This clinic doesn't care about patients health. I am mask exempt. They know that but when I went in for an appointment today the 'office manager' preesured me for 'proof'. Under Alberta law right now proof is not required. She adked me more than twice after I told her that proof is not required. Of note U was in the same clinic within the last 2 weeks, maskless without a problem. Now I am barred from entering the premises again and have to find a new doctor. All because the employees of the ckinic don't kniw the rules surrounding mask exemptions. Been going here fir years!! .

Absolutely awesome to deal with really short wait times and if they are busy can give good estimate so you know how long you have to do other stuff and all doctors ive dealt with are amazing and DR. Johannes Koen went above and beyond and helped me fix a mistake on my drivers medical by another name walk in clinic and also a few other things and refunded the cost of a second driver medical absolutely recommend discovery walk in

The receptionist was rude, disrespectful, down right unpleasant. Dressed in a dirty hoody. I understand it's Sunday, it's busy, or she may have been having a bad day. What she didn't know when she chose to be so rude, was I spent my last week with a sick child in the hospital. To have my other daughter get sick. My daughter suffers with social anxiety, and didn't want to come back in fear of her treating us poorly. So my daughter would have rather suffered than chance another experience like that. I asked to speak to a supervisor was told there isn't one. She ripped my ID from my hand. Rolled her eyes when I asked why they need my ID for my daughter. I was at the hospital 2 days earlier and they never asked me for it. She could have just explained that verses make me feel and look uneducated infrong of my daughter. I have never been to this clinic for myself, but have brought an associate here. When we returned the other receptionist was pleasant, and soft spoken. Quite enjoyable.

Used to be my convenient clinic since it's close to home. I found a better clinic where the walk ins are more organised and once you go in on your time, a Dr sees to you right away compared to Discovery. Reception here can be improved w more care. I know it's a busy place but if I were them on a phone, I'd be more patient seeing that there are people on the other line who want a thorough conversation to get to the next task. Star goes from some reception and some careless overworked Doctors, star goes from time management.

From when I walked in the door it took 16 minutes to receive treatment. 16 MINUTES! I've never had such rapid service for a non scheduled visit to a clinic! The staff are very polite and thorough, the doctors are understanding, respectful, and concise. 10/10

Doctors are great staff is friendly, came here for years but stopped recently due to the fact that they will set an appointment and request you to be there 15 mins early but then keep you waiting in a room full of sick people for 1.5 + hours. Example. We had ad appointment at 10 am the other day, arrived at 9:50 and were not brought into the back room until after 11. Place wasnt super busy and the appointment was booked a month ago. The doctors and staff are all great here but st Mary's, village mall walk in and Taylor's medical dont do this. When your booked in at a cirtain time they get you in within 10/20 mins of that time, usually right away. Sad to this clinic adopting endless waits on planned appointments as a new standard.

Ive been to this clinic a lot, and in the last year I had been in to see Dr F sbout my scolisis back pain. She sent a request form to a peditrician back specialist and months later no phone call to book an appointment. Then I go see another Dr he sent a request form in to another back specialist in edmonton still np word. Next i walk back in to talk to the reciptionsit to tell me the request wasnt sent in and proceeds to tell me Dr F was the only one who sent the request in but the wring one because we callex that specialists office and they got no request and thats when we found out it was the pedictrican back specialist. So after i twlk to the meanist female staff member she told me to call the manager who really deals witu the medical request forme for tests or referals. I was so livvid. Im scared to call them. my scoliosis has been super painful and i did all xrays and im suppose to get it checked out. Dr F has bad bedside manners i can barely hear her speak and she barely explains anything at all

I agree pretty much with all the statement in here. Doctors are really good but reception really really sucks. There is one young lady that works front counter (not sure if she is still there) rude to you in public, on the phone and she always sounds miserable especially on the phone. Its like you are bothering her. Well if you don't like customer service maybe then you shouldn't work a front counter. There have been a few times where I would have loved to smack her. If you want to get in right away the best thing is to be there first thing in the morning when they open. Otherwise this is a good place to go to.

I am getting very frustrated this is the second day I’ve tried phoning to book an appointment and the line is busy. The front desk ladies are rude and I feel like my doctor is not taking me serious when It comes to mental health issues but it’s hard finding a doctor that is reliable. Last time I waited for an hour after my booked time and then talked to my doctor for like 5-10 minutes max. Very rushed and I’m considering going somewheres else at this point.

