I have been going to Dr.Orlando since moving here in 2010. Today I went in for a cleaning. He came in and wanted to do an oral exam. I told him I didn't require that service today and that I was just in for a cleaning. No costly x-rays or a dental exam today, thanks and explained that I simply can't afford to do it this month. I am single and self employed living on a single income and due to COVID, business is slower than normal. I do not have dental coverage so I pay the full fee out of pocket. The total today was just over $150.00, had I let him look into my mouth for 5 minutes, it would have cost well over $200.00. Had I had x-rays today, it would have cost more than double. While money is tight, I did not cancel the appointment as I had made it a year in advance. He argued with me for 5 minutes about why I should allow him to do the oral exam and how he's responsible for my oral care. When I'm in his office, it's protocol that he does an oral exam. I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR MY OWN TEETH, NOT YOU DOC OR ANYONE ELSE! Because I refused him, he told me to go elsewhere next time. You would think he would be a little more understanding considering the state of things and be appreciative that I kept the appointment. I think it's WRONG to try to pressure someone into a service(s) they do not want. My teeth are well taken care of at home, I'll see a dentist if I need to and when I can afford it. When my clients come to me for a particular service, I do not pressure them into more costly services, nor tell them to go elsewhere if they don't want those other services. HUGELY DISAPPOINTED AND DISGUSTED TO BE TREATED LIKE A BAG OF MONEY RATHER THAN A HUMAN BEING TRYING TO SURVIVE A FINANCIALLY INSECURE TIME!! I'll happily go to another dentist next time....who will appreciate my business more than this guy....
