I've been going to this dentist's office for my entire life. While the man in the mask (and the reason for masks, this year) might have changed, the excellence has remained the same. I've been seeing the current dentist, Cal, for 28 years, since he first became a dentist. I was 12. At the time, I HATED going there because of the old dr. Well, Cal has made it possible for me to enjoy my visits. He is a genuinely decent guy, who says reassuring things like, "if that were my tooth, I'd leave it alone" all along. He also never insisted on removing wisdom teeth that weren't causing problems! He even went so far as to perform a couple fillings on them, which lasted until the wisdom teeth had to go almost ten years later. And I've NEVER had to wait, my appointments have ALWAYS been on time here.

Dr. Hawthorne’s always cheerful and gentle manner makes what could be a nerve-wracking experience, a relaxed and pleasant one. Bev, the hygienist who cleaned my teeth is also warm, friendly, and extremely considerate and gentle. The atmosphere in the office is also relaxing with calming video to watch, if you so desire, along with subdued classic rock and roll music in the background to focus on. We drive an hour into the city to see Dr. Cal Hawthorn. Dr. Cal Hawthorn is the best dentist we have had. He does excellent work and is very attentive to discovering problems and listens to you about whatever concerns you may have.We have been with him for many years now. Office staff are polite and efficient. My wife and I are always taken in on time. Dr. Hawthorn only does work that you need done and his work is excellent. The one one star rating below is totally bogus in it's information because we have never experienced what that person said. We have been there while the place has been under renovation and there has been no difference in service...it remains excellent as always.

I visit my dentist about every six months and this healthy routine paid off for me in the best way possible. During my visit back in September 2017, I was scheduled for a routine cleaning. During the beginning of Dr. Tran procedure, He probed the neck area and looked carefully at the mouth and gums and tongue. He found a white lesion on the left side of my tongue which turned out to be an oral cancer. I was diagnosed with moderate epithelial dysplasia and referred to Head & Neck clinic for assessment and treatment. As far as I am concerned, He is the best. If you are looking for a Dentist who cares about you, I highly recommend him. He is very thorough and gentle. Thanks Dr. Tran for taking care me and my family.

My family and I have been going to Garden Oaks Dental for a number of years. Due to Dr. Rittberg's recent retirement we started being seen by Dr. Tran. We were a little worried at first about the change in dentist, but after meeting Dr. Tran and having introduced himself to us our worries have been settled. Dr. Tran has made us feel very comfortable and has answered any questions we may have had. He was gentle when working on my teeth and was very patient with his new hygienist which was so nice to see. The always smiling reception staff and hygienists which we have grown to love, are all still there to help us feel welcome, which is also great!! (The recent renovations are an added bonus)

Clearly knowledgeable and experienced, I feel comfortable and confident in whatever he’s doing when I’m there. Also provides good advice/feedback for any questions I have. Additionally, the hygienists and assistants have been incredibly helpful and friendly when I’m there, which is great. Conscious and careful of what they’re doing with a patient. The staff seem to have almost permanent and contagious smiles and can always seem to make out what you mumble out while you try to have conversations during a cleaning. I would 100% recommend garden oaks dental to anyone looking to find a fantastic dentist.
