole night and when he came to see me... he was telling me that he can’t help me and I have to see my family doctor... I don’t know how people get degrees when they don’t even know their basics...This is the worst hospital to go for emergencies....

c Laurie

I was in there with super high hypertension fluctuating between 165/98 to 145/95, with a severe migrane. One of my nurses told me that they will not treat my hypertension unless it was over 220, when I voiced my concern about the cup kept falling off and I asked them to put it back on. I got so frustrated that I went and asked a nurse at the desk ( I believe she was the clerk) if I could transfer hospitals since I was told they wouldnt treat my hypertension. The desk was aprox 4 feet from my bed. Then my other nurse began to yell at me to go back to my bed, that I had no right to talk to anyone else at the hospital. I actually told her its not against the law to walk away from my room and later confirmed it with a peace officer who witnessed this person yelling at me. I was indeed discriminated based on the color of my skin because other people were treated so much better than me and the other people were there same ethnicity as the nurses. They were treated with dignity and I wasnt. There was even a comment from one of the nurses where she said to me " We wont be treating you because its not serious otherwise you would be seen by a doctor immediately. So I left the hospital without being seen by a doctor because of hostility of staff. I even have videos of the hospital not monitoring my Hypertension.

Marilyn Hirsche

the only thing I was disappointed in was how unclean the wash rooms were, they were dirty, and didnt have toilet paper. the toilet had pee on it, so I had to clean, sinks and toilet before i used them ... hard to do properly when urgency was key. thank god I had kleenex in my pocket to clean myself. on top of that I couldn't find anyone to tell except the tech that was doing my MIR.

Peter Yuan

Very professional staff taking care of me at my most vulnerable.

caleb gillin

My friend convinced me to go to this hospital, instead of hanging myself. My fiend is a very smart woman and she knows people that went to this place and they helped These people get help and they help people get back on their feet. But this was 5 years ago. I got put in unit 57. When I was told I Had to leave, nothing had changed . It was a long weekend and all they did was have a chat, then go Color for 10 hours a day. One patient had his mother and daughter visiting, then this nurse Walked over and said that he had to read and study the paperwork he was given and that his family had to leave. I refused to let my 9year old come visit because I didn't want her to ask things like why do they treat people this way. The way unit 57 treated this one girl. The told her that there wasn't any kind of program to help her with her mental issue . Who tells someone with a mental issue that there no way to help them. I informed nurses that she would hurt herself and that they should watch her. The nurse looks over the Desk and says that they can see her. Not even 5 min later and thay pulled her out of the room and she stabbed herself in the neck. To the parents of this girl. Yes she's got issues, but seek legal help. That hospital is only telling you what they have to so they don't get in trouble. Tell your daughter that I worry about her every day

Patrick Savard

Worst place ever . Triage is so bad empty chairs everywhere. And a 5 hour wait . Watch a guy laying the floor in absolute paint . Watched 4 paramedic walk by him. 2 security guys walk by. And a bunch of nurses who are just there for a pay check. I use to have such respect for these ppl.

Manny S

Saved my life 5star

Brad Hodgson

I delivered my baby at PLC and the staff was amazing. Wouldn't have changed a thing.

Deborah Kelly

This is the absolute WORST hospital I've ever had the misfortune of being admitted to. I had to spend some time in their psyche ward and it actually traumatized me more for having spent time there. Avoid this prison at all costs!

Jackie T

All hospital staff are awesome. Lucky to have this hospital in my neighborhood.

RA S

So many positive experiences in good/bad situations. Staff at all levels were very caring, not only of the patient, but of family members as well. The surgeon who attended even calls after surgery to let us know how it went and how our loved one was doing.

Sofia Kubrin

We waiting for an our appointment with Hematologist and the doctor running late already for more than 1 hour. And the medical office assistant blatantly lying that she was calling for me. Patients with disability have to pay for disability parking!!! The worst clinic in the Calgary

william brown

all good

Kevin Michael McCormack

Bad experience. Great "service " parking free. Treaty 7 land. Black foot territory treaty 7. Would not send my daughter here. Kevin Michael William McCormack

Chris Goetken

I choose the right hospital for my issue...very professional staff ..if I had another apendix to remove I would go there....thankyou Peter lougheed surgeons and nurses.. Chris goetken

Jalapeno Jalpeno

the only reason why you would go here is if the ambulance took you and you had no choice. even then if you could jump out of the ambulance do so and run as far away from this place. i have been to many 3rd world countries and some of them beat this so called hospital in service and response times. YOU SHOUD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELFVES.

Lynne Gore

I had to spend 3 days in the PLC after becoming rather ill with an infection. The care and friendly nature of all staff was great Kudos to RN Pamela on floor 3 unit 38 room 23 she was absolutely fantastic. Especially on Sunday Dec 1st

Jeriku Mann

Want to say a much needed thank you to the hardest working er nurses in the city! Putting up with all the drug seekers and covidiots! Thank you for showing up to work everyday!

H Clark

I had appendicitis and was transferred from Airdrie hospital to PLC for emergency surgery. I went to the emergency triage and didn’t have to wait to long to see a nurse. I waited in a cubicle and three different nurses checked in on me as I waited for a bed. I was asked the same questions over and over. I told them serval times I was allergic to one type of antibiotic, and had a red band on my wrist with the name of it. Yet somehow they forgot or missed it and pumped me with an antibiotic of the same kind and soon developed an allergic reaction. The surgeons, nurses and doctors on the second floor were amazing though, so that’s why I’ve given three stars instead of one!

doctors are NOT knowledgable at all. went in 2 times for chest pains and stomach pains and they told me it was just acid reflux. went to edmonton and while down I got checked again and they told me I have a stomach ulcer! dont go to this hospital they are a complete waste of time and resources!

Bonny Graham

Mother in law had a stroke, admitted. Excellent care all around from dietary to Nurses to Physicians. Very respectful, kind and friendly. Never make her feel she is bothering them. Thank you. Brings peace knowing is well looked after when we cannot be there.

Today, July 20, 2021, I visited the hematology clinic treatment room, I want to sincerely express my gratitude to registred nurse Miho for being empathetic, kind and considerate to me. This is such a rarity these days. I am very grateful to her for all the explanation about the procedure and patience with my requests, being humane and caring. All these 3 hours that I spent in the clinics passed quickly and unnoticed thanks to the attitude and big heart of Nurse Miho. She was very professional and gave me excellent service. It's so nice to see people who love their job and fulfill their obligations with dignity and responsibility. All team was great at Day Mrdicine " Treatment room" Everyone was friendly and polite.

