A very big warm sincere thank you to Dr. Rose Dhillon and her wonderful staff. Thank you will never be enough. A friend recommended me for over more than two years. I finally went for the first time at the end of 2018 and from the very first moment I walked in, the front desk staff made me feel so very welcome. This is honestly the very first time that I have been able to experience such a positive dental visit/ appointments. In regards to medical documents & insurance , I honestly don’t have to worry about anything at all and they bill the insurance company directly. I just pay the difference. Dr. Dhillon’s staff are taking care of it all , including surgical appointments. Yesterday I was in the dentist chair again for a very lengthy period of time and Kelly , Dr. Rose’s assistant couldn’t do enough for me to make me feel comfortable. Even offered me a warm blanket numerous times, drink of food. Been able to walk out of there with temporary teeth that look like the real thing, and feeling very comfortable with the looks of them, and not having a lisp? Huge!!!! Absolutely HUGE be able to talk and open my mouth without having to feel embarrassed. Just awesome. I just felt a need to share my unforgettable very positive experience at Lakewood Dental Centre. I hope that anyone who will be reading this will consider going to see Dr. Dhillon and her staff as they all are so very kind caring warm down to earth but also a very upscale comfortable dental office environment. To Dr. Rose Dhillon and staff , I hope you all understand the gratitude behind these words of thanks. Looking forward to my next appointment. November 6, 2019 Long overdue with writing another review, but life gets very hectic as you all understand. Dearest Dr.Rose and your wonderful staff. I have now become a regular and your dental chair has become pretty much my home away from home. I feel so at peace and cozy every single time I need to come in for dental work. I know and realize that my dental work has been very challenging at times and sometimes not all that fun, but there are not enough words to be found that could explain to you what a great Dentist you are. I am totally blown away by your very calm personality and perseverance in trying to get my dental work done and in making sure it’s done to perfection. I feel so very at ease with you and your staff. All the girls are so nice and accommodate my schedule changes or requests I have. I've seen going to Lakewood Dental since I was a child. Dr. Doug McDermid has always provided good, quick, almost painless dental work. I was recently there for a repair to an old filling that had cracked. Dr. Doug was quick and there was minimal pain. My opinion is that Dr. Doug is one of the best dentists and I'll be very sad whenever he decides to retire. The hygienists are also all very helpful and friendly.

Years ago Doug McDermid manipulated me into having my wisdom teeth removed for no clinical reason. His behaviour was incredibly unethical and permanently damaged my health. He should not be a dentist. He will claim that I agreed to have them removed, but the reality is that it never would have happened had he acted in the best interest of his patient. They need to teach better ethics in dental school and the industry needs to be regulated more closely so things like this don't happen.

Thanks Dr. Diamond!

