Had an ablation done on September 2nd by Dr. Lockwood. He is an excellent surgeon. The support people were also excellent. I felt very comfortable there. My surgery was a success and I am able to get off of two medications. 3 days out I feel much better. Very grateful for the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute.

I am so thankful and grateful for the brilliant Dr. Neeva Nagendren and the amazing nurses and staff at the Mazankowski. My son Waylon, underwent minimal invasive heart surgery to repair the hole in his heart. He received exceptional care by Christina, Meagan W. and Chris in CICU and Julie, Tamara, Serena, Hailey, Theresa, Jocelyn, Darlene, and Laura on 4A5/6 ward. There were countless other nurses and staff members that I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting. Waylon was overwhelmed by the kindness and caring of all the individuals at the Maz. Thank you Dr. Abdul Bagafar for your patience, explanations and care during his recovery. The hospital is immaculate with a beautiful healing garden. It is an exceptional place to be for such a stressful time. Thank you.

World leaders in cardiac health and care. Lives are saved here how else could you not rate it other than a five. I was not a patient but visiting and the building is new and clean. There is a beautiful healing garden. It doesn’t seem like a hospital as it is open and airy feeling in many places. A well designed building

I wanted to point out that these people made my husbands 33 days stay on Ecmo at the Mazonkouski Hospital a fantastic experience that I will forever be grateful for. The receptionist is very self-centered. Butting herself and her rules over the patient personal issues. And act like the manager of the hospital. She called the techs "my tech". And for some reason not clear enough for me the incharge tech is supporting her attitude or her desires.

I saw my Cardiologist in this hospital last summer and she referred me to an echocardiography. My doctor was so professional. After waiting 5 months, I had the echo ultrasound last month and I had a very bad experience with ultrasound tech Rebekah.She was rudely asking my name and yelling at me to change.I was so upset, I didn’t know what she was asking me.During scanning, Rebekah was pressing the probe so hardly against my chest even though I was complaining about pain she was ignoring me. After digging my parasternal / chest area with the probe , she called a supervisor to obtain the parasternal view. I came home in tears and I still have chest pain to this day from my experience. I cannot believe how this kind of tech can work in one of the world’s most known institutions.

I'm a physician and been visiting ICU almost daily to see a friend. I was impressed by quality of nurses working there. Unlike nurses in regular units who are coach potatoes, these ladies know their job and they are mostly very friendly. The unit rotates the doctor, nurse and therapist on a daily basis and in my view it's. Better for. One team to. Care for. The difficult cases so the continuity of care maintained. Many thanks. For. My husband had an angiogram procedure ,on August 20 /2020 .Cant say enough ,how easy and painless ,the procedure was. The staff was great ,very caring, and accommodating . The only reservation we have ,is in regard to the parking ,it took more than 20 minutes to find ,a parking spot ,to pick me up.. I am sure there must be a better way ,to accommodate ,an easier way to allow for a faster pick up of a patient ,to free a bed ASAP Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Kalman

On April 4 I was brought here from Jasper where I had suffered a chest pain. An open heart surgery was performed on me by the great team of doctors here. It’s a great facility that is serving Albertans. Thanks to the fantastic nurses and doctors who helped me.

Had a dual chamber pacemaker installed and loop recorder removed on Friday at 1pm, home by supper. Monday morning and at 90%! No pain and mostly full range of motion as long as arm is under head. Cheers and hats off to the Dr.s and nurses, first class care in a world class facility. People who earn every bit of the respect they deserve. THANK YOU..... Update.... it's now been just shy of my first year with my pacemaker and aside from looking a tad bumpy in the shoulder area you'd never know I had the thing. Next appt. I want to inquire about getting a 3D tattoo over the darn thing. As for the medical follow up, TOP SHELF! Always treated with professionalism, respect and dignity. This place really cares about whoever is luckily unluckily having heart problems nearby.

I cannot imagine a situation which would have me going to Mazankowski hospital for any other heart work. Rating one star because there is not zero available. After 3 trips to Emergency in 2 months to stop my racing heart I went to Mazankowski for heart surgery. I had atrial fibrillation and was to have a PVI and CTI operation. The operation was on Feb 1, 2021 8 am and I was released the following day at 10 am. Under “complications” on my release package of papers it was marked “none”. I was to go back to work in 1 or 2 days. I was later to find out that both were far from correct. The prep time was 2 hours, the surgery was 5.5 hours, the recovery time was 4 hours so instead of having a Foley catheter for the long surgery, I was not given one. I have all the conditions which are concern for a Foley catheter being installed for operations that long. I complained as soon as I woke that I had to go to pee. I was not allowed to try until after 11.5 hours and by then couldn’t. I was discharged having not passed urine for 28 hours. My discharge papers had no advice what to do if I retained urine. I presumed the pain had to do with my surgery as I was discharged with the pain. The first time I passed urine was the Feb 6th (6 days after my surgery) at 10 pm when a Foley catheter was installed at the hospital Emergency and over 7 times the acceptable urine (2.3 liters) was taken out of my bladder, which fortunately did not burst. That was the start of 5 visits to Emergency, 2 visits to a specialist, over 6 weeks of infections, 8 catheter and probes lasting weeks, and a lot of pain. All this time was while I was supposed to be recovering so I imagine that my heart did not have the best recovery time. I now find that the new issues will likely last indefinitely. I contacted AHS and I was not happy with the response. I discussed the issues with the surgeon, who took no responsibility.