I get treated more better in the philippines and Calgary is supposed to have better health service. I had a bad nosebleed that lasted more than 45 mins and was feeling dizzy and nauseous. Was ignored and had to approach someone prior to being attended to, told to wait because a lady prior to me had to be taken care of and then when it was finally my turn was told to wait again. Waited half an hour prior to being taken in and waiting 2 hours up until now for someone to see if anythings wrong with me. Honestly if I had known I was going to be left Cold and ignored I wouldnt have come and wouldve just called someone to help me instead. I get treated better at walk-in clinics vs the terrible experience rn

Oh my good lord.....this place SUCKS! I had a partial blocked airway cause of a stuck chicken bone in my throat. The T.V. is frozen on 4 hours just to give you hope. As soon as I was admitted the front staff was SUPER rude and both ladies were angry about god knows but they were taking it out on the patients with a childish attitude well deserving of a spanking. Then I got admitted finally after waiting 12 hours and over heard staff talking and laughing about 2 people that had very sensitive issues. In the end I had to go to work and performed my own chicken bone extraction. NEVER GO HERE!!!

Went to emergency Wednesday at 1145pm for a thrombosed hemmorhoid. Got sent to labor and delivery cause I was 35 weeks pregnant. Waited for 4 hours to see a Dr in which she tried to push it back in after I told her no cause I was in excruciating pain. They told me they couldn't do anything for me so I had to go back to emergency to see a general surgeon Dr there. Waited another 3 hours in emergency. Finally saw the general surgeon Dr at 10am. Told me there was nothing they could do but admitted me to treat the pain and see if it would get worse or better. Was admitted for 2 days. Saw 3 different Drs on the general surgery team. Each one telling me something different. Terrible experience. Never again will I go back to the PLC.

The Nurses and doctors were very helpful during my wife’s giving birth.

Tried rectifying the following situations, only to be given excuses and lies from the nursing manager and staff. 1) I was in quite a bit of pain, as I was having a host of post-surgical complications (2nd ER visit after surgery). I asked if I could have anything for pain and was ignored. I was supposed to drink CT media and was in ER due to inability to eat or drink and severe retching. Didn't take the extreme nausea or pain into consideration. 2) Same ER visit: a team of surgeons had seen me and put in multiple IV medication orders. 4 hours later a nurse comes over (I was a few paces from the desk) after I call her, I ask if I'm supposed to be getting medication. She checks and says "I'm sorry, we forgot about you." The ER. PACES AWAY FROM THE NURSES DESK!!! WHILE THEY STOOD THERE GOSSIPING THE ENTIRE TIME!!! 3) Next inpatient stay for same complications: I left for a gastroscopy and my boyfriend came down with me. When he returned to my room, a cleaning staff member seemed awfully sheepish. My neighbour was gone and so were my Lululemon pants. The cleaning staff were the only ones in that room for that 50 minute period of time. I was told by customer relations that 'you find those people in every organization'. Well, I am a health care professional and I sure as heck expect better morals from the people who are supposed to be held to high standards like myself. I had to leave that hospital in early October in thermal underwear because I'm not from in town and the doctors where I live refused to treat me. Update: GI clinic was absolutely amazing! Also, last inpatient visit the nurses were very good on the floor, yay!

Harvey Mahmi

The worst bunch of nurses ever, Not a professional staff at all, a person is in pain and they make him wait 3 hours, I can see why so many people OD off pain meds bc they end up taking more as there pain gets worst

Ashley

I've had two beautiful babies here with excellent experiences with all the staff. Everyone knows what they're doing and are kind and helpful. It's the people that make the experience great. Thank you!

Chris Ouellette

Worst hospital in Calgary. Super slow. No cares given.

Everlyn May

I got so upset at the hospital I delivered in because I'm vegan and I am raising my babies vegan. So, at the hospital right after my baby was born they took him to the nursery and immediately bottle fed him cow milk formula without even consulting me about it first. I was able to breastfeed, but they didn't even give me the chance, and kept my baby in the nursery for 24 hours, so I didn't even get to spend time with him or feed him properly for the first 24 hours of life. The nurses kept saying, "well he needs to eat. This cow milk formula is all we have" but they didn't even let me breastfeed. I've never felt so disrespected in my entire life. My baby is now 4 months old and he breast feeds and supplements sometimes with soy formula. I wish I could go back to that hospital and yell at them for abusing my rights and freedoms, and for not caring about my babies health. This just shows people how uneducated they truly are about how veganism is healthy, or else they would never have gone and done this in he first place. The hospital kept me and my son for nearly 46 hours just because they labelled me as a 'first time mom'. I had two doctors each tell me I could go home after 24 hours, and then when that time came and passed I asked why we weren't discharged, and all I got was, "you're baby is only 6 pounds Hun, he's too small. Are you sure he isn't jaundice?" 6 pounds or not, he had a clean bill of health so I asked for a second opinion. I had 3 nurses refuse to get a doctor for me to get a second opinion for, and while all this was happening I had a nurse come tell me that while my baby was in the nursery his blood sugar dropped because one of the nurses forgot to feed him. So not only did I wait almost 3 days to be discharged for a healthy, normal delivery/baby; I also had been discriminated against because I was 'younger and a new mom' as everyone kept telling me. I had my rights as a mother stripped away the moment they bottle fed my child without permission, and without checking with me about his dietary restrictions as well, fully aware that we are a no animal product, fully vegan family. By the time I got a second opinion from the doctor it was 11pm, and he told me we wouldn't be allowed to leave that late at night, and would have to stay for another night. The lady beside me had her 4th baby, and got discharged before 24hrs. I've never felt so discriminated against in my life, and the nurses never checked on me to see how I was doing, and once I told them that I wanted my baby in the same room as me, they never once came back to check on either of us. I had to send my husband out to go get someone, and it took almost 2 hours each time for someone to come. Have you ever had a baby start chocking for no reason, and have no nurses come in even after you page four times? I have. It's not fun, and it's very scary and it should never have happened. I advise all pregnant ladies who are debating delivering at Peter Lougheed to go somewhere else. The postpartum staff is very disrespectful and they will not treat you or your baby nicely. And if you are younger than 30 years old, they will treat you like you are 16 years old; I'm 27 in case you are wondering. I have never felt so disgusted with this hospital, and hell, I was even born in this hospital! And to make matters worse, I was shamed by the nurses for needing a catheter, and I was only given bread to eat for the whole time I was there. Bread. I feel like if I had given birth in a prison it would have been nicer. Hospitals shouldn't be able to go against parents wishes and ethical standpoints just because they feel like it. My baby had no reason to be on formula, and he had no reason to be kept from me for 24 hours. I will never get those 24 hours of bonding time back with my son. Ever. This should never have happened, and I want everyone to know about it because I'd hate it if it happened to someone else.

Devon Dee

worst hospital ever!!!! I went there because i couldnt see out of one of my eyes, my are was numb and i was have sign of MS. i waited 2 and half hours with a waiting time of 45 minutes. went i finally got in i waited another 15-20 minute. i talked to the doctor and told him what was wrong with me. they took blood from me and after that all he said was that i needed to get my eyes check. bullshit!!

