The doctors are professional and competent; the staff are friendly and helpful; and there is excellent guidance regarding which frame styles look best on each individual. I started getting pre screened for Glaucoma last year, they told me i was due in December for testing. They never called me, no emails, texts or anything. I called to book an appointment, they told me i wasnt required to visit, i only need an exam every 2 years. A few months later i booked in for a sore eye, and they wouldnt stop criticizing me for not missing my aledged apointments for the Glaucoma screening, that they never followed up about. I Switched my family to Aurora Eye Care.

Been going here for years because sadly it's the only place to go in town other than walmart or costco. Have yet to have one appointment ever occur on time, you schedule for a specific time show up and they make you wait for up to an hour to get into see the doctor sometimes.

Husband and I made last minute appointments back to back. The receptionists were friendly and polite. We went in and saw Jeremy Begalke together, we got in very quickly and didnt have to wait long at all. He was wonderful; soft spoken, polite, wonderful bedside manners. I had to bring our new 10 week old puppy in a bag and he gave the puppy a quick eye exam, it was adorable.

DO NOT GO HERE! Would give a 0 if I could. TERRIBLE customer service. My mom has been a client/customer since she was young and has problems for the first time with getting her eyeglass prescription right and when she asked for a refund when I couldn’t be corrected they told her to never come back again or order glasses from them. I have never heard of such a thing in my entire life!! Not a place that deserves support from anyone in the community. When it was Northern Vision Centre the service was AMAZING but now since changing over it’s been dreadful to say the least...so sad to see a long time business in the community go downhill so badly :(

After being told that I needed my eyes checked yearly for an issue, I informed them that for my benefits to cover this, I would need a letter from the optometrist. I reminded FYI about that letter several times, but it was never sent to me. I'll be going elsewhere now.

Update April 25, 2019: I previously left a very negative review due so some exceptionally poor service we received. We decided to try going back one more time because we have had good success with the optometrists there. We have since received better service. Some employees are a lot nicer and more willing to help than others. Overall the customer service is hit and miss but the doctors are good. I’ve updated my rating to reflect that.

This is technically a half star... I couldn't believe the amount of issues I have been experiencing with this clinic. Total money grab! When the doctor seen me for an eye exam, first thing she was pushing after everything was to promote their new type of lenses for their glasses. She also recommended that I use dailies for contact lenses because I have been stretching my bi-weeklies but I can correct my bad habits myself. Didn't seems this way when I tried to get contacts. The receptionist (not sure exactly about her title) didn't want to sell me bi-weeklies as I was "recommended" dailies. So then I asked "But this is a recommendation right? I don't think it means "mandatory"". She didn't seem impressed but then went to look if they had some in stock which I had called the day prior to order and the lady told me they were in fact available. Turns out she was looking at the wrong prescription on my file and the ones I actually needed weren't. I then asked if they had trials so I can change the ones that I am not suppose to "stretch" but I was told they didn't. I requested to have some ordered and she said she would, I asked how long, I was told a week..... A WEEK? I asked to be phoned when they receive, they said sure! I then phoned a couple days later to inquire about my eye prescription as I am actively looking to take my business elsewhere and in the mean time I asked if by any chance my contacts were in. She asked if I had paid for them? I said, "no one asked me to, that they would phone me." The lady replied that they wouldn't order without a payment first...... SO I WAS GONNA WAIT HOW LONG? Good thing I was looking at different options because I am currently stretching my contacts and have no help from this clinic because they pretty much don't care about you.... Save yourself the troubles and don't go there. Thanks for reading.

We have typically had decent services but I always find it's a long wait. We switched to a different optometrist but had broken glasses that are not very old so went back to see if they are on warranty. They still had warranty but not for that specific issue. The first lady that helped us was friendly but apparently you need to book an appointment to look at frames on the weekend. Since my son cannot see without his glass they did a bit of a fix for us and said to come back Monday. They had staff that were not helping people and it was not very busy. I work during the week so cannot bring him during the day. I was able to get new ones for him someplace else same day.

