Dr.Gaum should never be allowed to work with children. He tortured both mentally and physically my 2 sisters and I in the 80's when we went to him because he was our family dentist, he was suppose to be one of the best. Not at all!! All the of us to this day have anxiety and fear to go to the dentist. Never take your child to him. I had no idea until just 2 days ago he was still practicing and allegedly doing the same thing to numerous children still to this day.

As a person with high anxiety of the dentist this place has been amazing to me. I have had a couple appointments so far and they are so patient and understanding there it's unbelievable. I used to go to dentist offices that told me to "man up" when I explained I have alot of anxiety and wouldn't offer me options. Granville was recommended to me by a friend and when I went and explained my anxiety they were very understanding. I get the nitrous when I'm having work done now and they always stop to make sure I'm comfortable and am in a good state of mind when getting work done. I am writing this right after getting a root canal done and honestly have no pain at the moment and barely felt a thing during the procedure. Again I can't give the staff enough credit at Granville. From reception to the dentist they go above and beyond for their patients. Very happy with the work they do.

Two of my children have had work done by Dr Knoll and it has been such a great experience both times. The staff are great at calming anxious kids (and moms) and Dr Knoll does great work.

Absolutely great customer service. They did everything they could to move up my daughters treatment as soon as we put her on the cancelation list. They answered all our questions (and we had plenty). They pulled 2 teeth, capped 4 and treated 4 cavities. Yes, we need to enforce better dental hygiene (parenting fail). Regardless, they were extremely helpful, pleasant and easy to deal with. My duaghter was back to her normal self within an hour. Amazing job, especially considering how much work they did... ALL WITHIN 40 MINUTES. 5 stars is not enough.

My daughter needed some extensive work on her teeth which required her to be sedated. I was so scared because it was her first ever procedure. The staff was SO amazing and kind to me and my daughter. They really did an amazing job with her teeth and her overall care and I HIGHLY recommend them. Top quality care at this establishment. Thank you so much!!!!

Fantastic staff all around! Dr Gaum is the man! We had to drive down from cape breton because of a year and a half wait for a dental anesthesiologist to be available. Our 5 year old required 4 teeth to be pulled and while it was a terrifying event (for the parents lol), this clinic absolutely knows how to take care of your children! Hats off to granville dental clinics staff!

Victoria, a hygienist at the clinic, is stellar and was a great comfort to my anxious son. Dr. Knoll has also been a great help. Dr. Gaum and his hygienist (whose name I was not given), however, are the subject of a formal complaint with the provincial dental regulator for forcing an invasive procedure on my unwilling 7-year-old, yelling at my son, and other unprofessional behaviour. If I hadn’t been listening at the closed door when I first heard the screams, I would not have known what they did to him. Now we’re working on rebuilding my son’s trust in dentists at a different clinic.

From the referral process to the consult to the actual appointment and surgery, Granville Dental and especially Dr. Julie Knoll was amazing. They called almost immediately when they got the referral, they actually listened when I told them how much pain my child was in, they gave us an appointment for a consult and surgery date (that really weren't that far away to begin with), then put us on the cancelation list for both. We weren't supposed to have our consult until next week and then surgery 2 weeks after that. We ended up with a cancelation for the consult on Tuesday of this week and had the surgery on Thursday of this week. They were kind, so sweet, Dr. Julie was patient with my kiddo, took time to chat and make her feel comfortable. She was in and out of surgery within a half hour, and we were on our way back home less than 2 hours after we got there. Then she called the night of the surgery to make sure everything was ok. I'd highly highly recommend this place for anyone who's kiddos need dental work done. 10 out of 10!!

I know there is a lot of negativity surrounding this place lately, and in regards to that dentist it is warranted. However I have brought both my kids to have dental surgery done and both were done by a female dentist. The experience was great. Super friendly and very supportive of me as a parent. Once they were sedated they would bring me in to see my kids and how they are setup and that everything is ok. I never saw a male dentist even in the building when I was there on 3 separate occasions. I wish I had the dentist name that worked on my children they were very good and I would highly recommend them. Don't write off an entire practice because of one terrible dentist.

Reception staff were amazing and more than helpful. Dr Knoll is one of the best. Explained the procedure clearly and concisely. When the plan changed midway I was informed immediately before changes were implemented. Dr Knoll has made herself readily available vie her personal cell number and reassurance contact can be made at ANY TIME. Infection set in 2 days after my sons procedure and she called in Rx to my preferred pharmacy. 10/10!! Thanks to all at this location, helped make the experience easy on my 5 year old son and even easier for anxious parents.