Dmitriy Kits

Healthcare on Sunday in Alberta. Upon discovery that all walk-in clinics are closed, which is against advertised schedule and consequent call 811 line, my wife is sent to the hospital. We chosen Peter Lougheed. Mistake. We might not be an emergency case, but we see many others who suffer. And yes, I understand that hospital visit is not a birthday party, but what strikes is that waiting room stays still for 4 hours. In other words the impression is that all personel is either on vacation or treating victims of mass fire... One person was moved out of this room within 4 hours. The rest are waiting. Is it why emergency room called this way? And seldomly passing staff acts as they are all Bethowens - deaf.

I was recently taken by Ambulance to the PLC Emergency for Hypertension and extreme Head + Neck Ache + Nausea. The treatment from all the Nursing Staff was short of being Cruel. I was there overnight and through the next day. When you suffer with any type of head pain, the last thing you need to hear are, Loud Yelling from the Nurses at the Patients, including me, uncaring attitudes, Loud Yelling to each other across the length of the unit as to what one wants in her coffee, no Call Bell (I had to ask for it) because of the pain I had and couldn't move and was scared, Loudly Slamming + Banging Drawers. Just constant Rude + Snotty Attitudes throughout my stay!. They don't help you in and out of bed to go to the bathroom, or even help you get dressed, with Covid, since family members are not allowed in to help. They remove your blankets for different reasons then leave you to try to coordinate them yourself when it's hard to do that!. The Unions are spoiling them with High Wages and Benefits giving them Rotten Attitudes toward the Patients! Time for a Major Change to the Health System for Patient Care, not for the already Overpaid Attitudes of nursing staff!. Where and Who, are they getting their training from should be questioned! And make them dress the part instead of looking like cleaning staff, of which I think, would give better care to a patient! Unions have no place in Health Care! Also I hadn't eaten for 2 days and when I asked if I could have a sandwich to help with my head pain caused by High blood Pressure and not being able to eat, one of the nurses told me if I need to eat I shouldn't be there!. Start Complaining to Hospital Administrators, MLAs, and the Provincial Health Minister before this goes to far.

Zara Ahmed

I took my dad here because he was having a nosebleed and he was having it twice a day for 4 days in a row, the doctor did all the results and said nothing is wrong, just a small crack in the nose. Next day my dad had a nosebleed again so we took him to our family doctor, he looked at the results from a previous day and said he has an infection and did more results. I wouldn’t recommed going here. The doctor in the emergency just wanted to get rid of us.

Myriam Karnas

Thank you Nurse Yun (day) and Nurse Brittany (night) on unit 29. You were very gentle and caring.

Thomas

Staff is pretty nice but the wait times is a joke, by the time they see you, you're probably already a fossil.

Suryakanta Patil

Ashleigh from Imaging and ultrasound department was very amazing!!!! Best service ????

Cher Laurencio

I gave birth on June 2nd,2021. I had a wonderful Labour and Delivery unmedicated experience as a first time mother. I dont remember the names of the wonderful Nurses but theyre all excellent! They are very kind , caring and helpful. Thank you to Dr. Chawla and my nurse Alycia for the patience and care you gave me while I was induced . Highly recommend this hospital for Delivery. Thank you all so much.

jack ravencoat

ICU people with people that have brain injuries dont put there life support strap around the neck/head so tight and say (there brain is swollen we dont know why) doesnt take a rocket science to figure that out. Need more training doctor.

Delphine Manklow

Wait time posted 3 hours when I arrived. Waited 8 hours and still not seen. Triage nurses terrible, didn't even look at my ankle, how do you properly triage without an assessment. Will never go to this hospital again! No one should

Karen Penner

I have been here a few times lately with my mom and I can say that the last time we had to wait quite a long period, BUT, I saw the others coming in and realized that those they thought had COVID were going in first, makes sense in the big picture....Volunteer Mike, great guy!! Most of the nurses of are very good, they are tired but they work hard. I will say that people without a family Dr going there, PLEASE STOP IT, GET A FAMILY DR.! YOU ARE TAKING AWAY FROM THOSE THAT NEED HELP!! Those of you that feel you are waiting to long, these are the times we live in and its no fun for anyone.....

YYC Turtle

Went there with a couple of people, they misdiagnosed and sent home. About 10 hours later they went to the hospital in an ambulance and it turns out it was a stroke. Please get a note from your family doctor telling the ER doctors what to do as apparently they can't do much on their own.

Roy O

I've had two surgeries here, unrelated, 5 years apart. On both occasions I've been treated exceptionally well and have nothing but praise for the staff. Thank you for doing your best.

Michael Strickland

The Emergency room nurses are probably the most ignorant people we've ever dealt with such rude people and probably the slowest moving department in the city if I could give a quarter of a star rating that would ever be a generous rating!

Saira Rehman

They don't have idea how is worse or just ok. Waited 4 hours still 43 patients as i was told 4 hours ago. Leaving for other hospital

DAN Stech

No staff or help. Just people standing around asking people to wait. Everytime Iv come here it's been a joke. Oh and I have been waiting for a tylonal for an hour. Lol. How are any of you employed.

Jessie Daye

I came in here sick to my stomach to the walk in and the little blonde doctor is absolutely my fav I've ever had. Shes sweet and fast and caring and does her job amazing !! Thank you so so much

Patricia Clendenan

Dr was rude and then stated its my fault for being abused

Matthew Sypher

One star is actually being generous. This kangaroo hospitalbis one of the worst I've ever dealt with as a patient or as a visitor. Unprofessional, Rude, Unorganized there is not one single thing I can recommend about this hospital. Parking is pathetic, cant pay by debit or MC. Hmmm so everyone has a credit card? Or cash... who carries cash now a days. So go use the ATM and dinged fees for taking out money by this point you've already been ticked.

Tamara E

My Mom is dead. The PLC ER doctors just kept sending her home and the Foothills was about to do the same until my sister, a lay-person, made a suggestion to the doctors on what to check. My Mom needed emergency surgery that same night in order to save her life although all it ended up doing by that time was prolong her life with consistent pain for another four months. I don't know if ALL the doctors just kept missing what the symptoms were pointing to or if it's just that the elderly don't matter as much. Either thought is traumatizing...

Kelly Allen

After taking a fall on the ice and needing help from strangers who pulled over to help getting up, we headed to PLC to have my hubbys laceration and goose egg looked at. Wow! The outstanding service we got was incredible. We arrived 30 minutes after the incident, spent possibly 10 minutes waiting to be spoken to at registration. ( There were a few people already being assessed in front of us, and about 5 people behind us). We were immediately taken into an area awaiting a visit from a Dr. Nurses came in to check on hubby, Dr came in app 30 minutes after our arrival, informing us that he wanted a CT scan done, and hubby needed his tetnus shot updated. Nurse returned app 20 minutes layer to give shot. A few minutes later an orderly arrived with wheel chair to take hubby for CT scan. He was gone app 20 minutes. The longest wait was for Dr. to arrive back with results. There was several people that arrived after us, all in the same cubicles as we were in. So easy to hear the conversations, everyone being made to feel they were the highest priority case. From start to finish we spent 3 hours at PLC with the utnost respectful friendly team of Drs, nurses and staff, and left with the confidence that during hubbys recovery we will continue getting great support and care from the PLC!