I've been taking my whole family to Lakewood Dental for over 15 years now. All four kids have had their orthodontics with Doug. We've had many hygienists and both Dr. Doug and Dr. Rose as dentists. The front desk staff is very helpful and accommodating. They do their best to fit appointments into our schedule and even get us scheduled on the same day and time when possible. They have been able to get us in for emergencies in very short order too. Doug is very responsive and has even called us from his cabin to arrange a prescription once. Our insurance claims are processed immediately and our provider usually deposits our claim the next day. Unfortunately, this doesn't apply to orthodontic charges, which for some reason require a paper form and take about two to three weeks to process. I've contacted both our insurance provider (Manulife) and Lakewood to try to resolve this to no avail. Lakewood said the ortho codes wouldn't work for electronic claims, and Manulife said there was no reason why they wouldn't. There is also a clearing centre for electronic claims transactions between the Lakewood system and Manulife so the problem could be there, I don't know, but it never was resolved in my opinion. Now that all our kids are done ortho, it doesn't really matter to me anymore, but with two kids in ortho at the same time, the monthly payments were a bit tight sometimes, and sometimes waiting that extra two or three weeks was a little uncomfortable. Lakewood's charges follow the Manitoba standard fee schedule, so I haven't had any surprises on our dental insurance claims. Other dentists may charge more than the standard fee schedule, and insurance companies usually cover a percentage of the standard fee, so you end up paying your percentage plus the difference between the standard fee and the dentist fee. (If you get referred to a specialist, they will follow a different fee schedule for specialists, and you'll see what I mean when you get the claim back). Recently they have gained the ability to send us appointment reminders by email and text. This has been very convenient for us. Prior to text and email (and if you don't want to use them now) they called ahead to remind us of appointments - two weeks before, a week before, and the day before. You can get some free Wifi in the office, but it's spotty and not provided by Lakewood (I think maybe it's an MTS Wifi point?) so if you're sitting there waiting on your kids, you may not be able to get work done (or kill time on the Internet) easily. More on ortho: the startup process includes a meeting with Doug to see pictures of your current teeth alignment and a discussion of the program he recommends, and the patient responsibilities and financial arrangements. I've really appreciated these meetings. At the end of ortho, there are some additional lab fees that are mentioned in the initial meeting but can be a bit of surprise when you finally get to the end. I've also wished that Lakewood would give us a Before and After shot, maybe like a graduation certificate, at the end, so it could be a reminder to my kids of their accomplishment (and continuing responsibilities to care for their much improved (and more expensive) teeth). There's a reason we have stayed with Lakewood all these years - it's the people - Doug, Rose, the staff - they are all very competent and we've been very pleased with their service.

I really hate to give 1 star now. I had an amazing experience with Lakewood dental. The entire setup is customer friendly. However, I really had bad experience with my 7 year old son. I think, this is not a good place for kids in particular. For the first time, the hygienist while trying to extract the infected tooth, left it half-broken, and she referred me to another dentist. Although the hygienist did not charge for that visit, she hid the fact that she could only took half part of the tooth ( my son had so much pain), I got to know at the other dentist's place. On the third visit, the dentist did not identify correctly the source of pain for my son's molar. He mentioned that since in the second visit the "space maintainer" was removed, the remnant pain will subside within 1 or 2 days or may be 7 days. When I asked what could be done to alleviate the pain, he mentioned to five "Advil" or "Tylenol". Since, the pain for my son was unbearable I went to another dentist. My son was diagnosed and given antibiotic for the pain, and he feels much better. The another dentist identified the source of pain, and my son will have his one more tooth extracted. I fail to understand inconsistency in diagnosis.

As the expression goes, "better late than never". I know this is a long review but I feel it's a good one so I hope you will read it. If anyone is looking for an extremely competent, caring, understanding, empathetic Dentist, with a sense of humor.....Dr. Doug McDermid is your Dentist. I would not trust any other dentist with my teeth and I have gone through so much dental work, I could write a Best Seller's book. I should have married a dentist and my husband agrees! Ha! Ha! Before meeting Dr. Doug, I went through terrible dental experiences with what I consider incompetent dentists. My husband introduced me to Dr. Doug who treated me with kit gloves. He has brought me from literally a paranoid state to a more relaxed state. The office staff I interact with are professional, courteous, friendly, caring and always able to squeeze me in when I have a dental situation. When Dr. Doug was on vacation, Dr. Rose Dhillion resolved my dental woes. I have been cursed with bad bone, soft gums and teeth. Debbie, Devin, Tanya, and Stephanie make me feel like I am part of their dental family. I always have a friendly chat with them when I first arrive. They have a sense of humor, especially Devin who should consider stand-up comedy! Debbie, Office Manager, is a great listener, very accommodating, and shares her vacation pictures with me (I'm so envious of her brave adventures). Colette and Sara, Doug's Dental Assistants always put me at east before Dr. Doug looks at my teeth. Sara helped me solve a vegetable garden problem. Did you know the smell of Blood Meal helps deter deer from nibbling on vegetable plants? Colette and I have a great time exchanging life experiences and she always makes me laugh. Bev is a great Dental Hygienist.....thorough but yet gentle. With the high level of expertise and excellent customer service I have received over the years, I am positive the staff at Lakewood Dental I have not interacted with are first class as well. I told Dr. Doug he cannot retire until I have functioning teeth and I'm getting there, slowly but surely. I could go on and on about Dr. Doug and the staff, but I think you now know how highly I recommend Lakewood Dental for all your dental needs. My husband would say "ditto" to the above but he's lucky because he doesn't have anywhere close to the dental problems I have had since I was a child, continue to have, but my teeth situation is getting better and I know one day my husband will be so envious of my teeth.....thanks to Dr. Doug! They don't have a standard of how many units of time each scaling should take and just charge their patients arbitrary amounts of money. I received scalng treatment for 2 times at the clinic, and the price of the 2nd one, which was 3.5 units of time, is 75% more expensive than that of the 1st, which was 2 units of time. I took a scaling every 9 months and therefore I don't think I had more calculus when taking the second scaling. Besides, some of the staffers there don't inform you if their charges exceed your insurance's coverage beforehand.

