I truly caution you to be weary. I have never had a dentist manage to use my entire dental insurance allowance within the span of my initial visits. I went in for a chip in one tooth that I wanted repaired, and once this was completed -mouth still open- she began making adjustments to other teeth without permission, but only "explaining" them after she was already in the process of the changes and then showed me afterwards what was done. This would have been fine, until I received the $900 bill at the reception desk after my "just 1 small chip repair" appointment. I returned for my annual routine cleaning and a cavity repair. Since my mouth was numb, she told me to come back to adjust the bite of where the filling was done as I "couldn't feel anything" now. I already had another appointment scheduled for the Invisalign consult since she told me due to the wear on my teeth this was not optional but needed to be done, so she would check my bite after the filling then. When I showed up for this appointment she (without asking permission) proceeded to take photo records, and the teeth imprints to be sent to Invisalign. Not only did she manage to make what should have been a seamless procedure of getting teeth imprints unnecessarily painful (and needed to repeat them more than once) she left her next patient waiting and promptly left the room without the chance to adjust the filling from the previous appointment as she said she would. I left this appointment with another shock at reception that the "photos" left me with a $350 bill. I know the photos are important but I felt so off about the whole process that I consulted with another dentist... come to find out, they don't even charge a fee for obtaining these records. I went in for a chip tooth repair, annual cleaning, one cavity and a discussion about Invisalign and I left with a paid $2,350 bill in a haze of not even knowing how that was possible, and* with adjustments that I now will need to have done by another dentist (with no insurance left), as I experience extreme discomfort writing this review - let alone going back there. I've never felt so taken advantage of and this level of disappointment with a service we have to place trust in. I hope this review will help someone else be a little more informed and prepared for such an experience.

Unfortunately I agree with many of these negative reviews. While not horrible, I can say I will not be returning. I had a filling that needed to be fixed as it was causing me pain after my apt. I had a bite plate made and it also was not made well and had to be redone with additional cost. She also does ask you to write a review immediately afterward, which feels awkward and unprofessional as it pressures you to write a positive review. She does educate you on what she knows, which is nice. But when I got a second opinion, it contradicted what a family member currently going to Dal dentistry was learning from his professors. It left me feeling even more confused. She also floods you with emails and messages and books you for future appointments without consulting you. I understand people can make mistakes. Though the couple times she did, there was little to no humility shown or responsibility taken for her mistakes. On top of this she charged me for her own mistakes. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m not sure you could find a world out there where this type of experience is called “fair” and “professional.”

Dr. O'Malley has done an absolutely amazing job on my teeth. I have been grinding my teeth since I was a child and had worn down my front teeth a lot. I didn't want to have crowns or veneers because I didn't want to lose so much of my natural tooth but she provided me with a great option to restoring them with cosmetic bonding. At the time Dr. O'Malley was working on completing her accreditation in Cosmetic Dentistry and asked me if I would like to participate as one of her cases. I agreed because I thought it would be a great opportunity to rebuild the wear on my teeth. I'm overjoyed with the final outcome! My teeth maintain a natural look and as I work in a dental lab, I can honestly say they are easily on par or even surpass the quality of a veneer or crown. I would highly recommend Dr. O'Malley's expertise in cosmetic and general dentistry! The work she produces is like fine art! I'm very happy with all the work Dr. O'Malley has done on my teeth.

The folks at Halifax Dental Studio rushed me right in and helped me after my dog accidentally broke my front tooth, exposing nerve and causing me severe pain. They promptly restructured my tooth, honestly shaping it nicer than it originally was. Because of my exposed nerve, I may need to get a root canal later, but I have a tooth again and am already feeling a little less pain.

I went in for an emergency appointment because of some pain I was experiencing. And I have found my dentist for life...because of Covid and having a 5 year old daughter life comes with its own expenses and it turns out I had a pretty bad cavity that was going to cost me 279. After my insurance went through Dr. O'Malley realized my situation and decided out of the goodness of her own heart to give me free x-rays, a free filling on another tooth, a free cleaning and she fixed my permanent retainer on my bottom teeth. I am in shock right now as I was not expecting the kindness I received today and I cannot say enough good things abiut Halifax Dental Studio, you have found a patient for life!