Erin Livingstone

Had my baby here a couple weeks ago. Nurses were amazing and very attentive. Dr.’s and medical students were all extremely helpful. Post partum nurses were also friendly and informative. Great experience.

Byron Hill

Worst place ever. Treated like a common street criminal because i had aroma of my medication. Get your nurses more educated about the medications of the present and maybe less concerned about there attitude towards things they don't understand. This is not the end of this we are VERY VERY embarrassed by the way the nurse treated us while we waited for my mother in law who was rushed via ambulance.

Dor Cas

we are here to comfort the grieving family for losing their dad but we are asked to leave even though there are a few people there.

saroj malla thakuri

Today I took my wife having abdominal pain...it was worst experience in Peter hospital.had to wait hour n hour in waiting room..she was crying hours n hours ..nobody care.i do not know what to expect from Emergency.doctor seen around after 5 hours..But I am really thankful to volunteers helping me out .For volunteers I would give ***** 5 rating ...

Haven Atom

My all 4 of my grandparents went here and never made it out each time they would milk it and they wouldn’t tell us anything until they were close to dying they should start working on telling family’s if there loved ones health is getting bad

Alan D

I received excellent care during a 24 hour stay for surgery. Seemed to be good communication between surgery, the ward, the physiotherapy department, and the porters, so I always felt well-looked after at each stage of my treatment and when moving through the hospital. Physiotherapy facility and staff really stood out as a highlight of my stay. My ward had a great private room, and I'm sure that in longer stays the privacy would aid in recovery, though I understand that some other parts of the hospital have shared ward rooms. Possible areas for improvement: parking is expensive, food is not the greatest, and based on my experience there may be not quite enough supervision of student LPNs. Overall the best of my very limited number of non-emergency hospital visits.

josh william

Worst hospital I have ever been to. I found out after leaving I had strep throat combined with a pet allergy, that made it very difficult to breathe and I had a very high fever. They only gave me one tylenol at the beginning, which had no effect. Three or four Nurses assumed it was Covid since I walked in (I already had covid). I laid on the bed for 4 hours before the doctor came and told me I had an infection and was probably covid (had to wait for test result 12h). I told him I had Covid already, which for some reason was NEWS TO HIM. Although the nurses said you could get it again, the doctor insisted it was extremely unlikely. It's now been 36 hours and they haven't told me my test results, so I did a rapid test myself and tested negative. They had me stay in the covid section of the hospital. Had I contracted covid while having strep, I would have been in terrible shape. Two days later I find out from my family doctor that I have strep throat that urgently needs antibiotics. Nobody ever even looked at my throat at this hospital, let alone swabbed it. If it wasn't for the lack of communication and care for this hospital, I would be relieved of symptoms by now. Thanks for nothing. P.S. I came in hyperventilating due to shortness of breath. Nurse said "You should stop breathing like that or you're going to get dizzy, just slow your breathing". Like of course what was I thinking...?

Samantha Morris

Honestly what a b.s experience. If I could I would give 0 stars. Waited 15 mins at intake desk and not 1 of the 4 nurses at triage helped the 2 individuals waiting to be checked in. Instead 3 of them stood there speaking to each other while the other one walked away from the desk. Worst decision coming to this hospital

Stu K

Great staff. Nice small-town feel compared to Foothills Hospital.

Elizabeth Chamney

I was recently there for an MRI, I almost never leave my home and wear masks for years before covid due to a disease I have, so when I do go out its kinda a big deal and usually feels good even though its the hosp and for a long scan with multiple drugs etc. Due to my disease I had to stop working years ago even though I loved what I did. I was a flight attendant and wish every day that I was still able to fly. So when I was leaving PLC and making my way to main entrance to wait for my ride, I saw that they were using service carts from aircraft for their screening spot where they stop you for covid screening and supply info, masks, hand sani etc. Well I thought that was great and they were likely donated so I started to take a pic with my phone. I smiled and said to the workers "dont worry im just taking pics of the carts, not you guys!" And was told "excuse me!! You cant take photos!!" I said what?? i cant take pictures in the hosp?? She said "yes you cant take any pics here or anywhere on the property!" I laughed and walked to doors. I was ready to let it go bc even though i know i AM allowed, i could only imagine all the things those ppl have to deal with and she may have been working with some pretty fried nerves, i get it. But then...she sent her colleague to pretend to wipe down the parking payment machine directly behind me to see if I was looking at pics of them on my phone or taking pics over my shoulder. So they paid NO mind to social distancing and were less than 2 inches from me and my face to make sure I wasnt doing something im ALLOWED to do..?!?! Also I have a rare blood/bone marrow disorder that I do chemo for..chemo that is at the top of the list for suppressing bone marrow and immune systems, and on steroids that knock immunity down etc etc etc. THAT is where i drew the line. I moved to other side of entrance and said "wow you guys are terrible! You just took a really nice moment for me and completely ruined it at the same time as putting me in danger for something you had no right to do. So if staff is so burnt out that theyre doing the opposite of what theyre there for, theyre better off not being there at all!! PS: Im posting the pic that put my health/life in danger!

Dianne Clark

Had a great experience when my hubby had an accident and broke his femur - EMT's were great and the emergency staff were also wonderful. I have a problem with some of the negative reviews left here - the woman who had a nosebleed for 45 minutes should have gone to a walk-in clinic instead of clogging up the emergency room, hell I had one on and off for two days and I would only have gone to a clinic first. Stupid woman. Everyone can have a horror story (I have one from the old General Hospital) about hospitals, but it just sounds like from some of these complaints that perhaps their situation wasn't as bad as perhaps a knife or gunshot wound or an immediate heart attack. Just because someone is (unfortunately) in pain, does not mean it is life threatening..As evidenced by that fact that they are alive to tell about it..

Dan Balint

Staff doesnt seem to care, rude, and completely unprofessional. in my honest opinion the hospital needs to purge the staff/management and hire qualified peoples who care about their work, the people, and the hospitals name. start with management, and work their way down.

Nelo Farzi

Peter Lougheed Hospital sucks, we took my niece who had fever and really sick, they DONT take babies health serious, they made us wait more than 4 hours wait and after when I went to ask how long more cuz the baby is really crying he says I don’t know they take 2 hours just to see 2 patients and they nurse was super rude, MUST NOT TAKE CHILDREN TO THIS HOSPITAL cuz they don’t even care about 7 months baby how would they care about older kids, BIG NO to this hospital.

Shannon Mulligan

Amazing! After I had my baby boy they noticed his heart defect before we took him home and got him the help he needed. I will always remember those incredible nurses! They all took very good care of me and my baby boy!

