Northfield Dental is the best clinic I’ve ever been to. I’ve seen both Dr. Booker and Dr. Cooper, and they’re both terrific, as are the clinic staff. I usually require extra freezing, and some dentists in the past have pooh-poohed that request. In one instance, when I stated I could feel the drill hitting a nerve, the dentist said there was no way I could be feeling it because he had frozen it thoroughly. As a result of these bad experiences, I’ve developed an aversion to dentists and postponed necessary treatment due to my fears. However, Dr. Booker was unfailingly kind during my consultation, explaining all of my options and alleviating my stress. During my next appointment, she froze my mouth so thoroughly that I felt virtually nothing. Although I have a long treatment road ahead, I feel that I am in excellent hands. I cannot say enough good things about Northfield Dental and highly recommend this clinic.

I had some extensive work done at Northfield Dental by both Dr. Cooper and Dr. Booker and 2.5 years later all the fillings they gave me are loose and broken. These should last much longer than 2.5 years... :( Very disappointed that I need to have all the work redone.

Reception was very friendly when I called to book an emergency appointment for a chipped tooth, they got me in the next morning. The clinic is very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Dr. Chan and his assistant did a great job repairing my tooth, and I was there for less than an hour. Would definitely recommend.

I never thought that I would give a dental office such a high rating. But this office certainly earned it. Dr. Booker never recommends unnecessary work. In fact, recommendations from my previous dentist for major dental work were not needed at all. Sarah, the hygienist takes care of my cleaning and she is great with my dental phobia and gets me through it with minimal discomfort. I leave with a smile on my face. I highly recommend Dr. Booker and his staff!

I am sorry I ever went there. It is all about money. Before I retired and had a dental plan and had two crowns etc. done by Northfield Dental Clinic. et They both failed in less than 3 years. They wanted another $2,000 to repair the failed crown or $5,000 for an implant. I had the first failure extracted by Northfield the at the cost of $236.00. When the second one failed two weeks later I was forced to have it removed also. I attended another dentist office in Ladysmith and it was removed with less pain and 1/2 the cost. ($110.70) It was in Ladysmith that I realized that Northfield does not use a digital x ray machine which has a much higher radiation exposure. (80% according to Google) I had great difficulty obtaining my x rays and a copy of my dental records . I was told that I do not own the x rays and she placed them on the counter and said I could take a photo with my phone knowing that the result would be ineffective. I wish I would have read the reviews before I went to Northfield since there is another story of a failed crown. BEWARE!

Dr. Cooper is knowledgeable, friendly and always a pleasure. Every staff member I've dealt with knows what they're doing and make every visit painless (metaphorically speaking). We have even done a recent check up with our newest family member and are confident he is in good hands. Highly recommend.

Dr. Lewis was my dentist for decades until these two clowns took over the clinic, hence the reason I left. My experience with Booker and Cooper was that they were incompetent and apathetic. I personally found them to be rude and sarcastic, I would never recommend this clinic to anyone. Booker performed a root canal and then ordered me the wrong shade of crown that did not match the rest of my teeth. The whole time she worked on my teeth she was gabbing over top of me with her assistant about TV shows they both like to watch, very unprofessional. I found Cooper to be rude and lacking in people skills, actually,they are both the same way. I really do not think these two value their patients at all and I feel they are a discredit to the dental profession.

I just wanted to post a comment about Dr. Booker and Dr. Cooper and my experience with these great Nanaimo based dentists. I'm one of those types of patients that has had a long time fear with going to the dentist, perhaps it started when I was a kid. I was looking for a new dentist a number of years ago and wanted something close to my work as I live on the outskirts of town. I booked my first appointment early in the morning and remember hearing the office staff chatting and laughing, I immediately felt very comfortable. When my turn came up that was pretty well dead on with my appointment time both the doctors introduced themselves and then Dr Cooper finished with a really nice chat about my fears and how they were going to work with me. Now after many appointments over the years my fear has subsided substantially. Very caring Doctors and I would highly recommended them. Thank you Dr Booker and Dr. Cooper for helping me!!!!

Who would have thought the extraction of a shattered root would be so COMFORTABLE?!? I had a tooth that broke right down to the root. I did not take care of it right away and thought I'd actually have to get it surgically removed but Dr. Cooper was able to do it right in the office, quickly and efficiently AND make me snicker when a couple parts made me jump from the sounds. Other than some very mild pressure where I worried once or twice I would START to feel things, the entire process was completely pain free. I also went in for several preliminary cleanings with the dental hygienist, Jessica. She was absolutely fabulous and took wonderful care of me. She was careful, considerate and explained things thoroughly. She was very respectful of my gag reflex when doing the X-rays and again made everything as pain free as possible. Dr. Booker and I made a solid plan going forward for updated dental care and the ladies in reception were absolutely fantastic and judgment-free about working with my budget and revising and updating my estimates without ever making me feel bad about the degree of work caused by my self-neglect or anything else. I look forward to a hugely improved smile by the end of the our plan, and I will be making a point to do better at dental self-care. With these dentists and their team, there's zero excuse for anything else.