Best Cosmetic Dentist in Halifax. Last night I had my second visit with Dr. O'Malley. I had a front tooth that was chipped, flat compared to the one beside it, and it was also sliding a bit under my other front tooth as it was sliding over top of it due to crowding of my teeth. In about 40 minutes with no needles Dr. O'Malley rebuilt my front tooth, by hand. She not only repaired the chip but she also rounded out my tooth, shaped it, and did a high polish finish to it, and made it appear as if there is no crowding at all. It looks amazing. It looks so natural that it actually looks better than my other front tooth that I have no issues with. I know some people think these posts are fake but this lady is the real deal. She is an artist. All this work was done with bonding material, no vaneers, no grinding down my tooth to a stub, like was recommended by other dentists. I had even at one point went to see a high profile Halifax cosmetic dentist who recommended 25,000 dollars and vaneers. Wow am I glad I decided against that. I had another dentist repair the chipped tooth last year and had to go back 3 times because it was a mess and embarrassing the work she had done. Once the repair to the chip fell off I was so happy that's how bad the work was. So I did my research this time for the repair. I chose Dr. O'Malley based on her credentials, her volunteer work with poorer countries, her website reviews, and her caring introduction on her website. She truly understands how your teeth and smile can impact your self confidence. Dr. O'Malley is also the only Atlantic Canadian accredited through the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and one of only 12 with the accreditation in Canada. She teaches and lectures on Cosmetic Dentistry procedures all over Canada and the US. I just so happened to arrive for my appointment last night when she was showing another client her presentation she will be presenting in Boston that was filled with stunning before and after photos.. As she was going through the photos and presentation quickly I was thinking to myself.. OMG if this is the caliber of work she does I am so excited to see what she does with my front tooth.. I never write reviews but I feel I have to with this dentist. It was the most bizarre experience for a visit to a dentist. I went in for a bonding procedure on one tooth. She asked if she could take pictures of the process for a conference and I consented. I had no idea I would be charged for the photos! Then, after doing the bonding procedure, she said I needed several fillings. I was surprised because I had a check up at my regular dentist a couple weeks previous and I was all clear. She explained it was “ preventative” and she then proceeded to do a filling on one of my teeth without freezing. It was so painful and she kept telling me it will stop soon. Then she wanted me to come back for more. Forget that. While I sat in her chair, she asked me to write a Google review! It.was.bizarre. I ended up going to Gladstone Dental to fix the bad job she did and I couldn’t be happier. Oh yeah.....her and her staff repeatedly call you for appointments. She will say I was never a patient——-I was!

A REVIEW FROM A STUDENT: I have never written a review for a company before, however I must say I felt extremely uncomfortable with my whole experience with this dentist office. First of all, the secretary does both the office work and the assistant work which left me with a bad first impression when I sat in the waiting room alone for 15 minutes before being noticed. I left with a bill that didn't make sense and I paid more for this "cleaning" then I have ever paid before. It was obvious that extra work was done without my knowledge when my insurance didn't cover as much as they usually do. The worst part of the whole thing was when she tried to pressure me into getting cosmetic work done. I'm 22 years old and I am pretty confident with the way my teeth are. However, the dentist started to make a list of extra unnecessary work that could be done to improve them, fillings for teeth that don't have cavities, rebuilding teeth that are "worn down" etc. I go to the dentist regularly in my home town and have usually been told I have great teeth. I felt very uncomfortable and had to insist multiple times that she let me think about it. I also felt like the office was not as clean as it should be, the sunglasses she put on me were disgustingly dirty and the office was uncomfortably cold. I'm usually a very optimistic person but this experience was extremely unprofessional and I warn anyone who is considering this office to reconsider. The only good part of the experience was the secretary/ assistant. Despite being busy with basically two jobs I really appreciated her honesty and understanding personality... also, if you are going to charge a late fee for cancelling an appointment without 72 hour notice you should consider calling people 72 hours prior to remind them.. not 19 hours before the appointment. Ps. The dentist office to the left of them seemed much more professional and were very friendly with me as I waited. I would check them out if you're looking for something in the area.

Excellent experience. My back tooth had a crown with a cavity underneath it. It fell off and looked hideous. As an alternative to another crown, Dr. O’Malley reconstructed the tooth with bonding. It cost much less and looks amazing!

