I have been going to Southside dental for 17 years and Mary Ann has been my hygienist the whole time. She is amazing and thorough. She spends her time on my teeth and explains everything is is doing. Very friendly and patient and personable. I have seen both dentists Boparai and Pruthi and have been very satisfied with their service and professionalism. I will continue to go to this clinic. Not only do I love the people who work in my teeth there but the front desk works are always pleasant and friendly and greet you with a smile! Love this place! After quite a break from using dental services (3 years due to trauma and medical issues) I went looking for a dental office in our neighbourhood and checked out Southside Dental Centre. There were a number of conditions that needed to be present at the practice due to certain medical issues; good parking (to compensate for mobility issues), clean professional offices, supportive staff in all positions, competent professional service and patience. Direct billing of our insurance company would be a bonus. I am glad to say this practice met all those conditions. They were attentive to my wife’s particular needs, we never had to wait for a long time, we were never rushed and were always the centre of their professional attention.

WARNING: GET SECOND OPINIONS. The fillings for the "cavities" I did not need years ago have broken and are now costing me more money. This place puts profit before patient -- if they even consider you a patient. Don't make the same mistake I did: look elsewhere. There are plenty of great dentists in the city, but this is not one of them.

I had been going to Southside Dental Centre for most of my life up until a couple of years ago. As a child and even adolescent, I had severe anxiety when it came to going to the dentist and my anxiety was not taken seriously by any staff at Southside Dental. This led to me fostering a deep resentment for going to the dentist. In addition to their plain ignorance to my dental anxiety, another issue stands out as being incredibly concerning. One doctor informed me and my mother that I had twelve cavities. We did not know better, and so we allowed them to perform twelve fillings and paid a lot of money for each. The way the doctor informed me of the cavities was extremely rude and she made it seem like it was the end of the world when they were just cavities. For each filling, almost every time the doctor would take several tries to inject the Novocaine, and sometimes got it wrong and I would feel pain. For someone with dental anxiety, this is absolutely unacceptable and looking back this entire situation should have been a red flag to change dentists immediately. Some of the hygienists would speak in a very condescending manner and I did not feel as though they were respectful of me as a person. In addition, cleanings would often feel very rough compared to the cleanings I get done at another dental office. A couple years later, I was sent to the oral surgeon to have them evaluate my wisdom teeth. It was found that my wisdom teeth could remain in and that it was not necessary for them to be removed. Despite this finding by the oral surgeon, the dentists and hygienists at Southside Dental continued to push for me to get them removed. Next, it was found that I had more cavities. Being older and having developed critical thinking skills and skepticism, I consulted with another dentist office. It was found that I had no cavities. This made me question whether or not the twelve cavities I had previously were legitimate or if it was just a lie in order to make money. Soon after, I changed dentists and it was night and day compared to Southside Dental. All the hygienists are respectful and careful when cleaning, the doctors show you ample evidence if a problem is suspected, and they respect information provided from outside sources (e.g. oral surgeon) and don't try to gouge folks for money. After the change, I was contacted by Linda who tried to pressure me into staying with Southside Dental. I expressed my concerns and despite all of the issues, I was still being pressured to stay on when another office clearly handles dental anxiety much more professionally. Linda obviously did not have my best interests in mind and simply wanted to retain my business/money. The new dentist is completely transparent in their diagnoses and even show me live video of dental procedures as they happen and explain what exactly the problem is. To conclude: I rate this dentist office a one of five stars for the following reasons: - Disrespect towards patients, especially those with dental anxiety. - Predatory diagnoses in order to make money (pushing for wisdom teeth removal, the cavities which were found to not be cavities by a separate dentist office). - Condescending tone from hygienists and rough cleanings by hygienists. - Inability to correctly and efficiently carry out basic procedures (e.g. Novocaine injections). There are other dentist offices in Winnipeg where you will be treated with respect and where you will receive excellent dental care. I urge readers to look elsewhere for dental care before Southside Dental. Thank you for reading and I hope this review is helpful to those looking for a dental care facility.

I've been going here ever since I can remember (25 years?) and have always had a pleasant experience. Dr Stevens hasn't been around as much lately, but the new dentist(s) have been just as professional. After hearing about some of the experiences that my friends have had at other dentist offices, I realize how good I've had it. Also, they do direct billing which is convenient. Thanks.

