Dr. Suyama is excellent! My first visit he automatically took the time to go over my x-rays and dental history with me. I came back to have some scarring left over from my wisdom teeth removed, I was in and out in 15 minutes, and, and, AND he called the next day to check up on me - not a receptionist, him. The level of care provided is excellent! I am a very happy patient. Updated for 2020: Still great! I finally managed to see the dentist, it was spotless and they followed all protocols. They answered all my questions and made me feel really taken care of. Best dentist in Vancouver. :)

This is the best dental centre I’ve ever had - I’m so lucky my partner and decided to try a new place a few years ago. I’ve seen Avi and Alina, and they’ve taken such good care of me - very little/no pain, very friendly and welcoming, and listen to my concerns and questions. I went in for a cleaning today and felt totally safe with the COVID safety measures in place. Dr. Mark is also awesome and I feel like I’m in great hands with his care. I work a lot and have a crazy schedule, so I extra appreciate their reception and flexible scheduling, and how fast/efficient my cleaning appointments are. This is a legit review - best dental experience I’ve ever had.

Very professional and doing everything solely for the benefit and interest of the patient. The highest quality of dental service in both software and hardware in my past ten years at Vancouver. And to my surprise, the gift for me being a new patient is an electronic toothbrush, Oral B PRO 500. So yes I highly recommend this dental to anyone especially who work or live close by.

I do not enjoy writing bad reviews but I have to write this. I had one of my wisdom tooth extracted last week. Previously, I was seeing Dr. Torabian who was super nice and always followed up on issues. But since Dr. Torabian left the clinic, I was assigned to Dr. Chen. I must say, I've never had a worse or more unwelcoming experience with a medical professional. She seemed more focused on getting the tooth extracted rather than how I was feeling during the procedure. I still remember something that happened at the end of the procedure. As she was suturing up my gum, she seemed annoyed that the suture thread got tangled up she said something like "I hate it when this happens" and flailed her sharp suture tools in a way that got me worried that she would cut my face or something. Thankfully nothing like that happened. At the end, she rushed out and her equally un-empathetic assistant asked me to take tylenol or advil if I have any pain and sent me away. I was in pain for 3 weeks and was too ashamed to reach out to them for help. I feel like I am back to normal now. Please train your dentists to treat patients like humans.

Honestly hands down the best dentists, assistants, and receptionists. I get really anxious sometimes when meeting a new doctor or in this case, my new dentist. I've only been a new client for 5 days and they've been so welcoming and not just because they gave me a tote bag of free swag after my first visit - a brand new Oral-B electric toothbrush, your standard manual toothbrush, floss, toothpaste, and lip balm! Haha! You'd think they're constantly booked up because they're right in the heart of downtown Vancouver. But they're really accommodating with scheduling in appointments. I like that their system can send me both email and text reminders. I always had really awful experiences with previous dentists growing up. It had been a while since I had my teeth cleaned and examined so I was really nervous but Dr. Chen, her assistants, and Priscilla the hygienist were really thorough in explaining to me what they were going to do via x-rays, taking photos of my teeth, and giving me advice on proper brushing. I feel at ease and comfortable when I'm there. My boyfriend and his family are also patients there. He was the one who told me about this location!

I needed some work done on my teeth and my regular dental office could not fit me in to see them until the following week so I thought that I would give Mark's office a call to see if I could get in there sooner. The receptionist was great and they actually got me in for an appointment the following day! Mark did amazing work on my teeth and explained everything clearly so that I understood the work involved. The overall experience from Mark, the dental assistants and the receptionists was top notch and I'd highly recommend Mark and the Vancouver City Centre Dental team!!

HATE going to the dentist, have never had great experiences growing up. Went to Vancouver City Centre Dental one time after a 4 year hiatus from regular checkups, and will never go anywhere else. All of the women I encountered were very friendly/welcoming. They were all very knowledgable and thorough. For the first time in my life I had a cleaning that didn’t leave my gums swollen and my mouth tasting like blood. 10/5 stars, cannot say enough good things about this place.

