Nice place, and quality of work is good. But not transparent with charges. As a student, $45 out of pocket for simple cleaning (on top of student care insurance) is a lot for me. It's this high because of exams and treatments applied before/after cleaning, however I was not told that I will get them, why they are necessary, how much they costs. They just do it, and charge you at the end, which seems unfair. I hope to find a more transparent clinic for next time.

Best Dental Office in Vancouver! I have been a patient at La Vita Dental for the past four years and I love every visit. Sarah has done a fantastic job taking care of my teeth consistently for 2+ years, as have all the hygienists I have encountered at La Vita. I always have great conversations with the hygienists and they remember me as a patient, which is just as important to me as their wonderful technical ability. My visits with both dentists, Dr. Flumerfelt and Dr. Okyere, have usually been short because my teeth are in good shape, but when I have needed to speak with them about specific concerns, they have been kind and responsive. After a small chip on my left front tooth appeared, Dr. Flumerfelt offered to add a restorative composite extension to even out the length on both my front teeth. I didn’t realize that it was even possible, but that small change has improved my smile confidence tremendously and has lasted for the past 3+ years so far. I originally went to La Vita to start Invisalign with Dr. Okyere, but when life got in the way and I could no longer commit before the treatment started, I felt no pressure from their office afterwards to continue. I hope one day that I can restart the process again with La Vita, though, because I trust their knowledge and skill. The office staff at La Vita have been extremely friendly, helpful and patient when navigating frustrating insurance hiccups, which has saved me from financial misery on multiple occasions. My partner and I have both been to their office several times during the pandemic and I believe they do a great job with covid protocols (double masking, face shields, special suction tools to prevent particle aerosolization, social distancing, etc.). I would 100% recommend to a friend or relative.

This place is amazing! I can't recommend it enough! I am always a bit nervous when I have to go to the dentist, but this amazing staff always takes such good care of me and eases all my worries (that are usually quite irrational to begin with). But they don't make you feel silly or embarrassed for any questions, big or small. Clean place, adheres to covid-19 protocol. Amazing hygienists who always make sure to deliver quality care! Teeth cleaning was painless and I was very happy with my results. I only wish the dentist spent a few more minutes actually assessing my teeth despite me having no concerns presented. At the previous dental clinic I went to the dentists would always spend at least 10 minutes talking with me about my oral health & assessing every tooth. I recognize that perhaps the dentist this time was very busy and due to covid-19 backlog of patients they might have had no time to spend with me. However moving forward, I do expect more of an interaction with the dentist even if all things look great with my teeth :). Overall I would recommend this clinic because as this was my second visit, I found both experiences to be a positive ones.

This place is very gorgeous and super up to date with state of the art technology. Not only the office is modern but the staff is very pleasant and wonderfully nice and accommodating. I felt very welcomed and not rushed at all throughout the whole appointment. I have no apprehension to go to the dentist anymore as Dr. Fazel and her assistant Gemma were very sincere and caring while fixing my teeth. I got 3 fillings done very efficiently and painlessly. I am now smiling with more confidence than ever. The girls in the front were also super welcoming and sweet and had big smiles that made my visit even more enjoyable . Without a doubt, the best dental experience I have ever had! My front four teeth (the most vulnerable and obvious four) require a procedure every few years (until I am comfortable with the permanent fix). Not only does this procedure require high detail and precision, it must be aesthetically pleasing. I have had this procedure done for over 15 years with over 5 doctors (often I need someone else to fix for functionality). Overall, an unpleasant and lengthily procedure I am not looking forward to. Dr. Okyere immediately read my apprehension and talked me through her effort. Then she got to work. I was well distracted during the tenure of the procedure and when it was time to look in the mirror, my eyes filled with tears! No doctor had ever taken the time to ensure the details were perfect and the functionality was precise (I can floss, chew, brush and smile at ease)! Slightly emotional I gathered my things and left. It's been weeks and I find myself smiling more, I find myself more concerned with my dental hygiene and just over-all just just proud of the workmanship of my teeth, plus the positive feedback I received from family, friends and work colleagues! I would recommend Dr. Okyere to anyone as she leaves patients feeling engaged, proud, and smiling from ear to ear! She gave me the confidence and trust to know she will be the one to do the permanent procedure! At the end of my emotional whirlwind, I got floss, chap stick, fury toothpicks, travel tooth brush and tooth paste! Great experience, very professional, patient oriented and efficient!