This dental office acts more like sleezy sales people than health care professionals. Not accurate quotes, charges for things you didn't even know what was happening...and to top it off she calls you nonstop with appointments she personally makes without your consent..and I'm not talking one or two calls every few months. I'm talking 2 calls a day for months till you threaten with taking her to BBB. They even charge you to take before and after photos for HER website. Her reply states I am not a patient. I was. Long story short don’t go here. Long story: I’m the type of guy to mind his own business but I got bad vibes from the very start. First of all dr. O’Malley herself is very rude to not only patients but her assistant as well, Like borderline verbal abuse. You can see many other reviews that mention this so I’m not alone. My mother had a very bad experience with her so we decided to switch dentists and when I tried to cancel my appointment which was the following week they refused to. The assistant never communicated with the doctor and I received a frantic phone call from dr. O’Malley trying to keep me from leaving the practice. During the call she talked to me like a child saying I had to make my own decisions not my mother, yet I had already informed them of my choices.

Absolutely terrible service, I called about TMJ and asked if they could assist they advised they needed to have me in for a consultation, I went it - after 5 minutes (and $100 charge) they told me they would need to refer me to another dentist and could not do the treatment . I felt very much like they are just trying to get you in to get money. They could have advised me over the phone they couldn't offer the treatment and gave me the name of the dentist that could. Also, I googled the dentist they wanted to refer me to and they had terrible reviews about not being able to help and over charging. Do not go to this dentist. I went as I was at a lose for help with my TMJ and their website looked like they were knowledgeable - I knew more about TMJ then the dentist did.

Dr. O’Malley is by far the best dentist I have been too. She has great mannerism and wants to help people in her community. She offered to give back to an organization in the community, and I got to be a recipient of her generosity (Thank God because I don’t have dental insurance or the financial resources for the last few years). Twice a year I see Dr O'Malley for my check ups. She is fast, efficient and thorough. She demands a lot from her staff, but that is what makes her so effective. I am definitely convinced my bite plane has helped to properly preserve my teeth. My articulation has improved and I have not needed a filling for a long time. I was kind of desperate for a dentist at the time. But since. I was also forced to have my filling replaced and she charged me as a dental emergency and over charged my insurance. Since then my fillings fell out and cracked and she set up an appointment for me with out contacting me and now claimed I owe them for appointment I was un aware of. I went here pre-pandemic, so it's been almost two years, but I keep thinking about this experience often enough, especially compared to my new dentist, that I'm finally sitting down to write this. No doubt she's going to comment on my review as she has other poor reviews, saying I wasn't a patient. Hilarious. Don't go here. First of all, when you get there the building is weirdly shut down, and you'll sit alone in the dark waiting room until she finally emerges from the back. If you're lucky enough to have insurance, she'll spend almost as much time standing at the computer calculating all the small things she can add on to maximize the cost and use it all up, leaving nothing for when she wants you to come back to get your wisdom teeth out. She charged my boyfriend 3x (no joke!) what I was charged at my new dentist to get my night guard, and then she charged him MORE to fix it when it didn't fit (which was her own fault). She didn't buff the fillings she put near on a few teeth, where the tooth near my gum was getting exposed and sensitive. Nice to have that the sensitivity gone, but when I run my tooth along the fillings it feels like the cracked edge of a plate. She told me to come in in a week if they weren't smoothing down but I had a feeling she'd charge me more so I didn't and whatever. She kept talking her trip to Greece. I mean that's nice and all. Maybe we could all go if we weren't paying exorbitant amounts for dental care. Oh yeah, she'll pressure you to write a review online while you're STILL SITTING IN YOUR CHAIR, so you'll feel like you have to 5 star if you do. After paying and everything, I asked where the bathroom was cause I had to pee, and I go in and luckily I did and looked in the mirror cause I had white toothpaste or whatever spattered ALL OVER MY FACE. What dentist doesn't dab that off, or even worse, doesn't say ANYTHING and is just going to let you walk out of the building like that?!? And lastly, she'll call you and leave a message literally every three days to get you to come back, telling you you "missed your appointment" but she's rebooked you again for another arbitrary date. Which you'll miss and she'll rebook and phone to tell you. Again, and again. Then when you're finally coming in, she'll call you either at midnight or 6am to ask if she can push your appointment. I wanna laugh and cry just thinking about it. I don't even know why I'm leaving 2 stars. Mostly cause I don't want it to look like the 1 stars are all bots or something.