Harmeet

3 houra for emergency. My friend had so bad stomachache he could barely walk. No attention given. Seems like nobody cares. Dont have any other option. Good luck to everyone

Geri Swingler

Oh lord. I had 3 children at peter lougheed. My obstetrician they I love is the only reason I stayed. The nurses here are awful. Absolutely horrible. After my 3rd child here I swore if I couldn't have a midwife then I would deliver my babies myself. That's how bad the nurses here are. Awful. I had some 19 year old scold me for pushing when ones body does that naturally then tell at me for bleeding everywhere after baby was born and she gave me 0 bandages. Worst place ever to have a baby!!!

jacob scorez

Disgusting ER room, absurd waiting times. Nurses barely check up on the ER. Girlfriend got in after almost ten hours, didn't even run major tests - she later found out she has blood-clots in her lungs. Way to go, good job peter lougheed, you could've caught it earlier when she VERY specifically mentioned she was having issues regarding such, and you didn't even check? family doctor confirmed the blood tests didn't check for clots.

Lori Burns

Amazing! The staff were so friendly and helpful. We were treated with respect and kindness.Clean hospital and knowledgeable staff.loved it.

Big A

Most disagreeable, unfriendly, dismissive , rude Nurses i have ever had the misfortune of encountering. Really shockingly horrible bedside manner. Wait time was about 2hrs (not unreasonable), plenty of parking, and doctor was knowledgeable and helpful. However have been to emergency rooms in few different hospitals across the country in my time ,but was shocked and appalled by the behaviour of minor injuries nurses.Something wrong with the culture or enviroment at this place giving 1 star.

Don Rm

Good awful hospital--most of the staff are RUDE and could care less about people. JUST A JOB, AS FAR AS THEY ARE CONCERNED You get a different opinion/information regarding patient care depending on the time of day and who you talk to. I have talked to 3 doctors regarding my mother and they do NOT seem to give a consistent message or communicate with each other. They are only interested in discharging her so that they can free up a bed I have now come to realize that the medical system in this country is BROKEN. If you can afford it, you are better off get superior health care in this country privately. Unfortunately, that is not available to the majority of people (who then have to deal with sub-standard care)

Jada van Breevoort - de Bakker

My boyfriend and I went to the hospital, he had extremely bad chest pain and couldn’t breath, he said his throat hurt and he couldn’t swallow. They did a covid rapid test and said it would take 12 hours to come back. They then took him to get an X-ray. The doctor had the audacity to come in and say he has an infection, but they’re pretty positive it’s covid, WITHOUT test results, not only, numerous people walked by the room saying “this is the room with the covid patient” WITHOUT results. They sent us home telling him to take Tylenol and Advil. They didn’t look at his throat, swab it, or take any of the necessary procedures to ensure my boyfriend got the best results. Instead, they brush him aside and assume it’s covid WITHOUT results!! He later got home and revived an emailing saying his covid test was incomplete and that he needed to take another. Kind of ironic how the doctor was SOO sure he had covid and the test comes back incomplete. My boyfriend then preceded to take a rapid covid test himself, at home, which revealed he was NEGATIVE! He later on figured out he had Strep Throat and is now finally receiving antibiotics. If the doctors and nurses actually took the time to look at his throat and care for him, as it is there job to do so, he would be able to swallow and breath by now but instead had to suffer an extra two days. This is the worst hospital you could ever receive help from. I advise anyone and everyone to go to any other hospital but Peter laughed Hospital.

Rahim Remtulla

Doing a great job especially in this pandemic. Just a suggestion for patients with Asthma maybe try decentralizing and train doctors at other clinics to help share the load and treat patients . 4 hours wait time since checked in seems high. Also with chest pains doing ecg after 2 hours is great . I do believe Doctors at medical clinics are quite capable hence they will be able to help the hospitals to cut down the wait times and expedite services . Still waiting for services atm past 4 hr mark. Stay safe and healthy .

Alnisha Haji

20% of the staff is ver kind and willing to go out of their way for you. 80% of this staff is more interested in gossiping and talking about themselves and being rude to you. If the hospital wasn't so close to me I'd never come to this hospital ever again Because I've been to this hospital a few times due to my disease Trust me if you have a choice don't come to this hospital

Janine Mcdonald

Was sharing a room with a terminally I'll cancer patient and I timed how long it took the nurses to answer his buzzer. 10 minutes later I went out and asked if they could hear the buzzer. Their excuse was they had just changed shift.!!! This man was dying and had soiled himself yet the nurses couldn't afford him the dignity he deserved. Disgusting That being said when rushed to hospital via ambulance the treatment was of a much higher standard. Now waiting in the emergency waiting room despite the letter from my doctor saying I was urgent. I hate this hospital and if I have a prolonged stay I will ask for a transfer. Can't believe there are so many negative comments yet nothing changes

S. G.

Had my achilles repaired by Dr. Ian Le. He is awesome and very skilled. Also, the day surgery staff were so kind and helpful. A+ for all staff at the Peter Lougheed Centre!

Maggie Pie

Respect, dignity are given without a 2nd thought. Yeah, been here alot. Food has improved. Gift shop is fun.

Donna Cao

The Nurses and staff in the NICU were amazing every step of the way while my son was in their care. I’m so thankful that we chose to be transferred to this hospital from the Foothills NICU where he was born. They were caring, kind and helpful.

Madison P

Unit 44 has the most amazing nursing staff! I was there for just under a week and I couldnt imagine a better team to take care of me. I wish there was some way I could thank all of them.

ryan sawchuk

great service.love tjhe great staff ànd đoc. in cast cĺinic.

George George

I had a surgery at this hospital and the total experience was phenomenal. Everyone from doctor to nurse has an incredible bedside manners. The nurses that took good care at me on 2nd floor ICU Robin, Marissa, Morgan are exeptional. God bless you folks.

Lu Wang

When the morning at 6am doctor check with me said I can leave at anytime. But he forgot to discharge me. And now I have been waiting 12 hrs for a doctor to come and sign for my discharge form. For such a big hospital, cant find one doctor within 12 hrs to do that????????????And Im still waiting for it to be done. the chair and bed made my back hurts. It has been 16 hours. And the doctor is still with emergency situation. SO THE DOCTOR is the only doctor who is working for tonight for a such big hospital??? That really doesnt make any sence. They kept asking me if everything is okay. NO, definately not okay. I am dizzyness coz the uncomfortable bed, lack of food and endless waiting, I dont even know what to do or to plan. Also, you have to pay 140 bucks per night for that kind of private room. So if the doctor kept in emergency situation, is that means I have to stay in that uncomfortable room again and pay for the money I shouldnt pay? No one even cares about your concern????????????

Pushwinder Gill

World’s heartless, rude, insensible doctor and nurses work in the emergency department who got very limited knowledge of their jobs. Beware and think twice before heading down there for help.

Ravinder Brar

Be aware folks. This is one of the world’s worst hospital. And of course all other hospitals in Calgary are Way better than this place.whatever they made us go through,no one can imagine.nurses don’t know anything about human body and even most doctors.Don’t go to this place they just don’t care about you life.