Love FYIdoctors! I started seeing Dr. Bayer a few years ago and not only is she super knowledgeable but also very personable and receptive to questions and concerns. I also recently picked out new frames with Dani (I believe that was her name, been a while now) and she was a great help. Dani made suggestions while still allowing me to come to my own conclusions, she was also very patient and provided great insight to the process. They were also running a back to school special which saved me over $100 on my frames!

I goto this place for the doctor... There are a few great ones. Dr. Heath is the greatest!! Very thorough, and explains everything in detail, he’s super friendly, and was on time with my appointment. Doctors like him make a company. I don’t care if I have to wait 30 mins past my appt time to allow him to give every customer this experience.

Poor poor customer service. Ordered my frames for my glasses 2 months ago and they still haven't came in yet. After many phone calls and visits there's nothing they can or will do to help in any way. After being told I can't get a refund I was forced to select a new pair of frames and they still haven't got them ready yet. Wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Poor customer service and just a rude attitude from the staff in general

Just recieved assistance from Rachelle in the contacts department today and she was exceptional. Extremely swift and accommodating service. First off, I've never walked in here and NOT waited an hour to see someone. Never, not once. Second, I ordered two pair of glasses and was told 3-4 days they'd be in. 3 weeks later and ONE pair has finally arrived... And they're crooked. Not straight at all. Second pair no where to be found yet. And lets be clear... you WILL pay a premium for your glasses here. Which I assume would be to cover the "personalized service" and "top notch quality". I certainly did NOT get my "premium" money's worth.... The staff is friendly and helpful when you finally get to talk to them, but there's far too much waiting around and the quality of their products is questionable at best. By all means, visit the optometrist (That part of the process was great) but just get your prescription and fill it elsewhere.

The only place I use for eye care. I have tried to purchas frames and lenses from walmart and Costco, but times I had issues with either wrong perscription or poor made frames that did not last a year. Over the years I have purchased 2 frames from fyi and I still use them to this day. I have gotten new lenses hassel free, as my perscription has changed. The staff here are amazing, from the ladies at the front, doctors and to people who work in the frames and contacts department. Everyone if friendly, compassionate and informative. Fyi you have my business as long as I live here!

Dr Joel Heath is a honest, forthright and genuinely has a primary focus on your longterm eye health. Even though this is not the fastest appointment, you can always be assured that he’s thorough. In an industry where prescriptions for new eyewear are sometimes handed out based on the need to meet a sales quota, he only has your best interests and eye health in heart. It’s refreshing.

I too experienced the same as Rodney. In the last five years, the two times I have gotten new glasses there I have been unsatisfied. Paid big bucks, with all the frills on the lenses, but still had trouble with the progressive lenses lining in the right place and struggled with trying to find where to look through the lenses to see well. They can't measure well. Went back several times, and no success - told there was nothing wrong with the lenses. Then when I got a deep scratch before the year warranty was up I too was unable to get the glasses fixed, exchanged or returned. Have gone back to my old glasses as I can see well with them. Have an appointment with SEARS next month, hear they are good as well as Walmart and Costco, know people who use them over NVC. NVC is a classy place, bright lights and all the frills, but the end product is costly and poor. An unhappy customer as well.

(please know that glasses are not actually supposed to be +$600.00 PER PAIR) My mom and I also both received multiple text and phone calls this week about appointments, but haven't actually been patients for over 10 years. Ive been harassed and yet they will text requesting I give them a time that I'm available for an appointment but yet refuses to stop calling even after I've told them I'm their patient anymore and do not require their services. Go to Edmonton for your glasses!!! The whole trip will be cheaper and you can get +2 pairs of glasses.

I was really impressed with the attention to detail at FYI. From the front desk to the doctors to the opticians, everyone was friendly and helpful. We were especially impressed by Jessica who helped me pick frames for my two year old. She even took my two toddlers for a walk around the place so I could make an important call. Fine doctor and clinical resources (the doctor was fantastic but he did send me right along to the sales team and it seemed like they REALLY tried to blur the medical/sales line to keep you engaged and start buying stuff), but when I asked to get Rx information to buy a SCUBA Diving mask, they would only provide the Rx. When asked about getting the Pupillary Distance measurement, which is a simple answer, they told me that it would cost $50. I have gotten this answer for free at other places without issue. Another example of an Optometrist / Opitician trying to milk every penny. VERY disappointing to see them take the low road on issues like this. Now, I'll just go elsewhere and buy my glasses at whomever gives me that distance measurement for free. To clarify, I am buying the SCUBA Mask online through the manufacturer and some new glasses at an actual Optical store that gives me that number without complaint.