I have had the worst experience at this clinic, I booked an appointment to have an extraction I was advised not to have to removed it can be saved on my first visit I received a xray had, my teeth cleaned and a cavity fixed in the said tooth went one home and at almost $500. I had to go back to fix my gum line but I was in discomfort and express I had another xray had my gum line fix one 3 other tooth I saw some stains on one of my tooth was back and ask about it, mind you I had my tooth clean before. I was charge $594 for that visit a week later I went back with more discomfort and hypersensitivity I complain and was told it could be nerve damage or from grinding I was but if the tooth was fixed why is there more discomfort than before. I was xrayed again and this time another cavity was found in the same tooth that was fixed. I then ask how could you have missed this on my last 2 visits I was told they didn't use digital xray the tooth was fixed at a lower cost of $60/70 . 2 weeks later I now at a point where I can't touch my hair and fabric or metal crying myself to sleep at nights because of pain and hypersensitivity. I went back to complain and explain my situation I was then told its a root canal or the teeth could be dying the tooth was checked with ice I was give a quote of $850 for a root canal and charged 55 for that visit. I have been on so much pain so very then that I'm at a point of drinking from a straw to avoid liquid going directly on my teeth. I had to miss I decided not to go for the root canal they called I called back to explain the discomfort I'm having and now the telling me to come in for the extraction if this was done when I asked I won't be here now. I'm in so much pain the I'm have to be on pain killers just to sleep at nights. Both of my front two teeth were very thin and worn down due to excessive grinding and clenching when stressed. I was very self conscious about how they looked. I went to a different dentist who looked at my teeth for 2 minutes, told me cosmetic bonding was not possible because my teeth were so horrible (they actually aren't, just worn), and then spent 30 minutes pushing veneers on me and telling me to calm down because I started to cry. When I could finally get a word in and tell him veneers were not possible due to the cost, he ended the appointment. I ended up filing a complaint. I found Halifax Dental studio 8 months later once I felt confident enough to look into cosmetic bonding again. Dr. Arab O'Malley made me feel a lot more comfortable and thoroughly explained the process to me, and that I was an ideal candidate. Dr. Arab O'Malley is professionally accredited in Cosmetic Dentistry, therefore no enamel was removed, and my teeth are now more protected against grinding. I also now have a beautiful white smile. My front teeth were so short and painful, and now they look exactly like they did a decade ago, I cant stop crying happy tears, it feels amazing to have my smile back

Left feeling completely violated. This horrible women pressured me into getting 3 fillings without any freezing. Mentioned I might feel some discomfort, but used my ridiculous competitive nature against me. It became a contest to see how much pain I could endure. She was counting backwards as a groaned through intense searing pain.I finally screamed stop halfway through the third filling and she said “c’mon you can do it … almost finished”. The entire time she was yelling at her obviously uncomfortable and sweating brand new hygienist. It is now 2 weeks later and I am in unbearable pain. I just returned from an actual sane dentist and we are going to wait a week after his bite adjustment before the probable root canal. This women should have her license removed.

Dr. O Mally is a miracle dentist. I have had 4 veneers over 15 years ago and they weren't matching the rest of my teeth due to shape, colour, and shifting teeth. I went for consultations to 3 other places who all told me I'd need ten new veneers and it would cost 15-20K. Dr O Mally came up with a better solution using bonding on my surrounding teeth to match what I had. With my insurance it only ended up costing around 1000. It has been truly life changing. The best part is that it looks so natural and real. I couldn't believe it. So happy I discovered this place.

Definitely the worst experience I have had from a dentist! I asked for cleaning and ended up with 4-5 extra things I never asked for. My bill ended up surpassing my insurance limit. Took the advantage of me having my mouth wide open to tell me extra stuff she will be doing without me knowing any details. Said my insurance would cover everything and that my claim was sent. 3 weeks later NOTHING!!, I called my insurance company and they said no claims!!! I had to take care of it myself which I do not mind but what a waist of time!!!!

I came in for a consultation about my crooked front tooth, I thought the only option was to get braces or invisalign which would be crazy expensive but Dr. Jenine told be about cosmetic bonding which is a cheaper alternative to make the teeth appear straighter. Really bad experience! I’ll give zero star if I could. Got two cut one on my face another one on my lips! They called back and saying it’s because of my dryness lips and don’t even mention about the cut on my face. Came in just for teeth cleaning but out of sudden she start filling my cavities without my permission. She only told you when she already working on it! Not a pleasant experience at all! They keep calling me even I told them I’m not coming back! They only have one dentist and one assistant. And the dentist picked up the phone call in the middle of my treatment more than two times. Please stop calling me!

