I used to be afraid of the dentist since my mom went through many dental surgeries since I was a little girl. As a physician I am great with getting blood work, receiving vaccines and IVs. But I had an irrational fear about dental work when I was a young woman. I also had some pretty painful post dental experiences in early years. However I have found Dr. Shivji to be as gentle and expert with his dental work as he is in his kind and thoughtful manner. I have a wonderful hygienist and the front staff is always positive and helpful. From regular care to having a crown changed, I have had only the best experience and highly recommend Asante Dental.

I went to see Dr. Lam after seeing the advertised special for first time clients. He told me I had 9 cavities inbetween my teeth, totalling almost $2000. I moved to Vancouver a few years ago and this was my first time seeing a dentist in the city, I thought it would be good to have one closer to home. After receiving the quote I went to my dentist of 15 years in Victoria BC to get a second opinion. When the office called Dr. Lam's office to get the x-rays to review they said they didn't have me on file. After getting new X-rays and an examination my dentist concluded I had no cavities, just a few "watch" areas. DO NOT GO HERE. I am so glad I decided to get a second opinion.

The assistant was very gentle and caring. The dentist was also very gentle, considerate and very swift. The local anesthetic was just right and wore off quickly as he had promised. Overall had a great experience as always.

Sadly, I never was treated, but booking was a disaster. Needed a new dentist and booked based on online reviews. Had not been since before the pandemic and am long overdue. I clearly stated at least three times on the phone I wanted a check-up AND a cleaning. As I was driving about 45 minutes, I did not want to do two appointments for both. I was booked in, drove there (late on a Friday, so almost an hour in traffic). When I got in the chair and began discussing, I was told they only booked me in for a checkup, had no hygienist in and were closed in 30 minutes. "Oh, I guess there was a misunderstanding." As such, the search will continue after having wasted over two hours of my time.

I apologize for my recent post about your receptionist. I posted on the wrong dentistry office all together. The other place is a couple blocks away from you. I spoke to the receptionist today and she was just lovely. I again am apologizing for leaving a bad review when I've never had been there. I'm sure I'll leave a great review after my visit ???? Amazing dentistry! I love Colleen, Taz and the dentist! (Sorry....I don't remember her name) but they were all amazing!! I'll go there till the end of time! I again....apologize.

Dr.Shivji is the best in what he does, he is very meticulous and knowledgeable, very professional and fantastic bed side manners. He is a professional gentleman and I would not have anyone but him only look after my family’s oral well being!!!

This is in response to "Roc" below. It is disturbing to see your review of Asante Dental and especially their receptionist Colleen. It is glaringly obvious that you are either mistaken about which business you are referring to, or are intentionally posting lies to what end I can only imagine. I have been a patient at Asante for over 10 years. In all that time Colleen has never once been less than wonderful to me and all the people I have referred who also became devoted clients. In fact, Colleen is one of the very best things about Asante!! If I have an emergency she moves heaven and earth to get me in immediately. If I'm in a lousy mood it is no match for her cheerful upbeat optimism. In all these years she has never once missed calling to wish me a Happy Birthday/New Years/Easter etc etc. And I have never, EVER, heard her be less than courteous, kind and perpetually cheerful to every single person who calls or comes in to her office. And, I have never seen her wear a big cross - not that there's anything wrong with that. (Her style is more classic as she is a petitè woman and does not wear any large jewelry.) I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for Colleen and her ability to brighten anyone's day. As does absolutely everyone I know who knows her. The same can be said for everyone at Asante. The level of professionalism, skill and workmanship combined with kindness and compassion from every single person there is like visiting old friends every time I go. So you, Roc, have made a terrible mistake. As Dr. Shivji responded to your 'review' absolutely no one in either of their offices recognizes your name. So, whether intentional or accidental, you owe an amazing lady an apology. If, that is, you have the honesty and integrity to own up to your error. My name is Renée-Lynn Duncan and I stand behind every word. Usually I post reviews on Yelp and you're very welcome to see them all throughout the years. Please do. And to Colleen...please don't take this Roc person's words to heart. You are an amazing lady and everyone in my family absolutely admires your bright and shining spirit. I've been very impressed with my experience at Asante Dental. Initially I chose Asante because they cover 20% of dental costs for those with StudentCare insurance (StudentCare only covers 80%). Since getting to know the staff a bit, I'm very glad I chose them. Colleen is always very friendly and helpful when it comes to figuring out insurance. I've never had to wait hardly at all for my appointment to start (which is amazing). Most importantly Dr. Ghadiri is always very caring, knowledgeable, and efficient. Highly recommend Asante Dental!