First time customer at FYI Doctors in Grande Prairie. What a great experience from the time I entered the office to the time I left which was after closing. Anne was a wonderful person full of energy and completed all the pre exams. Explained every step in detail on what she was doing and the reasons why. Very upbeat and positive person. DR Diakur was absolutely amazing once again she took the time and explained each step of the process while completing my eye exam. Took the time after the exam to provide an overview of my eyes. Next was Tanah who assisted me in selecting new lenses and frames. She explained all the options available and was simply amazing in ensuring she had taken the correct measurements and that everything she was doing was explained in great detail. There was never a rush to get this process completed even though the office was closed at the end of my visit. Must be noted Tanah has a great eye on what frames will fit you and that they look good on you. Thanks again for being treated like a valued customer by the amazing staff. I'll definitely be returning.

I was working in GP and needed an eye exam before I could reorder my contacts from my previous supplier. I was referred to FYI from a friend. Excellent experience. I was able to book an appointment right away, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Dr. Whitney Diakur was very professional and helpful, she took the time to go through my exam and explain everything to me. Dr. Diakur, set me up with a new prescription for my contacts that are working perfectly. When I checked prices on their contacts, FYI was $60 cheaper for a 3 month supply than anywhere on the internet, but honestly, if they were more I would have paid it just because of the service. I live in Red Deer and they shipped them to me for free. I would highly recommend this establishment.

It has been many years since I had been to this optometrist but they had the nano frames my son wanted so we went there. The initial order process went not too bad. After about 2 weeks which was faster then quoted we got a call the frames were in. We arrived at about 430pm and there was 2 people in line ahead of us. We waited some time probably over 20 minutes during this time someone ahead of us in line gave up and left. There was over 7 staff and each time they were done helping someone instead of calling us over they went and did something else...I remember now that this is the exact reason why I stopped coming here it's like they dont care. When we were finally called over the girl who helped us was nice but during the adjustments of my Sons new glasses she broke the arm...and while I know this was not intentional, how she handled it was not great. "Of course this is covered under warrenty" she said..I hope so since you broke them I thought. What she should have done was grabbed an arm off another similar frame so he could use the glasses and then order the correct piece. This resolution was not offered ....or maybe even offer me a discount or something, since I did drive across town and spend almost an hour there just to pick up some glasses. Either way not a great experience.

Great service has kept me coming back time after time. The staff are professional and having the long-term care of consistent physicians (Dr. Brezac) is a peace of mind. It seems like other eye places often pop up and fade away, but this clinic is a place I have counted on for over 20 years.

Michael Litchfield at FYI is fantastic! Last February (2018) Michael discovered that I had a gigantic retinal tear. Within a little more than an hour he had contacted the Retinal Institute in Edmonton sent my scans and file to them and arranged an open open appointment that same day with Dr Mark Greves at the Retinal Institute in Edmonton. I made it to Edmonton at 430 pm that day and after Dr Greves verified Michael's findings I was scheduled for surgery the next morning. Michael's attention to detail and ability to calmly explain that my priority that day was to get to the Retinal Institute in Edmonton made it easier to focus on accomplishing that task! I really appreciate his attention to detail during the many follow up post-op visits I have had in the following 10 months. I have a 34 year old daughter who is legally blind and also has down syndrome... She has never been able to see more than 2-4 inches clearly. Dr. Jeffries spent a fair amount of time with her and was not willing to give up on her. He managed to change that 2-4 inches into six feet of clear vision !!! It may not seem like much to many people but to my daughter it is a whole new world. She can read text messages from 6-8 inches away... Read her clock from seven feet away. I can't thank him enough for what he has done for her and how much he has improved her life.

quick service, knowledgeable optometrists, helpful staff!!!! I am new to Alberta and GP and needed an optometrist that really knows there stuff as I have some optical challenges. They were so helpful to accommodate my work schedule and have evening appointments! Then from the moment I walked in the door, everyone was welcoming and helpful! Dr. Jeremy Begalke took the time to really understand and help fix those challenges I have struggled with for years. I couldn't be more impressed. The knowledge and experience here certainly rivals that of large cities. The helpful staff make it a pleasure to go in. I would recommend them to anyone!

