Our first visit to a Pediatric Dentist for both our son's aged 6 months and 2 years. We were asked what show the children would like to watch while waiting for the dentist, the staff were friendly and helpful (I had my hands full with two littles and they helped me complete the intake paperwork), and Dr. Lam had an excellent bedside manner with all three of us, myself, and my two sons. My son enjoyed his time at the dentist and Karla, our dental hygienist, was very friendly and personable with the boys and I. Although they do not direct bill for insurance, they sent off the paperwork to our insurance company once we paid out of pocket. The only difficulty was helping my 2 year old understand the concept of a "waiting room"! He thought we would walk in right away so it would have been good for us to practice this concept at home and maybe have a book or two to read while waiting (in addition to the TV show that was playing) as a back up. I also would HIGHLY recommend filling out any paperwork in advance before the first time visit as I discovered this was challenging to do while holding a 6 month old and carraling a 2 year old. We look forward to continuing to develop a positive relationship with Dr. Lam and the staff at Gateway Pediatric Dentistry in Sherwood Park and are looking forward to our next visit in 6 months!

My son gets really anxious about going to the dentist and would often refuse to open his mouth for the dental hygienist. After several frustrating, tear-filled visits, we decided to try Gateway. We've only had one visit, but it was an extremely positive one. The hygienist was great with him, taking the time to slowly explain what she was going to do and all the tools she was going to use. My son was fully cooperative and was excited afterwards to get goodies and to have his name put into a prize draw for having no cavities. We'll definitely be going back.

My son has severe anxiety and is tough to get him to leave the house these days. He also has down syndrome and can be tough to work with. They took all the time he needed and even worked with him sitting on the floor where he was comfortable because laying in the chair scared him. 100% recommend them especially if your kid is nervous with dentists.

Amazing staff and kid friendly office. Right when you walk in everything is kid friendly. The front counter is lower so kids can interact with the front staff, and the front staff are so nice and friendly. The waiting area is nice and spacious and there is an area for kids to play in. Our dental assistant Carrie was extremely nice and patient with my 3yr old. They have TV's above the chairs and try to make things extremely comfortable for kids. Dr. Lam is an awesome dentist. Hes friendly, knowledgeable and patient. He explains things very well and really helps make my daughter feel comfortable with the tools being used. I highly recommend this place if you have kids

We have only been once so far for my son who tends to be nervous. We were early for our appt however it was almost an half hour past pur appt time when we got in. My son didn't mind because he was playing. When you see how patient, kind, respectful and wonderful the staff are you can see why appts may get backed up. I really appreciate the time they took with us even though their days were clearly backed up. A beautiful clinic and awesome staff.

Friendly and patient staff made our first trip back to the dentist since lockdown a pleasant and stress-free time. Both my kids had a great visit and cleaning. My son is 5 and on the Autism Spectrum and this was the first year he was able to sit through a whole checkup and cleaning. We felt safe with their new procedures in place for COVID19.

This was daughters first time at the dentist, staff were super friendly and mindful off all the dentistry anxieties a child can have. Dentist and dental assistant were extremely informative on the tools and procedures to make the patient feel at ease. Facility was the cleanest I’ve seen and had everyone leaving with the experience that one should have or if not exceeded expectations. DR. Nijjar was who we worked with. Highly you recommend

My son had such bad anxiety when it came to the dentist. Just getting him to let a dentist look at his teeth was a struggle. But not anymore! This place is absolutely incredible with helping children who have a variety of different issues, get the treatment they need and deserve. Seeing my son lie there calmly and let them clean his teeth is something I never thought I’d see. We drive over an hour to get here and we won’t take my son anywhere else.

My oldest (6) had a fear of dentists after a bad experience at an adult dentist that had no patience for kiddos. I heard about Dr Palmer and since meeting him I will never go anywhere else- I'll even follow him to his other locations to sure my appointments match up with his schedule. They totally reversed my oldests fears and started my younger two proper right from the start. My kids are happy and excited to go to Gateway, even when they have hard day and aren't easy to work with the combo of the Dentist and his hygienists never fails. I am very grateful for them.

My son had a traumatic experience with a previous dentist and so I was worried that my son would have issues having cavities filled at Gateway Pediatric Dentistry. Happily, my anxiety was misplaced. The office was entirely hygienic and the staff was very pleasant to work with. I would highly recommend Gateway Pediatric Dentistry to anyone - and especially for children with anxiety around dental procedures.

The staff here at so friendly and patient with the kids. The environment is so welcoming! We first went to the clinic during covid and the staff had assigned seats for us, washed everything after use and coordinated contact with front end staff after the visit to ensure distancing was maintained between families. The hygienists were patient with my kids and explained everything they were going to do. Dr Palmer was also very kind and patient. Very happy with the clinic and we will be back for sure.

Dr. Graham really takes his time to explain things, and he listens and communicates very intently, and always ensures that my son also feels part of the conversation. My son was self conscious about a type of filling he had done at our old dental clinic, and Dr. Graham went above and beyond to accomodate him and ensure he smiled with confidence. The doctor was great! Receptionist on the other hand terrible! Called my ex husband behind my back for my balance when I specifically told her not to and explained he would not have the funds. She gave him personal information about the balance and amount owing when I am the primary caregiver and I am the one to decide what is to be disclosed to my ex husband. She called him from another phone away from me but I heard her talking to my ex. Asked her to hang up the phone she continued to discuss my personal business with him. Receeptionists there do not understand anything about their privacy policy. do not trust them at all.