Montana Bass

Came here with extreme abdominal pain, getting seen wasn’t too bad but the doctor was rude, then they sent us to the waiting room to wait for an ultrasound and it’s been 2 1/2 hours. Asked for an update and they said they have no idea how long. 10/10 would not recommend. Update, it’s been 6 hours, still haven’t gotten ultrasound. They say it’s “Canada day hours” but this is supposed to be a hospital no? Seriously don’t come here. Waiting room full of people, when they haven’t been calling anyone in for hours. Won’t take my iv out so I can leave and go to a different one.

I had a colonoscopy on Oct.26th,2020.West clinic gi unit, and I was overwhelmed with the care, proffesionalism, the kindness, efficency, and just the energy,of all the staff, that looked after me. This during a pandemic, overworked, and overwhelmed staff. They cared for me ,like Iwas family. I was fortunate,in regards with my results,so yes that msde it even a more pleasant experience. Thankyou to the G.I .west unit clinic, for making me feel welcome, calming my anxieties, your kindness, and your 2nd to none proffesionalism. Blessings! Sincerely yours Travis Firth

Great experience from the young admission clerk, Mandy the first nurse I met in day surgery, to the surgical team lead by Jan, recovery nurse and then the young make nurse back in day surgery. All the staff were knowledgable, professional and very kind. I never felt they didn't have time for me it my questions. My surgeon was terrific.

Amaira Malla

This hospital has to change its Emergency Department system. If we have to wait for more than few hours to see the doctor then whats the use of calling it an emergency department. We value your time and effort please value ours as well. Have some courtesy to be nice to people.

karamjeet sidhu

i had very bad fever, and i went to triage on feb 20 2:00 am. lady on desk very rude. she don’t even listen to me. she said if your family doctor give you medican just take that. i can’t do anything for you. always very bad experience.

Have been to Peter Lougheed three times in the last year (severed a thumb, got stomach flu while pregnant, and delivered our first child). Each time we were treated with great compassion and expertise. For the thumb injury, the plastic Surgeon was amazing and I surprisingly regained full use of my thumb through multiple rehab visits. For the birth of our son, it was really important to have a natural birth and the team of doctors and nurses helped us to achieve that. We had an emergency after the baby was born, but with the quick work of the doctors on staff my baby and I were in good shape in no time. Big shout out to the nurses who helped us through the first night during recovery, you made a scary time much easier. There’s always parking, the layout is easy to manoeuvre, and the staff is great

Shaylin Gilbertson

My dad went in for surgery on Monday, and the whole time he was there they made him feel super comfortable. Even with his overnight stay. As a daughter, the only thing I cared about was making sure my dad was okay and taken care of. All the nurses and staff we interacted with were amazing, and made us feel comfortable with our dads recovery. I felt super confident leaving there that he was in good hands. My dad gave excellent feedback saying that everyone went above and beyond to make sure he was okay. This came down to even him mentioning the people that brought him lunch and cleaned the rooms. They were all excellent people, and super respectful during this time.

Delivery drivers shouldn't have to pay to park or be in danger of getting a ticket. People who order food should meet the drivers at the door. Defeats the purpose of making extra money if a driver has to pay to deliver the customers food or gets a ticket for parking in front of the doors. Nurse was rude and she could have walked across the street to get her food but I drove 5 kms to pick up her food from across the street then had difficulty trying to find parking where I wouldn't have to pay and the only other spot was in front of the doors but it had 5 other vehicles in front of it with NO PARKING signs and patient drop off signs. And my immunity is already weakened by being diabetic so going to a hospital where there's germs everywhere is not good. Will never deliver to PLH again.

Benz Moe

One of the worst hospitals slow and very unprofessional, for you to be admitted you would have to be on the one way street to death and even then they would take there time and then when patients get grumpy after the hours spent waiting they start to give attitude towards them. Very rude staff beds are empty and patients are waiting get your act together this is not a play centre your dealing with lives.

B.R. Hammoud

Why is there a miserable woman answering calls in patient location???? She was hired there to be pleasant and help people find thier friends or loved ones. As soon as I spelled the name of whom I was searching for, she gave attitude, clicked her tongue, muttered something rude, and then hung up on me. Her manners are awful and she gives a horrible representation of the hospital.

sameer savekar

Went there for my only daughter's birth. Had excellent service, straightforward processes at every level of care. Nurses were extremely gentle, knowledgeable, helpful and caring. Stayed there for 3 nights after c section. Post op care and discharge was properly planned. Hygienic practices.

Lowell Gonzales

So Hospitals now refers a clinic? Correct me if Im wrong. Isnt that the Clinics should refer us to go to the hospital? I’ve experienced the worst of the worst service. It sucks

Colleen Grouette

My husband was in Unit 38 from Oct. 29 to December 15. The nurses were great with the exception of a few but the cleanliness is not there at all. The cleaning staff moved at a snails pace and were more concerned with breaks and lunches. Garbage cans were over flowing the floors were disgusting, something definitely needs to be done about the cleaning staff. Also had problems with people stealing our food out of the refrigerator, they were clearly labelled but some people just don't care. The hospital in general is fine but whom ever is in charge of the Cleaning union needs to do something for sure.

I had a very similar experience as the poster below - Montana Bass. Came for an abdominal pain diagnosis on Canada Day and waited several hours before giving up. Initial wait to see a doctor was not bad - 45 minutes but we were told to wait for an ultrasound. Nurse that did bloodwork was terrible and caused so much pain. We were told to wait in the waiting room but after 4 more hours gave up. Doctor was not too friendly when we left. Luckily we went home because I think Montana Bass arrived near the end of our wait before we gave up. Waiting another 6 hours for the ultrasound would have killed us if we had a serious problem.

I suffer cluster headaches that give me seizures I was sent in by ambulance so I was in slippers had my bag pillow and stuffy cause normally I'm admitted to the hospital my doctor has a standing order. I was sent to a bed then two diff chairs given meds I already take at home. Told this will work even though I told them if be back the next day. At 130am I was sent home with no one to pick me up but told I could stay in main area of hospital cause it's warm till someone could pick me up. The hospital wouldn't even give me a taxi voucher since I didn't even have my wallet. I had to call my mom at 130am in BC to send me money so that when I got home from Calgary to Airdrie to pay them once I got home. The treatment I had waß awful and they completely dismissed my doctors orders. So guess what I am taking this to the news and to lawyers and whoever else I can. I don't care about this covid bs when I need to be in the hospital due to so much pain I can't be on my own when I get them for 3 months straight they are called sucide headaches for a reason. I would rather die at home then be treated the way I was last night.

