I went to this dentist even though it was out of the way because it was the only "holistic dentist" in the region. My experience was unpleasant and frustrating, and in some ways the opposite of what I expected.
To start with, during my exam, my x-rays were being shown across multiple screens there were at one point 4 people in my room for a reason I don't understand but it was uncomfortable.
I was told I needed several crowns, and could do them "all at once". It seemed odd that suddenly I would need so many crowns and odder still to try to do them all at the same time. After I left the office I emailed to ask specifics about that but did not receive any reply to those questions. They did reply to some others about insurance, etc., but not to that which was the more complicated issue.
On that first visit I also brought one of my children (a minor) who was given a full panoramic x-ray without me being consulted. (They said that HE said yes.... he's 16 and in a Dr.'s office, he's obviously going to do what he's told.) Not only should I have been asked about this ahead of time for reasons of his health and radiation exposure but it also turned a check-up visit into an almost $500 bill. It's outrageous on both counts.
When I decided to go to another dentist instead of returning to Dr. Thomas's office, the new dentist told me that I needed a cleaning. When I told them I just had a cleaning done a few months ago the dentist said her advice was not to wait, and suggested the cleaning I had at Dr. Thomas's office was not very good.
I didn't really want to post this, but I think it's important. Especially I expect a holistic dentist to respect their patient's privacy and comfort, to practice good communication, and to be careful with decision making around minor children. This is an expensive place to go, it should be top notch, it was very far from it. I'm happy with the new dentist I have.