To all the people that have a fear of going to a dentist, ..... go see Doc. Ghadiri and Jen. This place is run by a small group, with Colleen holding the front (great woman) and the medical staff Dc. Ghadiri and her assistant Jen in the back. But don't be fooled,................. they are a GIANT in the performance department ,...... since they can perform MAGIC with your teeth and your fears, leaving you completely without fear and looking forward to your next appointment, with them. Don't forget , that in the end ,you are the winner, walking away with the best dental care and best teeth men can ask for. And on top it all , you will have lost your fear to go see a dentist ! In all my years,.. never had an experience like this.

Awesome dental office! Colleen at the front desk is absolutely lovely and great at her job. As a new patient, I was able to get a cleaning and a cavity filling all within a week of me first contacting the clinic. Colleen let me know about cancellations and fit me into their schedule. The dentist and hygienist were both great. Free parking in the back of the building as well.

I went for a routine cleaning and check up today at Asante New West. This is only my third visit as we are fairly new to town. Colleen, the admin at the front desk, is consistently cheerful and very efficient at her job. She remembers the tiniest details from former appointments and doesn’t miss a beat. What an absolute gem of a lady who takes the time to get to know you! Howie was filling in today and cleaned my teeth; I don’t think they’ve ever been this clean. He fit right in with his calm and caring demeanour. Howie struck me as very professional, positive and knowledgeable; he gave me some excellent tips to better care for my teeth. I really hope he is a regular face at Asante. If you are looking for a place that treats you like gold, Asante is for you :) Thank you!

AMAZING DENTISTRY @ ASANTE DENTAL IN NEW WEST Just wanted to say a Huge Thank You to Dr Ghadiri and team over at Asante Dental! My daughter needed a tooth extraction but has a needle phobia, and was super fearful. Dr Ghadiri and Jennifer totally helped her through the process and kept her as calm and comfortable as possible, they did an amazing job, and she even laughed about it afterwards! I highly recommend taking your kids to Asante, I bring my three kidos to Dr Ghadiri and Dr Shivji, and I’m always so grateful with the experience and care there!

ONE STAR IS TOO MUCH (but the only way to review is to enter something). This place came highly recommended, but they failed, miserably. I was told that I needed a crown. I experienced pain with cold almost immediately afterward. I was told that that often happens. And to buy $15.00 toothpaste!! Why was I not warned beforehand that, while I had zero pain before the crown, I might have to live with pain the rest of my life if I got one? I didn`t even know there was a problem - I took Dr Ghadiri`s word for it. She did not say "By the way, you will have pain forever more". That would have made it an easy choice. I was told I needed a new night guard. Took them at their word, again. It fell apart after 2-1/2 months. By then Covid hit and everything was closed. When they reopened, I was told that the warranty had passed. WARNING - If you get a night guard here, they will only last 90 days. While they did say that they'd make a new one at no charge, why would I bother? It would also fall apart in a couple of months. I have had two night guards in the past, and both lasted several years. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I spent thousands of dollars for.....nothing?? Oh. Wait. I have pain and a useless night guard. Guess that is not nothing.

I have been going to Asante Dental Centre in New Westminster since their inception. I felt compelled to write this quick review as my most recent experience in July was the best experience I have ever had in the last 40+ years. The hygienist that provided my most recent cleaning was the gentlest imaginable. And of course, the services provided directly by Dr. Shivji are always stellar.

My appointment was actually exciting! Dr Ghadiri is very, very, detail-oriented and I am more than confident I am receiving the best care possible. I can't believe I no longer have any fear at all when I think about having dental work done - not even a twinge of nervousness. Quite a turnaround from three months ago. I only have a couple of appointments left before my treatment is complete. It's been an adventure, to say the least. The kindness and friendliness has been a constant and really contrasts positively when compared with my prior experiences. You won't be disappointed when you choose to be treated by Asante Dental, I guarantee it. I am recommending them to everyone I know!

I moved away from New West 2 years ago, but still travel an hour each way from downtown Vancouver every 6 months for my appointments at Asante. Dr. Shivji is knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Colleen at reception is always warm and inviting and remembers my scheduling preferences every time. Marieke (sorry for probably butchering the spelling of your name) always makes me feel comfortable and is quick and efficient, the cleaning goes by very quickly. Can't recommend these guys enough!