Doctors are really good here. The receptionists suck the big onion!! When I asked to see a doctor the girl said it will be an hour wait. No problem I'll wait. 2 hours go by and when I asked how much longer the girl argued with me about the wait she said no I haven't been waiting that long. Really I walked in at 10:28 it's now 12:31. That's 2 hours. She asks my name rudely then says I'm next, wait to be called. When she does call me she almost slams the door closed.

Came here for a drivers medical after reading a review on here about a cheap drivers medical. Was really happy to find out they charge $60 cash only. Also I lined up 10 mins before opening and got in right away to avoid line ups.

I really don't have a problem with Discovery medical in general, but it is their new hours that is a problem I use to be able to seek in there after work if I need to, but now that they close at 6 I can't, and forget about the weekend they are closed before they are open basically closing at 2.

I had to go to the walk in clinic for an ear infection, on a Sunday while visiting here from out of town. They got me in very quickly, the staff were all kind, and the clinic was clean. The doctor I saw (Dr. Grimbeek) was very nice. Would absolutely recommend. Thank you for such great service.

Discovery Medical Clinic on 34th street and Gaetz Avenue Red Deer is a very busy clinic, but a good one. It is always really tidy and sanitized. I've been going there for many years. They take appointments as well as take walk-in patients. Sometimes there is a long wait time, depending on the time of year. But they do try to keep wait times reasonable. Some of the doctors offer better care than others, but all in all, I've had mostly good experiences there. Also, it is super convenient having the I.D.A Pharmacy right next to Discovery Clinic. This pharmacy is great with filling prescriptions quickly.

This place is an absolute disaster when it comes to organizational skills and the front desk girls. The front office staff are absolutely horrendous and rude and have no business in the medical field in any capacity or dealing with human interaction. I Waited over 2 hours, when I asked how much longer I was told at least an hour and a half wait to see ANY doctor. The front desk little girl with dark brown/black hair and blue eyes is beyond rude and rolling her eyes at people as she works, and dismissed anyone she spoke to in such a rude way it was disgusting!

we’ve never had any problems at this clinic, but the front ladies were extremely rude to us. not only that, but we got there at 9AM. there was no one, so they told us to get back at 10:30am, we got there at 10:15am. they told us at i’n 40 minutes, so we waited. then i asked again, because a lot of walk-ins seemed to be getting there before us, they told us 10 minutes more. we spent there over 3 hours and the ladies at the front were not friendly at all. i understand you can’t tell time, but the fact that walk-ins after us were getting there faster than us— not appointments, but walk-ins. oct 10th, morning. hope you can improve this behaviour. simple kindness is not hard.

Great Doctors! Great MOA's (reception)....with the exception of a young lady whom used to work there from opening until about a year ago, blonde, VERY RUDE! But all is well now, all of these people work very hard for us to be of good health... hence the wait times, it's because they are great at what they do. And the Pharmacists and techs, wow! Couldn't ask for better they have definetly saved my life on a few occasions, very easy to talk to and deal with:).....as for the guy with chest pains, they should have told you to call or have called for you an ambulance, i agree. If you ever have chest pain no matter how old or young you are, DEFINITELY call 9-1-1, DON'T wait for a heart attack!

I'm giving this 5 stars because I love all the Dr's that work at this clinic, always very informative and not quick to prescribe useless medication for my boys. They never rush you out but are very efficient with their appointments. But..... I would have to say, I agree with most reviews on here about the counter staff. There are two women there that are so incredible cold and rude. Normally I can shrug that off as someone having a bad day but it is EVERY time we are there. If you don't like working with people, perhaps look into a different career.

Dr.Grimbeek is the greatest dr there for me he listens to what you have to say then does what's needed and does not force meds down your throat. The doctors here are phenomenal and really take the time to listen and address all your health concerns, even when it is packed in the waiting room and they haven't had a break all day or chance to even eat their lunch. In addition, the nurses and medical admin staff here are on top of their game. They're efficient, professional, organized, courteous, compassionate and quick to answer any questions you have. At Discovery Medical Clinic, they work hard to put patients at ease, strive to provide outstanding customer service, support and focus on putting patients health and well-being first. So before anyone else spouts another neg review about the wait times here, maybe consider this: they're busy because they ARE good at what they do here! Instead of rushing patients through their check ups, they take the time to be thorough and provide the best service to each and every single patient (irregardless of age, appearance, ethnicity or status) they see from opening to closing time, despite how tired they may be. So before you slam any staff, maybe take the time to say thank you for the extraordinary infallible effort they put in day in and day out. At very least, I know I sure appreciate it!