It was a nice experience with the staffs and dr Graham is amazing. The only thing that i would like to mention is the ipad in the waiting area. There are apps that the kids can use to play, the advertisement pops up a lot in between ( for ex: Play House) that upset my daughter. I wish the company would pay for the app so the kids can enjoy the game without the advertisement while waiting.

They are fantastic here! Naomi is so great with children and they were so comforting when my son was absolutely terrified. They never pressured us into forcing him to get the dental work done, instead they tried different ways to make him comfortable. In the end we didn’t get the procedure done because my son was too scared but they let us try be there for an hour and half trying. Not once did Naomi or any of the other staff made us feel like a nuisance for taking up so much time. It is greatly appreciated!

No crying children equals SUCCESS!!! The entire staff are welcoming and support the children to feel comfortable from start to finish of the treatment. The reward at the end makes them feel like they accomplished something they thought they couldn’t do. My son said to us he was brave and the DR. Said he did well. Great job everyone.

We took our 8 month old here to get her lip tie looked at. Dr. Graham was great. He ended up clipping her tongue tie. He explained everything so we knew what was happening and made sure we comfortable. Wonderful experience! Would highly recommend.

The office was clean and nicely designed, the staff was very kind and personable and the Dentist was absolutely amazing with the children! I brought my 7month old son to get advice on his tongue tie, and have it removed if necessary. Taryn and Dr. Graham were both awesome - informative, caring, friendly. We went ahead with removing it same day, and the procedure went so smooth. Dr. Graham was awesome in dealing with my son through it. He’s a strong little guy that wasn’t an easy patient, (understandably for his age and for what the procedure involved). I felt reassured and confident that my son was in good hands! And that I am well informed and equipped to ensure a healthy recovery. We look forward to visiting again as he grows up (and finally grows teeth!)

Took my 3.5 yr old for a second opinion from another office that wanted to do 12 crowns! Dr. Graham was awesome! suggested a more appropriate and affordable treatment plan for my son that made sense. I work in the dental field and i wonder how many parents have been duped into extreme treatment plans for their kids without knowing that there are better suited options out there. Highly recommend this office. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming.

I drove 4 hours to have my daughters tooth worked on. This office understands that you have a limited time to work with toddlers before they get finicky. As always, Gateway provided incredible service. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. However, the wait time was over an hour to get into our appointment. Despite this, we will be back. We drive 2 hours just to see these dentists! Highly recommend.

This is our family's favorite dental clinic. They provide exceptional services to my two boys. The St. ALBERT one, whom my eldest one with exceptionalities have a wonderful experience every visit. The dental assistants are very gentle and friendly. Dr. PALMER made sure that all questions and problems are addressed. Today, Karen who assisted my second born i was too impressed on how she managed to make him calm and involved the whole process. The ambiance of the clinic is exceptional. Very clean, positive atmosphere. I highly recommend this dental clinic especially to families with children who has higher needs

This was my daughter's first time at a dentist. I was very hesitant regarding the experience because of my own childhood experience. They were AMAZING! Took the time to let my girl get comfortable, asked what her interests were. Showed her some dog pictures (her favorite) and was able to check her mouth with little fuss. This is a win for us as most times she won't even let me brush her teeth without a fight. They were so encouraging to my girl and to me. Answered all my questions and made me feel at ease. My 5 year old son needed some dental work done, and I'm so glad I decided to go with this clinic. Dr. Palmer was amazing! He was very fast (which is important when dealing with squirmy children, lol), he made sure my son was comfortable, and he answered all of my questions. Can't really ask for more from a paediatric dentist. The lady at the front desk is always very friendly and is happy to chat with the little ones. The hygienists are also very friendly and professional. You know your child is in good hands....which is very comforting as a parent :)

Was referred here by my regular dentist for my 2 year olds tooth to be pulled as they felt he would be best to have anesthetic. His tooth is half cracked off and at risk of getting infected yet they took over a week to even get a hold of me to book an appointment. When they finally did they wanted to book for another consultation. For what? So they can tell me exactly what my dentist told me and charge me for it? They already have his X-rays and info that was sent to them by my dentist so they know exactly what needs to be done. Money grab and we are going elsewhere.

Last week i took my 2 daughters into the clinic, my oldest was so nervous going into her appointment, and they were absolutely amazing with her, they settled her down by showing her everything and telling her everything they were doing before doing it. Coming from a mother of a 4yr old disabled child that spends way too much time in doctors offices, hospitals and therapy, Gateway Pediatric Dentistry was hands down a stress free, relaxed, comforting atmosphere! Our son was giving high fives, fist bumps and telling the staff about his shopping on Amazon! When his appointment was done, he didn't want to leave! That speaks volumes in my world! I chose Gateway because our son has Noonan Syndrome and will require to have all of his dental work done at the Stollery Hospital with Cardiology present, sets my mind at ease that Gateway was so accommodating and helpful when filling out the paperwork. Visit and see for yourself!