Micheal Perera

Very hard breathing went and told them twice that I have hard time breathing. Seems like they dont care. I have to tell down and cannot breath for them to check out. It's been almost 4 hours. One of the worst emergency ever

S M

Been here all my life and used to only visit this hospital. Nothing good to report at all. Both my cousin and sister had their babies born here, and the nurses treating them would show one face when family was around, and a very rude attitude when no family was around. I sprained my wrist so badly that I could not bend it at all. I went to the emergency at 2am, and was not seen until 8am, at which point they filled me with 6 different pain pills and told me to put ice on it, instead of wrapping it up to any extent. I still suffer from flexibility and resiliency issues with that wrist to this day. The same thing happened when visited for my sprained and severly swollen ankle. Meanwhile, my friends that visit other hospitals get fill wraps and follow-ups for sprains they can still put weight on. Had a finger pierce my eye causing sight problems, swelling, and obvious and dark redness. Went to emergency at 2am, and wasnt seen even until 8am, at which point my eye specialists office opened, and I got a ride there and was seen in 5 minutes. The wait times there are so long in the emergency department, that some homeless people sign up at night under the guise of needing minor treatment and just sleep there on the chairs, wake up in the morning and leave. Security is inept at dealing with them. This hospital services the most crowded and condensed area of the city and they poorly manage this challenge. I will travel an additional 20 minutes to a different hospital rather than this one, given an emergency, from now on.

greg morrison

These people should be ashamed of themselves. I stood there waiting to see a triage nurse for 25 minutes behind nobody having an asthma attack with 3 nurses watching and just chatting away. I am thoroughly disgusted with the total indifference of the so called medical professionals

Emir Kazic

The staff at emergency did an excellent job of taking care of us.

Sandeep Bharti

Worst hospital in the Canada, very rude staff, zero respect as well as care for the patients. Don’t even know how to treat another human. All staff should send back to school to learn basic human ethics.

John Ready

I was a pedestrian whose ankle was mangled by being driven over by a careless driver on Saturday. On arrival at Emergency, I was treated quickly and professionally. Too many names to mention individually. Then a waiting time for surgery in a room on the 5th floor. Monday (Thanksgiving Day), off to surgery. The surgical staff all were terrific! Back to my room for a 2 day recovery and then home after physio review. Even the hospital food was very good! Staff on Unit 52 were all very dedicated folks. Thank you!

Tru Ferguson

Had a D&C done here about 5 years ago. They don't let you change your mind and keep your baby. They will hold you down and sedate you through IV and do the procedure anyways, also inserting an IUD during the procedure (not waiting the 6 week healing period) causing you to bleed for 6 months after, until you attend another hospital to have it removed. Don't worry even when you go into hysterics and scream at them to stop and say No, they'll continue to start the abortion anyways. Once you sign the forms, you're done for so make your decision wisely. You could have kept the stupid money, instead you took my baby no longer having my consent and got your money too.

Tiana Hind

I have baby on Monday March 5 at 7 am. All the nurses and doctors were so supportive. Thank you to all who worked on that day keep up the good work. I would recommend anyone to have there baby here. Very clean and friendly staff

Willington Ortiz

This hospital is one of worst in Calgary, do not go there!

Irvin Fike

Emergency was busy Sunday was 7 hours to get out of emergency departments. But staff were GREAT

Abdelbaqi Allaq

My son was born of the 15th of March, staff in unit 51( labour and delivery) were fantastic. Very hard working, kind and courteous. I really can't thank them enough. I wish I could say our whole experience was that good. Our stay in unit 53 ( post partum) has been terrible call for a nurse often went unheard. We found most staff rude with the exception of our nurse on the second night and the guy who brought us meals the second day. We waited 4 hours to see a discharge nurse and often waited 2 or more hours just to see a nurse regarding medication. Extremely unimpressed with a unit you'd expect to be very caring for new mothers and fathers. As wonderful as the delivery staff was I would not recommend delivering at this hospital.

Eric Patterson

On November 15th, 2016 I had surgery and an overnight stay. I was very impressed with the level of care I received from all departments... from admitting to being discharged. I found the staff very pleasant, caring and most of all friendly and upbeat. Thank you.

Lesli Nguyen

Had my first MRI today and was a bit nervous as it was my first one! The MRI tech were so friendly and really made the process so easy. You could tell the two ladies really love their jobs and care for their patients!

Al Bittle

While at the PLH at 06:30 this morning, my walker broke just inside the lobby doors. The three ladies there got me into a wheelchair and one pushed me to my appointment at immaging. While there another one of them apparently went to maintenance and got what she needed to fix my walker. I can not begin say how thankful I am and how surprised that these ladies woul go so far to help a stranger. Always in their gratitude, Al.

Jatian Sharma

Worst hospital ever nurse's are so rude specialy in unit 49 .u call nurses on and on nobody comes till u alteast call them four times they are sleeping all time on shift. Whenever they come to patients they have eyebags. Talking rude asking patients why you call us what's ur problem. I don't know why hospital hire these useless people who are not honest to their job.if you are less staff hire more people you are getting paid from government and we pay taxes to them.if u can't take care any patients who are sick rather don't make any hospital. Let people suffer because people are suffering in ur hospital too by ur staff getting assaulted.

Hector Naranjo

Waiting room is bad 3 hours to see a doctor, the nurses in bad mood emergency room looks like nothing there is an emergency

iRiDontKorw

The cast clinic operates pretty fast and efficient, having patients in and out of there within an hour or less depending on the type of injuries they have. However, the emergency room wait times were god awful. I went there because of a broken collarbone, and it took them 6 hours to get some x- rays done and to put me in a sling. 6 freaking hours spent there just for that. Something that could've been done in less then an hour.

Deleted Account

Most useless hospital I have ever been too. This one is a perfect example of everything that is wrong in this country. From the rude and royal acting staff to the flies and bugs in the waiting room.

The worst staff anyone has ever had the misfortune of encountering! As a healthcare provider myself, having worked at 3 different hospitals, I am very disappointed as we have been trained to provide the highest care and compassion whenever possible. I am new to Calgary, so this was my first visit ever to the ER at the south entrance, Peter Lougheed Centre. What struck me the most was the lack of human compassion from the staff. The most unforgivable was the triage nurse's blatant rude and uncaring attitude towards a helpless human being who could not fend for themselves. There was no humanity, absolutely no compassion! The triage nurse was the most cruel, uncaring, inhumane nurse - a bully - clearly in the wrong profession. My partner had gotten a wheelchair and helped me into it, and wheeled me in from the parking lot as I was extremely weak, having difficulty breathing, talking, walking, etc due to suffering from COVID for the past 5 days. I also hit my head prior to entering the hospital. Triage nurse was not gowned up, stood about 6ft from me, and did not assess the situation before demanding that I stand up and walk to another chair. Nurse (standing about 6ft away): I need you to stand and walk with me to another chair to wait. Me: I can't (weakly, and shook my head because I had difficulty breathing/talking). Nurse (in extremely rude and condescending tone): How did you get into the wheelchair, you walked didn't you? Note that she did not do a point of care assessment to see if I could stand. She was not there when I got onto the wheelchair, and assumed I'd be able to walk to the wheelchair on my own. Since I was having difficulty breathing and unable to talk, rather than trying to explain why I couldn't stand... I tried to stand as she demanded and lost my balance and fell back into the wheelchair. And when everyone looked over at us, she, grudgingly and clearly annoyed, wheeled me into the waiting room and quickly did my vitals. She did not introduce herself or give me any relevant information. I felt helpless. I would not wish this on anyone. As a front line healthcare provider myself, I am deeply disappointed. I hope that more training/education will be provided to enhance patient care as I believe that as healthcare professionals, we should be held accountable for these actions. These situations should be monitored to prevent these types of incidences from happening again in the future. Side note: there was one nurse in the isolation zone who was very kind and attentive, despite how busy it was. She reflected all the AHS values (compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and safety) that this triage nurse neglected to display.