This clinic has gone downhill in the last month. Terribly unorganized, forcing patients who are mobility challenged to enter and re-enter and not allow them to sit in a lone chair more than socially distanced and masked. Too bad the hubby’s dr is here because the office is ran like sh*t both by the “manager” and a few select uncaring employees. Terrible. The doctors should re-examine who they have at their forefront.

I very well understood craziness and busyness and have the maximum tolerance for rudeness because im a receptionist myself but they have no compassion and make you feel you owe them a favor by giving you 45mins wait time and got called in after 2hours and theres 2 people waiting.

Front staff were great, and most of the doctors are great, except doctor bason. Assuming I spelt it right. I went in a couple of times for the same symptoms, 1st and second time sent me for blood work told me too lose weight which I did. Told me blood work was fine. Came back a third time with same but worse symptoms, could hardly keep my head up and he got mad at me told me I was fine and basicly told me to go f@#* myself and go away.... so yah perhaps see someone else

I see Dr Grimbeek and i love him...If i can't get an appt then the wait can be long. I find he is very friendly and caring great bedside manner. He doesn't push drugs or any unnecessary treatments or procedures. I like to ask questions and i get real answers. He treats me like a person not like another number. The reception staff are usually pretty good with me but i have heard them from time to time be short and rude to other patients. for me they have been accommodating. Thank you.

I did not know any walk in clinics in Red Deer were open on a Sunday. These guys were absolutely great the front staff to the doctor. I felt well taken care of and I did not feel rushed. The doctor was very helpful not only to the issue I had today but also gave me advise on other issue to discuss with my family doctor. Highly recommend this clinic

Came with my baby today as he has fever, 3 hours in advance before closing, but the staff insisted that they will not take my son because its "too late", she recommended go to pharmacy and ask give me medication for my son without prescription!! The uggliest service ever considering all other clinics are closed or closing very soon and only discovery clinic is open till 5 on sunday in red deer. My son now has to wait for see a doctor one more day!! They do not except baby when its 3 more hours till closing and there are not many people there..

I recently moved back to Red Deer and need a family physician. Had a meet and greet with Dr. It's yesterday. He was great and actually took the time to address an issue during this initial meeting!! A knee injury. Everyone at the desk were very friendly and helpful. Really wish I had known to go to this clinic 2 weeks ago instead of wasting my time (and government resources only to be told to see my family doctor in 3 weeks, who is Calgary) going to a different walk in clinic!!!! Going back.....hell yes!!

We visited at 2.00 PM, and front desk associate or nurse (idk) told me to come back at 3.00PM. We waited upto 3.30. Our name was not called. Then I enquired front desk, she mentioned to that the waiting time is 3.30 hours. Then I explained to her that initially I was told 1 hour waiting. She said I don't know. Then I asked can we come back after 2.00 hours. SHE TOLD ME THAT EVENTHOUGH, THE WAITING TIME IS 3.30 HOURS, WE SHOULD COME BACK EVERY HOUR TO CHECK THE FRONT DESK TO MAKE SURE OUR NAME IS STILL ON THE QUEUE. IS IT NOT RIDICULOUS? Went there Monday 4:20 pm and while waiting online, I approached the receptionist who was talking on the phone and she yelled at me saying "you're not yet called, you should not come here!" She is not supposed to sit there and be rude. Even I got shamed for being yelled at by a receptionist, I still managed to control myself and went back to the line. Then she called and we approached her again just to tell us, they're not accepting anymore patients even they're open till 6 pm. They were saying the doctors doesn't want to accept patients anymore. I explained to them that, I came all the way from sylvan lake and if they can allow us because my son was feeling so dizzy. But they did not accept us. They are receptionist of the clinic and they are the frontliners and they represent the clinic but with their attitude like that, they should not be sitting there. They could have at least be nice and not shamed people like that. I hope the management can read this and do something about it. That receptionist is the dark haired woman with glasses. need to shame people like that?

I have visited Dr. Greeff twice and he has been patient listening to my concerns and answering my questions. He is knowledgeable and I enjoyed to see that he does not make a wrong statement and if he is not sure about something, he will search and find it out. One thing about the clinic that is strange is that they are open from 8 but they do not answer the phone till 8:30 and if you call between 8 to 8:30, it says they are closed! But they are not.