I booked for the removal of my permanent retainers and i got more than that. Dr. Jenine also did cleaning and filled a cavity I had(which I only learned I have during the session). The whole thing was done in about an hour which is what you would expect for these services. To top it off, I was given a goody bag which I suppose was standard for new clients. Would definitely go back in 6 months time. 5 ???? for me.

A friend recommended me to go here to see Jenine O’Malley. I went there once and I only wanted fillings. She pressured me into other stuff and said my insurance covered it all. I wasn’t even sure of what she was doing. I’ve never felt like this in a dentist office in my life. I asked my other dentist to forward over my records, but she said that didn’t happen. So she told me she would do an X-ray and I didn’t have to pay for it. I had a bad vibe about her and she treated her assistant like trash, but I brushed it off. I got an offer to join the military so I told her I would no longer need a dentist. I felt like because she knew this, she was creating things to “fix”, that didn’t need to be fixed. Later on, I received a phone call saying I had to pay for the X-ray, I was really annoyed, but I did it anyway. I felt like my bill was shady, but I didn’t think much of it because my insurance covered it. It was definitely the highest bill I had ever seen. I wasn’t due for a cleaning, so again it felt like she was doing unnecessary work to make a bigger insurance claim. I’ve been receiving calls from this business since I went there once in December 2019. They always leave a message saying, I’m due for a cleaning, check-up, missed appointment etc. I called back, and said I go to the military dentist, which she new my one and only visit. They still call, and the most recent call a couple of months ago said, I owed money. When I absolutely do not. I would never go there again or recommend it to anyone! I see that she is commenting on here, but just know I am telling the truth. My story honestly isn’t that bad compared to the horror stories told in other reviews I have read just by googling her name.

I truly caution you to be weary. I have never had a dentist manage to use my entire dental insurance allowance within the span of my initial visits. I went in for a chip in one tooth that I wanted repaired, and once this was completed -mouth still open- she began making adjustments to other teeth without permission, but only "explaining" them after she was already in the process of the changes and then showed me afterwards what was done. This would have been fine, until I received the $900 bill at the reception desk after my "just 1 small chip repair" appointment. I returned for my annual routine cleaning and a cavity repair. Since my mouth was numb, she told me to come back to adjust the bite of where the filling was done as I "couldn't feel anything" now. I already had another appointment scheduled for the Invisalign consult since she told me due to the wear on my teeth this was not optional but needed to be done, so she would check my bite after the filling then. When I showed up for this appointment she (without asking permission) proceeded to take photo records, and the teeth imprints to be sent to Invisalign. Not only did she manage to make what should have been a seamless procedure of getting teeth imprints unnecessarily painful (and needed to repeat them more than once) she left her next patient waiting and promptly left the room without the chance to adjust the filling from the previous appointment as she said she would. I left this appointment with another shock at reception that the "photos" left me with a $350 bill. I know the photos are important but I felt so off about the whole process that I consulted with another dentist... come to find out, they don't even charge a fee for obtaining these records. I went in for a chip tooth repair, annual cleaning, one cavity and a discussion about Invisalign and I left with a paid $2,350 bill in a haze of not even knowing how that was possible, and* with adjustments that I now will need to have done by another dentist (with no insurance left), as I experience extreme discomfort writing this review - let alone going back there. I've never felt so taken advantage of and this level of disappointment with a service we have to place trust in. I hope this review will help someone else be a little more informed and prepared for such an experience.

Where do I even start ... I had found this dentist on google and being new to the area I saw she had all these “amazing “ reviews . To later find out while you wait for your freezing she hands you a paper with instructions how to give her a positive review and is completely persistent with you doing so . She also insists and manipulates you to believe cosmetic work is necessary for your over all health then you get the bill . Also At one appointment she asked me if she could take a picture of my teeth for her website I said sure to later find out she charged me $30 for that picture .Her secretary is also her assistant which she treats horribly with little to no respect. When I tried to end this horrible nightmare of a dentist she persistently calls you basically trying to save whatever client she can . My Suggestion. Careful read through all these reviews and really consider your choice .