I had a great initial first appointment with the hygienist and with Dr. Flumerfelt. I have a fear of dental work and had to get quite a bit of work done. I left the office and was told I had to pay everything up front because they said the student plans through UBC and Pacific Blue Cross don't allow them to direct bill. This was in September and as a full time student, had to pay out of pocket the full amount. I have 2 insurances, and know that I have full coverage for dental care- so I was very frustrated by this. Instead of submitting to my primary, then submitting to my secondary. They split the bill into two. So I ended up having to submit the two separate bills my primary (3 months later after the blackout period I wasn't aware of through UBC), then wait until they both came back to submit through my secondary insurance (who i know independently, I have full coverage under). After being told by this office that Pacific Blue Cross can't be direct billed I went to the UBC Student Care and Insurance office to ask why student plans cannot be direct billed because out of anyone, these are the people who can't afford to pay up front. They had no idea why the dentist said that it was the plan that can't be direct billed, in fact, the plans are able to be direct billed for anything. I was very upset that this office said it was my plan that couldn't be direct billed, when in fact I would have chose another office to go to, had I known this. Not to mention that they had no idea how to do 2 insurance submissions even. It would be so common to have a primary and secondary insurance for couples, but they had no idea. Aside from the insurance, I left that day from my cleaning and my exam with Dr. F quite happy and excited that I found a dentist I liked and felt comfortable with. However, I walked out with no plan of care, being told they would email it to me. I called 3 times and send 2 emails asking for the plan to be sent to me so I knew what was going on. The first two times I called there was nothing that was on my file still. I called again a month later to ask for it again because I was going out of town. That is when I finally got someone helpful who put through the insurance pre-determinations and sent over my plan of care that day (and it was big). She was helpful in that sense. I was going out of country in November and it took until November to get this all figured out and make an appointment for December. I had no phone access and told them this probably 10 times while I was out of the country, and I had phone recordings from them. They scheduled appointments without me even giving them dates of availability. It was a cat and mouse game that eventually ended with me asking for my records to be sent to Edmonton, and used a dentist over the Christmas break to get my plan of care completed. This is upsetting because it took so much unnecessary time of mine as a full time graduate student, and working. The dentist and hygienist were great. It was the rest of the experience that was awful. Would not recommend even with the convenience of being a block from my house.

From my first patient exam to cavity work to wisdom teeth removal, Dr. Okyere is unbelievably knowledgeable and does great work. Her passion for what she does shows in her diligence in thorough exams, her explanations, and her follow up. I also love that I can opt-in for text reminders! The admin team is organized and always a treat to interact with. Oh, and has anyone mentioned the amazing free chapstick they have at reception? They're seriously the best. The dentist also drilled away my real tooth to protect a crown, it left my real tooth very sensitive. I would of taken the risk of keeping all of my real tooth if given the choice but after she had told me it was a possible crown breaker! I don’t leave a lot of reviews but it’s how I picked this dentist, by the look of how many good reviews there are I’m sure I was just unlucky

The impression I have of her is that she's conscientious, she's compassionate and she's got integrity, all qualities that make for an excellent experience at the dentist, not always pleasant but absolutely essential. I tried to make an emergency appointment at this clinic. I mentioned that I would be using my Ministry dental coverage for people with disabilities and the receptionist had never heard of it and told me I would have to pay cash in full if I didn’t have dental coverage. Absurd! I have never had this issue with any other dentist! I phoned another dentist nearby and they took me right away, solved my problem and processed my Ministry coverage without a problem. I felt shamed by La Vita and was denied my basic rights. I emailed them the link to the PDF instructions for dentists on how to process Ministry dental coverage. Unbelievable that they are so poorly informed.

Firstly full disclosure I am not a fan of the Dentist (nervous patient) so I am hard to please! I have recently moved to Vancouver from Ireland so this was my first visit to La vita dental. I had a excellent experience from the reception to the nurse Gemma super friendly explained each step of the exam and was very professional. You can tell they have invested heavily in the latest technology 3d scans etc I have not seen before. The dentist David was very through taking the time to double check a the xrays etc did not fell rushed a gentleman. I was also fortunate to have a hygienist clean with Sarah brilliant again explaining the process and keeping the conversation light to put you at ease! Overall 5 star experience and so happy I found my Vancouver dentist! Thanks and Well done!

I highly recommend this place to everyone because finding the right dentist is a must! We all know going to the dentist can be a painful and frustrating experience, not to mention expensive, but you won’t be disappointed! It’s really difficult to find a dentist nowadays who doesn’t force you to do any unnecessary work and is not pushy about procedures, especially cosmetics, but the staff at this clinic were finally the type of professionals I was looking for all these years! I switched many dentists, at least 5, but none of them were honest. I was recommended by one of the smiling faces of the Clinic, the super friendly receptionist Sam and even though she had told me great things about the dentists and hygienists there I was still worried that my experience was going to be the same as the previous ones. Well it wasn’t at all! Both the dentist and the hygienists were super friendly, thorough, honest, and personable. Perfect location as well, super easy to find!

This is a HAPPY place. I have never been to such an enthusiastic, alive and knowledgeable dentist's office. They took all kinds of pictures, x-rays and measurements, even more than when I had braces done. Dr. Flumerfelt drew pictures to explain a problem I had and then made a 30 second correction that has almost eliminated the problem. Other Dentists just offered invasive corrections. The hygienist did a great job and explained stuff about toothpaste I'd never thought of. I have found my Dentist!

The service that I received from La Vita went above and beyond my expectations. After some mediocre experiences at other places, I am confident now that I will never see anyone other than Dr. Okyere for dental work. The entire operation impressed me. The front desk staff that dealt with my insurance (I didn't have to pay out of pocket and be reimbursed), the hygienist was gentle and made sure I was comfortable the whole time, and the dentist was friendly and soothing. I had some pitting in my teeth that needed filling and was unaware of this until Dr. Okyere caught it during an exam. Her knowledge and attention to detail are obvious. I felt completely at ease the entire time I was in her chair and she seemed genuinely interested in treating my issues. The office itself is small but cozy, but it's in a convenient location and they always accomodate my need for late afternoon appointments. I should also mention that I had a night guard made by them because I grind my teeth, and after about 6 months it had a small crack in it, and they had a brand new one made for me at no charge. This is unbelievable service in my opinion and I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dental experience.