I was traveling on a ship and in a lot of pain from a stuck popcorn kernel. This office was close to the port so I called for a same day appointment. They were busy but able to fit me in. I found out I had a serious enough infection to loose multiple teeth. I'm not from Canada and had to pay out of pocket. Dr Tara S Cowie worked with knowing I did not have a lot of money. It was obvious that Dr Cowie actually cared about my well being. She knew I would not be able return to her since I was only in the country for a couple of days. She sat with me explained everything I needed to do now. She also let me know how important it was I needed a follow-up when I got home. She really took care of me and I'm very grateful. She seemed very knowledgeable. If I was a local I would absolutely use her as my primary dentist and would recommend her to anyone. The office was clean nice and modern. The staff at the front were very friendly.

I was very concerned with my insurance and the receptionists were able to help me figure out my portion and work through a proper payment plan ???? as far as their work itself goes, absolutely phenomenal. They work fast and efficiently. Most, if not all of my anxiety around my dental health went away with the help of this practice. They made sure that I was comfortable, reassured me and helped me through the fear of pain. Which was very minimal as they made sure I was properly numb. I can’t express enough how important it is to find a practice that prioritizes your comfort, it makes you want to go back rather than avoid it. This is definitely the place to go if you’re having any anxiety around your dental care. I take a 47 min transit ride just to go to this clinic.

I inquired about the root canal treatments, this young lady seemed very knowledgeable and did not hesitate to go the extra mile to provide me with the information that I was looking for. A female staff (sorry I forgot your name) did some scans and photos to begin - super sweet lady. Dr. Mark Suyama went through my dental photos in detail and was very friendly and knowledgeable. Avi, hygienist, was also soooo nice. This is one of the most pain free cleaning I’ve ever had. As a first time client, they have me an electric tooth brush. Thank you so much!! I've posted before but I'll rave again -- this is an excellent, state of the art dental clinic. The new Covid precautions are extensive but not onerous (temperature check, short questionnaire, free masks and hand sanitizer) The dental hygienists wear quite a bit of protective gear (poor them! looks like quite a hassle to put on and work while wearing) Everybody is masked and I felt no unease at all being in the clinic. If you have extended dental coverage, they continue to process the paperwork for you which is a huge bonus. Highly recommend this clinic

7/30: I wanted to follow up on my original review. Doctor's office followed up with me and provided further help to get me right treatment. The issue with my tooth is fixed now and I am happy to get back to normal life. I feel they care about their patients and also pay attention to the feedback they receive. I recommend you give them a try for any dental issues. 7/4 : I had a horrible experience with this place. In April, I decided to go in for regular checkup and they recommended me that I need cleaning as well as refilling in few teeth. I setup both appointment and my cleaning appointment was really awesome (only good part) and then I had my refilling appointment which was dreadful. Right after my visit, in few hours, I had severe pain in my right tooth and I couldn't bite anything. I called them back and went to visit few times over couple of months as a follow up and they would just adjust the bite and send me back home. It still didn’t get better and then they asked me to see their other doctor, Dr. Suyama who was very courteous and tried to find what’s wrong and after couple of visits asked me to see endodontics. I visited the specialist and found out that refilling they did was too deep and damaged my nerves so bad that it has become super sensitive and exposed to normal biting and I will have to do root canal and get a crown. So just general checkup visit here has resulted into $3K-$4K of total expense for me now and for 3 months now I am in pain. I wish I hadn’t visited them as everything was fine with my teeth before the filling visit I had with them.

" I have had multiple appointments (roughly 4) here, some long for root canal treatment others shorter for coming up with a long term plan. By now, I have interacted both with Dr Tara Cowie as well as with Dr Suyama. The most accurate way to describe my experience is that I simply can't find a way that it could be improved, the treatment was effective, pain free, I was always given clear explanations of what happened and what options I have and which one would be best. Dr Suyama ( as well as Dr Tara Cowie) has been very patient, detailed and clear in explaining the situation and the options that I have. During the extensive root canal treatment I had not felt the slightest discomfort both during as well as in between the appointments. Aside of medical expertise, the staff has always been very polite and very friendly, and _extremely_ accommodating. I have called on two occasions for having pain, prior to starting treatment and I was able to get emergency appointments that day. The appointments were always made trying to accommodate my schedule as good as possible. I moved to Vancouver three months ago from overseas and I was anxious in picking up a dental clinic since I did not know anything about Canadian medical system but I honestly could not be happier about my choice. This will definitely be my go-to clinic for as long as I am in Vancouver."

