I've been going here since I moved to Halifax and I find the team very welcoming and professional. They were the only clinic I called that booked me same day due to a dental issue. They take the time to work the insurance/financial stuff with you and the service has been top notch.

I have gone here twice. The first visit was great, and the second one was also good. The staff were professional and friendly and respected my limited insurance coverage. They offered my some cheaper alternatives to an expensive bite plane. However, I was promised $50 off my next appointment when I referred a friend, which I did, and this was not honoured. It may seem like a small thing, but it would have covered my entire bill after insurance and as a student that is a lot of money. I was also not informed beforehand that this was no longer in effect. All in all, it would have been better to honour the promise for all who it was offered to and just not offer it to people in future.

I can’t believe such a gang of great people would be found under one roof. I am getting much higher quality of service there than anywhere else, including the service industry. I was never in pain, never uncomfortable, and always treated like an esteemed customer, though my invoices are in the very low range. I could not imagine going somewhere else, or recommending someone else.

Dr Ngan is my all time favorite dentist! I feel so comfortable with him, he always explains exactly what needs to be done and his prices are fair. He along with other staff are super friendly and all seem to be really enjoying their work. I used to dread going to the dentist, now I look forward to it!

I had work done in November of last year and everything seemed quite all right up Monday of this week. The filling failed, took a few days to get in contact with the office to only be told the one I had seen no longer worked there and the other dentist had his own patients so he wouldn't be able to see me at all. Now I'm stuck with a cavity and no way to fix it unless I return to my home province - seriously take your oral care elsewhere and maybe have your fillings last longer then six months.

This was by far the best dental experience I’ve ever had. The staff is incredibly caring and sensitive. The exam and cleaning were extremely thorough. They offered in depth explanations for everything that they do, and why they do it, which left me with a much greater understanding of my dental care. Dr. Yu-Chi Kao is an exceptional dentist. I had three fillings done, and at each appointment I was impressed by how professional, speedy and capable he was. The assistance staff as well as the front office staff are also amazing, and helped to make my experience seamless and as comfortable as possible. This is an outstanding clinic! I’m from the Yukon and had to have emergency work completed while on vacation. Dr Kao is the utmost professional with fantastic bedside manner. The clinic staff are very knowledgeable with all aspects of the clinic. The team explained all the procedures and billing so that I completely understood what was going to happen. They even direct billed my insurance provider. So I highly recommend this team for your dental needs.

So I have been consistently impressed with the level of knowledge, professionalism, and genuine friendliness that I have experienced at my recent visits to Robie Street Dental. Don't let the back entrance and unassuming building scare you away, everyone from the lovely ladies at the front desk, through to the Hygienist and Dentist, have been warm, knowledgable and completely happy to answer any questions and deal with a nervy new patient. Pricing is very reasonable and planning for what work needs to be done and why/when is pragmatic and thoroughly explained. I will reccomend to everyone I know.

I went to Robie Street Dental in 2019 and it was determined I needed a root canal. I returned for my appointment and when I left, I was told the procedure was not done and I would need to come back for a second appointment. This information was not discussed with me ahead of time at all and I was surprised to find I needed to return. I came back for the second appointment and had the root canal completed (or so I thought). Months later, I returned to Robie Street Dental as one of my wisdom teeth was showing through and I wanted to know if I needed to have them removed. The tooth in question was about one tooth away from the one where I had the root canal done. There was no mention of it and I was told I did not need to have my wisdom teeth removed. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, the tooth that had the root canal done chips. There is now a hole in my tooth. As it has been less than two years since the procedure, I contacted Robie Street Dental to see what they can do about it. It takes about 3-4 attempts to get a response. When I finally hear back, I am told that I was only charged for a root canal and still need the filling. I was not notified of this when I left my appointment or contacted afterwards to follow up. I had no idea the procedure was STILL incomplete and I had been to the dentist since with no mention of it. I asked if it was able to be done without a fee as it was their error and I was told "you were advised and this is out of our hands." Communication was very poor (and quite rude) and the dental work was incomplete. I will not be returning to this practice and will be advising anyone I know to go elsewhere.

Dr Ngan is the absolute BEST dentist. I have diagnosed anxiety, a dentist phobia as well, due to issues with a previous dentist. Dr Ngan understands my anxiety and works with me to get the job done. He is always courteous, doesn’t baby me but makes me feel comfortable when I want to discuss issues. He is an absolute perfectionist regarding his work. Only the best work is acceptable. Always gives 100%. I’ve been going to him for 30 years, traveling one hour each way from my home. He’s the only dentist I trust to work on my teeth. His hygienist is quiet, calm and capable. His receptionist Gina is the absolute best, always a friendly greeting from her as well. They are an awesome team!!!