Great facilities, especially with the expansion of the whole office. Had an awesome 360° x-ray done when I came in to have a teeth cleaning, confirmed that I'm in fact a lucky Indigenous person who doesn't have to worry about Wisdom Teeth coming in ???????? Had Dr. Chan the last two visits, and he seemed like a very nice person, always checking in with me. I really hate getting dental done so I'm a big baby about it, but the doctors and dental assistants are all really great and make the visit a positive one.

Assessing a dentist can be difficult as you often only see them a couple times a year and the appointments are often quick, so I like to make sure I mean what I say before I post a review. Over the years of being cared for by Rebecca and Aaron, I am happy to say that I am extremely pleased they're my dentists. They're not in it for just the money - and while they have to make a living too, they do their very best to help you within the dental plan you have available. They're kind, considerate, discreet and best of all GENTLE and Effective! They don't hesitate to answer any questions you have, and *I* don't hesitate to go back. I'm no longer afraid of needles in my mouth when freezing is required and my whole family moved to Northfield Dental and made them our dentist. I can't see us going anywhere else!

The whole staff was fantastic. We needed to have emergency dental work done on our son who is 7 and got a bad cavity while on a trip to Nanaimo. The receptionist went out of their way to help get us an appointment. The dentist was fantastic with children and took his tome to explain everything he was doing to our son which really helped ease his anxiety. I would highly recommend this practice!

When there was a cancelation they got me in 3 days earlier than my original appointment which was greatly appreciated. Terrible. I wish I had never had my crown done at this office. After just nearly three years it has now shattered. I have excellent oral hygiene and book regular appointments, don’t drink or smoke either. I called and asked what their warranty was and to see if they might take care of their client, they told me to come in and they would inspect as to why it broke and that the appointment would be nearly $200, and further, that there is only a 12 month warranty on the crown. The receptionist was very rude. With no information she very much implied that any damage would have been my fault alone. Many offices offer a 5 year warranty and many crowns last 20 years. I went to a new office yesterday and they explained that the crown broke for three reasons - the bite was incorrect and the lower tooth was hitting the upper crown (which I felt the whole time), also the gum line was not accurate and as a result bacteria had gotten inside the tooth, third it was of poor quality. Do not spend your money here. My wife has also had fillings fall out after two weeks and they made her pay to replace them.

Husband and wife team. The wife was my dentist until I asked for the husband as she was more interested in talking to staff about kids, their next house build or reno or just anything but focusing on the patient. The husband was more focused and did not like to be disturbed while working. Support staff are pleasant but not the one's who do the work and who make the atmosphere for going back. After two years of inconsistent treatment we have moved on......

I Can't Stop Thinking About Tony

Can't say enough about how much easier this place has made dealing with problem teeth. I've known I needed to give my teeth attention for years but I've just not had the money or the benefits to deal with it. They're now forcing their way to the top of the "essentials" list anyway, and there are issues (staining and chipping) that, combined with a gag reflex that turns into a monster when I'm stressed or agitated, unsurprisingly made me really nervous about approaching a dentist. I've been three times in the last couple years, and I need to go some more and *should* be going more often but finances are still an issue. NOT a problem. The staff have always checked with me before proceeding to make sure I have choices as to what to do, including any positives or negatives about difference choices, they don't push me to come in for treatment faster, they don't get annoyed at me for having to take time to breathe to get rid of that gagging problem - they are patient and sweet and funny and they don't even guilt you about flossing. ANYTHING they talk about is factual and friendly and with a clear attitude of "we're here to help you in whatever way we can." They are also honest. I mentioned a few issues that I thought were major and possibly would just not be possible for me to fix, ever, and they looked surprised and said "oh, no, those are easy to fix!" It made me so happy and gave me hope that one day I can get back a smile that used to be the thing I was most complimented on!! My third visit was just today, and for the first time I was able to wait perfectly calm and relaxed because I wasn't worried bout the guilt trips or scowls or (not so) silent disapproval of someone I'm paying to help me fix things I know need fixing, but can't always afford right away. To ALL the staff there, thank you so much for being amazing at your job. :)

I've always been leery of the dentist but since moving to the area three years ago and finding this clinic, I've been very comfortable coming in for all of my dental work. I explained to them that I had a $2000 limit and that I could NOT go over and it ended up costing me $2700 for some basic fillings (two of the fillings even fell out after 1 year). I could not pay and now it has ruined my credit. I definitely would not recommend this dentist.