I had a gum abscess for a long time that wasn’t painful and didn’t bother me but was infected, Dr. Bopari drained and cleaned it and when I came back for a follow up appointment, it was completely fine! It was like a miracle to finally get rid of it. I also should mention that her dental assistant is so nice, friendly and caring. I generally like going to my dentist once a while, but they make my visits much more pleasant.

The staff is very rude and are dishonest. They don't explain anything to you. When they know you have insurance they will overcharge you for cleaning and check up. Other dentists charge 40 dollars for check up and I was charged $103 dollars. I don't trust them. I was told I have two small cavities which need fillings but never showed where or didn't explain the xray results. I am not going back will find a new dentist. They only want your money nothing else.

I usually have my dental work done by Dr Pruthi and she is amazing. Calm attitude, soft, and nice. She knows that I have bad anxiety when it comes to going to the dentist and she makes it very easy for me to come and get work done. However, my issue comes from my appointment today. I had to switch my appointment from Dr Pruthi to another dentist to accommodate another appointment and I didn't think much of it as a dentist is a dentist. Wrong. Dr Park kept making comments that I found rude and unprofessional during my filling. I obviously knew my cavity was bad, as I was in to get it filled. She continually kept making comments about it which made me feel embarrassed. At one time she said "a cavity like this in the mouth is equivalent to cancer in the body" As I had a dental dam in my mouth, I was unable to say anything. Every time I asked for suction, the assistant would go to reach in to suction and she would reach over top and continue working, forcing the dental dam into the suction which at one point made me choke. It was a horrific hour. The dentist even went as far to say that it's surprising there was no tooth sensitivity before due to the deep cavity but there certainly will be now. Overall I learnt my lesson to not change appointments and to next time just reschedule with Dr Pruthi as she is an awesome dentist. I found Dr Park to be mostly unprofessional during my visit.

The dentist's are very accommodating and for hygiene/cleanings, I would recommend seeing Pauline; she's incredibly thorough and gentle!

Not the same since Brad and Linda left... very disappointed in the major work I had done... went back numerous times to have it corrected and was told that it was good and that I had to get use to it... was also told that it would be the same thing if it was replaced.... NOT at all the case .... went for a second opinion and it was not good.... now they dont want to see me again and will only give me money back if I have it replaced by someone else..... what does that say about their experience and relationships with their patients..... terrible... 5 months of chewing on something that could have been corrected...

Very bad service and experience. Hygienists are rude and make snide comments to make people feel bad/guilty about themselves. Hygienists and doctors are not on the same page. Where a doctor will suggest one thing, a hygienist will suggest another behind the doctor's back. Who do I trust? Doctor has told me I needed a root canal. But upon a second opinion it turns out I don't. It seems like they only care about the business aspect and not the patients. Other patients have had similar experiences where they will say they have x number of cavities, but it turns out they don't have any. Definitely finding a new dentist.

This practice has been bought by new people who are terrible. They lack in skills and professionalism. They hire dentists who are new and will work for the cheapest amounts possible and still bill the same rate as a quality dentist. The days of this place being functional have long passed and will just continue to get worse until they buy a new sign and start a new corporation as the complaints all add up.

My 7 year old son had severe toothache, I paid 700 dollars for tooth extraction (plus cleaning - which I think was not necessary at least at that point of time). After 3 months, my son had another tooth extraction - I paid 287 dollars (they used Nitrous oxide for sedation, took couple of x rays.)at Children's dental world. Total rip off at Southside dental. There's X ray's is way more expensive. Moreover, as I didn't have the insurance cover, they should have focused on tooth extraction rather than on cleaning, polishing ...

This office is absolutely terrible, every time I come there is new staff at the front, new hygienists, and new dentists. Do yourself a favour, and firstly, ask why at least 2 reviews from staff members were needed in order to get even an average 3-star rating, then find a different dental office.

I had cracked teeth right in the front of my mouth and was so ashamed and embarassed it would be seen when talking or smiling. Southside Dental set me up with a plan and got me a temp tooth extremely fast! All the people that work there, dental hygenists, dentists and assistant's, are very friendly and show genuine concern for your treatment. I will definitely be going back and I give it 5⭐⭐!!!

I had my tooth extracted here and the dentist left a piece of the tooth in my mouth. It later stabbed through the gums because there was an infection around the piece of tooth. Never going back here again! I was lucky to find a dentist to fix their mistake.