For the second time in my invisalign treatment they have me come in to get my new trays and they do not have my trays in. Instead of rescheduling and letting me know, I had to take the day off work (nature of my job) to come in for nothing just so they'll ask me to come in the next week and repeat the process. To apologize they gave me a gift card (undisclosed amount) to a downtown restaurant (which I feel a meal will likely cost more than the worth of the gift card). I can handle taking time off for necessary treatments but wasting my time and money is unprofessional.

I went there yesterday to do a general cleaning and it was not my first time going to this place, the hygienist spent almost around 40 min to just clean half of my teeth and I have been charged almost 280 dollars. Now I have to book a second appointment to clean up the other half of my teeth and pay the same amount. I feel I got ripped very nice and smooth. I have cleaned up my teeth in multiple places in Canada including here in Vancouver and this has never happened to me. And at the end when I asked the office lady that I want to get my teeth refilled without cleaning the other half of my teeth she said no I have to finish my cleaning first and then get my teeth refilled. My family and myself will stop going to this place from now on.

I had the most terrible experience with the hygienist there. My cleaning appointment was made several months ago, but they suddenly changed my regular hygienist without notifying me before my cleaning appointment. Her way of handling my teeth and mouth was very rough, and unskillful. She pulled my lips very roughly without saying anything, splashing rinsing water all over my face and even my shirt, and kept asking "Are you ok?". Even though I asked her to do gently a couple of times and gave her sign that I was not comfortable, she continued. It was such a nightmarish experience. Since then, I don't go to this place any more.

They offer 20$ gift cards in exchange for 5 star reviews which was a the ONLY reason they are rated so high. This is a money grab, especially if you have extended dental coverage. They'll charge you for 3 or 4 different things just for getting a checkup. Make sure to check what they charge you because they are just trying to milk as much as they can out of your medical coverage.

I believe there was some miscommunication - the office has, on different occasions, given me conflicting information on my insurance coverage and when I should be coming in. I recognize the onus is on me to know my own coverage, but I trust the advice of my dental clinic as I know they have my insurance information at their fingertips. This past appointment, I paid out of pocket when it seems I could have been covered by my insurance if I went a month later. I trust it was an honest mistake, but am disappointed by their response to my review. In future, I will double-check myself before heading into an appointment.

I have a lot of dental anxiety and have not visited a dentist for a long time. I had an appointment with Dr. Tiffany Chen, which I was very nervous about, but she was extremely reassuring and kind, and most importantly - not at all judgmental about the state of my teeth or my fear. It was probably the most pleasant experience I've had with any medical professional and I felt as comfortable as I could've been, given the circumstances. I have upcoming appointments and I'm cautiously optimistic despite the prospect of once again having drills in my mouth. In addition to the smooth appointment, they are also very responsive to emails. Appointments are easy to book and there doesn't appear to be much (if any) wait to get procedures done. They follow BC's suggested fee guide and I would definitely recommend to friends and family, or any fearful dental patient. (They also have a big bowl of mango passionfruit scented lip balms at reception, if you needed another reason to visit.)

Very poor experience. 4 sittings for hygiene, billed extra 4xs on top of my 100% coverage. Front tooth filling is vertically out of line and does not match my other teeth colour. The partial was done twice, several visits, time off work, sent on wild goose chase to denturist clinic which waa a dump on hastings with no patient area. Did imprint twice and still wrong. I now have to pay out of pocket to someone else to fix all their mistakes at a cost of 3000 dollars. Requeated office manager to call me, no response. I will never step foot in that office again. At this point they should be paying me.