I love this place, the doctors are great, they have the latest medical equipment. I like that it's so precise. The tests tell you about the arteries behind your eyes and there's one that looks for cataracts and glaucoma. The selection of frames is amazing, there's so many to pick from. My favorite girl is Kendra, she's been my ophthalmologist for about 6 years now (I have a really tricky prescription) and have never been disappointed. The contacts department is really great as well, they work hard to find lenses that have great results. Again the tricky prescription has come into play. Their store is spotless and they pay great attention to the covid sanitizing protocols. If I could give 10 stars ???? I would ????

Called on a Saturday because my eye was swollen and extremely sore and they said they were all booked up and couldn't see me. Went to a clinic and they didn't know what to do eventually ended up at emergency 12 hours later because the pain was bad and that doctor didn't know what to do either but he did put me a bunch of viral drops and pills and told me see an optometrist first thing Monday morning along with pain killers all weekend. Won't be going there ever again.

Absolutely terrible experience. Waited for the optometrist for 40 minutes as other customers getting served around i finally asked why i was having to wait while others getting served and was told i would be helped shortly. was a good experience with the doctor but then went to get my prescription filled sitting in a chair at the counter. Again customers walking in the front door getting served before me i finally walked out. I was there almost 3 hours!!!!!! Something is seriously wrong there stay away. After leaving the manager called me to apologize and offered me a discount to remain a customer i don't think i will take her up on it.

I just spoke with Hailey on the phone. I was aquiring about a set of glasses that needed repairing. Her customer service over the phone was incredible! She was extreamly polite. She did not know the answer right away and made sure to comfirm the correct information. It is very apparent that she was well trained in her position as she conducted her self in a very professional manner. This is why I do my buisness at FYI. The customer service is always great.

Better they may shut down their business if they don't want to provide REASONABLE service to their customers or if they made enough money through the business. There are businesses out in town to provide good service to public. Improper hidden response to every question. How the customer know about their product service details unless they explain to the customers? Not at all impressed. very rude and irresponsible service. Is that their level of service standard or a discrimination? I don't recommend any one who ever I know to visit there. Entered in with happy and out with FRUSTRATION.

I had been shopping online for eye wear regularly. But too many pairs didn't fit well or look as good as I hoped. After eye exam I decided to try buy glasses locally. As a Consultant a professional image is very important to me. But having somebody I don’t know helping me pick glasses always gave me concerns. The team at FYI provided excellent service. Their calm and sincere approach waylaid my anxiety and made me comfortable getting help picking the right pair of glasses. They helped me pick out a distinguished pair that I might not have picked myself but I like them very much. They fit well and the team payed attention to my concerns and took the time to make sure I was happy. I have a larger head and sensitive ears. These are all day comfortable. I was satisfied with the glasses and bought prescription sunglasses as well. They fit, stay in place well and I have received many positive comments on them. I have since returned and bought a pair of sunglasses. I enjoyed the positive atmosphere and collaborative effort of the team. Having a positive experience and some tasteful help in picking out eye wear is worth more than a online savings and a uncomfortable fit.

Had the very best experience at FYI Doctors today. Abby assisted me in finding the absolute best frames. She was so kind, patient, and professional as she helped me pick my frames. Abby was also very skilled in taking my measurements to ensure my glasses would fit just perfect. I didn't realize how detailed FYI is in making sure my glasses would be perfect. I usually bought from Clearly and hoped for the best when they arrived. With Abby's help I know with 100% certainty that my glasses are great fitting.