Richard Johnston

I was a patient in Feb. 2015 at this facility for hip replacement surgery. Staff at all levels-administration, nurses, cleaning staff were excellent. Clean facility and I was treated very well by all!

ParrotCode

I had hernia surgery yesterday and whole experience was first class. I received fantastic care and attention. Everyone I met was both profession and caring. Amazing treatment thank you.

Raoul Bazin

Staff is Very NICE ????

Emily McGregor

We had to get my mom an ambulance last night, the paramedics were amazing and thorough. When she got into the hospital, about 1:45-2:00 am, she waited until about 6am to see a doctor, wasn't given any food or water. The doctors and radiologist were extremely rude and not gentle at all. When she complained of pain from what they were doing, he responded with "why" and an eye roll. Very dissapointed in our medical system.

Ronda Segriff

You come in with breathing issues by ambulance and they just say it's anxiety and made me sit in a chair didn't do anything and then I see dr 6 hours later and he just gives me paper and tells me to do this ... And when I had to sit 3 times to be able to walk out of that hospital and then I got asked if I wanted to do back I was like f that and went to my to my family dr the same evening and he did more investigation then the drs at the PLC did

Ariana Souza

I don't understand why with a big cut in the hand we are waiting 3 hours to see a doctor. Unfortunately nobody cares about helping people in this place. Alberta Health Services is the worst in Canada.

Lisa Groves

My husband had to go in for an emergency. I was not allowed to go in with him because of covid restrictions that was awful but the staff blonde male in green scrubs at the emergency screening were kind and helped him get from the main door to the emergency room. The two women one wearing a scrub cap and face shield and the other was wearing a black Polo shirt with the ahs logo on it with glasses at the desk told me if there was anything he needed I could bring it back to them and they would bring it to him. I was so grateful and their kindness helped me.

George Clooney

Incompetent and rude nurses.. SO came in for abdominal pain and vomiting (4th time here for this btw...) I have EMR training and asked the nurses and doctors MULTIPLE TIMES if they could preform a full stomach ultrasound. All they wanted to do was give her hydromorphone (big suprise) and fluids and send her home. Nurse also left bloody IV equipment and gloves at the foot of her bed, and told her to puke in her stool collection bin if she was experiencing naseua. On a side note, seems like PLC or someone related is posting 5 star reviews under the pretense of clients to try and raise the google rating... seriously not cool guys.

Alicia Jessy

I was a student and did my practicum here 2 years ago the staff just treated the patients terrible... There were definitely cases of elderly patient abuse by the staff in the Lab AND nurses as well. There was one staff member I was shadowing who I hope is fired by now, I couldn't believe the way she took her anger out on the needles as she would grab the patients arm and literally stabbed them with anger each time... She hated her job and took it out on the patients. I was afraid to speak up at the time as my job was on the line. My job is no longer on the line yet my memory and bad impression of the place never faded. Definitely find your family members a better hospital to be in unless it's an emergency! And even then your probably better off not coming to this hospital at all.

Yongtao Wang

Dr Lee and staff in cast clinic are professional and kind, but the appointment system does need some improvement. Thanks for all your hard work.

Emily Lynne

I gave birth to my daughter at this hospital and was treated very well the entire time. The nurses went above and beyond for me during a very hard delivery. 5 years later I had a major surgery in which I had complications and they were very fast to get all the testing done and keep me informed on what was going on. Maybe I got lucky but every staff member I have dealt with there was lovely to me especially the doctors. Best hospital I've been to in Calgary.

Doug White

I had a heart lung issue and the staff was amazing especially the cardiac staff, kept me calm, yes there is a wait but that’s expected in a hospital, Absolute professionalism.

Baker 101

Worst, dreaded hospital. I delievered my baby here and the doctors messed up everything. Because of their horrible negligence I had a third degree tear and took a year to heal. They refused to give me even a sip of water when I was suffering during the 12 hours of labour and delivery. Never go with this hospital. After care nurses were rude and insensitive. They did not provide any kindness, support or care that I hear all other mothers generally get during delivery. I don’t know what problem they had but I curse this hospital

Cailyn Cardinal

I went to the emergency, the staff are friendly, understanding, very welcoming. I was seen right away the nurse on duty was very welcoming and caring! The doctor was friendly and very helpful. The facility was maintained and clean. I just want to thank Peter Lougheed Centres Staff (medical receptions, nurses, doctor, and housekeeping) all staff for what you do! I see a lot of negative comments but if your patient, they will be patient and direct with you. Thank you so much for your help! And the hard work you do for our people!

Robin Travadi

PLEASE READ THIS..Doesnt even deserve a star. Worst hospital period. All they do is let you diagnose yourself, they do no work ever unless your dying. And let my sister die before doing anything. They ignored her condition after pregnancy and she lost 75 percent of her blood, needed multiple blood transfusions before bring her back to life. The entire time my sister was trying to tell the doctors and nurses something was wrong but they did nothing until she was dead because of internal bleeding. And then they had the oddasity to lie and say they didn't know what was wrong, because they knew what was wrong as soon as they reopened her up, fixed whatever the problem was recessitated and then brought her back to life. How does that happen if u didn't know what was wrong? Please save yourself all the pain and heart aches and don't go there.

Joi Huggard

If I could say zero stars I would. Sad really. Many of the nurses on unit 43 are clearly burnt out. However some are wonderful. The nurse practitioner - well shes a whole story in herself. She controls 60 year olds by revoking outdoor priveleges if they dont finish their whole food tray within 30 minutes. seems a bit harsh to me. Oh and she doesnt allow homecooked meals till after you eat the designated hospital meal tray first.

Omolara S.

I had my baby here in August and it was a pleasant experience for me. I wonder why this place is poorly rated. The nurses are kind and work their butts off and I appreciate that. I gave them 4 stars because the place was very busy (not their fault though) and I couldn't get a bed in Labour and Delivery. After waiting for hours I was given two options to either keep waiting at the triage or go home and expect them to call me when a bed was available. I chose the latter and they kept to their promise. My nurses were awesome all through my labour and they involved me in my care till the very end.