I have major anxiety about going to the dentist, but this time was great. The ladies, the renovation and my dental hygienist Jessica were so amazing. She made me so comfortable, always checking to make sure I was comfortable and ok. The reno’s made it so I wasn’t sitting there listening to drilling and making me anxious, the place is looking amazing! This was probably one of the best experiences since childhood to where my anxiety wasn’t through the roof. Thank you so much for caring. Dr Cooper was very thorough with my exam and explained everything for me to understand. The receptionist Sarah was so kind and talked me through a few things that set me at ease. Just an overall great experience. The staff is so warm and friendly. Such a different experience than I’ve ever had, especially with my dental anxiousness. Thanks everyone.

All the staff I met so far are amazing from receptionists, to hygienists, to the dentist. My appointments were well organized with great communication, They send multiple reminders via text leading up to your appointment. Modern equipment and a very clean facility being used also adds reassurance. I was getting some fillings and it was such a breeze, I think I may have actualy fell asleep for a micro second. I will definightly continue to come here. Also they do direct billing.

Best dentist I have seen in my life. They don't recommend anything unnecessary. I had a filling fall out and they had me in the very next day, it took 20 minutes to do the whole procedure and it only cost $36 and i dont have insurance. Affordable, reliable and prompt. And they are GENTLE.

I had a small filling fall out that my dentist in Lantzville put in 4 months ago .I phoned my dentist for an appointment to get it fixed and was told a month .I needed it fixed right away so I phoned Northview dental and they got me in right away.They got me in even though I was not a patient of there’s and even though they are just as busy as the Lantzville office.Rebecca did an awesome job fixing my tooth and I was happy to get it done.I am surely switching to Northview dental after that.

Wish I would've got a second opinion before giving my hard earned money to this hack! I ended up having to have 4 out of 5 fillings REDONE because of this guy! I was treated totally unprofessionally... he's not here to help you he's here to make money! the final red flag for me to seek another dentist was when this guy started yelling "I don't know" over and over while trying to freeze my jaw what a joke. steer clear of this office

Lisa , the dental Hygienist was absolutely great . From my x-rays to a very though cleaning she was both the best and conscientious at the same time . Dr Booker to conclude explained to me the results of Lisa's exam , cleaning in a way that that showed his knowledge of his expertise. Now I see why Shoreline Orthodontic highly recommend this Clinic . I transfered my whole family here and will never look back . Very glad to have made the switch , and my cleaning was the best I've ever had over many decades . Big thumbs up to Lisa .

The staff is always polite and helpful. I have never had a long wait in the office. My one issue is that they don't follow up after they receive a report or recommendation from a specialist. You have to call and see if they received the report and do all the follow up with them.

The moment you walk in the door you are warmly greeted by two ladies who put you right at ease. I went in for emergency dentistry. The dentists are so calming for those that have fear of dental procedures they explain eveything and go at your pace. The atmosphere has great natural light coming in it was very tranquil. The dentists are calming reassuring and really care about their patiens concerns and confortability. They have great personalities and a sense of humour. I did not feel any pain at all when my tooth was being extracted it was done so quick by the time i knew it the procedure was over. I was all done I could have hugged the dentist for how happy i was after the procedure. I will defiemtly be keeping this ome as my only dentist, and letting others know. 5/5 Thanks

My wife had a terrible experience at this office. They did work well, and efficiently. However, they put in the most expensive filling type without giving other options. She explained our financial situation, and asked about payment plans and was never told about a more affordable filling option, nor were we told about payment plans. They used up the entire yearly coverage from our plan, and yet we still had to pay over $1000.00 out of pocket for a common procedure. Even after this incident they attempted to leech more money out of us by recommending an unnecessary procedure that would have cost us hundreds more. I would look around and compare other office rates. Keeping quality of work at top of mind as well. The cheapest option is not always the best option, but leaving a dental office feeling taken advantage of isn't a great option either.

I, like most of you, do not like to go to the dentist. I’m trying to get into the six month habit and will continue as this last experience was well worth it. My dental hygienist was very skilled and attentive, resulting in the best cleaning and whitest teeth I’ve had for years. The renovations to this Northfield dental clinic are lovely, it’s bright with lots of Windows and a fresh, clean atmosphere. The reception area and staff are very welcoming and the entire experience was surprisingly pleasant!