For this appointment I had the new Dentist there to do my routine checkup examination part of my appointment teeth cleaning. I found he was more cold and all business and it seemed he did not enjoy his job. I get it that at the end of the day you maybe be tired because my appointment was in the evening but I am not willing to see him again for my check up or work on my teeth. I will stick with the two other senior dentists there and get friendly compassionate treatment and all around good service. First time patient. Both my children are patients of Lakewood and they told me how good they are.Had a broken wisdom tooth called them in the am and had an appointment same day. They had the tooth out by early that evening. Great staff very professional.

What’s the point of having an appointment if you still have to wait to be seen.? In addition to , trying to squeeze more money out of you by making you have more visits .Then you still need to wait almost 2 weeks just to solve the matter in the first place you went for.

My first time a Lakewood Dental. I showed up at the office after breaking two teeth. The receptionist saw how upset I was and told me not to worry that she would get someone to help me. She referred me to Dr. Justin Diamond. He is the best! He did a great job on my teeth in a very caring and professional manner. I am so grateful to have him as my new dentist. His assistant Gloria is awesome as well and all the staff at front reception are so friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend Lakewood Dental.

To begin with my first appointment was cancelled because the doctor was away on an emergency. The appointment was moved to the next day but when I got there was told that the clinic would call to advise what time to show up as the waiting times were around half an hour to an hour. I was adviised by Jackie to go home and wait for a phone call. I therefore asked for another appointment and was told Thursday at 9.50 a.m they would call again to advise what time to come. Personally, the receptionist did whatever she could but we ended up having to cancel the Thursday appointment and wait for a phone call from the office to advise when to come in to the office later that afernoon. As it was I did get a call from Doctor Salah asking me to call Jackie again and reboo the appointment asap for the net week to do a full checkup and prostate check. Here's the not so good part but there was no other choice but to accept the next appointment time which two weeks later. Jackie said if there was a cancellation to get me in sooner she would call.

My wife Wendy is posting the review as ur was her appointment. She had some very bad experiences with dentists in the past and was quite terrified to see the dentist. Everyone there treated her reaction with respect and kept communication going to reduce her level if anxiety. I thought they have done a great job so far. I will go back for further treatments.

All procedures are explained and you are made to feel comfortable and at ease. I personally am the biggest chicken when it comes to dental work but with the help of Dr. Doug and Dr. Rose, I actually look forward to my visits. I have a top denture that is permanently affixed with implants that Dr. Doug provided for me. I absolutely love it!! It's like having my own teeth, just better looking!! I've truly got a beautiful smile now and I'm proud to show it off.

I found the clinic had a very warm and inviting atmosphere. All the staff are very friendly and professional. I’m very anxious about getting dental work done and they were so good to me. The thoughtful and measured usage of email reminders is a breath of fresh air in an industry full of dentists willing to fill our inboxes to the brim with endless nonsense.