I completely get all the new rules but to have rules that some people have to follow and others don’t is rude. I was here for an app and one of the receptionists scolded me for not standing behind the red line. Which was my bad for sure! But then the next four people were not scolded for anything and they were right in the receptionist faces. Also the receptionists are super rude in general. I really like the doctors here but I may not be a patient here for much longer.

Front receptionist, large brunette with red glasses was very rude and extremely unprofessional. Came here 5 minutes after opening on Sunday and there was a three hour wait. Waited the 3 hours, then was told it would be another 40 mins.

Very quick service. Physician was very fast and to the point, thorough assessment. all prescriptions, blood work, sick notes. are printed out right in the assessment room. Was literally in and out in 10 minutes.

Our 3 year old was having some ear pain, he was just getting over a cold (did the Covid test and he was negative)...called in to see if we could come in and then they said yes. When we got there, they turned us away saying it is covid symptoms and told us to go to emergency at the hospital. Said our covid test being a few days old is no longer valid, which is complete nonsense. So emergency babysitter required for our 1 year old, sat at Emergency at the hospital being exposed to god knows what with my 3 year old son. Spent 4 hours waiting to see someone. Doctor at emergency was appalled that we couldn't see someone at a walk-in clinic. Unfortunately Discovery was the only walk-in we knew of that was open on a Sunday. Despicable what they did to us.

Dr. s are Excellent...the front end staff leaves a bit to be desired. They have an odd policy of having to check in every hour even if they know you are in for a 3 hour wait. The front end staff are not particularly kind or helpful.

Of course it can be busy and can be turned away, it's a walk in clinic. My family doctor is on the medical side, can usually get an appointment the next day if needed. Doctors always update me about recent tests or medical imaging that I've had done. My doctor is very caring and listens to all my concerns.

Went in complaining of series chest pains. Later confirmed as a heart attack. Had to wait 75 min. before I got to see a doc. Series pain the whole time. No empathy at all from the staff. Doc who I did get to see, called an ambulance.

So far frustrating.... say they open at 8am. Phone message says they open at 8am. They did not turn on/answer phones until 840am.... hope walk-in appointment goes better...

I seen a doctor at this clinic first time there. I have chronic pain and it was a Saturday couldn't see my own doctor who does not work at this clinic. I was also at ER the day before. This doctor didn't believe I was in any pain at all. So I told him I would go to ER in the Country. This was his rude response "no doctor on this earth in any ER is going to help you, unless they are not from this earth." I was upset enough with the pain as it was. Well, doctor an ER doctor did help me and I had a very severe bladder infection real bad one, it had gotten worse from being in ER the previous day. I would not recommend this doctor, I can't remember his name but I will be contacting Alberta Health Servicers for his unprofessionalism.

The doctors are fantastic here so 5 star for them. However the receptionists bring down their score. Their service leaves much to be desired. I feel if your doctor taking over 3 weeks off for holidays you should be able to make an appointment (not walk in and wait forever because the rest of us have lives as well) to see someone.

Lol waited for hour and half and finally went up to ask what’s going on cause the walks in behind me were going in. The lady said that I wasn’t even on the list! Talk about being organized.

Rudest doctor you will ever encounter. Simply neglects patients after he listens to your "opening sentence" of telling what's wrong. Goes about diagnosing out of clinician's intuition and portrayed highly disrespectful, unprofessional attitude. Do not go here.

Was in a car crash on Xmas day, needed to see a doctor, went to discovery. had a very good front staff. The 1 star is solely based on one doctor's attitude. My insurance company needed some paperwork filled out so I could get lost wages covered. After a week of reminding the office there to get him to fill it out, I came in for an appointment and was told by the desk that they had done all they could do to get him to fill it out, and I was going to have to get him to do it myself. When the doctor got into the room he got rude and aggressive about why i would answer the office's calls and not his, I explained that I never saw a phone call from him (due to his unknown number and not leaving messages, as he said he tries calling up to three times if no answer he just gives up no messages left) and responded to the office's calls (due to the name of clinic comes up on phone and they leave messages to return calls). Then he lit into me about the parts of the paperwork that i needed to fill out, even though he was the one holding said paperwork. Formal Complaints are being filed with both AHS and the doctor board in Edmonton.

Customer service and appreciation to a patient's time is abysmal I was asked to be here for 3:50 appointment I don't know what doctor I will be meeting with still at 4:30 and it was empty