My daughter was just treated by Dr Knolls. Reading previous reviews I was a bit weary. But I had called the office about her referral before they called me because my daughter was in a lot of pain. I was given an appointment about 2 months out but she put me on the cancelation list. No more than 5 minutes later she called me right back with an appt for the following week. We had the phone consult with Dr Knolls and she was absolutely amazing. She definitely put my mind at ease. She let me knows everything that was going to happen. Appointment day I assumed that the woman who was out talking to my daughter in the waiting room was a dental assistant or nurse because I have never experienced that kind of interaction with a dentist. She definitely goes the extra mile. She took us in for her to check her weight and vitals. She explained to both my daughter and I what was going to happen. After she was medicated they took her back to the room and got her situated. Did her xrays. Came up with a plan and brought me in to see she was safe and to go over everything. When the treatment plan changed they came out and asked of I approved, not once but twice. She did nothing without my ok. When everything was done I got to go back in the room and they brought her back to me. Dr Knolls checked on her several times before she personally wheeled my daughter out tonthe vehicle. That night she called us to make sure she was doing ok. This was by far the best experience I have ever had at a dentist! If your child has been referred to Dr Julie, I recommend that you ignore the reviews of the previous dentist at the office and give her a chance.

Doctor Knoll was so patient and kind with my son and made him feel safe and comfortable, which is tough with a child who has a phobia of going to the dentist. When I met with her for a consultation she explained everything in great detail and allowed me the chance to ask questions so that I felt informed. Each staff member was just as friendly as the next. Everyone was so kind and caring and made us feel very calm in what was a very stressful situation. I highly recommend this office to anyone who has a child with a fear of going to the dentist. Alicia at reception is always friendly and extremely helpful and helped walk me through the insurance process.

The stories of Guam are all consistent. Our son was brought there and his story is the same as everyone else’s. He was forcibly held down with a hand across his mouth and nose and yelled at to not scream. He’s afraid of dentists to this day.

I was 7 when I had my first and last appointment with dr. Gaum. I was referred to him because he did sedation for minor dental procedures, and my dentist didn't and he said this guy was great. Me and my parents drove almost 4 hours for this appointment (from Cape Breton). The sedation didn't work, and the second round only made me feel a little disoriented and tired. He had no patience for me because I was already upset because my mom wasn't allowed in the room with me. His assistant basically dragged me away from my parents, I was hysterical but they eventually got me to calm down enough to get on the chair by promising me that if I calmed down my mom would be allowed to come see me. He didn't freeze me properly, and everytime he would put in more freezing he would ask if I could feel it. I could, so I would tell him it's not frozen and he just got more impatient. He pulled the first tooth and I lost it, I was screaming bloody murder and flailing trying to get off the chair because he was hurting me. I remember screaming for my mom with everything in my being for her to come help me. He got 2 assistant nurses to lay over my legs and 1 to hold my arms. He put his hand over my mouth and nose so that I couldn't breathe or scream and that was the first time in my life (mind you I was only a child 7 years old) I thought I was going to die, I felt myself passing out, he may have only had his hand over my face for a minute at most, but it felt like forever. He said he would let go if I shut up and cooperated so he could get "this over with". I can recall him saying if I don't stop he's going to make it hurt more and keep pulling. his nurses held me down until he was done. Im pretty sure I just shut down at that point because I don't remember leaving the room, just crying the whole way home. A day or 2 later my mom noticed I had a bunch of red splotches all over my chest and thought it was a rash, she took me to the doctor and it was actually bursted blood vessels from the dentist basically smothering me and the nurses holding me down while I struggled. And finally to top it all off I only needed 4 teeth pulled and he pulled 7, and my home dentist couldn't even understand why he pulled so many. This man is a monster and should not be allowed to work with children. I'm 24 now and still have a hard time with going to the dentist and just general anxiety and trust issues beyond that. This was one of the worst experiences I ever had and it still haunts me today. My younger brother also has a similar story but he was much younger (3yo at the time, 15yo now) and doesn't remember it as much but he recalls being screamed at for crying, that it hurt a lot and that he was held down while he had his 4 front teeth pulled out.

Granville Dental was very easy to find. The waiting rooms were clean. The staff was very friendly to my daughter and myself. The follow-up phone call was helpful and informative.

If I could give this dr. A negative ranking I would. He is a very aggressive man when doing his so called work. I had a treatment there when I was a kid and left with multiple hand marks on my neck. Figure I would give him a chance with my son's dental and he had an even worst experience. Never should this man be allowed to work on children or anyone really. If anyone needs more legitimate reviews visit victims of dr Errol gaum on Facebook there are alot of people and family's with similar experiences.

He's been waiting over a year to get his procedure and the day before they decide he cant have it done. This place is a complete joke and I wouldnt bring my dog to get work done here!
